When Jennifer Lawrence Revealed Why She Politely Asked Robert De Niro To Leave Her Wedding Rehearsal Dinner
Image
Jennifer Lawrence’s Wedding Drama (Photo Credit – Facebook/Wikimedia)

So picture this: Jennifer Lawrence kicked Robert De Niro out of her wedding rehearsal dinner. Yeah, you read that right. Hollywood royalty got the boot. And honestly? It’s giving chaotic wedding energy, and we’re here for it.

So, Jen tied the knot with Cooke Maroney back in 2019. Fast forward a few years, they’ve got a little one named Cy, and life’s all cute and cozy. But rewind to the big day prep? Absolute mayhem. Wedding stress is real, but toss in guests like Adele, Kris Jenner, and De Niro himself? That’s a whole different circus.

Jen admitted it herself—wedding planning had her on edge. “It’s so stressful. You’re not having fun. You’re just like, ‘Is that person having fun?’” she said at the Golden Globes. And on top of that, there was the cold.

Image
Veteran actor Robert de Niro challenged Sharon Stone during the most intense shooting of Casino. During the shooting of the 1995 film, De Niro and Sharon Stone sat at a table where their characters had to talk.

The Basic Instinct star revealed during an interview with Business Insider that the scene involved her and De Niro having an intense back-and-forth. However, during those takes, Robert De Niro complimented the actress for her acting skills, which set off something within her.

There’s a scene in the movie where we’re sitting across a table arguing, and he says to me, ‘You’re a good actress, you know that?’

She continued,

And I remember in that scene when he said it, how furious it made me because it was my dream to do it, and then he challenged me at the table. I remember thinking, ‘Oh, you crossed a line today, mister.

Will Mr. Scorsese Address the Marvel Controversy? Exploring the Possibilities of Martin Scorsese’s 5-Part Documentary
Image
Back in 2019, Martin Scorsese set the internet on fire when he told Empire (via IndieWire) that Marvel movies are “not cinema,” comparing them to theme parks rather than films that dive into human emotions. His comments sparked major debate online but later subsided. Mr. Scorsese, a five-part documentary series on the legendary filmmaker’s life and career, is currently developing under Apple TV+, which promises an inside look at the acclaimed director’s creative journey. Meanwhile, we believe there’s a massive opportunity for the streamer to revisit Scorsese’s most headline-making moments, which undoubtedly include the Marvel controversy.

Sharon Stone remembers vastly different Joe Pesci and Robert De Niro making Casino
Sharon Stone
Sharon Stone was destined for stardom and exploded with it in the ‘90s with films like Basic Instinct. In 1995, she earned a much-deserved Oscar nomination for playing Ginger, the wife to Robert De Niro’s Sam “Ace” Rothstein. Thirty years after the release of Casino, Sharon Stone is remembering her time working with both De Niro and Joe Pesci on Martin Scorsese’s epic.

When asked by Business Insider how Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci compare on the set of Casino, Stone said, “It’s apples and oranges. Joey really, really fought for me to be seen and get the job. So I have a serious loyalty to Joey because he’s always backed me. It was always Joey and Jimmy Caan. They backed me since I was 19.”

As for Robert De Niro in particular, Sharon Stone said that they didn’t exactly have the best relationship while making Casino.

Image
This fall, Apple TV+ will release the five-part docuseries “Mr. Scorsese,” looking back on Martin Scorsese‘s legendary career.

But in a first look at the series, Scorsese looks back at a point in his career he’d probably rather forget, when Columbia Pictures pushed him to make sweeping cuts to what would become his breakthrough film, “Taxi Driver.”

In the sneak peek clip, which you can view below, Steven Spielberg talks about getting an upset phone call from Scorsese telling him that the studio wanted him to drastically cut down on the graphic violence in the film, most notably in the climatic shootout where an enraged Travis Bickle (Robert De Niro) exacts bloody judgment on a pimp that sells child prostitutes.

“‘They want me to cut all the blood spurting. They want me to cut the guy who loses his hand,” Spielberg recalls Scorsese telling him.

Uma Thurman Had One Condition To Star In The Old Guard 2
Image
Actor Uma Thurman has played some pretty tough women over the years, becoming immortalized as revenge-seeking, blade-wielding badass Beatrix "The Bride" Kiddo in Quentin Tarantino's "Kill Bill" films and starring in action flicks like the John Woo-directed "Paycheck" and the non-Marvel "The Avengers." In recent years, however, she's tended to stick more to dramas and comedies, eschewing sword fights and wire work for less action-heavy roles in movies as wide-ranging as Lars von Trier's nightmarish "Nymphomaniac" to the Robert De Niro-starring kids flick "The War With Grandpa." So, when it was revealed that she would be joining the cast of the action-fantasy sequel "The Old Guard 2," fans were a bit surprised (and extremely excited). But what made Thurman agree to such a high-profile action role again after all of these years?

In an interview with The New York Times, Thurman and her "The Old Guard 2" co-star Charlize Theron...

That’s not to ding “The Departed” – the movie’s a rich and wildly entertaining crime saga – but it was surprising that it was this film that finally netted Scorsese the trophy.

Sharon Stone Says De Niro “Crossed a Line” to Push Her in Casino
Sharon Stone
Sharon Stone recounted a heated moment with Robert De Niro on the set of Martin Scorsese’s Casino, saying she felt he “crossed a line” during a charged table exchange that left her furious. Stone said De Niro locked in on her and, as part of the scene, prodded with “You’re a good actress, you know that? Good f—ing actress,” which she interpreted in the moment as a challenge rather than simple praise. She later framed it as a technique that sharpened her performance, calling him a master at getting “under your skin.”

Stone added that acting opposite De Niro had been a long-held goal; she had auditioned for him multiple times before landing Casino and wanted to “hold [her] own” across the table. The exchange she describes aligns with her view of De Niro as a deeply observant performer who knows how to hit the precise nerve to elevate a scene.

Hong Kong and global film icon Jackie Chan received a Career Leopard award on Saturday night and an enthusiastic welcome at the 78th edition of the Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland. And on Sunday morning, the legendary multi-hyphenate shared insights into his career during a talk at the festival that drew a large crowd that started lining up outside the cinema well ahead of time.

Chan recalled working as a young stunt guy with Bruce Lee on Fist of Fury. “Bruce Lee tapped my shoulder [and said] ‘great’,” after several takes of a scene full of pain, he told the audience.

Chan also shared how he earned much respect from people at a bowling alley when he brought Bruce Lee there, adding that he himself was a really good bowler.

Image
Jackie Chan reenacted his role in Bruce Lee’s “Enter the Dragon” at Switzerland’s Locarno Film Festival.

Chan played a small part in the iconic film. In the past, he admitted Lee accidentally hit him with a stick during a scene – but that didn’t stop him from completing the take.

“I’m no Superman. I am scared,” he admitted. “Before a stunt, I go: ‘Am I going to die this time’?”

During a masterclass at the Swiss fest, he talked about his beginnings.

“That’s a long, long story,” he said. “I was lazy, naughty, I didn’t want to study – that’s why my father sent me to martial arts school. I liked fighting when I was young. Later, he asked: ‘Did you like the school?’ Yes, very much. I could kick the teacher, punch someone – whatever I wanted,” he joked.

One of several films on this list that is either a cult classic or a favorite of Quentin Tarantino’s, “Blow Out” has gained a significant reputation over the years as one of Brian De Palma’s best films. The neo-noir follows John Travolta’s Jack Terry, a sound man for a low-budget horror film who inadvertently records evidence that a supposed accidental tire blowout was in reality an assassination effort against a presidential hopeful. While this thriller isn’t as...

Pete Davidson Said Starry ‘SNL50’ Audience Was ‘Terrible,’ but Meryl Streep ‘Rules’
Image
NBC has announced that the 51st season of “Saturday Night Live” will hit the airwaves October 4, a date that is still nearly two months into the future. Meanwhile, its been about three months since “SNL” has graced us with a new set of hilarious(-to-mid) sketches, and last season was one of the series’ most eventful, since it was the 50th lap for the pop culture staple. During its half-centennial run, there was even a movie — about but unaffiliated to the series — about the making of its first episode.

The whole 50th ballyhoo led up to an all-star three-plus hour anniversary show that premiered Sunday (naturally), February 16. The audience was like an Oscar or Emmy night roster: Cher, Robert De Niro, Alec Baldwin, Scarlett Johansson, Zach Galifianakis, Jack Nicholson, Ayo Edebiri, Steve Martin, and Emma Stone, among many more. Meryl Streep appeared in her very first “SNL” sketch, for heaven’s sake.

Everything We Know About The Continuing Adventures of Cliff Booth
Quentin Tarantino at an event for The Oscars (2013)
Quentin Tarantino has decided that he’s only going to direct ten feature films, then retire from that part of his career. Pitt has reteamed with director David Fincher for the film, which may or may not be called The Continuing Adventures of Cliff Booth now – and below, we have put together...

Pete Davidson Says the ‘SNL50’ Audience Was ‘Terrible’: ‘It’s Just Famous People, and Famous People Only Like Themselves’
Image
“Saturday Night Live’s” 50th anniversary special in February may have been attended by everyone from Robert De Niro to Kim Kardashian, but according to “SNL” alum Pete Davidson, the audience inside the room was “terrible.”

In an appearance on “Late Night With Seth Meyers” on Wednesday, Davidson — who stars in the new comedy “The Pickup” with Eddie Murphy — revealed that there weren’t as many laughs during the live show as one would expect.

“Well, as you know from ‘SNL40,’ terrible audience,” Davidson told Meyers. “It’s a terrible audience. It’s just famous people, and famous people only like themselves.”

However, Davidson admitted that he’s “guilty of this” as well, with Meyers joking: “I remember when the pre-tape was playing, you were the only one laughing. We were like, ‘Oh, he’s coming in way too hot.'”

For the special, Davidson reprised his famous Chad character...

Image

“All About Eve,” which turns 75 this year, stars Bette Davis as an aging famed stage actress who becomes the object of obsession by her titular fan-turned-protege assistant (Anne Baxter). Joseph L. Mankiewicz directed the feature.

“Bette Davis, in that movie, you just can’t take your eyes off her,” Lohan said. “It’s one of those movies you can never remake because it’s so perfect. But that would be the dream role to play. Just the dialogue in it…”

And the “Freakier Friday” star isn’t the only modern actress who counts “All About Eve” as one of her favorite films. “Weapons” and “Fantastic Four” actress...

Kevin Costner is best known for his Westerns, but his connection to baseball is also as important as his contributions to the Western. Costner’s best-known role in a sports drama is the fantasy film Field of Dreams, in which he plays a farmer who builds a baseball stadium, attracting the ghosts of legendary players. The movie was nominated for Best Picture.

Apart from that, Costner has appeared in three more baseball movies. However, his connection does not end there. Before he became an actor, the Yellowstone star reportedly took to the game in his high school and even had dreams to go pro in college, before he was reportedly dropped by the coach at Cal State Fullerton.

Rob Lowe Returns to Filming in Los Angeles With ‘The Musical’ Opposite Gillian Jacobs and Will Brill
Image
Rob Lowe, who went viral in March for a fiery take on the challenges of shooting projects in Los Angeles, has returned to the city to shoot an independent film titled The Musical.

The beloved performer will star opposite Gillian Jacobs and Tony Award winner Will Brill in the dark comedy for director Giselle Bonilla and writer Alexander Heller. Filming is underway in Los Angeles, which is hoping for an uptick in local productions thanks to tax incentives, particularly for independent features, as previously reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

The Musical casts Brill as a frustrated playwright and middle school theater teacher who finds out that his ex-girlfriend (Jacobs) has started dating his nemesis, the school’s principal (Lowe). As a result, he hatches a plan to ruin the principal’s chances of winning the blue ribbon of academic excellence by secretly producing the most inappropriate musical imaginable. The story...

Latido Films Picks Up Mariano Cohn and Gastón Duprat-Directed Anthology Comedy ‘Homo Sapiens?’ (Exclusive)
Image
Leading Spanish sales agent Latido Films has picked up Mariano Cohn and Gastón Duprat’s riotous anthology comedy “Homo Sapiens?” (“Homo Argentum”) ahead of its wide release in Argentina.

The film marks the duo’s follow-up to 2021’s acclaimed “Official Competition,” starring Antonio Banderas and Penélope Cruz, and comes on the heels of the success of the Robert de Niro-starring Hulu series “Nada.” “Homo Sapiens?” also marks an anticipated reunion for Cohn and Duprat with Guillermo Francella, the lead of their Disney+/Star+ hit series “The Boss” (“El Encargado”) and one of Argentina’s most lauded actors.

The anthology comedy is heavily inspired by classic Italian comedy of the ’70s and films like “The Monsters.” It features sixteen self-contained short films, all starring Francella as different iterations of typical characters in Argentinian society. The result is a richly observational patchwork that pokes fun at several stereotypes, from the man-bun-wearing tech mogul to tourist-scamming wizards.

Leonardo DiCaprio Reportedly in Talks To Star in Michael Mann's Long-Awaited 'Heat 2'
Image
Nearly 30 years after Heat redefined the modern crime epic, Michael Mann is still trying to get Heat 2in front of cameras — but the project has hit a major financial speed bump. According to Puck’s “What I’m Hearing” newsletter by Matthew Belloni (best known for his remarkable work in Apple's The Studio), the film’s budget has become the biggest obstacle, with Mann and Warner Bros. unable to agree on just how much it should cost. Based on the bestselling prequel/sequel novel Mann co-authored, Heat 2 has been in development since 2022, with Adam Driver in talks to play a young Neil McCauley, the role originated by Robert De Niro.

The first film, released in 1995, was made for $60 million and grossed over $187 million worldwide — about $400 million in today’s dollars — but Mann’s recent track record at the box office hasn’t given the studio the same confidence.

Heat 2's Expensive Budget Causes Setback, Leonardo DiCaprio In Talks To Star In Sequel
Image
Heat 2's expensive budget reportedly caused a setback, and on top of that, Leonardo DiCaprio is in talks to star in the sequel. Written and directed by Michael Mann, the 1995 crime drama follows a game of cat and mouse between veteran LAPD detective Vincent Hanna (played by Al Pacino) and career criminal Neil McCauley (Robert De Niro).

Widely considered one of the greatest and most influential films of its genre, Heat 2 was announced to be in development in 2022, based on the bestselling prequel/sequel novel of the same name that Mann co-authored, with Adam Driver in talks to play a young Neil McCauley. While Mann has made much progress penning the screenplay, the sequel has yet to start shooting.

Leonardo DiCaprio Could Get Michael Mann’s Heat 2 Back on Track: Reports
Image
Leonardo DiCaprio might just be the lifeline that Heat 2 needs. According to reports from Puck, the Oscar winner has had early conversations with director Michael Mann about starring in the long-awaited prequel/sequel to his 1995 crime classic Heat. And if DiCaprio says yes, it could finally push the troubled project across the finish line.

Because right now, Heat 2 is stuck in a crisis. Michael Mann is currently locked in a heated budget battle with Warner Bros. over his ambitious project. Mann originally asked for more than $200M to bring his highly anticipated film to life. However, after immediate refusal from the studio, he has reportedly brought the number down to around $170M.

Yet, that’s still too much for Warner Bros. executives Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy, who are reportedly interested in the movie, but not at that cost. So now, they’re not only planning on...

A Forgotten Pierce Brosnan And Salma Hayek Flop Is Killing It On Netflix
Image
There aren't any filmmakers who want their movies to lose money and fade into obscurity, so it's probably comforting to know that the streaming era can give flops a new lease of life. Recently, John Cena and Alison Brie's "Freelance" soared to the top of Netflix's charts — two years after it bombed at the box office and got put on blast by critics. Similarly, Nicole Kidman's "Holland" has been killing it on Prime, despite being embraced with predominant negativity upon release.

What's more, some forgotten blasts from the past are also resonating with modern audiences. According to FlixPatrol, Brett Ratner's "After the Sunset" — a heist comedy starring Pierce Brosnan and Salma Hayek released in 2024 — has crept into Netflix's top 10 on August 5, sitting alongside some of the streaming service's original hits like "Happy Gilmore 2" and the animated gem "K-Pop Demon Hunters."

In the movie, Brosnan and...

'Heat 2' Budget Dispute Holding Up Development, Leonardo DiCaprio Eyeing Lead Role
Image
Nearly 30 years later, Michael Mann's Heatis set to make a comeback with a long-awaited sequel, but it seems there is a major production hurdle for the project. Based on a book co-written by Mann in 2022, Heat 2 will feature a brand-new star in the lead role, and while a dispute with the studio is holding up development, it seems a major A-lister is interested in taking over the neo-noir thriller.

According to Puck, Heat 2 is currently facing difficulties behind-the-scenes due to a budget dispute with Warner Bros. The Mann-directed picture had an initial budget of $200 million, but that figure has since been brought down to $170 million. However, WB is still hesitant to greenlight the film on a hefty budget, and might be willing to partner with another studio on the production. The script, which was completed by Mann earlier this year, is being read by Apple to see...

Henry Cavill’s $137 Million Forgotten ‘Chronicles of Narnia’ Replacement Quietly Resurrects on Global Streaming Charts
Image
Henry Cavill will always be known for his role as Superman, but long before he ever starred in Man of Steel, he teamed up with a Daredevil: Born Again star for a forgotten fantasy thriller that’s resurfaced on streaming charts. Cavill stars alongside Charlie Cox and Ian McKellen (X-Men) in Stardust, the 2007 fairytale epic following a young man who makes a promise to the love of his life to bring home a fallen star from a magical land. Despite releasing over 15 years ago, Stardust has returned to global VOD charts, trending in several countries, including Namibia. Stardust was well-liked by both fans and critics, earning a 77% score from the former and 86% from the latter on Rotten Tomatoes. It also grossed $137 million at the box office against a $70 million budget, meaning it fell just short of breaking even.
