Two-time Oscar-nominated director Gus Van Sant (Good Will Hunting, Milk, Drugstore Cowboy) will receive this year’s Campari Passion for Film Award at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival.

The honor recognizes film professionals whose creative work “reflects a deep and enduring passion for cinema.” Unlike a lifetime achievement award, the Campari Passion for Film Award celebrates artistic vision and the drive to leave a lasting imprint on cinematic storytelling.

The award ceremony will take place on September 2 in the Sala Grande, just before a screening of his latest film Dead Man’s Wire, which screens out of Competition.

The film stars Bill Skarsgård, Dacre Montgomery, Colman Domingo, Cary Elwes, Myha’la, and Al Pacino. The film was written by Austin Kolodney and produced by Elevated.

A first look at Dead Man's Wire shows a chilling scene where the kidnapper, Tony Kiritsis, played by It actor Bill Skarsgård, holds a gun to the head of mortgage banker Richard Hall, played by Dacre Montgomery.

In the photo, posted by DiscussingFilm on X (formerly Twitter), the image shows the moment police officers swarmed Kiritsis as he held Hall hostage. Colman Domingo, Myha'la, Cary Elwes, John Robinson, and Academy Award winner Al Pacino also star in the film.

Beginning July 1, Wrath of Man will be available to stream on Hulu. Directed by Ritchie from a screenplay he co-wrote with Ivan Atkinson and Marn Davies, the 2021 action thriller — a loose remake of the 2004 French film Cash Truck — follows H (Statham), a new cash truck driver in Los Angeles whose thwarting of a robbery leads to his skillset with guns and mysterious past being questioned. Holt McCallany (The Iron Claw), Jeffrey Donovan (Burn Notice), Josh Hartnett (Trap), Laz Alonso (The Boys), and Scott Eastwood (Suicide Squad) are among the actors who round out the movie's ensemble.

Moviegoers were clearly excited to see Ritchie and Statham's first collaboration in over a decade, as Wrath of Man was a major box office hit, grossing $104 million worldwide against a $40 million budget.

It's officially Blumhouse's time to play a game. News broke earlier this month that the production giant was set to acquire the rights to the long-running Saw franchise from Twisted Pictures, ensuring a future for the films and their many inventive traps. Today, that deal is now finalized with Jason Blum's banner reaching an agreement to purchase an ownership stake after negotiating with Oren Koules and Mark Burg's production company since last year. Terms haven't been made public yet, but Lionsgate is also set to keep its slice of the bloody pie, remaining on board as a distributor as it has since the first installment in 2004.

In addition to Blumhouse and Lionsgate, Content Partners, the parent company of Revolution Studios, has also purchased a stake in the existing library of Saw movies. The confirmed involvement of Blumhouse, however, is a massive development for the future of Jigsaw and company.

Ti West (X, Pearl, Maxxxine) sat in the director’s chair for Kid Cudi’s upcoming vampire-themed music video Neverland, and the musician has released the official poster today.

Produced by Jordan Peele and his Monkeypaw Productions and directed by Ti West, Neverland will premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on June 7, with tickets available now.

Being described as a short film, the eleven-minute video follows “a 200 year old vampire who takes his newly initiated love on her first feed.” Kid Cudi (Scott Mescudi) stars alongside Kiernan Shipka (Longlegs, “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina”), Brittany Snow (X), Haley Joel Osment (Blink Twice, Tusk), Cary Elwes (Saw), and Brandon Scott (Descendent).

Exclusive: Paramount Global just added another buzzy crime drama to its LA Screenings slate.

Paramount Global Content Distribution has picked up rights to Peacock’s Miami narcotics-dealer family drama M.I.A., which is from Ozark co-creator Bill Dubuque and MRC and stars Shannon Gisela. Buyers will be introduced to the series over coming days.

Hundreds of acquisitions execs are expected on the Paramount lot, where other shows such as Boston Blue and Sheriff County are also among the wares on offer following last week’s Upfront pick-ups.

As for M.I.A., it’s going international after Peacock gave it straight-to-series order last year. Synopsis reads: “Running drugs is a family affair for Etta Tiger Jonze (Shannon), but when the family business is threatened, Etta is thrust into a life she never expected, forcing her to use her wits to survive as she navigates Miami’s criminal underground.”

The Tribeca Film Fest 2025, presented by Okx, announced its short film lineup today, which includes narrative, animation, documentary shorts as well as music videos. Among them is the world premiere of Kid Cudi’s “Neverland,“ featuring an impressive cast & crew.

The eleven-minute horror-centric music video follows “a 200 year old vampire takes his newly initiated love on her first feed.”

“Neverland” stars performer Kid Cudi (Scott Mescudi), Kiernan Shipka, Brittany Snow (X), Haley Joel Osment, Cary Elwes (Saw), and Brandon Scott (Descendent). That’s one hell of a lineup and marks the on-screen reunion between Mescudi and Snow, his X co-star.

The X connections don’t stop there, either; “Neverland” is helmed by director Ti West, who co-wrote the script for the music video with Mescudi. As if the horror pedigree isn’t already impressive enough, the music video was produced by Monkeypaw Productions, with Jordan Peele serving as executive producer.

Alberto Guerra has been cast as a series regular in Peacock’s upcoming crime series M.I.A., with Edward James Olmos, Billy Burke, and Sônia Braga joining the project in guest-starring roles. Set in South Florida, the drama follows a woman pulled deeper into her family’s criminal operation after a major disruption threatens its survival.
