(June 2005) Plays Frank Chambers in "Postman Rings Twice" play by Andrew Rattenbury, adapted from the James M. Cain novel (Playhouse Theatre, London, England, UK).

While on break from the set of his latest film in 2007, he joined former ambassador Joseph Wilson, Jonathan Richards, former CIA undercover agent Valerie Plame, Mary-Charlotte Domandi, Jane Fonda and Ali MacGraw in reading pieces from the new Eve Ensler book about ending violence against women and girls worldwide. Ticket-sale proceeds from this exclusive event went to various non-profit projects around the world.

Appeared in mid-2007 in a new version of Orange's Gold Spot cinema ads created by Mother London.

Val Kilmer made a personal appearance for the Orchard Beach Classic Car, Truck, and Motorcycle Show in New York in September of 2007. This was a one day non-profit fund raising event to raise money for the families of police officers who were killed in the September 11th terrorist attack.

2007 Award jury member for the White Face Defenders of the Black Hills. This non-profit organization works for Native Americans to limit uranium exploration in southwestern South Dakota and facilitate the cleanup of uranium tailings in the northwestern corner of the state.

Played the role of Hamlet in the 1988 Colorado Shakespeare Festival production of Hamlet in Boulder.

His voice as K.I.T.T. was featured in four 30 second TV commercials for Ford's Mustang in February 2008.

(June 1981 to April 1982) He acted in William Shakespeare's play, "As You Like It," at the Tyrone Guthrie Theater, 725 Vineland Place, Minneapolis, Minnesota with David Warrilow (Jaques) and Patti LuPone in the cast. Liviu Ciulei was director. Santo Loquasto was set and costume designer. Jennifer Tipton was lighting designer. Theodor Grigoriu was composer.

(2019) Rents and runs HelMel Studios in Los Angeles where he showcases his art and screens his filmed one-man Mark Twain show, "Citizen Twain."
