Demi Moore Has 1 Wish For Ex-husband Bruce Willis While He Fights For His Life
Image
Demi Moore is reportedly urgently calling on the Academy to honor her ex-husband, Bruce Willis, with an honorary Oscar, before his declining health robs him of the chance to accept it in person. As the beloved action star battles frontotemporal dementia, Moore and Willis’ family say the time to recognize his legacy is now.

Willis, whose iconic roles in Die Hard and Pulp Fiction helped shape modern action cinema, has never received an Academy Award, honorary or otherwise. Despite being one of Hollywood’s most bankable stars for decades, the lack of recognition has become a source of frustration for those closest to him. A source told RadarOnline.com,

Everybody knows how badly Demi wants a competitive Oscar of her own, and she’s not giving up after the near-miss with last year’s The Substance, But she’s also been waging a shadow campaign for the Oscars to recognize...

Julia Roberts' Only Western May Be Forgotten But It Has A Stacked Cast
Image
Few stars were more synonymous with the glitz and glamor of Hollywood in the 1990s than Julia Roberts. There were better actresses around, such as Oscar-winner Jodie Foster, and plenty of other big hitters challenging for the limelight like Sharon Stone, Demi Moore, Sandra Bullock, and Meg Ryan. Despite this, Roberts still dominated the decade with her grace, style, and sheer charisma, seemingly unable to do any wrong (that dodgy Irish accent in "Mary Reilly" aside) between her massive breakthrough role in "Pretty Woman" and her only Oscar win to date for "Erin Brockovich."

Best known for illuminating the '90s rom-com boom, she was also captivating in glossy thrillers like "Sleeping with the Enemy" and "The Pelican Brief," and even managed to turn very mediocre flicks like "Dying Young" and "Something to Talk About" into commercial successes. One thing she has never been known for is the Western, and...

Taylor Sheridan’s Must-Watch 100% Rotten Tomatoes Series Circles Tom Hardy on Streaming Charts
Image
Taylor Sheridan has a trio of hit shows that are set to return to Paramount+ later this year, but one series that won’t be back with another season is still finding streaming success. Sheridan is the creator of 1923, the Yellowstone prequel show starring Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren as Jacob and Cara Dutton. 1923 Season 2 earned a perfect 100% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, and although it aired its final episode earlier this year in April, the show has still been a consistent force on streaming charts. It’s even closing in on MobLand, the Guy Ritchie-directed series starring Tom Hardy and Pierce Brosnan. MobLand earned a much lower but still respectable 75% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, and the show has already been renewed for a second season, unlike 1923.

Taylor Sheridan is currently hard at work filming the second season of Landman, which is due to premiere this December.

Margaret Qualley’s Startling True Message Behind The Substance: “It is quite masculine”
Image
In the surreal horror-sci-fi trip, The Substance, which saw Margaret Qualley crawling out of Demi Moore’s spine as Sue, a younger, seemingly perfect version of Moore’s character, both actresses had rather bizarre experiences. For Qualley, this movie wasn’t just about acting.

She told Cosmopolitan there was a much deeper meaning behind it.

The movie is not a good touchstone for what femininity is—it is quite masculine in a lot of ways.

As the movie focused more on the idealized version of a female body and beauty standards, Qualley felt the true message behind the film was rather masculine than empowering.

Despite its focus on womanhood and beauty standards, the film doesn’t reflect what she sees as true femininity. Therefore, Qualley critiqued The Substance for representing femininity through an external gaze. That’s what left her traumatized by the experience.

So, Margaret Qualley noted that, despite...

Margaret Qualley Says ‘The Substance’ Made Her Confront ‘Generations of Trauma’
Image
A year after “The Substance” made a splash at Cannes and swept awards season, star Margaret Qualley has reflected on why the project was something of “a nightmare” for her.

In the film, Qualley played Sue, the younger version of aging actress Elizabeth (Demi Moore), who battles to take the (literal) spotlight from her spawn. The sci-fi film landed Moore an array of Best Actress nods, including a nomination at the Oscars.

Qualley told Cosmopolitan that “The Substance” made her confront “generations of trauma” within her own family. Qualley’s mother is fellow actress Andie MacDowell, who actually counts Moore as another former co-star (the duo were in “St. Elmo’s Fire” together).

“’The Substance’ was like entering the eye of the storm. It was like dealing with all of my shit, my mom’s shit, generations of trauma,” Qualley said. “It was a nightmare, being this idyllic, youthful fembot. No...

Taylor Sheridan's 'Landman' Explodes in Popularity Following Blockbuster Season 2 Update
Image
Taylor Sheridan might be the king of the modern Western, but Landman proves he’s just as potent when he trades horses for oil rigs. After a quiet but steady rollout on Paramount+ in late 2024, Sheridan’s latest drama has erupted in popularity this week following a major update: Landman Season 2 is officially arriving in December 2025. The surge in interest was almost immediate. According to FlixPatrol, Landman just broke into the iTunes Top 10 TV shows in the U.S., landing at #8, while also climbing from #8 to #6 on Paramount+’s own Top 10 globally.

Created by Sheridan and Christian Wallace, Landman stars Billy Bob Thornton as Tommy Norris, a grizzled petroleum worker in West Texas navigating the landmines of the oil industry. Season 1 premiered on November 17, 2024, and wrapped in January, with Season 2 greenlit just two months later in March. Filming for the second season quietly kicked off in early April, keeping the turnaround tight — and fans appreciative.

Has Landman Been Renewed for Season 2? Here’s What We Know
Landman (2024)
Landman Season 2 is officially confirmed. Paramount+ announced the renewal in March 2025 following a highly successful first season. This marks a slight shift from the initially expected November release.

What Happened in Landman Season 1?

Landman introduced viewers to Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton), a Texas oil “landman” navigating the cutthroat business world intertwined with crime, family drama, and corporate intrigue. The show explored Tommy’s complex relationships with his boss Monty Miller (Jon Hamm), his dysfunctional family, and the dangerous drug cartel led by Galino (Andy Garcia).

The season finale delivered a jaw-dropping twist: following Monty’s death, Tommy unexpectedly inherits the presidency of M-Tex Oil, facing a precarious financial future and cartel pressures. The personal and business stakes reached new heights, setting up a tense cliffhanger for...

Landman Season 2 Gets an Exciting Update That Will Make Taylor Sheridan Fans Happy
Image
The Taylor Sheridan universe keeps thriving. With the Yellowstone franchise set to continue with multiple spinoffs, Sheridan has other shows that have nothing to do with the Western franchise.

One of them is Landman, starring Billy Bob Thornton. The series premiered on Paramount in late 2024 and became an instant hit, leading to its Season 2 renewal. Per Collider, fans have a lot of reasons to be happy because Landman Season 2 has set a release window for December 2025.

Landman premiered on Paramount+ on Nov. 17, 2024, and started production on Season 2 in early April. Luckily, it will remain consistent with one season a year, as the upcoming entry will follow after 13 months. The announcement is in line with previous reports, which claimed the show is set to return later this year.

Why Everyone Was Wrong About David Mamet and Neil Jordan’s ‘We’re No Angels’
Image
Reader, you have been lied to! Film history is littered with unfairly maligned classics, whether critics were too eager to review the making of rather than the finished product, or they suffered from underwhelming ad campaigns or general disinterest. Let’s revise our takes on some of these films from wrongheaded to the correct opinion.

When Paramount released “We’re No Angels” as its 1989 Christmas movie (and final film of the decade), reviews were mixed and the box office weak. Hard as it may be to believe in the post-“Fockers” era, audiences just weren’t interested in seeing Robert De Niro in a broad comedy, even (especially?) one co-starring Sean Penn and written by David Mamet.

As years passed, the movie’s reputation never really improved, with even its makers acknowledging its flaws. In his 2023 Hollywood memoir, “Everywhere an Oink Oink,” Mamet blamed director Neil Jordan for ruining his script...

Beloved Fantasy Star, 64, Is Secretly a Huge Fan of Taylor Sheridan’s ‘Landman’
Image
Outlander star Graham McTavish knows a thing or two about sweeping dramas with big themes and bigger characters. So when he sings the praises of Landman, the latest series from Taylor Sheridan and Billy Bob Thornton, it’s worth paying attention. Speaking at the Outlander: Blood of My Blood premiere (via Gold Derby), McTavish didn’t mince words. He called Landman one of the shows this year he felt was most deserving of Emmy nominations — even though neither received any.

Despite Landman’s strong ratings, critical acclaim, and a Golden Globe nomination for Billy Bob Thornton, the oil drama was completely shut out of the major Emmy categories when nominations were announced last week. And it wasn’t alone. Not a single one of Sheridan’s six shows currently on air — including Mayor of Kingstown, Yellowstone, 1923, Tulsa King, Lioness, and Landman — received a single nod in marquee categories like acting,...

Tom Hardy’s 75% Rotten Tomatoes Crime Series With a Former James Bond Earns Praise From Beloved Fantasy Star
Image
At the Outlander: Blood of My Blood premiere, Graham McTavish made headlines — not just for promoting Starz’s new prequel series, but for using the red carpet spotlight to throw some love toward Landman and MobLand, two of Paramount+’s most buzzed-about dramas. McTavish, known for playing Dougal MacKenzie in the Outlander universe, and more famously, playing the role of Dwalin for The Hobbit trilogy), didn’t hesitate when asked which shows he thought deserved Emmy attention this year. “Landman and MobLand,” he said firmly, praising Taylor Sheridan’s oil-field epic and Guy Ritchie’s stylish gangster saga as two of the series he couldn't stop watching this year. And he’s not alone in thinking that.

While the Emmys may have completely shut out Sheridan’s Landman — despite a Golden Globe nomination for Billy Bob Thornton — fans have flocked to the series. It became the highest-rated freshman drama...

Is Landman Season 2 Spreading Itself Too Thin After Jon Hamm’s Monty Miller Death?
Image
From the moment Landman season 2 was announced, I’ve had one pressing question: how do you replace a presence as commanding as Jon Hamm’s Monty Miller? As the sharp, calculating CEO of M-Tex, Monty wasn’t just a character; he was the pulse of Landman’s corporate world. His sudden death from a heart attack in season 1’s finale didn’t just shift the plot; it shook the entire structure of Taylor Sheridan’s neo-Western drama.

Now, with Demi Moore’s Cami Miller, Andy Garcia’s cartel-connected Gallino, and Sam Elliott joining the fold, there’s no shortage of star power lined up to step into Monty’s place. Each brings a distinct kind of authority to Tommy Norris’s (Billy Bob Thornton) oil empire, but that’s where my concern kicks in: can Landman juggle all these heavyweights without pulling itself apart?

Tommy is set to rise as...

7 Years Later, Taylor Sheridan’s $75 Million Neo-Western Is a Global Streaming Hit
Image
Taylor Sheridan is deep in the oil fields right now as production continues on Landman Season 2, but long before he ever recruited Billy Bob Thornton to star in his hit series, he wrote the script for a neo-Western film that’s found streaming success seven years later. Sheridan wrote Sicario: Day of the Soldado in 2018, the action sequel that follows the escalating drug war between the United States and Mexico as the drug cartels begin trafficking terrorists across the border. Sicario: Day of the Soldado is streaming for free on Tubi in the United States and on Netflix globally, where it’s become one of the most popular movies in several countries. The film earned scores of 62% from critics and 66% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, and it grossed $75 million at the box office against a $35 million budget.

Denis Villeneuve boarded as director for the first Sicario movie, which stars Emily Blunt,...

The 12 Best Lindsay Lohan Movies, Ranked
Image
In the 2000s, millennials crowned auburn-haired Lindsay Lohan as the teen idol of the era. Unfortunately, like many child stars, Lohan had a difficult time in the industry and took a decade-long break in the 2010s. Still, her films from the late 1990s and mid-2000s remain generational touchstones and comedy classics.

Lohan's more grown-up work is less popular, though there are a few gems in her filmography that she deserves more credit for. More recently, Lohan launched something of a comeback with her series of popular Netflix films, putting her name back on the proverbial marquee once more.

Films aimed at kids and teens aren't always given serious consideration, and Lohan hasn't had the easiest time pleasing critics and keeping the press on her side. Sylvester Stallone’s First Remake Replaces Him With Female Lead After Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Running Man
Image
Sylvester Stallone, who starred in action movies back in the 1980s, ’90s, and the present as well, is a Hollywood icon. Known for his rivalry with Arnold Schwarzenegger, Stallone’s movies (much like Arnold Schwarzenegger) are finally getting a remake.

The twist in the tale is that although Cliffhanger starred Stallone in the lead role in 1993, the remake will replace him with a female star. According to Screenrant, the upcoming remake will be directed by Jaume Collet-Serra with Lily James and Pierce Brosnan in leading roles.

As Hollywood runs dry on original movies and the new generation takes an interest in the older movies, remakes are inevitable. Hollywood has already started this trend with Arnold Schwarzenegger as The Running Man, and recently got a remake starring Glen Powell in the lead role.

However, Cliffhanger is officially the first remake of a Sylvester Stallone action film, and it probably won’t be the last.

Billy Bob Thornton Gets Back to Work in 'Landman' Season 2 Set Images
Image
Billy Bob Thornton is back in his boots. Paramount+’s Landman has officially returned to production for Season 2, and the first set images from this week’s shoot in Dallas prove that Tommy Norris isn’t hanging up his hat anytime soon. Spotted filming Monday morning in the city’s upscale Knox District, Thornton was seen outside the Michelin-recommended restaurant Mister Charles, flanked by extras and dressed in a denim-blazer combo and signature cowboy hat. Production ran between 9 a.m. and 10 p.m., according to notices obtained by The Dallas Morning News, with filming continuing later into the afternoon in Dallas’ Arts District.

Though the shoot wasn’t open to the public, curious pedestrians lined the sidewalk, catching glimpses of the Landman crew, the cast, and the logistical operation that shut down traffic in both directions on Knox Street between Travis and Cole. Flora Street and Crockett Street were also cordoned off nearby.

Angelina Jolie And Denzel Washington's The Bone Collector Roles Came With A Stipulation
Image
Following the success of Jonathan Demme's "The Silence of the Lambs" in 1991, Hollywood released an eight-year-long tidal wave of serial killer thrillers, each one pulpier than the last. This was the era of "Seven," "Copycat," "Along Came a Spider," "Jennifer 8," "See No Evil," "Eye of the Beholder," "Sliver," "Knight Moves," and any number of others. Right at the end of the decade came Phillip Noyce's 1999 thriller "The Bone Collector," based on the airport novel by Jeffery Deaver. Deaver's original novel was the first of the long-running Lincoln Rhyme series, a series that saw its 16th installment published in 2023. Rhyme, thanks to a spinal accident, could not move his body below his neck, and fought crime from his bed, deducting details, looking at pictures, and relying on his team.

In the film adaptation, Denzel Washington played Lincoln Rhyme and Angelina Jolie played his plucky crime-fighting partner, Amelia Donaghy.

Before Landman, Demi Moore And Billy Bob Thornton Worked On A Forgotten '90s Movie
Image
Erotic thrillers used to be big business. Explorers of late-night cable TV in the late '80s and throughout the '90s likely recall the cavalcade of nudity-infused neo-noirs that filled entire blocks of programming. Many of them starred Shannon Tweed. Because sex and sexuality hadn't yet been moved to the internet, erotic thrillers were vital for a generation exploring adult themes and sexual ideas, even if they were always presented as prurient. Erotic thrillers also proved to be big hits in Hollywood. Adrian Lyne made "9½ Weeks" in 1986 and "Fatal Attraction" in 1987, each of them enormous financial successes. Paul Verhoeven kicked the doors open wide with "Basic Instinct" in 1992, a film that made $353 million on a $49 million budget. Sex became a commercial powerhouse.

In 1993, Paramount continued the trend with "Indecent Proposal," also a Lyne film, which dealt with the intersection of money and infidelity. In the film, Demi Moore...

Joaquin Phoenix Feels Bad About That Notorious David Letterman Interview
Image
An interview gives audiences insight into an actor's upcoming project. One of the most effective ways to promote a film, show, album, book, and more is by appearing as a guest on a talk show. There was a time when everyone wanted to book a spot on TheLate Show with David Letterman; an appearance on the talk show was a great way to get exposure and connect with fans. From 1993 to 2015, some of the most popular actors sat in the chairs next to Letterman's desk on stage to chat and laugh. Some prominent celebrities include Demi Moore, Robin Williams, Madonna, Denzel Washington, LL Cool J, and more. Yet, perhaps the most awkward Late Show interview occurred in 2009, when Joaquin Phoenix appeared in character to promote a movie.

According to Deadline, Phoenix was promoting his film I'm Still Here, a mockumentary musical parody of the actor's real life. He announces his...

Dennis Quaid's New Action Movie Now Has a Rotten Tomatoes Score Higher Than His 2024 Oscar Winner
Image
Last year, Dennis Quaid added another huge success to his stacked filmography, playing the role of the slimy producer Harvey in Coralie Fargeat's Oscar-winning The Substance. Although Quaid would play a supporting role under two powerhouse performances from Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley, his character is still vital to the movie's refreshingly bold message, helping it sneak into an impressive Best Picture line-up at the Oscars, on a night it took home the trophy for Best Makeup and Hairstyling.

Adored by critics and almost all of its audience, The Substance boasts not just a golden statue but an impressive, "certified fresh" 89% critics' score on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, alongside an audience rating of 75%. However, just one year later, Quaid is involved in a brand-new action flick that has outperformed The Substance in both categories: Sovereign. Debuting in theaters back on July 11, the same day as James Gunn’s Superman,...

The 15 Saddest Disney Movies, Ranked
Image
Disney is known for tugging at heartstrings. It's a major reason why so many of the studio's films have persevered over the decades. So many people remember watching these movies as kids and learning about the tragedy of death or connecting a little too closely to a family in disarray. Many Disney films, and by extention Pixar Animation productions, take place in fantastical worlds, but they don't sugarcoat harsh realities.

Fortunately, the saddest Disney movies don't really get on the level of something like "Manchester by the Sea," where it becomes unbearable to watch at a certain point. Disney films at least end on an uplifting note, proving that no matter how sad life gets, there's always a silver lining. Still, the following movies can be tough to get through, especially if you're at a point in life where you can really relate to losing a parent or going through a pet's death.

Sandra Bullock’s First Rom-Com That Turned 30 This Year Wanted Her Biggest Hollywood Rival
Image
In 1993, Sandra Bullock launched herself into the spotlight with a supporting role in Demolition Man, followed by her first leading role in the beloved action thriller, Speed, in 1994, and then a well-placed timeless rom-com, While You Were Sleeping, in 1995. Those 3 films transformed and lifted Bullock up through the ranks of legends of the time, like Julia Roberts and Demi Moore, to make her a superstar in her own right.

However, at the time, the Oscar-winning actress hardly had any foothold in the industry, while Moore and Roberts were absolutely at the top of their game. The relative newcomer not only had to carve out a space for herself but also fight against every studio’s first choice actress to become a leading star on her own. The same happened during the casting of While You Were Sleeping as studios passed up on Bullock in favor of the more famous Moore and Roberts.

Despite High Ratings, Emmy Voters Shun Taylor Sheridan and Billy Bob Thornton’s Hit Western
Image
Taylor Sheridan may rule the ratings, but the Television Academy just gave him the cold shoulder — again. Despite high hopes and a full-court press by Landman stars like Billy Bob Thornton, Sheridan’s latest hit was completely shut out of the major Emmy categories when nominations were announced Tuesday morning. And it wasn’t the only one. Not a single one of the six Sheridan-created dramas currently on the air — including Mayor of Kingstown, Yellowstone, 1923, Tulsa King, Lioness, and Landman — landed a single nod in a marquee category like acting, writing, or directing. And yes, we have all noticed. And no, it doesn't make any sense.

Paramount+ had particularly high hopes for Landman, which premiered to strong ratings and marked Sheridan’s latest collaboration with A-list talent. Thornton even scored a Golden Globe nomination for his work as oilman fixer Tommy Norris, which had been seen as a potential Emmy springboard.

How Yellowstone Creator Taylor Sheridan Really Felt About Working With Sam Elliott On 1883
Image
I'm one of those unlucky film lovers who've only become familiar with Sam Elliott's work as an actor well into their adulthood. For some inexplicable reason, I missed Rowdy Herrington's cult classic "Road House" growing up, George P. Cosmatos' beloved Western, "Tombstone," and I was too young and clueless to truly appreciate his brief performance in the Coen brothers' "The Big Lebowski." But I'm happy to report that I'm all caught up with those gems now, which, unsurprisingly, makes me a big Elliott fan.

However, one of the precipitating reasons for that is Taylor Sheridan's epic Western miniseries, "1883," which I consider the absolute pinnacle of his work as a TV writer/creator. It's one of those Westerns that smartly utilizes technological advancements and modern storytelling devices to tell a historical and old-fashioned tale. But without Sam Elliott's Shea Brennan (alongside the rest of that stellar cast), a former Union Army captain,...

‘Ghost’ at 35: How Jerry Zucker pivoted from ‘Airplane!’ and ‘Naked Gun’ spoof comedy to an unlikely Best Picture nominee
Image
At first glance, Jerry Zucker wouldn't seem like the kind of filmmaker to have a ghost of a chance at crafting a Best Picture-nominated film. But that unlikely event came to pass 35 years ago when the codirector of spoof comedies like Airplane! and The Naked Gun made the supernatural romance Ghost. Released on July 13, 1990, the film went on to become the year's biggest domestic box-office hit and a surprise Oscar powerhouse.

Zucker rose to Hollywood fame as a member of the Zucker-Abrahams-Zucker trio that included brother David Zucker and their friend, the late Jim Abrahams. Together, they wrote The Kentucky Fried Movie before helming seminal comedies Airplane! and Top Secret!.

Hot on the heels of their 1986 non-spoof comedy hit Ruthless People, the team locked down a two-year deal with Paramount Pictures. That deal launched with a bang thanks to The Naked Gun, based on their short-lived TV series, Police Squad.

The horror! ‘Sinners’ and ‘The Substance’ lead Fangoria Chainsaw Awards nominations of year’s scariest offerings
Image
The grossest, goriest, and most gratuitous of the year are set to be feted at the 2025 Fangoria Chainsaw Awards.

The horror magazine has unveiled the nominees for its signature awards, which includes the big categories you'd expect — like Best Wide Release and Best Lead Performance — and some you mind not—like Best Video Game and Best Public Domain Resurrection.

The Chainsaw Awards are also among the first opportunities for this year's potential awards frontrunner, Sinners, to flex its muscles. (Metaphorical muscles. Michael B. Jordan's are currently streaming on HBO Max.) Ryan Coogler's period vampire thriller is in contention for Best Wide Release — where it will compete with 28 Years Later — and boasts a total of ten nominations in all.

With an eligibility window that ran from July 2024 to June 2025, the Chainsaw Awards also include some of last year's awards contenders, including The Substance, which tied Sinners for nominations.
