Simon Pegg is reportedly not sure about fans’ reaction to Quentin Tarantino’s abandoned Star Trek movie with Captain Kirk. Tarantino was set to work on an R-rated movie set in the Star Trek universe and had even worked on a script with The Revenant’s Mark L. Smith. However, the movie was shelved in 2020, and the Kelvin timeline still hasn’t had a release.
Pegg revealed recently that he had read the script and that it was something that one could expect from a Tarantino movie. However, he also speculated whether the fans would like it due to the same reason (via Collider).
That was what we call in the business, batsh*t crazy. It was everything you would expect a Quentin Tarantino Star Trek script to be…I don’t know how it would have gone over with the fans, but it certainly would have been an interesting thing.

The news that filmmaker Quentin Tarantino was planning to direct a Star Trek movie was met with surprise and excitement in equal measure by Trekkies. Star Trek 4 had completely stalled at the time, and his R-rated take on the franchise was bound to be unlike anything seen before.
The project never came to fruition, with Paramount Pictures shifting focus to a new prequel movie with Andor filmmaker Toby Haynes attached to direct from a screenplay by Dark Shadows writer Seth Grahame-Smith.
The studio reportedly still intends to make the "final chapter" of the Chris Pine-led era of Star Trek movies, with Steve Yockey (The Flight Attendant) attached to write a new draft of that screenplay. As for Tarantino's scrapped plans, it reportedly boiled down to his desire to helm 10, and only 10, movies.

Simon Pegg is opening up about Quentin Tarantino's infamous never-made Star Trek movie and how insane it would have been!
There are numerous "what if” projects in Star Trek history that never came to fruition. From the “Phase II” TV series of the 1970s to Eddie Murphy in Star Trek IV, the “could have been” projects are often more entertaining than what makes it on screen.
Among all these ideas is that in 2017, Quentin Tarantino announced his desire for an R-rated Star Trek movie, which Mark L. Smith wrote. Obviously, the idea of the man behind Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill taking on Star Trek sent the fandom into a frenzy.
Tarantino kept pushing the project for a few years, but by 2024, it was clear it was dead in the water. Speaking to Collider, Simon Pegg, who played Scotty in the later reboot movies and penned the script for Star Trek Beyond,...

Over the years, the Star Trek franchise has boldly gone where few franchises have gone before, through various TV series, blockbuster films, reboots, and even expansions across multiple timelines. But one of the most intriguing and unexpected Star Trek movies of all time almost came from none other than the director of Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill, Quentin Tarantino.
Quentin Tarantino's Star Trek was pitched asan R-rated fourth Star Trek film in J.J. Abrams' Kelvin Timeline franchise, based on the Star Trek: The Original Series episode, "A Piece of the Action," which features a planet with a culture of 1920s gangsters. Tarantino's Star Trek movie never made it to production, but it has remained a tantalizing what-if.
Now, at Fan Expo Boston, Simon Pegg (who plays Scotty in the Star Trek reboot) gave his candid reaction to Quentin Tarantino's Star Trek movie. Pegg revealed that, although he didn't read the script himself,...

“This process is similar to my acting,” says Timothy Olyphant. “It’s a little something I call winging it.”
The 57-year-old, a cultural fixture since the late ’90s who’s claimed to have found the absolute “sweet spot” of fame, is discussing his approach to ceramics at his Westside studio. And like that dig at his Hollywood career, he’s being modest. Olyphant majored in Studio Art at USC. If you frequent Los Angeles galleries, you might have spotted him — likely in a cowboy hat. “What a cry for attention,” he jokes. “The guy that’s played a cowboy most of his career wears a cowboy hat.”

Quentin Tarantino once dreamed up a concept for a Star Trek movie — and it got a lot further than you might think. The project ultimately never took off, but at Fan Expo Boston, Simon Pegg revealed (via Collider) that J.J. Abrams and producer Lindsey Weber gave him a full breakdown of the idea… and it was every bit as wild as he’d imagined.
“That was what we call in the business batshit crazy,” Pegg said. “It was everything you would expect a Quentin Tarantino ‘Star Trek’ script to be.“
While Pegg seemed interested in seeing a Star Trek movie from Tarantino, he wasn’t sure how fans would have reacted. “I think it would have been such an incredible sort of curio to see Star Trek through his lens,” he said. “I don’t know how it would have gone over with the fans, but it certainly would have been an interesting thing.

Simon Pegg is shedding some light on what Quentin Tarantino’s unmade “Star Trek” movie might have looked like.
During a panel at Fan Expo Boston on Saturday (via Collider), Pegg, who starred as Scotty in the rebooted “Star Trek” trilogy, said he got a breakdown of the film from J.J. Abrams and producer Lindsey Weber, and that it was just as wild as any of Tarantino’s previous works.

About a year ago, it looked like Quentin Tarantino was getting ready to shoot his tenth and final film, The Movie Critic. However, at the eleventh hour, Qt pulled the plug, and his script—which had morphed into a quasi-sequel to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood centering around Brad Pitt’s Cliff Booth—actually got bought by Netflix and is being directed by none other than David Fincher (read all about it here).
However, a new entry in Production List seems to suggest Tarantino may be shooting another film later this year, with them tantalizingly teasing it could be a “greatest hits” type project, with Dp Robert Richardson and stars Brad Pitt, Uma Thurman, and Samuel L. Jackson attached, with a December 1, 2025, shooting start date in Los Angeles.

The 80s marked the twilight years of Charles Bronson’s run as an action hero. He spent most of the decade churning out action films for The Cannon Group, with Death Wish III and Death Wish IV: The Crackdown two notable examples. Yet, of all the movies he made with them, one of the more popular titles was 10 to Midnight, which did something a little different, in that it melded the cop films he was known for with the then-nascent slasher genre. And now, the movie, which was wildly controversial for its nasty flashes of violence, is heading to 4K Blu-ray courtesy of Kino Lorber. No release date is set yet, but the company has promised it’s being completed from a new 4K master.
In 10 to Midnight, Bronson plays a cop who’s going after a serial killer targeting young women. When he catches the killer (Gene Davis) red-handed,...

Before fame found its way with Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction, Quentin Tarantino had written a script titled The Open Road, but left it partway because he couldn’t think of an ending.
Quentin Tarantino is currently working on his 10th and final script for his Hollywood movie, and it should be about the greatest script he could never finish. Talking about it (via FarOut Magazine), Tarantino said that it was 40 pages long and really funny.
Yeah, no one has read that. I never finished it. That was like the first time I really wrote a script. Roger Avary had written a script called Pandemonium Reigns that was forty pages long and really funny.
He continued,
It’s like these two characters on the road and there’s this hitchhiker and it’s a surreal, wild comedy. Then they get to this kind of crazy, surreal town. Then he ended...

With David Fincher currently filming the spin-off to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, The Continuing Adventures of Cliff Booth, we’re going to get a lot more reveals from the set – and that includes those returning from Quentin Tarantino’s film. There is still much to be revealed, but Timothy Olyphant may have let it slip that he is returning as James Stacy, the real-life actor who appeared in Lancer.
Olyphant recently appeared on Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend, where the topic of the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood spin-off was brought up, to which Olyphant mouthed, “I’m in it,” before asking, “Are they filming this?” He then followed that up with, “I don’t know, I don’t know, I don’t know!” The group offered to cut that part out, to which Olyphant replied, “I don’t know, let’s see. I’m hoping I’m in it.

This post contains spoilers for "From Dusk Till Dawn" and its television adaptation.
Robert Rodriguez's "From Dusk Till Dawn" is a strange, chimera-coded beast. The film opens like an action-heavy crime thriller featuring two charismatic leads, but transitions into a campy vampire B-movie halfway through. Such a drastic tonal shift shouldn't work on paper, but writer Quentin Tarantino (who also plays the psychopathic Richard Gecko in the film) weaves a frenetic story that genre hops with great skill and ease. There's also plenty to love here: a show-stopping Salma Hayek who suddenly transforms into a grotesque creature, the complex two-and-fro between Richard and his more suave brother, Seth (George Clooney), and an all-out gorefest sequence that is a lot of fun.
This half-and-half formula might not work for everyone, but "From Dusk Till Dawn" boasts a distinctive identity that deserves appreciation. The opening sequence alone points towards brilliant worldbuilding...

Sydney Poitier as Virgil Tibbs and Rod Steiger as Police Chief Bill Gillespie - In The Heat Of The Night

Opening in US cinemas in the months before the assassination of Martin Luther King, Norman Jewison’s film was and still is a stinging exploration of racial tensions in the country wrapped around a satisfying murder-mystery. Sidney Poitier’s Philly cop Mr Virgil Tibbs finds himself in the wrong place at the wrong time as he is passing through Mississippi. Briefly arrested for murder, he ends up working alongside racist cop Chief Gillespie in order to catch the real killer. Beyond the central performances, which spark off each other like flint off stone, Jewison creates an atmosphere that suggests a community whose problems run much deeper than a single murder.

When you've worked as a film journalist for 25 years, you get used to people asking you to name the greatest movie all time. I always inform the inquirer that my default answer is Philip Kaufman's "The Right Stuff." A masterpiece that pretty much destroyed The Ladd Company, it's a soaring, hilarious, uplifting film that celebrates the best parts of the U.S.' cowboy mentality. It's also a brilliant combination of formats, a masterclass in the use of optical visual effects, and the shortest 192 minutes you'll ever spend watching a movie. Once I get this out of the way, I'll add, "But it depends on the day. Catch me walking out of a screening of Steven Spielberg's 'Jaws,' Spike Lee's 'Do the Right Thing,' or Ernst Lubitsch's 'To Be or Not to Be,' and that might be my answer."

The other day, while in Los Angeles working on a press junket, I had a few hours to kill and decided to stop by probably my favorite movie theater in the world to catch a matinee. And what a matinee it was — they were showing a vintage 35mm print of The Last Starfighter from Quentin Tarantino’s private collection. Before the film, they played a bunch of trailers, including one that sent my nostalgia into overdrive: the original teaser trailer for Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country.
I was ten when this movie hit theatres and was totally mad about Star Trek. I vividly remember that it was part of a year-long celebration of Star Trek’s 25th anniversary, and having seen the movies on TV, this was my first chance to see the original crew on the big screen. My father promised to take me to see it over...

For most films, the title card will say the director's name and then "film," so, for example, "A Steven Spielberg Film" or "A Film By Quentin Tarantino." However, Spike Lee is one of those directors who is always pushing the boundaries of creativity. He is known for his provocative narratives that investigate racial themes, feature deeply complex characters, boast galvanizing hip-hop soundtracks, and kinetic visuals — like his signature double dolly shot where characters appear to float through scenes. The Atlantic describes his films as "unabashedly bold and combative." The majority of Spike Lee's films have the credit, "A Spike Lee Joint."
Why would Spike Lee call his movies a "joint" instead of a film? Let's look at the several meanings of the word. One of the first definitions is a place of entertainment where people gather. This is fitting for Spike Lee's narratives about New York City life, where neighbors come together at casual,...

Amongst the many discussions to be had about the state of Hollywood revolves around the concept of the movie star. Over the last two decades, it appears that audiences have flocked to theaters primarily for pre-existing intellectual properties, with franchises such as Marvel, DC, and "Star Wars" dominating the box office. In some cases, the filmmaker may serve as the marquee, particularly if your name is Christopher Nolan, where you have earned so much trust after years of quality filmmaking with audiences that a three-hour R-rated biopic like "Oppenheimer" can nearly gross $1 billion at the box office. With that in mind, star power no longer carries the same weight that it used to, but there are a few actors who still command such prestige with each of their new releases. One of those actors is Academy Award-winner Leonardo DiCaprio.

The last theatrically release "Star Trek" movie, Justin Lin's "Star Trek Beyond," was released way back in July of 2016, more than nine years ago. It was the third film in the rebooted Kelvin continuity, which featured a hip, hot new cast playing familiar characters from the original "Star Trek" series. It was successful -- it made over $343 million on a $185 million budget -- but those numbers were considered a disappointment. The future of "Star Trek" movies was thrown into flux.
The following year, "Star Trek: Discovery" debuted on CBS All Access, marking the return of "Star Trek" to TV for the first time in 12 years, and a proud return to the original, non-Kelvin continuity. CBS All Access, which later became Paramount+, began flooding its service with piles of new "Star Trek" shows -- some good, some bad -- and the franchise was officially headed in a new direction.

Of course, the film found massive success, and the reviews are enough to prove Cregger’s genius. The horror flick was released recently and is director Zach Cregger’s second venture into the field of horror (his first being Barbarian in 2022).
Zach Cregger’s ‘Weapons’ earns $18.2M in the film’s domestic opening day.

Mild "Weapons" spoilers follow.
Zach Cregger's excellent new horror film "Weapons" takes an unusual storytelling approach. Rather than stick with one linear narrative, Cregger paints a mosaic, weaving a sprawling tale from several different perspectives. Of course, Cregger didn't invent this method of movie storytelling — but you don't usually see it applied to horror movies. Instead, this is the type of format used by filmmakers like Robert Altman — see "Nashville" and "Short Cuts" as prime examples. Quentin Tarantino's breakout hit "Pulp Fiction" also followed a similar path, telling several interconnected stories from various points of time.
And then, of course, there's Paul Thomas Anderson's gargantuan drama "Magnolia." Released in 1999, Anderson's film — which clocks in at a whopping 188 minutes — follows several different interconnected characters around Los Angeles as they cross paths over a short period of time. After Anderson broke out in a big way with "Boogie Nights,...

Timothy Olyphant accidentally reveals that he might return to star in the David Fincher-directed sequel to Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. With a script penned by Tarantino, Brad Pitt will reprise his role as Cliff Booth in Netflix's new movie, currently in production. Olyphant previously played James Stacy, an actor who starred in the fictional Western TV series Lancer.
Set in the late 1970s, eight years after the events in the original film, Fincher's spinoff will tune into a chapter in Cliff's life when he worked as a fixer in the industry. So far, the confirmed cast includes Scott Caan, Elizabeth Debicki, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Carla Gugino, Holt McCallany, Jb Tadena, and Corey Fogelmanis.

The delightful "Freakier Friday" is in theaters this weekend, and it's a wonderful reprise for Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan, as the two stars of the beloved "Freaky Friday" remake from 2003 return to the body-swapping formula. But this time they've got company, and it's not just "Weapons" at the box office.
Julia Butters (above left) joins the cast as Harper, the rebellious, surf-loving, teenage daughter of Anna (Lohan), and Sophia Hammons plays Lily, the daughter of Anna's soon-to-be-husband Eric (Manny Jacinto), who just wants to go back to her home in London, so she can study to be a fashion designer. Harper and Lily are completely at odds with one another, and the last thing they want is to become a blended family, because it likely means one of them is going to end up somewhere they don't want to be.

Quentin Tarantino has decided that he’s only going to direct ten feature films, then retire from that part of his career. For a full year, we were hearing that his tenth and final film was going to be something called The Movie Critic, which would reunite him with Brad Pitt, reprising the role of stuntman Cliff Booth from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. But then, Tarantino decided to scrap the project. Given that Pitt won an Oscar for playing Cliff Booth, he was understandably disappointed that the movie wouldn’t be happening – and, in a shocking turn of events, he got Tarantino to agree to let another director bring the script for The Movie Critic to the screen! Pitt has reteamed with director David Fincher for the film, which may or may not be called The Continuing Adventures of Cliff Booth now – and below, we have put together...

Brandon Sklenar doesn’t just chew scenery; he savors it. His absolute favorite film? Dumb and Dumber. Indeed, the actor confided to Sydney Sweeney (via Interview Magazine), letting the world know that beneath the stoic gravitas of 1923 lies a heart deeply attuned to offbeat humor. In a candid chat with The Housemaid co-star Sweeney, Sklenar revealed not just his unexpected taste in movies but the mosaic of contradictions that make up his career, mind, and method.
Dumb and Dumber. I could recite that entire movie shamelessly.
I know. My knowledge of movies is dumb and vast, and it takes up most of my brain. And I’m really good with history in general, and film history.
From bingeing quotes to obsessively Googling the history of buildings he films in, the star of Taylor Sheridan’s 1923 is a walking IMDb with a side of architectural nerdery.

In Episode 5 of The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3, Jeremiah and Belly share a dance under the fireworks. It’s more than a cute, feel-good moment – it’s a deliberate wink to Quentin Tarantino’s 1994 classic Pulp Fiction. With Chuck Berry’s “You Never Can Tell” playing, the scene channels the famous twist dance once owned by Uma Thurman and John Travolta.
Jenny Han actually planted the seed for this in her third book, where Jeremiah tells Belly that dancing to this song at their wedding would be his one big request. Belly turns him down, saying it’s too silly for a wedding. The show flips that dynamic – here, it’s Belly who surprises Jeremiah with both the song and the dance.

Is WrestleMania going to Saudi Arabia? According to exclusive reports from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (via The Takedown), a potential move might be taken by WWE where the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will be getting its own WrestleMania from 2027. Thus, staging the same PPV twice a year, once in the United States and the other in Saudi Arabia. The report said,
It’s been well known that Saudi Arabia has been pushing for a WrestleMania for years now, and history shows that they are willing to pay a giant fee to get it. This could also turn into a ‘Super WrestleMania’ situation, akin to the Greatest Royal Rumble, by having two WrestleManias in 2027 instead of one.

Made on a humble budget of $38 million, Zach Cregger‘s Weapons is already hurtling towards breaking even with $5.7 million in preview earnings and $25 million to $30 million collection on the opening weekend (Variety). Anything beyond the break-even point of $38 million will immediately count toward profit for the Josh Brolin suburban horror.
Despite being deeply embedded in the horror category, Cregger isn’t afraid of his film being too saturated for the genre. Instead, Weapons embarks on a journey to terrorize its audience with the story of 17 missing schoolchildren who simply vanish into the night for no reason, sending the townspeople scrambling for answers.

Timothy Olyphant accidentally revealed that he’s set to star in Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” sequel “The Adventures of Cliff Booth” directed by David Fincher.
Olyphant’s slip up happened while he was appearing on Conan O’Brien’s podcast “Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend” on Friday. At the time O’Brien mentioned that he had heard whispers about there being a second chapter to the 2019 film.
“There was talk of maybe being other projects coming out …,” O’Brien said.
“There is! There’s a sequel that Tarantino wrote and [director David] Fincher’s directing about Brad Pitt’s killer,” O’Brien’s co-host Matt Gourley said.
That’s when Olyphant silently mouthed “I’m in it” to Gourley.
“Are they filming this?” Olyphant questioned, realizing he was on camera while sharing the supposed reveal.
He quickly cleared the air by saying he’s not sure if he’ll actually be in it.

Roman Reigns is Hollywood-bound, and he has adopted the Quentin Tarantino strategy that will make him the next Dwayne Johnson. During an exclusive interview with Vanity Fair, The Tribal Chief spilled the beans on how he decided to be extremely selective about his films, similar to Tarantino, keeping his calendar open for other ventures.
While talking to the media outlet, Reigns shared that his WWE contract is nearing its end, and he thinks that it’s time to take on a less physically intense form of entertainment. Thus, hinting at transitioning to the film industry and doing roles that intrigue him. He said,
After I finish the contract that I’m in, we probably got another year or two max. Then it’s time to take on a less physical form of entertainment. I almost want to model it after Tarantino, where we’re not just doing anything and everything.

It's been nine years since Star Trek Beyond hit theaters, and there are still no more Star Trek movies on the long-range scanners, even as the franchise returned to the small screen. However, Simon Pegg, who starred as Montgomery "Scotty" Scott in all three of the J.J. Abrams-led big-screen reboot films, thinks that's about to change with the recent acquisition of Paramount by Skydance. He discussed the situation at a panel at the Stlv Star Trek convention in Las Vegas this week.
Pegg noted that David Ellison, the chairman of the new media conglomerate, is "a big Star Trek fan," and knows "he cares about the series." Pegg, personally, would love it, despite the tragic death of Anton Yelchin, who starred as Pavel Chekov in the films: "I love those guys. And despite how we had a tragedy in our group, which was extremely painful, it would be wonderful to come together again.

Zach Cregger started his entertainment career in the world of comedy as part of the Whitest Kids U' Know troupe. But in 2022, Cregger jumped from humor to horror with "Barbarian," a buzzworthy flick that wowed genre fans with a series of jaw-dropping twists and turns no one saw coming. The film made Cregger a hot name in horror, and after producing this year's excellent "Companion," Cregger is back in the director's chair with "Weapons."
Like "Barbarian," Cregger has once again crafted a film where the element of surprise is key (you can read my spoiler-free review right here). The fantastic marketing for the film sets up the basic premise: One night at 2:17 Am, a group of kids from the same small town elementary school class mysteriously leave their house, run into the darkness of their suburban neighborhood, and seemingly vanish without a trace. At first glance, the new Paramount has a 2026 slate that looks a little bare – only five films slated for release. But studio insiders told TheWrap on Thursday that three other films that are deep in post-production are on course for release in 2026.
The first is “Heart of the Beast,” a survival thriller from “Suicide Squad” director David Ayer starring Brad Pitt as an Army special forces vet who must survive in the Alaskan wilderness with his retired combat dog after a plane crash. Also starring J.K. Simmons and with Damien Chazelle as executive producer, it will mark Pitt’s first film since he set a new career high at the box office with Apple’s “F1.”
The other two films are a pair of horror projects from Paramount’s production deal with 18hz, the company founded by former DC Films chief Walter Hamada after his exit from the superhero label: “Primate,...

The Weapons‘ cold opening scenes of a child narrator and kids running reminded us of Magnolia. Although there were no running kids, the two films shared a similarity between the cold opens that Zach Cregger had mentioned earlier.
Magnolia is hailed as Tom Cruise‘s darkest movie yet, since the 1999 film delved into family drama, personal lives, and the intertwining of professional lives. However, the cold open for Magnolia starts with a narrator narrating a chain of events that transpired before the court scene.
The story starts with a person attempting suicide. This narration later goes on to a couple who are having an argument several floors below. The wife shoots her husband with a shotgun (which she thought was empty), and the person falling from the building is hit by the pellets, leading to her death.

Quentin Tarantino‘s seminal movie, Pulp Fiction, forever changed Hollywood by shattering one of its long-held traditions, i.e., chronological storytelling, and Christopher Nolan has been a fan of it ever since. Speaking about the film, he revealed how: “There’s this era of chronological conservatism that Pulp Fiction pretty much brought to a close” [via @NolanAnalyst/X].
Considering Christopher Nolan’s range of films, from Memento to Tenet, it’s perfectly understandable how Pulp Fiction might have influenced the then-young dreamer into falling in love with non-linear structures in storytelling that later became his whole career’s modus operandi.

If you’ve been sleepwalking through the horror releases of 2025, Weapons is your wake-up slap. Directed by Zach Cregger (the same guy who blindsided everyone with Barbarian), Weapons isn’t just the best horror movie of the year, it might be the best movie, full stop. It’s horror with a PhD, a six-pack and zero chill. Now, before we get into it, here’s a piece of advice: go in blind. The less you know, the more it’ll mess with your head, in the best way. But if you absolutely need a reason to buy a ticket (and you do), here’s your breadcrumb: a group of school kids all wake up at exactly 2:17 Am, bolt out of their homes, and vanish into the night. No explanation. Naturally, their parents lose it. And when the cops drop the ball, one desperate father decides to go full detective mode.
The creation of Justified: City Primeval was only possible when prolific director Quentin Tarantino had conversations with lead actor Timothy Olyphant about a spin-off series of the original Justified series. At one point, he wanted to adapt the original 1980 City Primeval novel into a film.
This is how much he resonated with Leonard’s original story, which translated to the love for the show that it was adapted into later. According to co-showrunner Michael Dinner (via IndieWire), Olyphant was working with the director on Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, where they came up with the idea.
Despite his love for the Western genre of entertainment, Tarantino also once expressed how he felt about Taylor Sheridan‘s Yellowstone series, calling it just a soap opera at its core.

Quentin Tarantino has diminished the value of Denis Villeneuve‘s Dune movies, citing the repetitive nature of remakes and reboots. However, Villeneuve couldn’t care less about the veteran filmmaker’s opinion. During an interview on The Bret Easton Ellis Podcast, Qt revealed:

After creating the Thanksgiving faux trailer for the Robert Rodriguez / Quentin Tarantino double feature Grindhouse back in 2007, Eli Roth wanted to make an entire feature out of faux trailers, a project he called Trailer Trash. Trailers he teased for that included Nascar Dog, Bear Witness, and Farmageddon, plus collaborations with Edgar Wright, Robert Rodriguez, Peter Berg, Howard Stern, and Greg Nicotero, among others. Sadly, Trailer Trash never happened – but we did get a Thanksgiving movie eventually. And today, a new Roth faux trailer has dropped online! It’s called The Piano Killer and it will be playing in theatres with the bonkers splatterfest Jimmy and Stiggs, but you can watch it right now in the embed above.
Note that the faux trailer for The Piano Killer ends with the promise that the film is coming in 2042, a nod to the fact that it took seventeen years for the Thanksgiving movie to get made.

John Travolta was cast in Pulp Fiction thanks to iconic director Quentin Tarantino, whose love for cinema essentially saved Travolta’s career. The director credited hiring Travolta for Pulp Fiction because of the actor’s performance in a 1981 film called Blow Out.
According to an archived video on YouTube, Tarantino was seen famously recalling the 1981 movie as a means for him to discover the talent of John Travolta. The director called the 1981 Brian De Palma movie “some of Brian De Palma’s finest film”.
Means it’s one of the greatest films ever made because as we all know Brian De Palma is one of the finest directors of his generation.
The 1981 movie was about a sound editor who accidentally records a murder and consequently finds himself in danger. Despite his lead role in Blow Out, John Travolta had found himself in a pit since his career seemed to be faltering.

During the movie’s premiere, he spoke with Variety about the same, saying how he wondered: “Is there a way I can do it again?”
The second installment is built upon an epic redemption arc of the criminal crew and revisits our beloved characters, but increases the stakes with a brand-new villain squad, sharp humor, and more. But for Perifel, the real stakes were recreating the same essence that made The Bad Guys resonate with the audience.
