Chad Stahelski's Highlander reboot has found its villain, with Dave Bautista in final talks to play the immortal barbarian known as The Kurgan, who was memorably brought to life by Clancy Brown in the '80s movie.

The Kurgan, or Victor Kruger as he goes by in modern times, is one of the world's oldest immortals, emerging as the nemesis of Connor MacLeod (Henry Cavill) after "killing" him on the battlefield in 1536. Bautista was actually circling this role back in 2015, for an earlier take on the property that was set to be helmed by Cedric Nicolas-Troyan.

Russell Crowe is also on board as MacLeod's mentor and fellow immortal warrior, Ramirez, who was played by Sean Connery in the 1986 original. Industry actress Marisa Abela will play the female lead.

The Shawshank Redemption is based on a novella by Stephen King called Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption. After years of swords clashing in development limbo, the Highlander reboot is finally gearing up to swing into production—and Henry Cavill just confirmed he’s sharpening his blade. The former Man of Steel star told The Hollywood Reporter that his “big summer plans” are entirely focused on Highlander, the long-gestating fantasy action reboot being helmed by John Wick director Chad Stahelski. Cavill is set to lead the Amazon Studios epic as the immortal warrior at the heart of the franchise—and he couldn’t be more thrilled.

“Highlander! That is taking all of my focus. It’s a project that I’m extremely excited about. This character is going to be a lot of fun to play, and I’m loving working with Chad Stahelski. He is a very talented man.”

Fans had already speculated that Cavill’s newly rugged, long-haired look might be for the role—and now it’s official.

The Highlander reboot has gotten an official update from star Henry Cavill. Highlander was originally a 1986 epic fantasy film about an immortal Scottish swordsman who must fight the last of his immortal enemies, directed by Russell Mulcahy and featuring Christopher Lambert in the lead role, alongside Sean Connery, Clancy Brown, and Roxanne Hart.

A Highlander reboot has been talked about for over a decade, but it was not until a while later that the plans for this project further materialized. Said reboot would sub out Lambert for Cavill, and put John Wick's Chad Stahelski in the director's seat. Russell Crowe and Marisa Abela will also appear in the film.

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Cavill spoke about his role in Highlander. Cavill said that the film is "taking all of [his] focus" and "it's a project that [he's] extremely excited about." He also singled out and praised the director.

The series creator of The CW's Good Cop/Bad Cop series addressed the show's renewal chances amid the ongoing surge of views on Amazon Prime Video. Matthew Rhys is officially voicing Dinosaurus in Invincible. Fans had been wondering who he was playing since his casting was first teased, and now Robert Kirkman has confirmed it.

In the announcement video, the cast was surprised with the news, and fans spotted Rhys had joined the voice cast, but his character wasn’t revealed until now. We're still quite a while away from the 2026 season 4 premiere, but Prime Video clearly has every confidence in the show's longevity, and has now announced that the adult animated series has been renewed for a fifth season.

The streamer has also revealed that Matthew Rhys has joined the season 4 voice cast, but his role is being kept under wraps. Could it be Thragg, perhaps?

Mark Grayson very nearly met his end at the hands of the bloodthirsty (even for a Viltrumite) villain known as Conquest, but he's going to come up against an even tougher opponent in season 4: Grand Regent Thragg.

There are a number of incredibly powerful characters in the world of Invincible, but a lot of fans would consider Thragg to be at least among the most formidable.

Prime Video giveth and Prime Video taketh away. It may have cancelled a great show like The Wheel of Time, leaving fans like me in a lurch. But it's getting an early start on the fifth season of Invincible, the hyper-violent animated superhero series based on the comics by Robert Kirkman.

How early? According to a new video featuring the cast members in the recording booth, they're already done with the voice acting, which means they're already done with the writing, which means they're well ahead of schedule. Season 3 wrapped up back in March and season 4 is due out until sometime in 2026. At this rate, we can expect season 5 in 2027, meaning we'll actually be getting a new season of Invincible every year. In an age where more and more shows go multiple years between new seasons, this is good news.

The Penguinstar Colin Farrell opens up about his early worries that the show would never happen.

Speaking to Variety, Farrell was asked if there was ever a time when he was worried that The Penguin wouldn't actually go through production. "Yeah, a couple, like the during the strike," Farrell replied. "And in a world where they can make a Batgirl film and then just can it. I don't understand it, the debits and credits and ledgers and, fucking, all that stuff, but they can decide that it's economically advantageous to just shelve a $90 million film that people have put so much effort into it. You better believe it."
