The 12 Best Marvel And DC Animated Shows, Ranked
Image
Live-action superhero movies may dominate the box office, but there's something to be said about adapting a beloved hero into an animated television series. A 22-episode season (remember those?) allows for a greater variety of stories to be told week to week (instead of waiting years on end to get a sequel). And while Marvel has (somewhat) perfected the idea of a cinematic universe, an animated series can dive into the wilder, often stranger mythos of these characters without getting bogged down in questions like, "Will this alienate a wider audience?"

With that in mind, it's no wonder why there have been so many acclaimed DC and Marvel cartoons over the years. Some might say these animated adaptations are the definitive source for these characters, perfectly translating them into another medium without losing what made them special in the first place. With an equal representation from each of the big...

Gotg Star Dave Bautista Joins Henry Cavill In Highlander Reboot As The Villainous Kurgan
Image
"I have something to say... It's better to burn out than to fade away!"

Chad Stahelski's Highlander reboot has found its villain, with Dave Bautista in final talks to play the immortal barbarian known as The Kurgan, who was memorably brought to life by Clancy Brown in the '80s movie.

The Kurgan, or Victor Kruger as he goes by in modern times, is one of the world's oldest immortals, emerging as the nemesis of Connor MacLeod (Henry Cavill) after "killing" him on the battlefield in 1536. Bautista was actually circling this role back in 2015, for an earlier take on the property that was set to be helmed by Cedric Nicolas-Troyan.

Russell Crowe is also on board as MacLeod's mentor and fellow immortal warrior, Ramirez, who was played by Sean Connery in the 1986 original. Industry actress Marisa Abela will play the female lead.

"My selling point was, to [Henry Cavill], look, you've...

Dave Bautista Set To Star In Both Chad Stahelski’s Highlander Reboot And Road House 2 At Amazon
Image
Of all the WWE superstars who've traded the squared circle for the cinematic stage, Dave Bautista is one of the greats. From Guardians Of The Galaxy to Knock At The Cabin, Dune to Glass Onion, and from The Boy And The Heron to The Last Showgirl, the artist formerly known as Batista has left no genre stone unturned in his quest to master a new craft. Now, the born-again thespian has just landed not one, but two major new gigs: a key villain role in Chad Stahelski's Highlander reboot, and a starring slot opposite Jake Gyllenhaal in Road House 2.

Per Deadline's sidebar 'The Dish', Bautista is rapidly closing in on deals to star in both buzzy projects. In Stahelski's long-gestating Highlander — which is set to see Henry Cavill take on the role of MacLeod alongside Russell Crowe's mentor Ramirez and Marisa Abela's mysterious new...

Highlander | Dave Bautista to play villain in the reboot
Image
The Highlander reboot appears to have its villain, as word gets out that Dave Bautista could play Kurgan in Chad Stahelski’s new film.

Almost 30 years on from the 1986 original, Highlander is getting a remake courtesy of John Wick director Chad Stahelski. Filming is said to be getting underway this autumn, and it sounds as though the production has slotted in a major piece in its casting puzzle: Dave Bautista is said to be in talks to star as the villain according to Deadline.

Assuming the meetings and form signing all go off without a hitch, this means Bautista will play The Kurgan – the towering, bloodthirsty villain played with wild-eyed relish by Clancy Brown in the first film. He’ll do battle over the centuries with Henry Cavill’s fellow immortal, Connor MacCleod (previously played by Christopher Lambert), while Russell Crowe will replace Sean Connery as the flamboyant mentor, Ramirez.

Highlander reboot lands MCU star for the villainous lead
Image
According to a new report from The Hollywood Reporter, the upcoming Highlander reboot has found its villain in the hulking form of Dave Bautista!

40 years after its release, Highlander remains a wonderful cult favorite movie. It starred Christopher Lambert as Connor MacLeod, a 15th-century Scotsman who’s killed in battle only to become part of a race of Immortals among humanity. They can recover from almost any wound with the ability to die only to return to life with their wounds healed. The one death they can’t return from is decapitation.

These Immortals play “the Game,” a duel where the winner beheads his enemy. That unleashes the "Quickening," a massive energy surge that transfers the loser’s power to the winner. The ultimate goal is the “Prize,” supposedly the power of every Immortal who ever lived. That leads to the franchise’s tag line, “There can be only one.

Image
Dave Bautista is bringing the 1980s back, one action franchise at a time. He's now set to star in two major revivals of '80s VHS action classics from Amazon MGM Studios. He's said to be close to signing on for Road House 2, the sequel to the Jake Gyllenhaal-led remake of the Patrick Swayze brawler, and will also star in Chad Stahelski's revival of the immortal Highlanderfranchise. Image
AMC+ has been thriving lately, between the premiere of Shazad Latif's acclaimed swashbuckling 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea prequel series Nautilus and the return of The Walking Dead: Dead City for Season 2 back in May. In the past week, 2019's The Mortuary Collection had overtaken the Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan-led spin-off series on the platform's streaming charts, ranking as high as fifth overall. Notably, it features one of Hollywood's brightest young stars, Jacob Elordi, in a starring role, making it a fitting watch ahead of his latest horror role in Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein.

The Mortuary Collection made its debut at Fantastic Fest in 2019 to rave reviews before coming to Shudder for the spooky season in 2020. As the name suggests, it features a collection of creepy stories...

The Shawshank Redemption is currently streaming on Peacock in the United States, where it’s become one of the most popular movies for the streamer, sitting at #5 on the platform at the time of writing. The film earned impeccable scores of 89% from critics and 98% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, but it grossed only $29 million at the box office against a $25 million budget.

Image
NBC has recently added one of the most beloved movies ever made, The Shawshank Redemption, to its Peacock streaming service. This classic 1994 prison drama has long been praised for its powerful story and memorable performances, and now Peacock subscribers can watch it anytime.

Image
After years of swords clashing in development limbo, the Highlander reboot is finally gearing up to swing into production—and Henry Cavill just confirmed he’s sharpening his blade. Henry Cavill's Long-Awaited Fantasy Action Reboot Is "Taking Of All My Focus" As A Filming Start Nears
Image
The Highlander reboot has gotten an official update from star Henry Cavill. Highlander was originally a 1986 epic fantasy film about an immortal Scottish swordsman who must fight the last of his immortal enemies, directed by Russell Mulcahy and featuring Christopher Lambert in the lead role, alongside Sean Connery, Clancy Brown, and Roxanne Hart.

A Highlander reboot has been talked about for over a decade, but it was not until a while later that the plans for this project further materialized. Said reboot would sub out Lambert for Cavill, and put John Wick's Chad Stahelski in the director's seat. Russell Crowe and Marisa Abela will also appear in the film.

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Cavill spoke about his role in Highlander. Cavill said that the film is "taking all of [his] focus" and "it's a project that [he's] extremely excited about." He also singled out and praised the director.

Robert Kirkman Finally Reveals Matthew Rhys’ ‘Invincible’ Role
Image
Matthew Rhys is officially voicing Dinosaurus in Invincible. Fans had been wondering who he was playing since his casting was first teased, and now Robert Kirkman has confirmed it.

Speaking during his panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2025, the creator of the show shared that Rhys will be bringing the dangerous and unpredictable Dinosaurus to life in the upcoming season.

Rhys, known for The Americans and Perry Mason, had been announced as part of the voice cast last week when Prime Video revealed that Invincible was renewed for a fifth season.

That announcement came with a video of the cast learning the news. Fans were excited to see Rhys join the group but had no idea which character he’d be voicing, until now.

Image
Matthew Rhys is officially part of the Invincible universe. During his panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2025, series creator Robert Kirkman finally let fans in on a secret, Rhys is voicing Dinosaurus, a pretty wild and dangerous character in the story.

If you’ve been following the show, you’ll remember that just last week Prime Video announced Invincible is coming back for a fifth season. Season four is still on the way, but the renewal news was a big deal.

In the announcement video, the cast was surprised with the news, and fans spotted Rhys had joined the voice cast, but his character wasn’t revealed until now. Kirkman cleared that up at Sdcc, sharing that Rhys will play Dinosaurus, a separate personality of Dr. David Anders who believes in fixing the world… even if it means a lot of destruction.

Why Angela Let Dexter Go Answer Gets Revisted In 'Resurrection' Premiere - But Some Fans Don't Buy It
Image
Angela Bishop (Julia Jones) had a valid yet confusing reason for letting Dexter go in the finale of Dexter: New Blood. Angela, the chief of police in Iron Lake, New York, was spearheading the investigation into the disappearances of women in her town, including her best friend, Iris Broussard. She ultimately became Dexter's love interest in the crime series, but she was unaware of his past as a serial killer.

Eventually, Angela discovered Dexter's secret, tying him to his past as the Bay Harbor Butcher. As a result, she became conflicted over her feelings for him, believing that he may have something to do with those poor women in her town (including Iris).

Dexter: New Blood is the sequel to the original Dexter series. It follows the titular character's attempt to start a new life in Iron Lake. The star-studded cast includes Michael C. Hall, Jack Alcott, Julia Jones, Jennifer Carpenter,...

Jason Statham's Divisive 42% Rotten Tomatoes Thriller Leaves Streaming Soon
Image
If you’ve been putting off watching Homefront, consider this your official warning: The Jason Statham revenge flick is leaving Prime Video on July 31. Yes, the same film that’s somehow managed to outstream Titanicin 2024 is about to be pulled from your queue — and you really shouldn’t miss your chance to see Statham at his most Southern-fried and skull-shatteringly effective. Released in 2013, Homefront is a blue-collar, bullet-laced action thriller directed by Gary Fleder and written by none other than Sylvester Stallone himself. The premise is peak "Dad Movie": Statham plays Phil Broker, an ex-DEA agent trying to raise his daughter in a sleepy Louisiana town. Unfortunately, this particular town comes with meth labs, backwoods crime, and one James Franco chewing up the bayou as local drug kingpin Gator Bodine. Things escalate. Bones break.

It’s the kind of role Statham was born to play — tight-lipped, tank-topped, and terrifyingly competent in a fight.

Image
It may have been a long wait between the first two seasons, but it’s clear that Prime Video is happy with the ratings for Invincible. The series has just scored an early season 5 renewal.

Yes, this is early. Invincible season 4 is currently in production, and it’s not set to be released on Prime Video until 2026. The third season came to an end earlier this year, and it was met with praise as well as tears, so it’s not surprising that Amazon wants to bring us more of it.

Invincible Gets Early Season 5 Renewal; Matthew Rhys Joins Season 4 Voice Cast - Is He Playing Thragg?
Image
Some great news for Invincible fans here!

We're still quite a while away from the 2026 season 4 premiere, but Prime Video clearly has every confidence in the show's longevity, and has now announced that the adult animated series has been renewed for a fifth season.

The streamer has also revealed that Matthew Rhys has joined the season 4 voice cast, but his role is being kept under wraps. Could it be Thragg, perhaps?

Also yes, that is the legendary Matthew Rhys, joining Seasons 4 and 5 as [Redacted By The Gda]

— Invincible (@InvincibleHQ) July 17, 2025

Mark Grayson very nearly met his end at the hands of the bloodthirsty (even for a Viltrumite) villain known as Conquest, but he's going to come up against an even tougher opponent in season 4: Grand Regent Thragg.

There are a number of incredibly powerful characters in the world of Invincible, but a lot of fans would consider Thragg to be at least among the most formidable.

Invincible is already done recording season 5
Image
Prime Video giveth and Prime Video taketh away. It may have cancelled a great show like The Wheel of Time, leaving fans like me in a lurch. But it's getting an early start on the fifth season of Invincible, the hyper-violent animated superhero series based on the comics by Robert Kirkman.

How early? According to a new video featuring the cast members in the recording booth, they're already done with the voice acting, which means they're already done with the writing, which means they're well ahead of schedule. Season 3 wrapped up back in March and season 4 is due out until sometime in 2026. At this rate, we can expect season 5 in 2027, meaning we'll actually be getting a new season of Invincible every year. In an age where more and more shows go multiple years between new seasons, this is good news.

The gang's all here in this video: we have Steven Yeun...

‘The Fix’ Review
Image
Stars: Grace Van Dien, Robyn Rossouw, Tafara Nyatsanza, Keenan Arrison, Daniel Sharman, Ryan Kruger, Clancy Brown | Written and Directed by Kelsey Egan

The Fix is the latest film from South African writer/director Kelsey Egan and in keeping with the themes of her previous features, Glasshouse and I Carry You Always, it’s set in a future where pollution has rendered the Earth toxic. Unlike those two films though, it’s not to the point where people need to stay indoors, you can go out with the aid of a filtered mask or, if you can afford it, a drug known as Air Remedy, Airem for short, manufactured by pharmaceutical giant Aethera.

As a matter of fact, The Fix opens with model Ella McPhee shooting a commercial for Airem. Despite having landed the lucrative assignment of being their spokesmodel, she’s not a happy person. She lost her mother to suicide a year ago today.

Although Invinciblefans are still waiting for a release date for Season 4 and recovering from the insane ending to Season 3, the series has gotten a big, if somewhat expected, update. It also confirms that all the voice work is already done, teeing up another relatively quick return after Season 4 closes.

"Season f—ing five. You know what that's called? A success," Walton Gogginsopens the video with, touting the universal acclaim Invincible has had so far. It's rare that a streaming series, let alone an animated one, reaches five seasons nowadays, but the story of Mark Grayson...

'I Did Get Nervous': Colin Farrell Feared The Penguin Was Going To Be Shut Down By The Studio
Image
The Penguinstar Colin Farrell opens up about his early worries that the show would never happen.

Speaking to Variety, Farrell was asked if there was ever a time when he was worried that The Penguin wouldn't actually go through production. "Yeah, a couple, like the during the strike," Farrell replied. "And in a world where they can make a Batgirl film and then just can it. I don't understand it, the debits and credits and ledgers and, fucking, all that stuff, but they can decide that it's economically advantageous to just shelve a $90 million film that people have put so much effort into it. You better believe it."

"When we were in the middle of the strike, I remember saying to my sister, 'I don't know if we're gonna go back to this. I don’t know if we’re gonna finish it.' I did get nervous," Farrell continued.

12 Actors Who Had Multiple Star Wars Roles
Image
For many years, the majority of "Star Wars" actors were identified by one signature role, save some of the shorter, alien-costumed actors like Jack Purvis, who played both the chief Jawa and Teebo the Ewok. That was when the entirety of the franchise was a mere trilogy of movies. Now, it's a never-ending spout of content featuring three trilogies, two theatrical spin-off movies, multiple streaming shows, and a cargo load of animation. With the expansion of the property across multiple media, reliable thespians have been called back by Lucasfilm, not only to reprise their old characters, but to double, triple, or more as multiple characters. We're not just talking about animation, in which versatile voice actors have been a tradition since the heyday of Mel Blanc. Many "Star Wars" actors in live-action projects have played more than one role, and this list is for them.

That's right -- this does...
