Aaron Sorkin's 'Social Network' Sequel Eyeing Mikey Madison & Jeremy Allen White
Image
The Social Networkis getting a long-awaited sequel, but no, it won't feature Jesse Eisenberg as the controversial founder of Facebook. A pair of rising actors are being eyed to play two entirely new roles in the follow-up film, which will follow the more recent (and destructive) impact of the popular social media platform.

Deadline reports that Oscar-winner Mikey Madison (Anora) and Jeremy Allen White (The Bear) are the top choices to lead The Social Network Part II. Aaron Sorkin, who is writing and directing the film, is basing the sequel on The Facebook Files by Jeff Horowitz for The Wall Street Journal. If deals are made with the actors, White would play Horowitz, while Madison would be in line to play the whistleblower behind the articles that exposed Facebook's questionable internal strategy and lack of care for the harmful effects of their platform.

Madison has been selective since receiving a...

Mikey Madison and Jeremy Allen White Circling Lead Roles in Aaron Sorkin’s ‘Social Network’ Sequel
Image
Mikey Madison and Jeremy Allen White are circling the lead roles for Aaron Sorkin’s sequel to the 2010 Oscar winner “The Social Network,” according to sources with knowledge of the project.

While no offers have been made, Sorkin has met with both Madison and White about the project. The film is still very much in the development stage and has yet to receive the green light from Sony.

Sony declined to comment on the casting.

Sorkin is set to write and direct the follow-up to David Fincher’s 2010 original. While that film followed the creation of the ubiquitous social media platform and the rise of its boy-genius founder Mark Zuckerberg, the sequel is based on “The Facebook Files” from Jeff Horwitz. Published by the Wall Street Journal in 2021, the series of articles exposed Facebook for its harmful effects on teens and its knowing proliferation of misinformation, which contributed to acts of political violence.

Nearly 3 Decades After 'Small Soldiers' Ended, the Fate of the Gorgonites Has Been Finally Revealed by Its Writer
Image
Almost thirty years after it first stormed theaters, the open-ended conclusion of Joe Dante's 1998 action-figure epic Small Soldiers has been expanded upon by one of the film's screenwriters. When asked by a fan on Twitter if the film's action-figure protagonists ever reached their destination, Adam Rifkin answered in the enthusiastic affirmative. Rifkin wrote the film with Gavin Scott, Ted Elliott, and Terry Rossio.

Small Soldiers centers around two warring factions of action figures inadvertently given military-grade artificial intelligence chips: in the end, the heroic Gorgonites set out to seek their home planet, Gorgon. Of course, the planet Gorgon was a product of toy-company marketers, and never existed, but when they find a picture of Yellowstone National Park, they believe it to be the "real" Gorgon; Rifkin (whose other credits include Mouse Hunt and The Last Movie Star) insists that, in some sense, the Gorgonites made it home. As the...

Small Soldiers Writer Finally Confirms the Gorgonites' Fate 27 Years Later
Image
Released in 1998, Small Soldiers was not a heavy hitter at the box office at the time, dashing any hopes of getting a sequel. Even so, the movie was able to garner a cult following, and fans are still wondering what may have ultimately happened with Archer and the Gorgonites.

Directed by Gremlins helmer Joe Dante, Small Soldiers is the story of toy soldiers brought to life with their own distinct personalities when they are implanted with advanced military technology. There are two different teams: the "Commando Elite" soldiers and the "Gorgonites," a group of peaceful monsters intended to serve as educational toys. Things go from bad to worse when the two factions go to war, putting the human lives around them in danger.

The film was co-written by Gavin Scott, Adam Rifkin, Ted Elliott, and Terry Rossio. At the end of the movie, the Gorgonites are last seen embarking in...

This Star Trek: The Next Generation guest star's post-show career was a total curveball
Image
Star Trek: The Next Generation certainly saw its share of guest stars during its 7-season run. Many child actors also cut their professional teeth on the show, including Kirsten Dunst, who went on to massive success in movies like Interview With the Vampire and Fargo.

When it comes to child actors who guest-starred on the show, however, few have had such a diverse career as Joshua Harris. Harris appeared as Timothy on Star Trek: The Next Generation in the episode “Hero Worship” (S05E11), a young lone survivor of a lost ship who begins to emulate Data to process the loss of his parents, who were on board. Harris gave a fine performance, but did you know that his career afterward is one of the most diverse post-Trek? Let’s take a look!

After his turn on Next Generation, Harris appeared in several TV movies in the 1990s, including Go...

30 Years After Its Release, Sam Raimi's Underrated Western Is a Surprise Hit on Netflix
Image
When you think of Sam Raimi, it's common for one of two things to pop up in your head: the Spider-Man franchise starring Tobey Maguire (Babylon) and Kirsten Dunst (Civil War) or the Evil Dead horror movies led by Bruce Campbell(Hysteria!). You hardly think about Raimi when listing Westerns, but the filmmaker took on the challenge of stepping out of his comfort zone back in the mid-'90s in order to film The Quick and the Dead. As the movie celebrates its 30th anniversary, it has suddenly climbed the Netflix global charts to become one of the top 10 most-watched movies of the week on the platform.

It's not difficult to see what attracted Raimi to this particular Western. Since Westerns were traditionally led by macho figures like John Wayne (True Grit) and Clint Eastwood, The Quick and the Deadsubverted the genre by centering around a woman gunslinger played by...

Only One Spider-Man Adaptation Has Gotten Mary Jane Watson Right
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

Spider-Man is the most famous "nerd" superhero, so it's extra funny that Peter Parker has also had so many girlfriends. But there's one woman who always comes back: Mary Jane Watson. Mj's been part of Spider-Man's world since her first on-panel appearance in "The Amazing Spider-Man" #42, by Stan Lee and John Romita Sr. It took a while for her and Peter to truly get together, but Mj's the girl Peter Parker eventually married, no matter what Marvel Comics editorial has been saying since the controversial arc "One More Day."

Mary Jane is so famous as the Spider-Man love interest that a lot of adaptations skip right to her, like the 1994 "Spider-Man" cartoon produced by John Semper, Brian Michael Bendis and Mark Bagley's "Ultimate Spider-Man" comic reboot, and the Sam Raimi "Spider-Man" films, for instance. But to use...

Sofia Coppola in Paris with a Bal d’Été that Revives Pre-Instagram Glamour
Image
Sofia Coppola made an impact in Paris with an elegant Bal d’Été that blended art, fashion, and exclusivity — with no mobile phones allowed.

The Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris was the setting for an unforgettable evening when Sofia Coppola took on the role of artistic director for the first Bal d’Été, a gala that combined classic luxury with a carefully curated contemporary vision. In an era where everything seems designed for social media, Coppola chose the opposite approach: guests’ mobile phones were covered with stickers over the cameras to preserve the event’s intimacy.

The American filmmaker, dressed in Chanel haute couture, designed every detail of the night: from intensely pink napkins to the after-party music provided by the band Phoenix, led by her husband Thomas Mars. Every corner of the museum — from the chandeliers to the floral arrangements on round tables — reflected an aesthetic meant to be experienced,...

Why Spider-Man Stars Keep Falling for Each Other Despite Studio Warnings (Photo Credit – Instagram)

On-screen sparks turning into off-screen heat? Hollywood’s seen it all. But when it comes to Spider-Man flicks, the chemistry seems to jump straight out of the script and into real life. Tom Holland and Zendaya lit up the screen in Spider-Man: Homecoming, but fans didn’t just fall for their characters. The actors themselves soon became a top-tier Hollywood couple. But long before, a high-up exec in the Spider-Man universe reportedly told them to keep things strictly professional.

The thing is, this wasn’t the first time such advice was handed out. Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield got the same memo. And just like Holland and Zendaya, they ignored it. So why do Spider-Man stars keep falling for each other even when told not to? What’s with this web of romance swinging through every reboot?...

Anne Hathaway is now synonymous with the iconic role of Andy Sachs in The Devil Wears Prada, but few know that she was actually the ninth choice to star in the hit 2006 film. However, her persistence—and the withdrawal of other candidates—eventually worked in her favour.

Among the actresses considered before Hathaway were several well-known names who, at the time, had a more commercially bankable profile.

This Visionary Director’s Unforgettable Debut Film Named as the Greatest Horror Movie of the 21st Century
Image
The New York Times has spoken and the publication’s top 100 movies of the 21st century have officially been announced. Dramas, comedies, thrillers, and action flicks abound in the packed list that features movie stars like Tom Cruise and Kirsten Dunst and filmmakers like Steven Soderbergh and David Lynch. Amidst all the excitement, one genre is going largely unsung: horror. It shouldn’t come as a shock to many that the spooky-scary styling isn’t getting as much love as its high-octane or heartfelt brothers and sisters. However, the eighth spot goes to one of not only the greatest genre features of the 21st century, but one that we’d consider to be up there with the greatest of all time. Wedged in between Hayao Miyazaki’s Spirited Away and Michel Gondry’s Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is Jordan Peele’s masterpiece, Get Out.

Serving as the creative genius’ feature-length directorial debut,...
