The 15 Best Summer Camp Movies Of All Time, Ranked
Image
Summer camp was an essential part of growing up for millions of American youths. Even if they couldn't pronounce their multi-syllabic, semi-Indigenous-sounding names, parents appreciated the camp's ample opportunities for their kids to learn new skills (while they get empty house for the summer). Meanwhile, kids got something so much greater: the sweet if fleeting taste of freedom. Before kids went to college, or even got their driver's permit, summer camp afforded young people the opportunity to experience a tiny bit of independence ... and mosquito bites. So many mosquito bites.

Alas, like so many cherished emblems from days gone by, summer camp is on the downswing, due to a host of all-too-familiar problems: too few spots, too much money. But hey, even if summer camps go the way of the dodo, summer camp movies have planted their flags in our collective imaginations. Whether you went to camp every summer, or know camps only from movies,...

10 Best '80s Sitcoms (That Everyone Forgot About)
Image
The 1980s was truly an era of world-class sitcoms, but many of the decade's brightest series have faded from our cultural memory. While iconic shows like The Golden Girls and Cheers undoubtedly made television history, they're part of a larger wave of comedies that helped propel the sitcom format into new territory.

For decades, sitcoms like I Love Lucy, Good Times, and The Brady Bunch centered on the concept of family. There were some exceptions, but these shows, like Dream of Jeannie or Gilligan's Island, were often built around a gimmick. The 80s changed that, opening windows to a plethora of different environments. The sitcoms of the era explored the relationships between coworkers, neighbors, and friends. On top of this, they eschewed flashy premises, putting faith in sharp writing and well-rounded characters.

"Greedy B---h": How Emmy-Nominated 1979 Sitcom Revival Was Sabotaged Explained By Facts Of Life Star
Image
One of the Facts of Life stars sabotaged the revival by attempting to set up their own spinoff, according to Mindy Cohn. Cohn did not reveal which co-star was responsible, but hinted at checking her Instagram for clues. The former co-stars now have "no desire to ever work together," effectively killing hopes of a revival.

Facts of Life's Mindy Cohn reveals that a revival of the Emmy-nominated sitcom was sabotaged by one of its stars, calling her a "greedy b---h." A spin-off of Diff'rent Strokes, the NBC sitcom aired from 1979 to 1998 following the Drummond family's former housekeeper, Edna Garrett, who becomes a housemother of a dormitory at the private all-girls Eastland High School. The cast included Charlotte Rae as Mrs. Garrett alongside Lisa Whelchel, Kim Fields, Nancy McKeon, and Cohn playing the girls in her care.

During a recent appearance on SiriusXM's Jeff Lewis Live, Cohn revealed that a Facts...

‘Facts of Life’s Mindy Cohn Slams ‘Greedy B***h’ Costar After Revival Didn’t Happen
Image
Facts of Life alum Mindy Cohn said a reboot of the hit 1980s sitcom was in the early stages of development before one of her “greedy b***h” co-stars ruined it by going behind their backs. Appearing on SiriusXM’s Jeff Lewis Live on Wednesday (July 24), Cohn, who played Natalie Green on the popular NBC comedy, said they were talks about a revival during Covid, but things fell apart when “One of the girls went behind our backs to try to make a separate deal for a spinoff deal just for herself.” “We got into talks, and we hired a writer. The four of us [Cohn, Lisa Whelchel, Kim Fields, and Nancy McKeon] got together on a Zoom — this was during Covid — and we had meetings with Norman [Lear] about it,” she explained. However, after one of the cast members went behind their backs, the whole idea ended up in the trash.

Mindy Cohn Says “Greedy” Co-Star on ‘The Facts of Life’ Original Cast Sabotaged Potential Reboot
Image
According to The Facts of Life star Mindy Cohn, a “greedy bitch” on the original cast sabotaged a potential reboot of the beloved ’80s sitcom.

The veteran actress, who is enjoying a bit of a moment thanks to a role on the Emmy-nominated series Palm Royale, dished on the alleged betrayal during an appearance on SiriusXM’s Jeff Lewis Live this week. The anecdote began as Cohn reminded hosts Lewis, Michael Hitchcock and Shane Douglas that the show was recently resuscitated as one of the specials for the Norman Lear and Jimmy Kimmel series Live in Front of a Studio Audience.

“They did one of Diff’rent Strokes and Facts of Life and after that, Norman Lear, who is no longer with us, when he was still alive, he called all of us and said, ‘I knew you guys were still popular, but holy hell. The response from the live.’ And...

A Facts of Life Revival Was Sabotaged by ‘Greedy’ Co-Star, Says Mindy Cohn
Image
A potential revival of the classic NBC comedy The Facts of Life was effectively sabotaged by a “greedy” co-star who quietly tried to set up her own spinoff, says Mindy Cohn.

During a recent hit on SiriusXM’s Jeff Lewis Live (watch video above), Cohn shared that in the wake of ABC’s December 2021 Live in Front of a Studio Audience special that re-enacted episodes of Facts as well as Diff’rent Strokes, executive producer and sitcom titan Norman Lear reached out to say, “I knew you guys were still popular, but holy hell. The response from the Live [special]!”

Friends Cast: The Actors Who Almost Played The Main Characters
Image
Friends' superb cast makes it hard to imagine any other actors in their place, but there are many famous figures who initially auditioned for these iconic roles. Friends is one of the most successful sitcoms of the last few decades, and it continues to garner new fans in the streaming age. The chemistry between the friends is unmistakable, but what would have happened if one of the original six wasn't cast in their role?

While the roles seem to be tailor-made for these performers, only a few of the main six Friends characters were written with specific actors in mind. Others required hundreds of auditions, which featured some of today's most well-known comedians. Thankfully, creators David Crane and Marta Kauffman's meticulous process discovered their pitch-perfect cast members. However, there were many other actors who almost made the cut.

Will Christie Brinkley be a model contestant on ‘Dancing with the Stars’?
Eric Roberts, Tori Spelling, Reginald VelJohnson, Alfonso Ribeiro, Anna Delvey Sorokin, Joey Graziadei, Ilona Maher, Jenn Tran, Stephen Nedoroscik, Dwight Howard, Julianne Hough, Phaedra Parks, Chandler Kinney, Danny Amendola, and Brooks Nader in Dancing with the Stars (2005)
“Dancing with the Stars” is the latest in a long line of ventures for entertainment veteran Christie Brinkley. After having done work as a model, actress, illustrator, photographer, writer, designer and activist, she’s getting ready to take up ballroom dancing. The new season begins on September 16, so before Brinkley and the rest of the cast start competing on the dance floor, let’s consider her pros and cons.

Pros

Brinkley first gained worldwide fame with her appearances in the late-1970s Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issues. She spent 25 years as the face of CoverGirl, has appeared on over 500 magazine covers, and has signed contracts with major brands — both fashion and non-fashion. So she has arguably the most name recognition of any contestant this season.

She has also appeared in several music videos for songs by her second husband, Billy Joel,...

Kel Mitchell
No kidding around: Could Kel Mitchell go from child star to ‘Dancing with the Stars’ champion?
Kel Mitchell
I actually suggested Kel Mitchell as a possible cast member for “Dancing with the Stars” this past spring, and they must have taken my advice because he’s competing in the upcoming 28th season of the series. It begins on September 16, but before Mitchell and his competitors hit the dance floor, let’s consider his pros and cons.

Pros

Mitchell does have the nostalgia factor going for him: Millennials who grew up watching him on Nickelodeon in the 1990s might tune in and vote to see him again. He started out as a series regular on the long-running kids’ sketch comedy series “All That,” which led to him and co-star Kenan Thompson getting their own sitcom, “Kenan & Kel.” They even got to star in their own movie, “Good Burger” (1997), which was based on a popular “All That” sketch. We’re less than a week away from the “Dancing with the Stars” Season 28 cast reveal, and if you believe Jenna Johnson and Val Chmerkovskiy, they are completely in the dark as to whether they’re coming back or not.

“We don’t even know if we’re on the show,” Johnson told “Entertainment Tonight” (watch below). “We have no idea.”

Is she telling the truth or just keeping things under wraps until the big reveal on “Good Morning America” next week? Well, for starters, promo shots were filmed on Tuesday. And watch as Chmerkovskiy devilishly smirks while his new wife answers.

See Mark your calendars: Here’s the date the ‘Dancing with the Stars’ Season 28 cast will be announced

Asked if they would return if approached, the couple, who wed in April, emphatically replied, “Of course.” “It’s a great show. Everybody should watch the show this fall, premiering Sept.

Mark your calendars because the “Dancing with the Stars” Season 28 cast announcement — or some of it — is coming very, very soon. As in, as soon as next week.

Gold Derby can confirm that the first two celebrities were scheduled to be revealed on “Good Morning America” on Monday, Aug. 5, but the announcement was indefinitely postponed in light of the tragic mass shootings in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, over the weekend. Host Tom Bergeron confirmed as such on Twitter last Monday.

I assume given coverage of the domestic terrorist shootings in Texas & Ohio @Gma wisely opted to delay it

— Tom Bergeron (@Tom_Bergeron) August 5, 2019

While the announcement has yet to be officially rescheduled, Bergeron did narrow the timeframe a bit on Friday. Responding to a fan on Twitter, the Emmy winner teased that the reveal is “not next week. But not too much beyond next week,” with a winking emoji.

Witney Carson would be the 8th pro to win ‘Dancing with the Stars’ more than once
Eric Roberts, Tori Spelling, Reginald VelJohnson, Alfonso Ribeiro, Anna Delvey Sorokin, Joey Graziadei, Ilona Maher, Jenn Tran, Stephen Nedoroscik, Dwight Howard, Julianne Hough, Phaedra Parks, Chandler Kinney, Danny Amendola, and Brooks Nader in Dancing with the Stars (2005)
Fifteen pros have won “Dancing with the Stars” through 26 seasons, one of them being Witney Carson. The Season 19 champ, with Alfonso Ribeiro, is back in the final with Milo Manheim, putting her one step closer to becoming just the eighth pro to claim multiple Mirrorball trophies.

Of the 15, seven pros have won “Dancing” more than once. The undisputed king of “Dancing” is Derek Hough, who has won a record six times, including going back-to-back twice. The two-time Emmy winner also never finished worse than sixth place, which happened twice, during his 17-season run on the show, which might be even more impressive.

No one else has come remotely close to even matching Hough’s record, as the other six multiple champs — Cheryl Burke, Julianne Hough, Mark Ballas, Kym Johnson, Peta Murgatroyd and Val Chmerkovskiy — just have two victories. Burke and Chmerkovskiy were both chasing a third win this season, but...

‘Dancing with the Stars’: Halloween Night recap: Eek! Which celebs put on a rockin’ horror show for the judges? [Updating Live Blog]
Eric Roberts, Tori Spelling, Reginald VelJohnson, Alfonso Ribeiro, Anna Delvey Sorokin, Joey Graziadei, Ilona Maher, Jenn Tran, Stephen Nedoroscik, Dwight Howard, Julianne Hough, Phaedra Parks, Chandler Kinney, Danny Amendola, and Brooks Nader in Dancing with the Stars (2005)
“Dancing with the Stars” spared its contestants from an elimination on Disney Night, but how many went home on Halloween Night? Was it a bloodbath? If so, who did the grim reaper of the ballroom claim as its next victim — or victims? Follow along below with our live blog for all the minute-by-minute developments as they happen.

The first four celebs eliminated from the competition were all women. Another woman sent home would have made history as the first time one gender has suffered the first five eliminations in a given season. So Evanna Lynch, Mary Lou Retton and Alexis Ren had to watch their backs.

But so did Joe Amabile. He was also on the verge of making history with the most last-place judges’ scores for a single contestant. But was he finally on the verge of elimination? He was never even in jeopardy in previous weeks, demonstrating the...

Bobby Bones thinks it’s ‘horse crap’ that only women have been eliminated on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ so far
Eric Roberts, Tori Spelling, Reginald VelJohnson, Alfonso Ribeiro, Anna Delvey Sorokin, Joey Graziadei, Ilona Maher, Jenn Tran, Stephen Nedoroscik, Dwight Howard, Julianne Hough, Phaedra Parks, Chandler Kinney, Danny Amendola, and Brooks Nader in Dancing with the Stars (2005)
The exodus of women on “Dancing with the Stars” this season hasn’t gone unnoticed by the contestants. “Crap. That’s what I make of that. Crap. It’s just crap. All I’m gonna say. I think it’s horse crap,” Bobby Bones told “Entertainment Tonight” of the all-female eliminations (watch above).

Nikki Glaser, Danielle Umstead, Nancy McKeon and Tinashe have been the casualties so far, and all except for Tinashe were in the all-female bottom five the first week. The bleeding stopped on Monday, but only because it was a non-elimination, so the unfortunate streak could continue next week if Evanna Lynch, Alexis Ren or Mary Lou Retton goes home. There has never been five straight eliminations of the same gender in the show’s history.

“It’s really interesting and I don’t think that that’s fair necessarily,” Bones’ partner Sharna Burgess said. “I don’t understand how that happened.

‘Dancing with the Stars’ Disney Night recap: The grownup celebs went from ‘Zero’ to ‘Incredible’ [Updating Live Blog]
Kamri Peterson and Artyon Celestine in Dancing with the Stars: Juniors (2018)
The kids got their shot at Disney Night on Sunday’s “Dancing with the Stars: Juniors,” and Monday was the grownups’ turn. The nine remaining contestants on “Dancing with the Stars: Original Recipe” performed routines celebrating Mouse House properties from “The Jungle Book” to the upcoming “Ralph Breaks the Internet,” and going into tonight’s show the remaining female celebs were surely wishing upon a star to end the streak of eliminated women. So who gave the best performances, and how did the night end? Follow along below with our live blog of all the minute-by-minute developments as they happen.

In the first four weeks of the competition, “DWTS” sent home Nikki Glaser, Danelle Umstead, Nancy McKeon and most shockingly Tinashe, who was one of the competition’s highest scoring dancers. That left Evanna Lynch, Alexis Ren and Mary Lou Retton as representatives of the fairer sex, while low-scoring rivals...

‘Dancing with the Stars’ elimination predictions: We think a man will Finally get the boot, but which one?
Eric Roberts, Tori Spelling, Reginald VelJohnson, Alfonso Ribeiro, Anna Delvey Sorokin, Joey Graziadei, Ilona Maher, Jenn Tran, Stephen Nedoroscik, Dwight Howard, Julianne Hough, Phaedra Parks, Chandler Kinney, Danny Amendola, and Brooks Nader in Dancing with the Stars (2005)
So far it has been a bad season for women on “Dancing with the Stars.” The first four celebrities who have been eliminated from the show have all been women: Nikki Glaser, Danelle Umstead, Nancy McKeon and Tinashe. And it could be historically bad if a fifth straight woman is drummed out this week on Disney Night: it would be the first time one gender has suffered the first five eliminations in a row. But there may be cause for optimism. According to our racetrack odds for tonight’s show, a man will be eliminated next, but which one?

Our odds are based on the combined predictions of Gold Derby users who enter their picks every week in our predictions center, and as of this writing “Dukes of Hazzard” star John Schneider is poised to be eliminated; he gets leading odds of 7/2. He didn’t have the lowest judges’ score...

‘Dancing with the Stars’ slugfest: Will the purge of women reach a historic milestone? [Watch]

The women are dropping like flies on “Dancing with the Stars,” and it’s about to reach historic proportions. In Gold Derby’s latest slugfest to discuss Trios Night, Joyce Eng notes, “I looked back and the only other time there have been four straight weeks of the same gender being eliminated was season 23 when it was four straight guys in the beginning, but there has never been five straight eliminations of the same gender. It could break a record next week … We could totally have a top six of just guys.” Eng was joined by Daniel Montgomery, Cordell Martin and Jeffrey Kare to discuss that dubious milestone and more. Watch above.

The first three contestants sent home from the show this season were comedian Nikki Glaser, Paralympian Danelle Umstead and actress Nancy McKeon. It looked like “Dukes of Hazzard” star John Schneider or “Bachelorette” alum Joe Amabile would be ousted next,...

7 reasons (besides Bachelor Nation) why Tinashe was cruelly eliminated on ‘Dancing with the Stars’

The slaughtering of female contestants on “Dancing with the Stars” this season continued on Monday, but it wasn’t Mary Lou Retton or Alexis Ren — the remaining two women who were in the bottom five the first week — who went home like we had feared. Instead, it was Tinashe, one of the best dancers and top scorers this season, and her partner Brandon Armstrong who got the boot, giving us our first shocking elimination of the season. How did this happen? Besides, you know, Bachelor Nation. Let’s break it down.

1. Tinashe was getting, like, no votes

This seems obvious, but it must be said. Based on skill alone and her scores — she’s tied with the highest average of the season, 25.6 — Tinashe was a contender for the Mirrorball trophy. But fan votes are the other half of the “Dancing” equation, and she had to have been at or near...

Alexis Ren
‘Dancing with the Stars’ judges loved Alexis Ren’s trio tango, but she may suffer the same fate as Tinashe next week [Watch]
Alexis Ren
Could Alexis Ren be the victim of a shocking early elimination on “Dancing with the Stars”? You wouldn’t think so based on her consistently strong scores, but the ouster of Tinashe on Trios Night showed us that no one can take their spot on the show for granted. Ren performed a tango with her pro partner Alan Bersten and special guest Maddie Ziegler and received one of the night’s better scores, but she’ll be out of luck if viewers don’t vote. What did you think of her routine? Watch it above, and vote in our poll below to let us know if you thought it was the best of the night.

They performed to the fast-paced “Move Your Body” by Sia, for whom Ziegler has often danced. Carrie Ann Inaba was impressed by their moves but wanted to see them all dance “as one” instead of...

Worst elimination in ‘Dancing with the Stars’ history? Tinashe sent home in 10th place
Eric Roberts, Tori Spelling, Reginald VelJohnson, Alfonso Ribeiro, Anna Delvey Sorokin, Joey Graziadei, Ilona Maher, Jenn Tran, Stephen Nedoroscik, Dwight Howard, Julianne Hough, Phaedra Parks, Chandler Kinney, Danny Amendola, and Brooks Nader in Dancing with the Stars (2005)
I’d blame the electoral college, but this time it was the popular vote that was the problem. On “Dancing with the Stars” for Trios Night, R&B singer Tinashe and her pro partner Brandon Armstrong were joined by season 18 runner-up Amy Purdy for a tango (watch it above). As usual for Tinashe it was one of the highest scoring routines of the night. In fact, Tinashe had never finished lower than second place on the judges’ leaderboard. That’s what made it so shocking when she was eliminated at the end of the night in 10th place.

It all came down to her fan base, or the lack thereof. The recording artist has a few hits under her belt, but she wasn’t a household name before the season started. She was paired with Brandon Armstrong, a first-time pro dancer who hasn’t yet established a fan base of his own.

‘Dancing with the Stars’ has cut 3 of the 5 women who were in the bottom in Week 1 — Wtf is going on?!
Eric Roberts, Tori Spelling, Reginald VelJohnson, Alfonso Ribeiro, Anna Delvey Sorokin, Joey Graziadei, Ilona Maher, Jenn Tran, Stephen Nedoroscik, Dwight Howard, Julianne Hough, Phaedra Parks, Chandler Kinney, Danny Amendola, and Brooks Nader in Dancing with the Stars (2005)
“Dancing with the Stars” eliminated its third contestant on Monday, and for the third time, a woman, Nancy McKeon, went home. Not only that, but it was the third woman who was in the bottom five that was announced during the Week 1 elimination. She followed Nikki Glaser and Danielle Umstead off the dance floor. Will they be joined by the other two who were in the bottom five, Mary Lou Retton and Alexis Ren, in the next two weeks? More importantly, why are the female celebrities dropping like flies?

As we’ve previously noted, “Dancing” is a pretty equal opportunity show, producing 13 female champs from the first 26 seasons. In addition, 25 out of 52 finalists have also been women. There was even a four-season streak with female champs: Melissa Rycroft (Season 15), Kellie Pickler (Season 16), Amber Riley (Season 17) and Meryl Davis (Season 18). The first winner, though controversially, Kelly Monaco, was a woman. So,...

Memorable Year Week on “Dancing with the Stars” brought the first 30 of the season, lots of tears, and six couples clearing 100,000 plays on YouTube. Who were they?

Before we being, again, some caveats:

1. Needless to say, not everyone who watches a contestant’s dance on YouTube is voting and vice versa.

2. Not every star or dance is created equal. Some people already come in with major notoriety and a fan base, which could boost views. Some pros have a bigger fan base than the stars they’re teaching. Some people accrue fans as the season progresses. Sometimes a performance is just flat-out amazing or a complete hot mess or meme-worthy that everyone is going to be Googling it the next day so they don’t have Fomo.

3. These are the plays as of press time, so they will have changed by the time you finish reading this sentence.

“Dancing with the Stars” is through week three of the competition, when each couple danced a routine highlighting the “Most Memorable Year” of their lives. This is always the most emotional week of the competition as it gives us the chance to see these stars at their most vulnerable.

In a night full of tears and celebration, actor Juan Pablo Di Pace and his pro partner Cheryl Burke were deemed the most memorable dance of the night, earning a perfect 30 out of 30 from the judges for their sizzling samba, while Tinashe, Milo Manheim and Evanna Lynch tied with their own highest scores of the season (27 out of 30). Meanwhile, Joe Amabile placed at the bottom of the leaderboard yet again, but managed to escape \elimination as “Facts of Life” star Nancy McKeon became the third celebrity to get the boot.
