Frasier's fan base continues to prove their dedication to the long-running 90s sitcom, sending it climbing up the streaming charts. The show and its recent 2023 revival are both streaming on Paramount+.
FlixPatrol reports that the original Frasier series has climbed one spot to #5 on Paramount+'s Top 10 TV Shows in the United States for July 10. It still trails behind another popular 90s sitcom, Everybody Loves Raymond(#4), but is outperforming another one of its contemporaries, The King of Queens (#8). Frasier originally ran for 11 seasons from 1993 to 2004 and was later revived in 2023 with Kelsey Grammer reprising his role as the titular Frasier Crane.
Unfortunately for fans, Frasier's revival was relatively short-lived and debuted to mixed reviews. It saw the return of several characters from the original series, including Bebe Neuwirth and Peri Gilpin as Lilith and Roz, but it also noticeably lacked key characters - most notably David Hyde Pierce, who declined...

Cheersran for 11 seasons on NBC from 1982 to 1992. While the cast was a big part of the show's success, Ted Danson recalls worrying that one of his co-stars was not the right fit for the sitcom.
Speaking on his Where Everybody Knows Your Name podcast alongside guest Helen Hunt, Danson opened up about his initial concerns about Shelley Long's casting. "I looked at Shelley Long when we were auditioning for Cheers. I went, 'No, no, no. Do not hire her. It'll ruin the show,'" he said via Entertainment Weekly. The actor went on to admit that his first impression of his co-star was wrong. "She made the show. She came out hitting a home run [on] day one. We were so different... Grew to love her, absolutely. But different. It was hard for us to sit around and just talk. But when we got in front of a camera, it was like a prize fight.

With Tim Robinson's hilarious sketch series "I Think You Should Leave" having cemented the former "Saturday Night Live" and "Detroiters" star's status as a full comedy legend and "Friendship" pairing him with Paul Rudd to further establish his talent, the comedian seems nothing short of undeniable. Still, despite friends of funny business everywhere chuckling to themselves whenever they remember "Brian's Hat," Robinson's professional life might not be entirely composed of well-deserved victories after all.
One of Robinson's less-known but still perfectly hilarious works is the Adult Swim cartoon "Teenage Euthanasia," which premiered in 2021 and got its sophomore season in 2023. However, fans of the show who have been waiting for news of season 3 will be disappointed to hear that the show seems to have died with barely a whimper.

Adult Swim may have just quietly confirmed that its animated sitcom Teenage Euthanasia has been canceled. The series ran from 2021 to 2023.
Per ComicBook, the official Instagram page for Teenage Euthanasia has been updated, heavily hinting that the show will not continue on for a third season. "Like Trophy's heart, this show is dead," the bio reads, referring to one of the show's characters, Trophy Fantasy. The last post on the Teenage Euthanasia Instagram was in October 2023, and the recent change seems to indicate that no new episodes of the underrated sitcom will be on the way.
Teenage Euthanasia starred Maria Bamford as Trophy Fantasy, Jo Firestone as Euthanasia "Annie" Fantasy, Tim Robinson as Uncle Pete and Bebe Neuwirth as Baba. Set in the near future, the comedy series centers around the owners of the Tender Endings funeral home when Trophy's corpse is delivered to Euthanasia and is later revived as a sentient zombie.

All seems to be well between Cheers co-stars Ted Danson and Kelsey Grammer after the acting legends buried their long-running dispute in multiple interviews. However, the wait for an on-screen reunion lingers on, with Danson revealing why he opted not to appear in Grammer's now-canceled Frasier reboot.
Speaking on the Howie Mandel Does Stuff Podcast, Danson explained why he decided against returning as Sam Malone in the modern-day version of the beloved sitcom. According to the A Man on the Inside star, his decision was due to doubts over whether he could play an older Malone. "I didn't know how to ... how the f**k do you play Sam Malone in his 60s or now 70s?" he said. "It's amusing to be an aging adolescent when you're in your 30s [or] 40s, but not when you're in your 70s. So, I thought, I don't know how to do that."
"I would have felt at sea.

We've mentioned the low-profile Chita Rivera Awards a few times here at The Film Experience. The awards, named after the legendary Broadway performer of West Side Story, The Rink, Chicago, and Sweet Charity fame are a fun idea, honoring dance in both feature films and on Broadway (the more common place for dance to be honored). Since we love all three art forms and the namesake we are all for this! The 2025 honors will be their 7th installment.
This year's ceremony will be held in NYC on May 19 with the amazing Tony & Emmy winner Bebe Neuwirth as host. The most famous nominee this year is surely Jonathan Groff. While we've had an enormous crush on him for years, we swear that it's his abundant talent and not his beauty that have kept the fires burning. The Frasierrevival may have been cancelled at Paramount+, but if it finds a new home, Frasier Crane may just get a visit from his long-lost brother. David Hyde Pierce, who played Niles Crane on all eleven seasons of Frasier's original run, is open to a guest appearance on the series. Varietyreports that although Pierce turned down a regular role on the series, he'd be happy to drop in on Frasier's new Boston abode.
The series, which debuted in 2023 and ran for two seasons before Paramount+ cancelled it earlier this year, had Frasier (Kelsey Grammer) relocate to Boston to be closer to his firefighter son, Frederick (Jack Cutmore-Scott), in the wake of his father Martin's death. Several Frasier supporting and recurring characters have made appearances on the series, including Roz Doyle (Peri Gilpin), Lilith Sternin (Bebe Neuwirth), Bob "Bulldog" Briscoe (Dan Butler), and Bebe Glazer (Harriet Sansom Harris), but Niles, who...

Bernadette Peters has long been heralded as one of legendary composer Stephen Sondheim’s greatest interpreters. The actress originated roles in Sunday in the Park With George and Into the Woods and starred in revivals of Gypsy, A Little Night Music, and Follies. Now, three years after Sondheim’s death, Peters has returned to Broadway to pay tribute to her long-time collaborator and friend in the revue Stephen Sondheim’s Old Friends. If she receives recognition from the Tony Awards for her efforts, she could make history in the Best Featured Actress in a Musical category.

Usually, when an established sitcom suddenly adds a new character, it’s a sign of desperation — and one most viewers can see right through. This, in turn, provokes them to attack without mercy. Just think of poor Cousin Oliver, the cute kid brought in for Season Five of The Brady Bunch who is still blamed for the show’s cancellation. Scooby-Doo fans similarly still revile Scrappy-Doo, and even Andy from The Office has his share of haters.
On the other hand, sometimes new blood is exactly the injection of energy a show needs. Here are five examples of new additions that actually made a series much, much better…

However, while producers try to find a new home for the revival, the original series becomes a hit on its streaming service, proving Dr. Crane's everlasting appeal to fans.

If the Frasier reboot continues, star and producer Kelsey Grammer believes an on-screen reunion is possible between him and his Cheers castmate Ted Danson in his rebooted sitcom. However, Grammer insists this won't lead to a Cheers reboot as he gives a definitive update on the hit parent series.
Speaking with the New York Post, Grammer explored the possibilities of a third season of his Frasier reboot, should it find a new home after its Paramount+ cancelation in January. According to Grammer, who claimed it's "very possible" the series will continue elsewhere, he suggested Danson could appear in Season 3 after the duo's recent public burial of the hatchet following their Cheers fallout. “Ted and I might visit actually something together,” Grammer said. “We’ve been talking about a couple ideas. Acclaimed actor Kelsey Grammer believes there are plenty more tossed salads and scrambled eggs left to cook up as he provides a hopeful update about his canceled Frasier reboot. The lead actor and producer of the revived sitcom is confident that a third season of the revived show will happen and calls out Paramount for putting the series on the chopping block.
Speaking with the New York Post, Grammer addressed the status of the Frasier reboot, which Paramount canceled this past January after two seasons. Grammer stated he's "very positive" the series will air again. However, Grammer clarified his feelings about Paramount's treatment of the show, suggesting changing leadership led to the studio not treating it with the care it deserved, including a lack of marketing.

Grammer stated he's "very positive" the series will air again. However, Grammer clarified his feelings about Paramount's treatment of the show, suggesting changing leadership led to the studio not treating it with the care it deserved, including a lack of marketing.

Kelsey Grammer remains determined to bring Dr. Frasier Crane back to the screen, even after the Paramount+ cancelation of the Frasier revival. Grammer's iconic Dr. Crane returned with the anticipated follow-up series that premiered back in October 2023. The series saw Frasier back in Boston (the city audiences first met the quirky doctor through Cheers), following the death of his father and the demise of a 20-year relationship. This time around, Grammer was surrounded by an all-new cast. After a two-season run, the streamer canceled the revival.
Grammer believes that Paramount didn't properly promote the series, which, in turn, reflected a lack of passion from the streamer. In an interview with the New York Post, he shared:
"There's a better home for it. I mean, obviously, they didn't really promote or spend much time on it." He added: "The fellow that worked at Paramount Plus when we first sold the show there left,...

Against all odds, a show that many fans never thought to see return was Frasier. It had been almost twenty years since the series finale in 2004, and yet Kelsey Grammer returned to the role in 2023 for a reboot brought to audiences by Paramount+.
Unfortunately, after only twenty episodes, the show was unceremoniously canceled. Fans were disappointed, especially due to the fact that the reboot felt right at home with the original series. Although the locations and characters were different, audiences felt like the reboot was just like classic Frasier. Even though the show won't continue, fans can still enjoy their best episodes.

The first episode of the new series assures fans of the original that this reboot will take good care of the radiotherapist. After his father's funeral, Frasier returns to Boston to reconnect with his old friend, Alan Cornwall, and his son,...

For three decades and two iterations, Frasier remains the one show fans cherish when thinking about Kelsey Grammer. However, Grammer reveals that if it hadn't been for the intervention of Paramount's boss, he would have gone in a different direction after his Cheers run ended.
During an interview on NPR's Bullseye with Jesse Thorn, Grammer confirmed he wasn't eyeing a Cheers spinoff featuring Dr. Crane after the hit series' conclusion. Instead, Grammer pitched a pilot to then-Paramount president John Pike chronicling a Malcolm Forbes-like media mogul who was paralyzed from the waist down following a serious accident and befriended his physical therapist during recovery. Though Grammer thought it "was time to let Frasier go," and felt the pilot script was "pretty funny," Pike rejected the idea, believing a Frasier spinoff had promise given how well fans connected with his Cheers character. Pike bluntly told Grammer, “Kelsey, I think a sitcom should befunny,...

We've all heard of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which Marvel is currently in the process of trying to fix before it's too late. But if you happened to grow up in the 90s you might well be familiar with arguably the true forerunner to Marvel's juggernaut of a blockbuster franchise: The Frasier-verse. Ok, Dr. Frasier Crane might not be the real genesis of the gargantuan shared timeline erected by Marvel Studios over the past decade, but he was at the center of a television universe that is much larger than you might think.
Most fans will know that Kelsey Grammer debuted as the character on "Cheers," which ran for 11 seasons from 1982 until 1993, before starring in his own sitcom which also ran for 11 seasons before wrapping up in 2004. Likewise, most will know that he reprised the role in 2023 for the neither disappointing nor remarkable "Frasier" revival series for the Paramount+ streaming service.

You know you're old when Hollywood starts remaking films released when you were in high school. Premiering on Christmas day in 1998, The Faculty was the meta answer to sci-fi films in the same way 1996's Scream was to the slasher movie sub-genre. It was a modest hit upon release, but it has gone on to develop a major cult following with genre fans. This was bound to happen sooner or later, and it looks like that time is now, because a remake is officially in the works.
Per Variety, a remake of The Faculty is set at Miramax and the director of the original film, Robert Rodriguez, is on board as a producer. What makes this remake news promising is that Drew Hancock is writing the project. That name may not be immediately recognizable, but he's an emerging talent who wrote and directed this weekend's Companion, a new horror film...

Back at the end of December 2023, just two days after the 25th anniversary of the release of director Robert Rodriguez‘s alien invasion horror film The Faculty (watch it Here), which reached theatres on December 25, 1998, scooper Daniel Richtman has revealed on his Patreon page that Rodriguez was on board to produce a remake of The Faculty. Now, thirteen months later, Variety has finally confirmed that scoop – and they have also revealed that the screenplay for the remake is being written by Drew Hancock, writer/director of the sci-fi thriller Companion, which reaches theatres tomorrow. JoBlo’s own Tyler Nichols already had the chance to see Companion and gave it a 9/10 review that can be read Here.
Rodriguez directed the original The Faculty from a screenplay by Scream writer Kevin Williamson (working from a story by David Wechter and Bruce Kimmel). The film has the following synopsis: To the students at Harrington High,...

Paramount+ has cancelled the revived version of Frasier after two series. The show is now being shopped to other networks.
Frasier is undoubtably one of the most beloved American sitcoms of all time. Spun-off from Cheers, itself an 11 season American institution, Frasier had some of the wittiest writing on television, elevated by the magnificent casting of David Hyde Pierce as Frasier’s equally fastidious brother Niles.
Along with the much missed John Mahoney as their dad, Martin, Jane Leeves as housekeeper Daphne Moon and Peri Gilpin as acerbic producer Roz Doyle, over 11 seasons the show became embedded in American culture.
According to Deadline, Paramount+ has decided not to move forward with a third series. One of the reasons given is that the show “could not break through in a major way on Paramount+”.
However, the creative team are shopping the show to other networks. There may yet be a future for the show.

Although he'd been acting on stage and screen beforehand, most people first were introduced to David Hyde Pierce via his role as Niles Crane on the NBC sitcom "Frasier." Pierce was, in the long run, the secret sauce that helped differentiate "Frasier" from "Cheers," as Niles quickly became a fan favorite and was one-half of the show's long-running "will they/won't they" romance, culminating in a marriage and baby between him and his father's home health-care worker Daphne Moon. Aside from the way audiences loved Pierce as Niles, it was clear the industry did too: He was nominated 11 times for a Best Supporting Actor Emmy, winning four times, including for the show's final season in 2004. But unlike Kelsey Grammer continuing to ply his trade in the world of sitcoms with countless (and far less successful) follow-ups, Pierce chose to mostly (but not entirely) step away from the on-screen limelight after...

Put away the tossed salad and scrambled eggs because the Frasier revival has been canceled after just two seasons. But that doesn’t mean we won’t see more, as even though Paramount+ will no longer produce the show, CBS Studios is still on board for the future of Frasier.
While the future of Frasier is currently uncertain, as you can stream the original Frasier on Amazon Prime Video and Hulu, that could be an indicator that the revival may find a home there as well.
Already a spin-off, Frasier didn’t initially seem worthy of coming back. But the nostalgia wave was strong enough for it to land on Paramount+; it, too, proved to be just what it needed to be: something comfortable for fans of the original to nestle into. Frasier Crane will once again be looking for a new home.
Paramount+ says it won’t go ahead with a third season of Frasier, its revival of the Must See TV-era NBC comedy starring Kelsey Grammer. The news comes two months after the show’s second season concluded.
CBS Studios, which produces the show, says it will look to find a new home for Frasier, which follows Dr. Frasier Crane (Grammer) as he returns to Boston and takes a teaching post at Harvard in order to forge a better relationship with his now-adult son Freddy (Jack Cutmore-Scott). Nicholas Lyndhurst, Toks Olagundoye, Jess Salguiero and Anders Keith also star; Frasier alumni Peri Gilpin, Bebe Neuwirth, Harriet Sansom Harris, Dan Butler and Edward Hibbert have made guest appearances.
The first rumblings of a Frasier revival came in early 2021; Paramount+ gave it a series order in October 2022, and it premiered a year later.

Frasier‘s return has hit a major bump. Paramount+ has opted not to renew the Kelsey Grammer-led comedy for a third season. Producer CBS Studios remains committed to the series and plans to shop it to other outlets.
Those are not expected to include the most logical home for a multi-camera sitcom that originated on broadcast — CBS Studios’ sibling CBS. The network, which is eying a planted spinoff of The Neighborhood among other comedies in development, has no current shelf space available. Possibilities include Prime Video and Hulu, which both carry the library of Frasier‘s original run. Seasons 1 and 2 of the revival, along with the original library episodes, will remain available on Paramount+.
Paramount+ ordered Frasier to series in 2022 with James Burrows directing the first episode. Season 1 premiered a year later and Season 2 dropped in September.

While we all love his quick wit, snooty pretensions and proclivity for throwing wildly farcical dinner parties, when it comes down to it, Dr. Frasier Crane is still a deadbeat dad.
In the very first scene of the very first episode of Frasier, Dr. Crane explains to a caller (and to the TV audience at home) why he’s suddenly working as an Am radio psychiatrist in Seattle. It seems that, in the time since Cheers ended, his career had become “stagnate,” his marriage was over and his social life “consisted of hanging around a bar night after night.”
So, craving a new start, Frasier packed his bags and moved back to his hometown of Seattle.
Which is a pretty messed-up decision to make, considering that Frasier had a small child at home. His son, Frederick, was born in the fall of 1989, which we know because it all transpired in an episode of Cheers.

In 1993, Frasier Crane left his Boston home to return to Seattle, following the end of the hit '80s sitcom Cheers. His own series proved to be just as popular and successful as its predecessor, focusing on his life in his hometown as he rekindled a relationship with his father, Martin, and brother, Niles. While the psychiatrist was far from Cheers, plenty of the bar's regulars made their presence known in his life -- including his ex-wife, Lilith (played by Bebe Neuwirth).
Frasier made a habit of bringing Lilith back, particularly due to their shared bond over their son, Frederick. These episodes would often compare and contrast the ex-couple, showing how far they'd come from the conclusion of Cheers. Lilith gave the spin-off some of its best episodes and funniest moments, whether showing the impact she had on Frasier's insecurities or her tenacity as a mother -- and fans still love her for it.

In 1993, "Cheers" wrapped up after 11 seasons. That same year "Frasier" debuted, and ran for another 11 seasons until 2004. Almost 20 years after that, star Kelsey Grammer led a revival of the beloved sitcom that saw Dr. Crane relocate from Seattle to Boston, the city in which he first appeared some 40 years prior, during the third season of "Cheers."
When you factor in Frasier's 1992 guest appearance on another show set in the "Cheers" universe, "Wings," you have a character who has been played by the same actor since his debut across four separate series and four decades. That's pretty impressive, regardless of whether season one of the "Frasier" revival felt like a series that should have been a one-off special. The only character to match Frasier's four-show record is Bebe Neuwirth's Lilith Sternin, who returned for the "Frasier" revival and secured her place within sitcom history as a result.

It didn't take long for the conversation to tilt toward the future of the Jumanji franchise. Kasdan was asked about the possible return of Kirsten Dunst's character, Judy Sheperd, in the upcoming sequel to be released in 2026. Per Kasdan's answer:
"We love Kirsten. Shes fantastic. From the time we did Welcome to the Jungle, we were very focused on keeping a little bit of connectivity to the original movie,...

Jake Kasdan unveils the difficulties of bringing back the original Jumanji cast members into his sequels, and how he has tried to create a larger, connected world. The director helmed 2017's Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, which saw a new form of the titular game transport four teens in detention to a wild, fantastical jungle within a video game, unable to escape until they complete every level. Another sequel followed in 2019, with a third Jumanji sequel confirmed to be in development in 2020.
Recently, Kasdan sat down with The Hollywood Reporter and opened up about the secrets of his other fantastical series. While he has respect for Kirsten Dunst, who portrayed Judy in the 1995 movie, any hopes of bringing back any of the original Jumanji cast were dashed by the game resetting upon completion and erasing the memory of those involved. "We love Kirsten. Shes fantastic. From the time we did Welcome to the Jungle,...

Fraiser Season 2 Finale Review: Revival's Storytelling Shift Is A Risk That Has An Emotional Pay-Off
Warning! Spoilers ahead for the Frasier season 2 finale.
The Frasier revival's season 2 finale wraps up a slightly improved sophomore year by sticking to its signature storytelling approach. It's no secret that when the Paramount+ reboot of the beloved sitcom was announced, it was met with a divisive response considering the risks of bringing it back. It didn't help that the majority of its original ensemble isn't involved, including David Hyde Pierce's Niles and Jane Leeves' Daphne. The Frasier season 1 finale effectively addressed the show's premise, which was about Frasier reconnecting with his son, Freddy. However, Paramount+ deemed that the series deserved at least another year.
Frasier
Cast Stefanie Yunger, Jessica McKenna, Nike Doukas, Robert Barela, Shon Levi, Annette Shar, David Theune, Nora Yates, Chris Farah, Gogo Pandit, Monique Edwards, Patrick Rafferty, Danice Cabanela, Cheyenne Perez, John Bucy, Amy L. Workman, Owen Lloyd, Renee Pezzotta, Brittney Baxter, Amari McCoy, David Sargsyan,...

I don’t like thinking about it, but we’re fast approaching Blue Bloods’ end.
With only six episodes to go, we’re a quarter of the way through the final batch of episodes, and Blue Bloods Season 14 Episode 13 introduces a character who may be pivotal to the final story.
The good news is that this character is played by the legendary Mira Sorvino, and her scenes with Frank should be particularly interesting.
