In Patty Jenkins' 2020 superhero flick "Wonder Woman 1984," an evil business tycoon named Maxwell Lorenzano -- better known to the world as Max Lord (Pedro Pascal) -- has a very, very ambitious scheme. He has located a magical wishing crystal called the Dreamstone, and has carefully thought out what he wants to wish for. The Dreamstone, you see, can grant any one wish, but it asks for something abstract in exchange. Max Lord has figured a way to game the system in order to get as many wishes as he wants. If he wishes to become the Dreamstone, then he will be able to grant wishes to other people ... and ask whatever he wants in exchange. It's a win-win. Max Lord, naturally, aims to become more and more powerful, granting wishes to dictators and Presidents, asking for control of land, armies, and broadcasting networks in exchange.

Charlie Kirk may have stolen Eric Cartman’s shtick by being the most obstinate, bigoted and preposterously popular right-wing troll on the internet, but Kirk's campaign to turn impressionable young men toward chauvinism is nothing compared to Cartman’s ability to reach these keeds.
Last week, South Park continued its rampage against the conservative establishment propping up President Donald “Saddam Hussein” Trump’s regime with “Got a Nut,” an episode that satirized the Immigration and Customs Enforcement forces and the right-wing masterdebation content industry in the A and B plots respectively. It’s funny how some of the most important and beloved movies of all time can come from stories that aren’t quite as celebrated or well read, and I’m not just talking about movies from 1982. The Thing certainly falls under that category because while Who Goes There is certifiably a great sci-fi story and there have been at least 3 movies based on it, The Thing and John Carpenter will live on far longer than Who Goes There and John W. Campbell. While that certainly doesn’t extend to all famous authors, Stephen King’s name is etched into history and 75% of his adaptations will either be forgotten or redone multiple times over, there’s also that middle ground. Phillip K. Dick has more than his fair share of adaptations out there, but his adaptations typically turn out higher profile than the author or his original works. Blade Runner...

After breaking out as a star thanks to his iconic turn as Ritchie Valens in the biopic La Bamba, Lou Diamond Phillips was everywhere. He joined forces with Edward James Olmos for the acclaimed Stand and Deliver, was part of a stacked ensemble with Brat Pack member Emilio Estevez for Young Guns, and would even go on to earn acclaim on-stage with a Broadway adaptation of The King and I. Among his most memorable performances, though, was his appearance in the 1996 war thriller Courage Under Fire, starring the legendary Denzel Washington as an army officer responsible for a deadly case of friendly fire. However, despite having earned Golden Globe and Tony nominations, he wasn't originally a shoo-in for the role of Staff Sergeant John Monfriez.

With a reputation almost as murky as its titular antihero, it's a wonder that "Dexter" has been able to maintain a legacy as one of the most popular TV shows Showtime ever produced. Despite setting the unfortunate standard for the kind of show that goes on way longer than it should, this late-2000s thriller about a vigilante serial killer convincing himself he's on the side of the angels remains culturally relevant. That's thanks in no small part to series star and executive producer Michael C. Hall, who has worked closely with the network to bring "Dexter" back from the dead ... literally.
Hall is set to return to the small screens as Dexter Morgan with the new sequel series "Dexter: Resurrection," which will pick up shortly after the end of the 2021 miniseries "Dexter: New Blood." That latter show has since been recontextualized by the prequel series "Dexter: Original Sin." With so much of the past,...

Liam Neeson is one of the best Hollywood talents of his generation, proving an accomplished action star, dramatic lead, and an undeniable funny-man. Nominated for just one Academy Award in his career, for his titular role in Steven Spielberg's horrifying epic Schindler's List, Neeson is worthy of as much praise as he can get, with the Northern Irish actor showing no signs of slowing down as he prepares to debut his take on the iconic Frank Drebin's son in the upcoming The Naked Gun.
Ahead of the Akiva Schaffer movie's release on August 1, one of Neeson's more forgotten entries in a filmography stacked with memorable titles has found unlikely streaming success in the U.S. As of July 1, the fantasy flick High Spirits, which was released several years before Neeson became a household name, is officially one of the ten most-streamed movies in the U.S. on streaming site Tubi.

Comedy was an enormously successful genre during the noughties. From biting political satires like Armando Iannucci's 2009 black comedy In the Loopto decade-defining comedies like the painfully relatableSuperbad, by 2010, many of us had burned out as the comedy formula was fine-tuned, and most releases felt uninventive. Alas, that left many comedies from earlier in the previous decade to go severely underrated, even ones with casts stacked with high-profile names.
That is the fate that befell You Again, the 2010 revenge comedy starring Sigourney Weaver, Jamie Lee Curtis, Kristen Bell, and Betty White. Directed by Andy Flickman, the movie stars Bell's Marni, who "is shocked to learn that her brother is marrying her school bully from the past. When she tries to expose her, things do not go as planned." Unfortunately, receiving just 19% from critics on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, with a 43% audience score not helping to overturn poor fortune, You Again...

Keanu Reeves has starred in romances, comedies, monster movies, Shakespeare productions, sci-fi spectaculars, action bonanzas, time travel films, addiction dramas, horror flicks, hengehog adventures, shoot-em-ups, and at least one "SpongeBob" movie. Although he doesn't possess a lot of range as an actor, his personal sense of devotion -- not to mention his relentless decency as a human being -- has fans coming back again and again. He has always seemed interested in variety in his career, equally at peace acting in major blockbusters and tiny low-budget dramas. He has also seemingly valued working with quirky, interesting directors, having acted for the Wachowskis, Ron Howard, Stephen Frears, Kathryn Bigelow, Francis Ford Coppola, Bernardo Bertolucci, Kenneth Branagh, Sam Raimi, Eli Roth, Ana Lily Amirpour, Nicholas Winding Refn, and Alex Winter.
In the early '90s, Reeves made two films with Gus Van Sant, then considered a new voice on the ever-expanding indie movie scene.

When one thinks of Alan Ritchson, one might think of his titular all-American heroin the hugely successful Reacher, or perhaps of his role in Fast X alongside the likes of Vin Diesel, Jason Momoa, Brie Larson, and Jason Statham. The last thing many may think of is the comedy genre, especially one of the many funny films in the revolving door of Kevin Hart's content. Well, think again, as Ritchson did once appear as one of seven groomsmen in The Wedding Ringer, a Hart-led comedy about one soon-to-be groom having just two weeks to find the men to stand by his side.
Despite certainly being a forgotten entry into both Hart and Ritchson's back catalogs, The Wedding Ringer has found some unlikely new success, ten years on since its release. Officially, the film is one of the ten most-streamed titles on Tubi in the US, as of June 19, 2025. At #8 in the list,...

Back in the summer of 2013, Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg teamed up for 2 Guns, a slick, no-nonsense buddy action-comedy that paired two of Hollywood’s biggest stars for a tale of double crosses, explosions, and bickering bromance. Now, after a decade of flying somewhat under the radar, 2 Guns is about to get a new lease on life — this time, on the free streaming platform Tubi, starting July 1. If you missed it the first time around, or just want to relive the chaotic charm of Wahlberg and Washington’s unlikely duo, this is your moment.
Directed by Baltasar Kormákur (Everest), 2 Guns follows Robert “Bobby Beans” Trench (Washington), an undercover DEA agent, and Michael “Stig” Stigman (Wahlberg), an undercover U.S. Navy Seal. The kicker? Neither of them knows the other is undercover. It's like wearing the same outfit to a party, how embarrassing for them. The two men...

Writer-director Luca Bueno’s short thriller Bodies will premiere this week in Laliff’s Terra Incognita shorts program, adding police-procedural tension to the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival’s 90-plus-title slate at Tcl Chinese Theatres from 28 May to 1 June.
The 16-minute film tracks two LAPD officers answering a disturbance call in an immigrant neighborhood where Officer Alvarez notices cultural clues that point to a far deeper crisis inside the modest home. Bueno says the premise arose from stories he heard while growing up in Pico-Union, a district shaped by Central-American migration, and wanted “to show the humanity behind headlines that often reduce us to statistics.”
Speaking to Deadline, the 26-year-old filmmaker stressed that casting Latino actors in every principal role was non-negotiable: “If the officers and the family didn’t speak Spanish at home, the film would ring false.” He also revealed that festival programmers placed Bodies in a...

Dexter Season 6 slices deep into faith, prophecy, and blood-soaked scripture. Our favorite Dark Passenger is back on the hunt—but this time, he’s not just following blood spatter. He’s unraveling a cryptic trail of Book of Revelation-style murders orchestrated by the so-called Doomsday Killers (Ddk), a duo made up of Professor James Gellar and his devoutly deranged disciple, Travis Marshall.
As Miami Metro scrambles to decode the gore-stained gospel, Dexter juggles ritual killings, fatherhood, and his own twisted sense of salvation. And while the season teases danger for little Harrison, the overkill in foreshadowing turns suspense into a shadow that never quite takes shape.
Dark, symbolic, and occasionally overstuffed, Season 6 is Dexter doing Dan Brown—only with more blood and fewer codes.

Brett Goldstein might be one of the more underrated players in movies and TV series. He doesn't just act, either. Nor does he only act and write. He creates, and what he comes up with are some excellent and highly entertaining ideas.
Many might know him from playing Roy Kent on the Apple TV series, Ted Lasso. Kent is a good-hearted menace. He is not easy to please, but he will help those in need. Goldstein plays the character dynamically and exceptionally well.
Some might know him from another Apple TV series, Shrinking. His part is minor on that show (he doesn't appear until season two), but essential. He plays the character who drives drunk and kills Jason Siegel's character's wife. The show is a comedy with a heavy dose of kind-hearted drama. Goldstein also co-wrote the episodes and created the show.

Jennifer Lopez is going back to her rom-com roots. But this Office Romance is definitely not safe for work.
Lopez stars alongside Brett Goldstein in the upcoming film, which recently kicked off production. “Every day I come to work to do a rom-com with Jennifer Lopez and this incredible cast, and I expect people to jump out and tell me I’m being pranked,” says Goldstein. “Hasn’t happened yet, so maybe this is real?” See new photos below that Lopez posted from set!
Penned by Goldstein and Joe Kelly, Office Romance will be directed by Ol Parker (Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again) and co-stars Betty Gilpin. The reimagined "Battlestar Galactica" is one of the greatest and most ambitious science-fiction television shows ever aired. When "Galactica" begins, humanity is living on 12 colony planets named in tribute to the signs of the Zodiac: Caprica, Tauron, etc. About 50 years ago, mankind created robotic servants called the Cylons, who rebelled and waged war until an armistice.
When the series begins, the Cylons (who have upgraded into human-like forms) return and wipe out the 12 colonies. The 50,000 or so survivors flee in a spaceship fleet, guarded by a "Battlestar" warship, Galactica. Led by William Adama (Edward James Olmos) and President Laura Roslin (Mary McDonnell), the survivors search for the fabled 13th colony: Earth.
Co-creators Ronald D. Moore and David Eick rebooted the short-lived 1978 original "Galactica" by taking out the cheese in favor of drama and political resonance. Moore, who broke into TV writing on "Star Trek: The Next Generation," got to air...

'Coco 2' is in development at Pixar Animation Studios.Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger confirmed during the company's annual meeting of shareholders that the sequel, a follow-up of the 2017 original, is in "the initial stages". He said: "While the film is just in the initial stages, we know it will be full of humour, heart and adventure. "And we can't wait to share more soon."The original movie - which won two Oscars, for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song for 'Remember Me' - told the story of 12-year-old Miguel, who dreamed of becoming a musician, despite his family's generations-old ban on music. It should surprise no one that Bad Bunny decided to drop the long-anticipated music video for “LA MuDANZA” on his 31st birthday. The song is a riotous salsa track that — like one of DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS’ other mega hits, “Baile INoLVIDABLE” — borrows from the salsa gorda era of the genre. It’s deeply personal, too: It opens with a spoken word snippet of Benito retelling the story of how his parents came of age in the Nineties, crossed paths serendipitously, and eventually had the kid who is now an international superstar.

Many directors' films end up with multiple versions as a result of studio intervention, international re-cuts, or re-released director's cuts. Ridley Scott is certainly one of those filmmakers, having created different director's cuts for 10 movies throughout his career — Robin Hood, Alien, Black Hawk Down, American Gangster, The Martian, Gladiator, The Counselor, Legend, Kingdom of Heaven, and, perhaps most controversially, his sci-fi masterpiece, 1982's Blade Runner. The 1992 re-edit of the film is, despite some controversy, widely considered to be one of the greatest director's cuts of all time, eliminating certain things and inserting others (the unicorn dream) in order to create more metaphysical mystery and ambiguity. But that wasn't the only director's cut of Blade Runner.
In 2007, for the 25th anniversary of Blade Runner, Ridley Scott released what is known as 'The Final Cut' of the film, which is now streaming on Netflix beginning today (you can watch it...

Four years ago, Hulu, along with Battlestar Galactica showrunner Ronald D. Moore, optioned the book series for a television series adaptation. A Court of Thorns and Roses consists of five books published from 2015 to 2021 that follow 19-year-old Feyre after she is brought to the faerie lands of Pyrthian. A sixth book in the series is reportedly still in the works.

One of the most well-reviewed Marvel shows in recent memory is probably one many fans have not watched. Sporting a 100% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur follows a 13-year-old girl named Lunella, a supergenius who accidentally brings a (very lovable) dinosaur into modern-day New York City. Together, they are a crime-fighting duo that has the rare combination of being incredibly cute but also very powerful. After being unceremoniously canceled last year, Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur will be ending on its own terms with the back half of Season 2.

Battlestar Galactica has earned critical acclaim throughout the years as the series boasts some memorable performances by actors who've starred in a variety of other remarkable projects. It's not an easy task to impress the cult following of a short-lived series like the original Battlestar Galactica, but the re-imagined sci-fi series from the 2000s managed to pull it off. The Syfy original series ran for four seasons and is filled with compelling character relationships and interstellar conflict. Actors like Edward James Olmos, Katee Sackhoff, and Jamie Bamber lead the series and are beloved by audiences for their sci-fi roles.
The series' main cast is made up of re-imagined versions of characters in the original Battlestar Galactica, but the show introduces some new characters as well. Olmos and Mary McDonnell are among the actors in Battlestar Galactica whose biggest role outside the show came before its premiere. Other actors like Grace Park...

Dexter is a show that constantly forces its audience to question the titular character’s murderous morals. Played excellently by the great Michael C. Hall, Dexter is a show packed with brutal moments, tragic storytelling and gory kills.
Some of these kills, to fans, have made their place in history as some of Dexter’s best. Whether for style or for story, Dexter’s eight-season run has had some iconic murders that make audiences question how much they should enjoy the show.
Dexter Puts an End to the Doomsday Killer Killed in Season 6, Episode 12, “This Is the Way the World Ends”
Colin Hanks takes on the almost impossible position of Dexter’s main villain for season six, following up some of the most heinous and brutal serial killers seen on television. The Blade Runner franchise received a long-awaited sequel in 2017 from Denis Villeneuve, and although it was hailed by many as another masterpiece, the film failed to make a splash at the box office. Since then, another big-screen installment has been out of the conversation, but audiences will be re-entering the futuristic neo-noir world soon enough. Amazon is currently developing Blade Runner 2099, a television series starring Michelle Yeoh that will serve as the latest sequel to Ridley Scott's original 1982 classic.
According to Discussing Film, Blade Runner 2099 has officially wrapped production, which took place in the Czech Republic. Alongside the 2023 Best Actress Oscar winner, Euphoria star Hunter Schafer is set as the co-lead for the upcoming Blade Runner sequel. Due to the union strikes in 2023, the show's production was delayed several times before finally finishing filming late this year. As one could assume, plot details have remained scarce at best,...

Dexter has never been short of managing to wrangle some truly fantastic guest stars to work into the original and spin-off series’ magnificent, harrowing and sometimes downright weird seasons. Guest stars have included the likes of Jimmy Smits, John Lithgow, Edward James Olmos and Ray Stevens to name a few.
The prequel series has continued this trend of capturing talent with Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s Sarah Michelle Gellar as Tanya Martins heading up the forensics department at Miami Metro. Gellar takes on the role of Dexter’s mentor in crime scene analysis, a part that must be major for the story, given the significance of casting such a notable name for the part.
