“He doesn’t want to hide away”: BTS News on Disney-Jared Leto Tension After Allegations From 9 Women
Disney finds itself in hot water after Jared Leto, the lead star of the upcoming movie, Tron: Ares, faced accusations of s*xual misconduct. The studio is reportedly currently engaged in “crisis talks” to determine a promotional strategy amidst the disturbing allegations.
Nine women, including model Laura La Rue, accused Leto of engaging in inappropriate behavior, including flirting with teenagers. The report from Air Mail came out on June 7, and the actor denied the claims by these women. His representatives claimed that the “communications contain nothing s*xual or inappropriate” (via THR).
While there are no charges or civil suits filed against the Suicide Squad actor, the serious allegations could impact his image and the release of his film, Tron Ares. Disney’s marketing team is reportedly concerned about the film’s proportion. According to a source, the team had planned a major panel for the film at the upcoming...

From 1987 to 1995, ABC's family sitcom "Full House" entertained audiences with its exploration into the lives of the Tanner family household led by widower Danny Tanner (Bob Saget). Danny raised his three daughters, D.J. (Candace Cameron Bure), Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin), and Michelle (Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen) with the help of his brother-in-law Jesse Katsopolis (John Stamos) and best friend Joey Gladstone (Dave Coulier) in his titular full house in San Francisco, CA. Throughout the series' eight-year run, the Tanner household grows larger, as does the property value of the house itself.
Over 20 years after the original series' conclusion, Netflix's "Fuller House" caught viewers up with the Tanners' lives in the 21st century, with the now-grown-up widowed mother D.J. raising her three sons with the help of her sister Stephanie and best friend Kimmy Gibbler (Andrea Barber). Premise sure sounds familiar, huh? Well, given the timeless nature of family-related sitcoms,...

Technically it’s 21, because the Smothers Brothers did it twice. Sue us.
20 Peter Cook and Dudley Moore
The 11th episode of Season One was the first double-hoster, featuring the duo behind Pete and Dud, a wildly popular British satirical odd couple.
19 Richard Benjamin and Paula Prentiss
Benjamin had hosted solo earlier in his career, but Prentiss’ career took off in its own right, the two had a CBS sitcom called He & She, and they became the first married couple to host SNL in 1980.
18 The Smothers Brothers
Tommy and Dick Smothers graced Studio 8H twice, in 1982 and 1983.
17 Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas
Moranis and Thomas rode their Canadian bro characters, Sctv’s McKenzie Brothers, to an SNL appearance in 1983, multiple commercials and their own movie.

Full Housestar Candace Cameron Bure, who plays D.J. Tanner in the show and the sequel Fuller House, has recently spoken out about the sitcom’s huge success. Every season of Full Housefocuses on the Tanner family: children D.J., Stephanie, and Michelle, their widowed father, Danny, their uncle Jesse, and family friend Joey. Together, the group causes all manner of chaos and hilarity, and their wholesome escapades are the reason Full House is one of the most notable sitcoms of all time.
In a recent episode of the Hey Dude... The 90s Called! podcast (via EW), hosted by Christine Taylor and David Lascher, Cameron Bure acknowledges Full House’s popularity as a sitcom, and what about it made it such a success:

Jared Leto has always maintained an air of mystery both on-screen and off. Known for his transformative roles and rockstar persona, the Suicide Squad actor has also made headlines for his often-speculated love life. Over the years, Leto has been romantically linked to a long list of A-list names, including Cameron Diaz, Scarlett Johansson, Lindsay Lohan, Ashley Olsen, and Katy Perry.
But of all his rumored romances, his relationship with Russian model Valery Kaufman may have been his most enduring, albeit low-key. The two were first spotted together in 2015 during Leto’s Suicide Squad filming days in New York. While rarely seen in public, they appeared to maintain an on-and-off relationship over the years. Amid all the speculations about his personal life, Leto managed to keep everything under wraps.

Full Housewas so beloved that the sitcom, which ran for eight seasons from 1987 to 1995, spawned a spinoff in Netflix’s Fuller House. The latter ran for an additional five seasons and brought back nearly all the original cast, including Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber, who now host a rewatch podcast called How Rude, Tanneritos!.
Sweetin played middle daughter Stephanie Tanner in Full House, while Barber was the annoying neighbor, Kimmy Gibbler, who was also best friends with Candace Cameron Bure’s D.J. Tanner. While some would argue that the younger actors were the stars of the show, particularly Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's Michelle and siblings, the series was led by the likes of John Stamos, Dave Coulier, and the late Bob Saget. Saget passed away in 2022 at the age of 65.

Austin Nichols has spoken about a moment from early in his acting career that he now views with discomfort. While appearing on the Drama Queens podcast, Nichols described his experience filming a kiss scene with then-15-year-old Mary-Kate Olsen in the 2001 teen movie Holiday in the Sun, saying the situation felt inappropriate at the time.
“I was definitely nervous because Mary-Kate was 15, and I was, I think, 18 or 19, or maybe even 20,” Nichols said. “I don’t remember, but I was too old, and it felt weird, and it felt wrong.”
He explained that although the characters appeared age-compatible on screen, he remained aware of the age difference while filming. “I looked very young, so watching the movie, I don’t think you notice. I’m real tall and skinny and, like, nerdy, but I don’t think you can tell there’s a big age difference. But for my brain,...

Being a kid on a sitcom is tough. If you manage to dodge addiction issues and kleptomaniacal parents, one thing will still always be gunning for you: Father Time. When sitcoms center around a family with at least one young child, a decent percentage of its humor usually comes from the young kid saying impossibly pithy lines crafted by adults.
But as the kid gets older, they often get less cute and their character is forced to change. So, where do all those snarky remarks and cutesy moments go? The solution is usually the same: bring in a brand-new cute kid regardless how much shoe-horning you need to do.
It’s happened a lot in sitcoms — like, dozens of them — but here are five of the best examples...

George R.R. Martin is a man of many feuds, unfinished books vs. his writing pace, fans vs. their patience, and apparently, George vs. the Olsen twins. Yes, you read that right.
The legendary mind behind Game of Thrones holds an unexpected and hilariously petty grudge against Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. Who knew that Westeros’ greatest nemesis wasn’t the White Walkers but rather two adorable sitcom stars from Full House?

While the elder Olsens were out there unintentionally tormenting Martin’s TV career, their younger sister, Elizabeth Olsen, had her own hilarious run-in with the Game of Thrones universe. Unlike her twin sisters, she wasn’t out to ruin Martin’s success, she was actually hoping to be part of it. But let’s just say her audition didn’t exactly go the way she had hoped.

Fuller Housewas a Netflix original series that ran for five seasons. The show was essentially a "where are they now?" for fans of Full House. D.J. Tanner (Candace Cameron-Bure) is now a veterinarian with her own practice, Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin) is an international deejay and aspiring singer, and Kimmy Gibbler (Andrea Barber) runs a party planning business. When D.J.'s husband dies in the line of duty, Stephanie and Kimmy move in to help her raise her three kids: Jackson, Max, and Tommy. Kimmy also brings along her own daughter, Ramona. Meanwhile, Danny Tanner, Jesse, Rebecca, and the twins, and Joey Gladstone (Dave Coulier) also pop in on various episodes. Steve Hale (Scott Weinger) is also back to bring a "will-they-or-won't-they" romantic dynamic for D.J.
The child stars of Fuller House bring a lot of heart to their characters. They also have impressive comedic timing with their line deliveries.

Full House is arguably one of the funniest sitcoms to grace the curved TV screens of the 1980s and '90s. The Tanner family and friends are remembered for more than their heartwarming moments. Thanks to Joey's goofy antics, Michelle's catchphrases, Kimmy Gibbler's mishaps, and laugh-out-loud comedic deliveries, this show will forever live in the sitcom Hall of Fame.
Full House fans may watch and re-watch this beloved series for nostalgia, but they will always treasure it for its delightful humor. The average sitcom relies on the comedic strengths of two to three main characters, while the side characters tend to only fill in with dialogue as needed. What makes Full House great is that every single cast member, including those who only make occasional appearances, is brilliantly funny each time and in their own individual way.

Considering the death of Pam Tanner kicked off the plot of Full House, why did the ABC sitcom ignore her absence for most of its eight-season run? Fans don’t know why, and, as it turns out, cast members Andrea Barber (Kimmy Gibbler) and Jodie Sweetin (Stephanie Tanner) don’t either. Barber and Sweetin discussed Pam’s short shrift during the February 20 “minisode” of their podcast, How Rude, Tanneritos!, as they reacted to Reddit users’ complaints about Full House. And one of the quibbles is that the show hardly mentioned Pam. As fans know, Pam welcomed daughters D.J. The 2025 edition of the Sundance Film Festival unspooled in Park City on Thursday with a packed schedule of red carpet premieres and Main Street-set parties. The night’s centerpiece showing came courtesy of Sundance newbie James Sweeney, who presented the world premiere of his sophomore feature, Twinless, in which he co-stars opposite Dylan O’Brien.

If you're of a certain age, you basically grew up with Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, the twins who took Hollywood by storm from the late 1980s through the mid-2000s. After getting their start on an uber-popular sitcom, the twins were known for their films, many of which brought them all over the world, and it certainly seemed like they were on the brink of forming an enormous entertainment empire. Then, the two basically disappeared from the entertainment industry and shifted their focus to something completely different: high fashion.
So, why aren't the two acting anymore, and what are they doing today? More specifically, why did they leave Hollywood behind for a brand new journey ... and did any of their family members take their place on the big and small screen? (The answer to that last one is yes, actually.) Here's everything we know about the world-famous Olsen twins, why they stopped acting,...

Ever since the invention of splicing and clever camera trickery, there have been instances of utilizing the same actor to portray a set of twins in film. Some talented twins have played the roles individually, notably Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, and Tia and Tamera Mowry. However, sometimes, it's even more exciting when the roles are played by just one person. This allows the actor to showcase their varied abilities and gives audiences an extra layer of excitement as they try and figure out just how the directors were able to pull off the switch.
What's also interesting is that, quite often, these two twins represent very different types of people. Whether one is more creative and the other more logical, one very privileged and the other having to face more disadvantages, or even one good, one evil, there are countless tropes that get to be explored. Films with twins played...

Tia Mowry became a huge star as part of a packaged deal with her twin sister Tamera. Although the sisters made their debut on network television, fans felt a strong kinship with the adorable twin sisters that became a larger-than-life Nickolodeon staple. Like twin peers, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, Tia and Tamera's names were always mentioned together. For years, the twins starred in television and even movies together, appealing to a youthful demographic. Because their monster television hit, Sister,Sister utilized their first names as their main characters, it was easy for fans to feel like they knew the identical twin sisters born to military parents in Gelnhausen, Germany. As the sisters transitioned to womanhood, it was difficult for some fans to see them as adults as opposed to squeaky-clean teenage girls. Like most child stars, Tia and Tamera struggled to find their individuality as adults after being on...

George R.R. Martin has worked in many genres and types of entertainment like movies, shows, and epic series. Naturally, the veteran author knows a challenge when he sees one.

That is what happened in 1987 when Martin saw NBC putting up a show on air starring Elizabeth Olsen’s twin sisters, Mary Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen. George R.R. Martin naturally, saw a challenge when the show aired.
George R.R. Martin hates the Olsen twins!
It’s not their fault, obviously since in 1987, George R.R. Martin was working on a show called Beauty and the Beast. It was a TV Show in which Martin served as the writer and their ratings were going quite high.

John Stamos is partly to blame for the Olsen Twins Fuller House absence, due to Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's decision to pass on the reunion project in 2016. Netflix released the spin-off sequel to the beloved '80s/'90s family sitcom, Full House, with the main cast all returning — except the Olsen twins in their shared role as Michelle. The youngest Tanner sister was nowhere to be found after Fuller House failed to convince the Olsen twins to join the show. Instead, Kimmy — the Tanners' long-time neighbor — became a lead character in the sequel, effectively taking over Michelle's would-be spot.
Fuller House explained the absence of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen by revealing Michelle was now based in New York running a fashion empire. Michelle was a major draw in the original Full House, and not seeing Danny's youngest daughter throughout Fuller House's five-year run was definitely disappointing. Although the...

The mere mention of a remake or revival has the potential to strike fear into the heart of any entertainment lover. It evokes nauseating flashbacks of brain-rotting shows like 2008's "Knight Rider" or 2021's "Gossip Girl." That said, it isn't always a bleach-in-the-eye situation. Yes, there are good revivals and remakes of TV shows from the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s.
While nostalgia often holds back people from seeing the forest through the trees, there are instances when the modernized version of a series proves to be better than the original. Take "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" as a prime example. The sitcom turned Will Smith into a household name and features a legendary theme song, but it isn't often credited among the best sitcoms of all time. By comparison, the reimagined "Bel-Air" flips the focus to the intercharacter drama rather than the situational laughs, coming out a much stronger and resonating program in the end.

The sci-fi thriller Subservience explores the chaotic dangers of artificial intelligence and androids, and it counts on the talents of a well-known cast. Sci-fi, horror, and thriller have found a theme in common in recent years thanks to the rise of AI in different areas – and, of course, filmmakers have seized this topic to tell terrifying stories about the pros and cons of AI. Among them is Subservience, directed by S. K. Dale and written by Will Honley, which takes the audience to a near future where technology has advanced to the point of developing lifelike androids powered by AI.
Subservience focuses on Nick’s family after his wife, Maggie, is hospitalized due to an unspecified (but threatening) heart condition. Unable to manage the household on his own, Nick buys an AI android, which they refer to as “sim”, to help him around the house and with his kids while Maggie is in the hospital.

Saturday Night Live celebrated Thanksgiving with the “it girls” this year.
The sketch revolved around a Thanksgiving dinner featuring the episode’s host Charli Xcx as Posh Spice herself, Victoria Beckham.
It also included Bowen Yang as Marc Jacobs, Chloe Fineman as Julia Fox, Ego Nwodim as Naomi Campbell, Sarah Sherman as Rachel Sennott, Ashley Padilla and Jane Wickline as Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, Heidi Gardner as Cher and Kenan Thompson as Law Roach.
Cher was in charge of doing the cooking, though it soon becomes clear she shouldn’t be trusted in the kitchen once she pours Sprite in the gravy.

Full House star, Dave Coulier reveals he is facing a devasting diagnosis “head-on” after the life-altering news. He is still looking at the glass “as half full,” but struggling through the new challenges.
Dave Coulier Has Brought Joy To Many
Earlier in the month, several of the Full House costars reunited for a special occasion to honor former costar, Bob Saget. The popular 90s sitcom was enjoyable for many people who tuned in religiously to watch Bob Saget, John Stamos, Lori Loughlin, Candace Cameron Bure, Dave Coulier, Jodie Sweetin, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen team up. Danny was raising his daughters unconventionally with the help of Uncle Jesse and funny-man, Uncle Joey. Undoubtedly, they captured many hearts with their portrayal of sticking together through thick and thin. However, now Dave has received crushing news in his real life that he has cancer.

CBS Studios has officially axed another reboot of The Brady Bunch, and Cindy Brady actress Susan Olsen is supposedly taking the blame. According to Olsen, the studio disliked her conservative opinions and support for Donald Trump but some sources are arguing that the cancelation was actually due to a hateful tirade from Olsen that included homophobic slurs and offensive language.
The newest Brady Brunch project was tentatively in the works two years ago, but had not been picked up by networks or streaming services, and it's unclear if a script was ever written. The revival would have focused on the lives of the original Brady Bunch children as they navigated adulthood, but unfortunately never came to fruition due to Olsen's comments. Appearing on the Walk Away Campaign podcast, Olsen reported that she had been fired from the role by CBS due to her political beliefs, stating, "I did have a...

Death has been on Elizabeth Olsen’s mind lately. It started — or, rather, became much more acute — on a recent helicopter ride. The actress was on an East Coast press tour for her new movie, His Three Daughters, and Netflix scheduled a junket day in New York City, followed by a screening out in the Hamptons. The tight turnaround meant that Olsen, her co-star Natasha Lyonne and a studio rep had only one way to get there in time.
“I’ll never do it again,” she says. “It was 45 minutes straight of me creating a narrative about how I’m going to die.” As she’s telling this story, she divulges that, actually, she thinks about her own death all the time. The notion of the chopper hurtling over greater Long Island takes its place in line behind car accidents and random acts of violence.

Fuller House floated the idea that Michelle is already dead, but the youngest Tanner daughter may have never had the chance to grow up at all, as she could've actually died in the original Full House finale. Played alternately by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Michelle Tanner was one of the fan-favorite characters from the late '80s/early '90s family sitcom. So, many were understandably disappointed when she didn't show up in Fuller House.
Refusing to recast Michelle, Fuller House was forced to come up with an excuse to explain her absence. Since the Full House franchise put a lot of emphasis on the importance of family, the sequel had to find a justifiable excuse for Michelle not coming back home while all of this was happening. The producer mined inspiration from the Olsen Twins' real-life job, revealing that their sitcom character is now based in New York where she runs her fashion empire.

In Dexter, the titular serial killer has a biological son named Harrison Morgan, and while Dexter's kid has appeared in every season of the show since season 4, including the sequel Dexter: New Blood, several actors have played him. At the end of season 4, Harrisons mother, Rita (Julie Benz), is murdered, and he is left to be raised by his serial killer father. In the Dexter series finale, a slightly older Harrison is left in the care of Dexter's love interest and fellow killer Hannah (Yvonne Strahovski), who raises him in Argentina after Dexter is presumed dead.
Harrison Morgan (Jack Alcott) shows back up in Dexter: New Blood season 1 and reconnects with his dad. Now, Harrison has a mixture of cold indifference, teenage angst, and simmering violence lurking beneath the surface. Unfortunately Dexter: New Blood ends with Harrison killing his father, as he realizes Dexter fits Harry's code. There were two Harrison Morgan recasts,...

Tia and Tamera Mowry are Hollywood royalty. When you see Tia or her twin sister you automatically expect the project to be done with class and substance. Their entertainment careers have managed to hold them in the highest regard with roles that celebrate strength and are usually empowering in some way. The adorable twin sisters grew up on the comedy sitcom Sister,Sister, earning them a die-hard fan base and a huge piece of the pop culture pie. One of the biggest differences between Tia and Tamera and other child stars such as Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen was the idea that Sister,Sister cast Tia and Tamera's characters using their government names. This gave audiences a different form of familiarity with the sisters. It felt as if audiences really got to know Tia and Tamera through the lens of their characters. That familiarity could've proven to be a burden to the sisters,...

While it is not as common in today's streaming era, during the golden age of network TV, pilot episodes were used to pitch a show to network executives. These pilots would often be filmed months before the rest of the series, allowing time for showrunners to make the changes and adjustments needed to satisfy the higher-ups. These changes are usually script rewrites, costume redesigns, and sometimes even casting changes.
It was common for pilot episodes to be filmed and then recast if the executives felt a certain actor wasn't fitting in with the rest of the ensemble. Sometimes, actors are offered other roles and decide to leave the series after filming the pilot. Sometimes, these pilots would be reshot with a new actor, and other times, the character would mysteriously change appearance in between the first and second episodes.

Andrea Barber admits she was nervous about introducing Kimmy's family in Fuller House, fearing fan backlash and questions. Despite micro-continuity issues, Fuller House solidified Kimmy as a Tanner family member, elevating her from a supporting role. By embracing Kimmy as part of the Tanner family, the Netflix sequel allowed for unique storylines and character development.
Kimmy Gibbler actor Andrea Barber admits to being wary of the fan backlash from retconning the family aspect of her character in Fuller House. Four years since the Fuller House finale on Netflix, the family sitcom remains a comfort show on the platform thanks to its nostalgic storytelling and subject. With that comes a couple of podcasts looking back at the Full House franchise's history, allowing people involved in both shows to reveal new information about their respective characters. That's exactly the case when Barber recently addressed a major change to her character in the Netflix sequel spinoff.

Recasting pivotal TV show characters can lead to a noticeable shift in the tone and dynamic of the series. Characters like grandmothers or matriarchs benefit from consistency, making recasting more challenging. Audiences tend to respond poorly to changes in casting, especially for iconic roles on long-running shows.
When an actor decides it's time to leave a TV show, this might leave the creative team with the impossible task of finding a new performer to replace them. Depending on how long an actor has been on a series, this could be a huge change to the show's character dynamic, and it might mean that audiences will notice a distinct shift in the tone and style of the story. While there have been some instances when the replacement actor's performance went on to be considered the definitive version, in most cases, the original actors are the best.
