How Friends Hid Its Stars’ Pregnancies On Screen—The Clever Tricks They Used
Image
Here’s how Friends hid the pregnancies of the main stars ( Photo Credit – Instagram )

Sometimes, TV magic isn’t just about the laughs – it’s about clever tricks behind the scenes. Friends fans remember Phoebe’s surprise pregnancy in season 4, but Lisa Kudrow’s real-life bump had a twist. Instead of hiding it, the writers got creative and made Phoebe a surrogate for her half-brother! Brilliant, right? This kept Kudrow’s pregnancy in the spotlight while staying true to Phoebe’s quirky roots.

Pregnancies on TV are common, but Friends took it up a notch. Kudrow’s character was all about that free-spirited vibe, so turning her into a mom would’ve felt off. Instead, the writers rolled with it, making Phoebe pregnant with triplets. It was the perfect fix, keeping Friends rolling without missing a beat.

Kudrow has shared how heartwarming the experience was, especially with her castmates. Recalling her time on set,...

Get ready for 'Freakier Friday' with these 7 hilarious body-swap movies
Image
Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan return Friday, Aug. 8 — here’s what to stream in the meantime.

I love a good body-swap comedy… so much in fact that my wife and I wrote a body-swap movie script! There’s just something so fun about watching two people fumble around in the wrong body — it’s physical, it’s emotional, and it never really gets old. That’s why I’m psyched to see “Freakier Friday,” when it hits theaters on Friday, Aug. 8. Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan are back (!!), and this time it’s Anna’s turn to deal with a family swap mess of her own. But since it’s not streaming yet, I figured I’d run through the best body-swap comedies you can watch right now. So, here are my favorite body-swap comedy movies on streaming right now.

Older Than Friends: This One Reddit Post Shows How Long Grrm Has Been Promising ‘The Winds of Winter’
Image
It’s mind-blowing to think that George R.R. Martin has actually been planning to write The Winds of Winter not for 14 years but for three decades. A fan shared an email screenshot dated January 25, 1994, on Reddit:

(Spoilers Extended) The very first mention of The Winds of Winter was in 1994

byu/Expensive-Country801 inasoiaf

If you’re feeling old, remember that this was also the year Friends debuted its first season. Iconic movies such as The Shawshank Redemption and The Lion King also made their way into the theaters. Indeed, 1994 was such a long time ago!

It’s worth noting that the author sent his original outline to his publisher in 1993, in which he revealed that he was planning to write an epic trilogy.

Bruce Willis' 43% Rotten Tomatoes Action-Comedy Is Now Streaming for Free
Image
On paper, The Whole Nine Yards had all the ingredients for box office success in 2000: Bruce Willis, fresh off a decade of being one of Hollywood’s most bankable action stars; Matthew Perry, mid-Friends fame and trying to stretch into cinematic stardom; and a glossy studio comedy premise about a hitman moving in next door to a neurotic suburban dentist. The film delivered financially in one of the year’s most competitive box office weekends — but critically? Well, that’s another story.

Now streaming for free on Pluto TV, The Whole Nine Yards is one of those high-concept oddities that feels very much of its time — not just in its style or casting, but in how it mismatches its parts so enthusiastically you almost admire the confusion. It’s a gangster comedy with barely any laughs. A buddy flick where the chemistry feels more curious than compelling. And in hindsight,...

The Sam Raimi Superhero Movie Julia Roberts Rejected Because of Liam Neeson
Image
Before helming the beloved Spider-Man trilogy, director Sam Raimi first tried his hand at the superhero genre with the 1990 movie Darkman. In the movie, actor Liam Neeson plays Dr. Peyton Westlake, and actress Julia Roberts was considered for the role of his love interest.

According to reports, Roberts even auditioned for the role before stepping away because of Neeson’s involvement in the project. The two had recently broken up when the Raimi-directed movie was in the casting process. Here is why Julia Roberts turned down Darkman following her breakup with Liam Neeson.

Julia Roberts Rejected Sam Raimi’s Darkman Because of Breakup with Liam Neeson

Liam Neeson and Julia Roberts worked together on the 1988 comedy-drama movie Satisfaction. Although the movie received mostly negative reviews, it sparked a romance between a then-19-year-old Roberts and 35-year-old Neeson, who met during its production (via Irish Star).

Image
The doctor who gave Matthew Perry ketamine before his death has now pleaded guilty to illegally supplying the drug. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Dr. Salvador Plasencia entered his plea in a Los Angeles court on Wednesday.

He admitted to four counts of ketamine distribution and could face up to 10 years in prison for each charge.

Plasencia was one of five people charged after Perry died from a ketamine overdose in October 2023. The actor, best known for playing Chandler Bing on Friends, was found unresponsive in his hot tub at home in Los Angeles. He was 54 years old. An autopsy later confirmed the cause of death was acute ketamine toxicity.

Plasencia, who ran an urgent care clinic in Malibu, was originally headed to trial in August. But instead, he took a plea deal. Prosecutors say he handed out ketamine vials, lozenges, and syringes to Perry and his assistant,...

Doctor Pleads Guilty in Matthew Perry Ketamine Case as Shocking New Details Emerge
Image
The doctor who gave Matthew Perry ketamine before his death has now pleaded guilty. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Dr. Salvador Plasencia admitted in a Los Angeles court that he illegally gave the drug to Perry in the weeks before the actor died in 2023. He’s the fourth person to be convicted in the ongoing investigation.

Plasencia confessed to giving Perry 20 vials of ketamine, syringes, and lozenges between September 30 and October 12 of that year. He wasn’t officially treating Perry when the actor died, but prosecutors say he knew the ketamine wasn’t being used for any real medical reason. His plea deal confirms that.

Plasencia will give up his medical license within about a month. His lawyer, Karen Goldstein, said in a statement, “Dr. Plasencia is profoundly remorseful for the treatment decisions he made… He is fully accepting responsibility.”

Matthew Perry’s Ketamine-Supplying Doctor Pleads Guilty To Drug Distribution, Faces 40 Years Over ‘Friends’ Star’s Death
Image
The reverberations of Matthew Perry’s overdose death continued Wednesday when one of the doctors who supplied the Friends star with ketamine entered a long-expected guilty plea to four counts of distribution.

Following up on a deal with the feds last month, Dr. Salvador Plasencia showed up in Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett’s downtown Los Angeles courtroom this morning to formally enter his plea. Saying little beyond direct responses to the judge’s questioning, the Santa Monica physician, who called Perry a “moron” when the actor was his client, is looking at a long stretch behind bars when he is sentenced later this year.

“He will face a statutory maximum sentence of 10 years in federal prison for each count at his sentencing hearing, which is scheduled for December 3,” said Ciaran McEvoy of the U.S. Attorney’s office for the Central District of California. “He remains free on bond and...

Matthew Perry’s Doctor Enters Guilty Plea to Ketamine Distribution
Image
Matthew Perry’s doctor, Salvador Plasencia, entered a guilty plea Wednesday to four counts of ketamine distribution, and will face sentencing on Dec. 3.

As part of the deal, Plasencia, 43, will surrender his medical license within the next 30-45 days, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said. He will remain free on bond pending his sentencing.

Plasencia took a plea deal in June in which he admitted to distributing ketamine without a legitimate medical purpose to the “Friends” star, who died of an overdose in October 2023. In exchange, prosecutors dropped charges of falsifying medical records and additional counts of distribution.

The lone remaining defendant in the case, Jasveen Sangha, nicknamed the “Ketamine Queen,” is scheduled to face a trial next month. She is alleged to have maintained a stash house in North Hollywood for the illicit distribution of the drug.

Plasencia was also set to go on trial at the same time, before...

Is Gen X Dying Before Our Eyes?
Image
As a kid, you didn’t need to have smoked marijuana or even know what it was (I plead ignorance on both counts — really, Mom!) to vibe with a flustered Theo Huxtable after his suddenly unsmiling parents found a joint in his textbook on a 1985 episode of The Cosby Show.

Such a tableau would confound today’s generation of young well-meaning miscreants, in part because they smelled pot smoke three times already just walking to the store and also, what’s a textbook?

But Theo meant everything to a whole generation of kids who saw in him the idea, as Questlove eloquently put it after Malcom-Jamal Warner’s death on Monday, of “what does it mean to be an adult without depending on your parents?”

Warner’s passing at 54 in a drowning accident hit hard. And not just his passing. For anyone considered a part of Gen X — roughly,...

Every Tgif Sitcom Ranked by ‘90s Nostalgia Experts
Image
It’s not too hard to push the nostalgia button for someone who grew up in the ‘90s. All you need to do is mention the Power Rangers or Pearl Jam, and their eyes will light up. The same goes for these four little letters: T-g-i-f. No matter how many mozzarella sticks they scarf down from the other TGIFs, for them, those letters in that order will immediately trigger the sound of Steve. Urkel’s distinct laugh or Michelle Tanner’s “You got it, dude!”

On September 22, 1989, ABC launched a Friday primetime block of shows aimed at revitalizing one of TV’s most difficult nights to program by consolidating two hours of family-oriented comedies. It was called Tgif to trade on the familiarity of the phrase “Thank God it’s Friday,” although officially it stood for “Thank goodness it’s funny” to avoid legal issues with the Tgi Fridays restaurant chain.

After Friends, Courteney Cox And Jennifer Aniston Butted Heads In A Canceled TV Show
Image
The "Friends" cast became stars at a very young age thanks to their sitcom becoming nothing short of a cultural phenomenon. But just because the ensemble was young at the time the show took off, that doesn't mean they didn't struggle to make their name. Before "Friends" Matthew Perry starred in a short-lived sitcom that's almost impossible to watch today (alongside multiple other sitcoms that never made it beyond a single season), while David Schwimmer similarly fronted an ill-fated sitcom that co-starred a "Happy Days" veteran. Matt LeBlanc, who played Joey Tribbiani, might have had the toughest time, having appeared in a horror war movie with an unbelievable premise in which he's on-screen for roughly three seconds.

In LeBlanc's case, his acting woes seemed to continue even after he was catapulted to mega-stardom by "Friends." The actor's blockbuster debut, "Lost in Space," turned out to be a major sci-fi flop...

This Courteney Cox Sitcom Secretly Reunited Friends Stars—You Might’ve Missed It!

Courteney Cox And Friends(Photo Credit –Instagram/Facebook)

Long before streaming made surprise reunions a weekly gimmick, Cougar Town (a wine-soaked comedy led by Friends alum Courteney Cox) quietly pulled off the real deal. Tucked into its six-season run between network switches and so-so ratings, the show sneakily brought back Cox’s former co-stars Lisa Kudrow, Jennifer Aniston, and Matthew Perry, all without fanfare headlines.

And while none of them returned as their Friends characters, the chemistry and inside jokes were loud enough for fans to catch on. Suddenly, Cougar Town became a soft spot for sitcom nerds.

Cougar Town Secretly Reunited Friends Cast Onscreen Again

When Cougar Town launched in 2009, no one expected a full-blown nostalgia bomb to quietly explode inside its Florida cul-de-sac. With Courteney Cox front and center as Jules Kiki Cobb, the show kicked off as a quirky rom-com before pivoting into a tight-knit hangout comedy.

The Friends Cast Had A Secret Tradition Before Filming Every Episode
Image
"Friends," aka one of the best sitcoms of all time, follows a group of buddies who hang out in New York City. Whether they're drinking coffee in Central Perk or watching nude exhibitionists walk around their apartments, it's a show about a group of pals who are connected at the hip, supporting each other through thick and thin, and having fun along the way.

What's more, that sense of camaraderie existed behind the scenes, as the sitcom's cast -- Courteney Cox, Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer, and the late Matthew Perry -- had a ritual to pump each other up before filming each episode. Cox recalled the experience during an appearance at the Inc. 5000 conference, as documented by People:

"We'd get in a huddle and we would say, 'Alright everybody! Good luck!' And we'd give each other a hug and a high five."

It's been over...

Did You Know Thanos Was Inspired By Greek Mythology? How Ancient Legends Gave Mad Titan The Moral Complexity Marvel’s Superheroes Lack
Image

Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame achieved unprecedented box office success, grossing a cumulative $4.9 billion, establishing the absolute zenith of the superhero genre. However, this cinematic triumph did not materialize without assimilating elements from disparate genres, including mythology.

The duology’s phenomenal success is inseparable from its antagonist, Thanos — a villain who ruled with cold calculus over moral conviction. Portrayed by Josh Brolin, the villain is loosely predicated on another mythological character from Greek mythological figure Thanatos, transcending beyond the Norse deities Thor and Loki, as per ScreenRant.

Have You Seen This Underrated British Miniseries? (Photo Credit – Netflix)

There’s one mini-series buried among the endless Netflix options that keeps popping up in recommendations from those who’ve already discovered it. It is not new and not what you would expect to find trending, but it has quietly built a reputation that few shows manage. Giri/Haji, with a perfect score of 100 from critics on Rotten Tomatoes and a wave of praise online, has become one of those shows people can’t stop pushing others to watch.

What Is Netflix’s Giri/Haji About?

First aired on the BBC back in 2019 before making its way to Netflix in 2020, the show blends Japanese and British storytelling in a way that makes it stand out immediately. Image
Netflix’s Norsemen Is The Viking Comedy Everyone’s Suddenly Talking About (Photo Credit – Netflix)

Netflix viewers have stumbled across a Viking comedy that has managed to hit all the right notes. It is called Norsemen, and it is one of those rare shows that quietly sits in the corner while others shout for attention – until someone presses play and wonders why they hadn’t heard about it sooner.

What is Netflix’s Norsemen About?

The series originally aired on Norway’s NRK1 before Netflix gave it a global stage. What makes it unusual is how it was shot, in both English and Norwegian at the same time, per Unilad. There are no awkward dubbing or subtitles necessary unless you want them and you can jump right in and understand every absurd moment right from the start.

The series, set in 790 Ad, centers around the village of Norheim. Life there...

David Fincher’s name has been floating around in connection with Squid Game, especially after season 3’s final scene dropped a sudden twist. The show closes with a quiet but jarring moment in Los Angeles, where Cate Blanchett appears as a new recruiter. She lures in yet another unlucky soul under the watch of the Front Man, suggesting the deadly games are not finished and they have simply moved west.

This Cute-Looking 2025 Anime Has A 9.3 IMDb Score—But It’s Way Darker Than You’d Think
Image
Takopi’s Original Sin (Photo Credit – Netflix)

Crunchyroll landed a heavy hitter this summer with Takopi’s Original Sin, and in only six episodes, the series has already managed to leave a serious mark. The premiere alone caught fire almost instantly, with its first episode scoring a 9.8 on IMDb and an overall score of 9.3, which is one of the highest ratings for any show this year. However, the reaction is not surprising as it is the kind of anime that grabs attention from the first frame and doesn’t let go.

Takopi’s Original Sin’s Episode One Sets The Tone With A Tragic Twist

The look of the show is striking. It is bright and almost childlike in style, but behind that colorful surface lies something a lot more intense. What starts out feeling like a familiar sci-fi setup, with a wide-eyed alien named Takopi arriving on Earth, slowly reveals something much heavier.

Rewatching Suits? This Overlooked Legal Drama Might Be Even Better — You’ll Want It On Your Watchlist
Image

Long before Suits redefined slick legal banter and sharp suits for the streaming generation, another courtroom drama had already perfected the art of mixing wit with serious courtroom chaos. It is none other than Boston Legal.

Premiering in 2004, this David E. Kelley creation wasn’t your typical law show. Instead, it gave us characters who were morally grey, emotionally chaotic, and unafraid to say the most outrageous things in court.

The Legal Show That Didn’t Follow The Rules And That’s Why It Worked

If Suits was the glossy, Manhattan-based legal drama with swagger and secret identities, Boston Legal was its eccentric, chaotic cousin who had no filter and wore his flaws like a badge. Spun off from The Practice, Boston Legal took a hard left turn from its more serious parent series and decided to blend legal realism with madcap humor, social commentary, and moments that were outright bonkers.

Friends: Matthew Perry Got His Sitcom Dream But Found No Joy — George Clooney Shares Heartbreaking Truth
Image
Matthew Perry & George Clooney ( Photo Credit – Instagram )

Matthew Perry may have played the funniest guy on TV, but something deeper was unraveling behind Chandler Bing’s sarcasm and sweater vests. Even longtime pal George Clooney, who knew Perry before Friends launched him into sitcom royalty, picked up on it. Perry got it all, yet none of it brought him the peace he had hoped for.

Clooney’s candid reflections after Perry’s death peeled back the glittery TV curtain to reveal a painful truth about chasing dreams in Hollywood. Perry wanted laughs, not legend but happiness. That was the one thing that kept slipping away.

Matthew Perry Got His Sitcom Dream, But Not The Peace He Hoped For

Matthew Perry was found deceased in his residence in October 2023. Postmortem reports cited acute ketamine toxicity as the leading cause. Drowning and coronary artery disease were contributing facets. However, according to George Clooney,...

Independence Day (1996) – What Happened to This Sci-Fi Action Movie?
Image
It seems very long ago, but there was a time when Roland Emmerich wasn’t a household name. The name is synonymous with the destruction of Earth now, and always will be, but go back a few decades and he was just another working director who made mid-budget movies that most people don’t feel very passionately about. Making Contact? Moon 44? Okay, we’ll give some love to 1992’s Universal Soldier only because it still sorta rocks, but I bet when you first saw it you didn’t think much about who made it. Same for the 1994 sci-fi flick Stargate, a title most of us still probably associate with the TV spinoffs than the actual movie. So during the beginning of 1996, when the movie of the summer looked to be an epic alien invasion spectacle called Independence Day, the legion of us who were excited were thinking, “This looks awesome…...

Friends Star Matthew Perry Rebooted A Beloved Movie As A Failed Sitcom
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

For someone who became one of the biggest stars in the world thanks to one of the biggest sitcoms of all time, Matthew Perry knew a lot about failed sitcoms. That's not a knock against the man whose comedy stylings are never given their proper due, having influenced an entire generation's sense of humor. It's simply an acknowledgement of how remarkably difficult it is to land a series that actually hits.

Prior to starring in "Friends," Perry starred in "Home Free," a sitcom that's almost impossible to watch today, in which he played a bachelor who lived at home with his mom, only for his divorced sister and her two children to move home and upend his carefree life. It only lasted one season. But Perry was used to sitcoms that didn't go beyond their first season. He also appeared...

Friends: Chandler’s Unscripted Lamp Smash In Friends Was A Total Accident—& It Somehow Made the Scene Iconic
Image
The Time Ross Handed Chandler a Lamp in Friends—And Why It Was Totally Unscripted ( Photo Credit – Instagram )

One of Friends’ most hilariously chaotic moments was never part of the script. During the season five episode The One Where Phoebe Hates PBS, Ross had a full-blown meltdown after getting a call from Emily. In his frenzy, he picked up a lamp and randomly handed it to Chandler. The problem was, David Schwimmer made that move up on the spot. Matthew Perry had absolutely no idea what was happening.

The reaction that followed became pure gold. Chandler looked confused, held onto the lamp without question, and never broke character. That moment was not just funny because of the writing. It worked because Perry leaned straight into the chaos, making the confusion look effortlessly natural. The lamp scene didn’t just survive the improv, it became iconic because of it.

How Ross...

Before Friends, Matt LeBlanc Starred In A Horror War Movie With An Unbelievable Premise
Image
It might seem as though the cast of "Friends" got lucky landing their roles in that beloved '90s sitcom. And while luck is a big part of it, it's not as if the actors simply moved to Hollywood, got cast in the show, and became mega-stars. Every member of the ensemble spent years grinding it out in failed TV projects and small movies before they landed the roles that would change their lives.

Before "Friends," David Schwimmer starred in a short-lived sitcom with a "Happy Days" veteran, while Matthew Perry became the king of sitcoms that lasted just one season. Courteney Cox starred in a goofy fantasy flop and Matt LeBlanc starred in two failed spin-offs of a beloved sitcom before he landed the role of Joey Tribbiani on "Friends." But LeBlanc also had a couple of big-screen duds.

In 1994, the same year that "Friends" debuted, LeBlanc co-starred in "Lookin' Italian,...

The Batman Director Made His Debut With A Forgotten Rom-Com Featuring A Friends Star
Image
In 2022, Matt Reeves introduced us to "The Batman," another take on the titular hero that saw Robert Pattinson in the lead role. Battinson operated within a noirish, "Seven"-adjacent industrial decay-ridden Gotham, representing a much younger version of the character in a movie that successfully reinvented the Dark Knight for modern movie goers following Christopher Nolan's seminal Dark Knight trilogy. Reeves was given significant creative freedom to bring his vision to life, something he'll apparently retain with the long delayed "The Batman: Part 2," if it ever sees the light of day.

"The Batman" was big for Reeves. He'd broken through with 2008's "Cloverfield," capturing the spirit of a bygone world in chaos, before proving he was more than capable of handling the sci-fi action genre with 2014's "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" and 2017's "War for the Planet of the Apes." But "The Batman" seemed to firmly...

Image
Which Friends Co-Star Had A Huge Crush On Jennifer Aniston? (Photo Credit – Instagram)

Popular American sitcom, Friends, gave all the six actors – Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer, Lisa Kudrow, and Matt LeBlanc – massive recognition across the globe. While their friendship has been quite tight over the years, even after the show concluded, there were a lot of romance rumors surfacing everywhere between the actors. One of the most iconic dating rumors has been between Aniston and Schwimmer, who played the onscreen couple Rachel and Ross in the show.

While that rumor was baseless, there was this one actor who had a major crush on Jennifer and had even asked her out, only to get rejected by her. Can you guess who that was? Well, it was the late actor Matthew Perry, who played Chandler Bing, in the show. Yes, that’s right. Scroll ahead to read more about it.

This Tbbt Scene Convinced Me Leonard-Penny Will Always Be Second to Chandler-Monica From Friends
Image
Who doesn’t love a good sitcom romance? They’re lovely, of course, and come with a blend of laughter and heartfelt moments. Over the years, we have come to know several such couples through our TV screens, whether it’s Leonard-Penny from The Big Bang Theory or the beloved Monica-Chandler from Friends.

I’m usually excited for all of them. But certain moments stick out in the worst way. And one such moment triggered the realisation that Monica and Chandler might just be the best sitcom couple of them all.

The scene in conversation is from Tbbt Season 7 episode The Deception Verification, where Leonard returns from his North Sea expedition to surprise Penny. Though it was one of the sweetest moments in their relationship, it’s the whole picture that proves that Chandler and Monica will always be the ‘it’ sitcom couple.

The Leonard-Penny Sweet Moment Now Feels so...

Spider-Man Star Jack Betts’ Forgotten Friends Role Almost Gave Us Phoebe’s Sugar Daddy Arc

Although Betts has done a ton of Hollywood movies and shows, this generation remembers Betts for his portrayal of Henry Balkan in the 2002 Sam Raimi film Spider-Man. Well, viewers will be surprised to know that Betts was also a part of Friends back in 2001 in an almost-forgotten role, which would have given us Phoebe’s sugar daddy arc!

This Day That Year: 23 Years Of Awara Paagal Deewana
Image
In another fabulous installment of This Day That Year, Subhash K Jha looks back at 2002’s Awara Paagal Deewana, the Vikram Bhatt directed comedy, which starred Akshay Kumar, Sunil Shetty, Aftab Shivdasani, Paresh Rawal, Johnny Lever, Preeti Jhangiani, Aarti Chhabria, Amrita Arora, and Rahul Dev.

What can we expect from a film that that has a triple indication of mental discrepancy in its title? A madcap, zany, kooky laughathon? We got it! Vikram Bhatt who successfully delivered a shiver-giver earlier the same year in Raaz, comes up with a clever and largely enjoyable adaptation of Jonathan Lyne’s The Whole Nine Yards.

The original wasn’t anything to write home about. But this Indianized adaptation with enough eccentric twists and turns to boggle the most accomplished contortionist’s wildest imagination, scores several points for its dead-on writing, above-average production values, unique action sequences and masterful performances.

Producer Firoz Nadiadwala who...

Friends: The Hit Sitcom Had A Totally Different Name – You’ll Never Guess The Original Title!
Image
Friends: The Hit Sitcom Had A Totally Different Name ( Photo Credit – Facebook )

Before Joey ever asked how you doin’, or Monica stressed over another Thanksgiving dinner, Friends that became a cultural monolith nearly launched under a completely different title. One that would’ve made the theme song feel way less catchy.

Back in the early ’90s, creators Marta Kauffman and David Crane were still shaping what would become Friends. The chemistry was there, the coffee shop was there, but the name was still brewing. In fact, they cycled through multiple options, trying to pin down the tone. At one point, the show was pitched under a name that hardly sounds sitcom-worthy today.

What Was The Original Title Of Friends?

Now for the twist, during the filming of the pilot, Friends wasn’t even called Friends. It was officially titled Six of One. That name stayed through early development until...

5 Times the New York Real Estate Market Drove TV Comedy Characters to Extremes
Image
Warning: Contains spoilers for the plot of the latest episode of Poker Face, “A New Lease on Death.”

Whether or not you’ve ever lived in New York City, you probably know one thing about it: The rent, famously, is too damn high. This means the competition for decent housing options can be fierce; motivated tenants should be ready to do whatever it takes. In real life, that might mean going to a desirable neighborhood to walk the streets hoping to spot a “For Rent” sign, checking obituaries for imminent vacancies or bribing a landlord for special consideration. On TV, things can get even wilder.

5 NewsRadio

Dave (Dave Foley), on the verge of losing his current place, tours a vacant apartment and loves practically everything about it. But he’s not the only one who wants it: the very next would-be tenant is Lisa (Maura Tierney). Things get contentious immediately,...

Before Friends, David Schwimmer Co-Led A Short-Lived Show With A Happy Days Veteran
Image
When the "Friends" cast landed their roles on that beloved NBC sitcom, they instantly secured their futures as some of the biggest, most well-paid stars in the world. By the end of the series in 2004, each member of the ensemble was making $1 million an episode. That means that for seasons 9 and 10 they made $42 million, and to this day, the "Friends" cast still makes quite a bit from reruns. Of course, they sacrificed much of their personal privacy in the process, and David Schwimmer has been one of the most outspoken about the negative side of mega-stardom.

In a Guardian interview, the actor recalled how prior to the show's debut, director and sitcom legend James Burrows took the cast to Las Vegas and tried to warn them of the coming onslaught. "We were walking through the casino at one point," Schwimmer recalled, "and [Burrows] said to us, 'Remember this moment, it's...

Dr. Salvador Plasencia, Who Supplied Ketamine To Matthew Perry Before Overdose Death, To Plead Guilty, Faces 40 Years In Prison
Image
On Monday, Dr. Salvador Plasencia agreed to plead guilty to illegally supplying the late Friends star Matthew Perry with Ketamine, which led to his accidental fatal overdose.

The agreement will see Plasencia plead guilty to four counts of distributing ketamine in the next few weeks. He faces a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison, three years of supervised release and a fine of at least $2 million.

Perry, 54, had been undergoing ketamine infusion therapy to treat anxiety and depression before his death on October 28, 2023. However, federal prosecutors said that he had solicited and obtained unsupervised doses, which led to him developing an uncontrollable dependence on ketamine. Perry had a long and very public history of substance addiction.

Prosecutors reported that Perry had paid $55,000 per day for six to eight shots of ketamine in about a month, doses supplied to him by Plasencia and others, including Dr. Mark Chavez. Text messages between...
