Locarno, Switzerland — Visit Films, the prestigious New York-based sales agent, has come on board of “Keep Quiet,”directed by Vincent Grashaw (“Bang Bang”) and starring Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Lou Diamond Phillips (“La Bamba”).

Visit Films will launch sales around the Aug. 14 world premiere of “Keep Quiet” at the Locarno Film Festival where it weighs in as one of the Festival’s weightier commercial propositions.

Penned by Zach Montague, “Keep Quiet” follows a weathered tribal cop and his new trainee as they must find a ruthless fugitive, whose return to his rural Indigenous reservation has exposed its darkest secrets and could ignite a violent gang war.

Howell Taylor takes over the top elected role at the US Academy from Janet Yang, who served three one-year terms as president.

UK-born, Los Angeles-based Howell Taylor will be starting her first term as president during her second term as an Academy governor, representing the body’s producers branch. She previously served as vice president and chair of the Academy’s awards committee for three years.

Producer Lynette Howell Taylor has been named the new president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences by the organization’s Board of Governors.

She replaces Janet Yang, who has served as the Academy’s president since 2021. Howell Taylor becomes the fifth woman behind Yang (2021-2025), Fay Kanin (1979-1983), Cheryl Boone Isaacs (2013-2017) and Bette Davis (Davis resigned after two months in 1941) to hold the position.

Howell Taylor is beginning her first term as president during her second term as a governor representing the Producers Branch. Producer Lynette Howell Taylor has been elected president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Academy announced on Thursday.

Howell Taylor was elected by the AMPAS Board of Governors to replace Janet Yang. Academy presidents are permitted to serve four consecutive one-year terms, but the president must be member of the board, and term limits restrict governors to two consecutive three-year terms. Yang has served three years as president but must leave the board this summer because of those term limits.

As incoming president, Howell Taylor will face the same term limits. She began her second consecutive term in 2023 and will have to leave the board next summer, after only one year as president. Of the last seven Academy presidents, only one was able to serve the full four terms.

As The Hollywood Reporter recently forecasted, Lynette Howell Taylor, an Oscar-nominated film producer, was elected the 37th president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences through a vote of the organization’s board of governors on Thursday. She succeeds Janet Yang, a fellow producer who held the job for the past three years, but was forced by term limits to step away from the board for at least the next two.

Howell Taylor, 46, who was born in Liverpool, England, is the youngest person in 70 years (since George Seaton took office at 44) and the first person born outside of the U.S. in 28 years (since Canadian Arthur Hiller) to serve as Academy president.

With his friends in the Coatwolf filmmaking collective, he produced the ultra-low-budget “Bellflower.” It was a breakout hit in Sundance’s Next section and Oscilloscope Laboratories snapped up the gritty, handmade portrait of toxic love and self-destruction less than a week after its premiere.

“That was when [Oscilloscope co-founder] Adam Yauch was still alive and [A24 co-founder] David Fenkel was still there,” Grashaw said. “The year we were at Sundance, I want to say 30 films sold. It was crazy.”

Being a festival breakout kicked off his career, providing access to a network of agents, managers, and general meetings.

When Christian Slater made his purported "comeback" on Mr. Robot in 2015, winning a Golden Globe for the eponymous role, he didn’t think he had gone anywhere. He had been steadily working onscreen for 30 years, since his film debut in 1985’s The Legend of Billie Jean.

Sure, most of the films and television series he made over the first decade-plus of the 2000s weren’t smash hits out of the gate, but neither were many of what would ultimately be his most memorable projects. Heathers, Pump Up the Volume, True Romance, Very Bad Things — all box-office failures-turned-cult classics.

I was only about 7 years old when I first watched writer/director Robert Resnikoff’s 1990 supernatural horror thriller The First Power – and as you might imagine, the things that movie had to show me shook my world and creeped the hell out of me. Emilio Estevez has been sharing details on Young Guns 3, the unexpected new sequel to the classic ‘80s/’90s movies starring Estevez, Christian Slater, Lou Diamond Phillips. 35 years after the last movie in the franchise, Estevez is getting the western gang back together for a new story that will add to the legacy of the characters introduced in 1988.

While appearing on theHappy Sad Confused podcast with Josh Horowitz, Estevez detailed that he has been preparing a possible cast list for the sequel, which includes the aforementioned Phillips and Slater reprising their roles, and Estevez back as Billy the Kid as well as directing the film. Emilio Estevez confirmed the news himself at Film and Media Day at the New Mexico State Capitol. “We’ve started the ball rolling on Young Guns 3,” with him adding, ”I’ve heard all the jokes: Old Guns, Ancient Guns. You can hold on to those.” In an official press release from the office of New Mexico governor Michelle Lujan Grisham, the film’s title was listed as Young Guns 3: Dead or Alive, with it further revealed Estevez would be directing the film himself (on location in New Mexico), having also co-written the script with franchise regular John Fusco.

Young Guns, the beloved Western series that began in 1988, is finally back after 35 years, as star Emilio Estevez officially announced yesterday that Young Guns 3: Dead or Alive will film in New Mexico. The best part? Estevez will not only be returning as Billy the Kid in front of the camera, but he'll also be directing the latest installment, which will also feature original cast member Lou Diamond Phillips, and Christian Slater, who appeared in Young Guns 2 in 1990.

In the 2010s, the success of Arrow resulted in a Flash spinoff series and eventually the entire Arrowverse. Despite being its spiritual successor, Smallvillenever went down this path. Two years have gone by since we heard that director Steven C. Miller (Silent Night) was heading into production on a werewolf horror film that, at the time, was going by the title Year 2. Last month, the film was given a wide theatrical release in the United States under the title Werewolves – and over the holidays, it was also given a VOD release. Now, we have learned that Werewolves will be reaching Blu-ray on February 4th, and copies are available for pre-order at This Link!

The Blu-ray release will have deleted scenes and trailers as special features.
