The original movie, which debuted in the UK in 2002 and in the US in 2003, followed Nagra's Jess and Knightley's Jules as they played for a small amateur women's team in London and pursued their dream of a soccer career in the States.

Now, 23 years later, director and writer Gurinder Chadha has confirmed to Deadline that she's working on a sequel. The BAFTA-nominated filmmaker has teamed up with the current head coach of the US women's national soccer team and her husband and co-writer, Paul Mayeda Berges, to develop the concept and script.

Chadha told Deadline that she'd finally come up with an idea for the sequel "last month," 23 years after the movie's original premiere.

The Southampton Playhouse is celebrating 30 years of legendary indie production banner Killer Films, as IndieWire can announce. The period piece romantic drama genre was completely revitalized by the Netflix original series "Bridgerton." Adapting Julia Quinn's novel series of the same name, "Bridgerton" mixes high society sophistication with steamy romance featuring its growing ensemble of memorable characters. And as fans watch Netflix's expansive universe of "Bridgerton" shows, there are plenty of similar historical dramas to help them tide over the wait. These range from shows accurately exploring British history to series taking advantage of the archetypal backdrop from more stylized stories, like "Bridgerton" itself.

Each of these shows is thematically similar to "Bridgerton," beyond the trappings of historical British aristocracy in their own way. In 2023, the action thriller Mercy was pummeled by critics, getting slapped with a rare and unwanted Rotten Tomatoes score of 0%. However, the film is getting another chance with Netflix subscribers two years after its release.

Per FlixPatrol, Mercy is currently ranked at No. 7 on Netflix's Top 10 chart for feature films, globally. The film was not a big success upon its release in theaters on May 12, 2023. Its reception was especially harsh, given the 0% score on Rotten Tomatoes, and its audience score is only good by direct comparison, as it's also rather low at 17%. The movie was acknowledged at the 44th Golden Raspberry Awards (aka the Razzies), when Jon Voight "won" the award for Worst Actor.

If you were part of the clean-up crew taking care of a murder scene, and you found a suitcase full of cash, what would you do? If you have an Iq that’s at least in the double digits or have seen more than a couple of action films, you probably know taking it won’t end well.

But that doesn’t stop Siobhan, the owner of Good Life Cleaners and her crew, Alex, his girlfriend Megan and Chuck from doing just that when they find a few million in cash stashed in the chimney of the house they’re cleaning up.

Over-the-top acting, strange edits, and a thin plot make The Clean Up Crew a ludicrous comedy wannabe. The usually wonderful Antonio Banderas channels Machiavelli in a cringeworthy performance as crime boss. The good cast seems to have fun, and there are a couple chuckles, but a weak script, confusing editing, and unoriginal action scenes make the film a forgettable mess.

Antonio Banderas spouts Machiavelli while his criminal empire crumbles in this scatterbrained action-comedy that never finds its footing. The Clean Up Crew tries your patience with a strained narrative of bumbling thieves, crooked cops, and a quartet of crime scene cleaners embroiled in a ludicrous robbery scheme. The film has a Guy Ritchie feel with chatty, goofball characters gunning for each other in a bloody barrage of split-screen edits and campy accompanying music. Swen Temmel spoke with MovieWeb's Julian Roman about his new film with Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Antonio Banderas, and Melissa Leo, The Clean Up Crew, and the crime comedy is now available to rent or buy. Temmel also touched on his upcoming sequels to the action movies Cash Out and Den of Thieves, and the time he spent with Bruce Willis on three of the actor's final films.

When a crime scene clean up crew discovers a briefcase full of money, they must out smart a criminal kingpin (Antonio Banderas) and corrupt FBI agents who want it back. The Clean Up Crew is out now from Saban Films and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.

Directed by Jon Keeyes, The Clean Up Crew, starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Antonio Banderas, is a fun action thriller that follows a clean-up crew that stumbles upon a suitcase full of cash. The local mafia boss, Gabriel, and police officer James had struck a deal three years ago. James was willing to overlook Gabriel’s actions as long as he received adequate compensation. The partnership worked out quite well, and Gabriel’s influence grew. But recently Gabriel hadn’t been making the payments on time, and Officer James was ready to expose his operations. The mafia boss promised to pay, and while he did stick to his end of the bargain, the transaction did not go according to plan. Gabriel’s men wanted to keep the suitcase full of cash to themselves, and their decision ultimately backfired.

In the mood for a silly gross comedy? The Clean Up Crew might suit your fancy, since it’s got a cast of oddballs, some campy overacting, all building to a hefty body count. Gear yourself for something between The Gang That Couldn’T Shoot Straight and Hot Fuzz, with a dash of Johnny Dangerously. If not for quality, then for tenor.

For starters, Antonio Banderas plays a gang boss who is just plain nuts. He struts and frets his hour upon the stage, overreacting to everything and spouting excerpts from Machiavelli like a professor on crack. He looks and acts like the polar opposite of the suave romantic figure he usually portrays, whether in comedies or dramas. A couple of corrupt Feds are on his payroll covering up his substantial illegal enterprise in exchange for a big monthly cut of the profits. In cash, of course.

Japan-born actor Yuki Kedoin has signed with Artist International Group and will be repped by Ian Stack and Kimberly Hines.

Kedoin most recently can be seen playing the role of Takemaru in all ten episodes of the FX/Hulu series “Shogun” (2024). The series received 25 nominations for the 2024 Emmy Awards.
