The Los Angeles staple Cinespia — the Amazon MGM Studios and Prime Video-sponsored event that transforms the iconic Hollywood Forever Cemetery into the city’s hottest movie theater each summer weekend — has announced their next slate of classics, bringing the series all the way to the end of the season.
“Labor Day weekend is one of our favorite times of year, and there’s no better way to celebrate than with great films and a great crowd,” Cinespia founder John Wyatt said. “There’s something electric about closing out the summer with these timeless films, especially when you’re watching them with thousands of people under an open sky.”
Labor Day weekend will offer two decidedly different film favorites for audiences. First up on August 30 is “The Princess Bride,” Rob Reiner’s hilarious fairytale that takes Cary Elwes’ Westley and Robin Wright’s Buttercup on a rollicking adventure that also includes Mandy Patinkin,...

“In Olivia’s Mexican hometown, femicide and gender-based violence are increasing at an alarming rate,” notes a description of León’s film in the program guide for Hot Docs, where the film also played. “Upon her return after a long absence, she quickly notices the city walls are covered with posters of missing women. The mistreatment of women is pervasive, and the once-vibrant city is gradually losing its vitality.”

Nobody fit the role better than André the Giant as Fezzik in The Princess Bride. Known for being one of the premiere superstars in professional wrestling, André was recruited to play the oversized sidekick to Wallace Shawn’s Vizzini in what seems like a no-brainer choice. After all, at 7’4”, André was basically a real-life giant. But a certain Hollywood star was also vying for the role: Liam Neeson. It’s just too bad he’s so short…
When it came time to casting Fezzik in The Princess Bride, Rob Reiner and his casting director, Jane Jenkins, were tasked with finding someone who could actually come across as a giant. So when Liam Neeson entered the room, he – who stands well over six feet, a desirable height by many measures – just wasn’t tall enough. As Neeson recently recalled, “It’s very true. Dramatic moments make this show stand out, but the series makes room for plenty of fun guest stars, just like "The Big Bang Theory" does.
These guest stars offer comedic relief, and they shape the lives of the main characters in a way that leads them toward their storylines on "The Big Bang Theory." But which "Young Sheldon" guest stars stand out as the best across the show's seven-season run? Our rankings include a mix of cameos and lengthy guest appearances, and are based on how each character impacts the overall universe. If you're a fan of "Young Sheldon," you probably remember Dr. Carol Lee, a physics expert and former member of Ibm's Watson Research Center, played by Ming-Na Wen. The character only shows up in one episode — season 5's "A Free Scratcher and Feminine Wiles" — but she makes a pretty significant impact on the titular young Sheldon Cooper, played by Iain Armitage. What you might not know is that Wen was also a major part of "Stargate Universe," where she played Camile Wray.
I'll back up for one second, though — what's Carol Lee's deal on "Young Sheldon?" Well, in "A Free Scratcher and Feminine Wiles," Dr. Lee joins the Experimental Cosmology Center at East Texas Tech, where she meets Sheldon, Dr. Grant Linkletter (Ed Begley Jr.), and Dr. John Burgess Whitney Sturgis (Wallace Shawn) after being appointed by the university's president Linda Hagermeyer (Wendie Malick). "The Big Bang Theory" spin-off series "Young Sheldon," as the title suggested, explored the life of Sheldon Cooper in his youth. Set years before "The Big Bang Theory," "Young Sheldon" introduced an array of characters from Sheldon's life who were either only mentioned or much older in the original series. This meant a whole new cast was brought on board to bring Sheldon's family and formative years to life. What some fans of "Young Sheldon" may not have realized, however, is that the cast included several actors from Disney's "Toy Story" movies.
"Young Sheldon" features Annie Potts as Sheldon's "Meemaw" Connie Tucker. Wallace Shawn appears on the "Big Bang Theory" spin-off as Dr. John Sturgis, a university professor, Sheldon's penpal and an eventual love interest of Meemaw. Both of these actors had major roles in 1995's "Toy Story" and its subsequent sequels. Potts voiced Bo Peep, the love interest of Tom Hanks' Woody,...

Did Young Sheldon’s Cooper Family Have An Actually Functional Phone Number? ( Photo Credit – Facebook )
Yep, Young Sheldon once handed fans a real working phone number. And for a while, it actually worked. Viewers who caught the Season 2 episode “A Rival Prodigy & Sir Isaac Neutron” were treated to more than just a storyline about intellectual rivalry; they got a slice of interactivity straight from the Cooper family kitchen.
It all started when Mary Cooper, played by Zoe Perry, got a call from Dr. Sturgis (Wallace Shawn). He wanted to introduce her to another set of parents raising a gifted kid. That’s when he rattled off Paige’s mom’s phone number. But classic sitcom mishap – he gave Mary her own number by mistake. While the mix-up got fixed onscreen, sharp-eyed fans noticed something else. The number, (409) 356-6049, was real.

With four (soon to be five) films in Pixar's beloved "Toy Story" franchise, generations of audiences have been introduced to some of the most lovable characters in animated history. In particular, the core group of Andy's toys remains a staple in the entire catalog of not just Pixar Animation Studios but also Disney as a whole. Obviously, there is the inseparable (at least until "Toy Story 4") duo of Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), but how can we forget their friends Mr. Potato Head (Don Rickles), Slinky Dog (Jim Varney/Blake Clark), Rex (Wallace Shawn), Hamm (John Ratzenberger), and Bo Peep (Annie Potts)? The original gang of Andy's toys was first introduced to us in 1995, but once "Toy Story 2" hit theaters in 1999, we were introduced to a few new core members of the series, including Mrs. Potato Head (Estelle Harris), Jessie (Joan Cusack), and Bullseye.

Getting a perfect 100% Rt score is not a small feat. Like, honestly, critics can be brutal, picky, or even allergic to fun sometimes. But when a movie manages to win all of them over, and we mean all of them, it’s already walking on rare air. Now, imagine mixing that fabulous critic score with a fat box office total, you’ve got a straight-up anomaly.
Sure, oftentimes movies either impress the masses or the critics, not both. But few movies managed to pull off this double act like it’s no big deal. Such movies are those that made zero enemies and all the money. They didn’t just crush reviews, they filled the theatre seats, broke records, and had people talking long after the credits rolled.

We've certainly got a friend in Tom Hanks. It’s been more than two years since it was revealed that the beloved Pixar franchise, Toy Story, would be moving forward with a fifth installment and now, things are finally kicking into gear. Teasing what he was up to, Hanks wrote,

Get a clue! Peacock is developing a sequel series based on the ’90s favorite “Clueless,” and Alicia Silverstone is attached to star in the series reprising her role as Cher Horowitz, IndieWire has learned.
The Peacock show is described only as a follow-up sequel show to the 1995 cult favorite film from director and writer Amy Heckerling (who will EP the series), and while there have been some rumors about the exact focus of the show floating around, creative details are being kept under wraps for now. The series is currently in development for the streamer.
Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage of “Gossip Girl” and “Nancy Drew” fame will write the series alongside “Freakier Friday” scribe Jordan Weiss, and all three will executive produce the series. Schwartz and Savage are producing through their banner Fake Empire.
Silverstone is also executive producing the series, as is Heckerling and the film’s original producer Robert Lawrence.

Cate Blanchett, a two-time Oscar winner, has told the British press she is retiring from acting in the near future.
The actor-producer said in an interview with Radio Times this week that she wasn’t sure calling herself an “actress” was quite accurate: “It’s because I’m giving up… My family roll their eyes every time I say it, but I mean it. I am serious about giving up acting. [There are] a lot of things I want to do with my life.”
The Australian star spoke ahead of BBC’s Radio 4 airing an adaptation of Wallace Shawn’s The Fever, Blanchett’s first radio play. It follows a woman from a privileged background who visits an impoverished foreign country and suddenly becomes ill. She becomes emotionally unsettled and contemplates the little impact she’s had on the world.
Only recently, Blanchett’s acting credits include Alfonso Cuarón’s Apple TV...

With two Oscars in tow over the course of her 30-year-plus career — where she has played everyone from Queen Elizabeth I to fantasy heroes to an embattled maestro — Cate Blanchett said she is “serious” about stepping away from her craft one day.
The reveal came during a new interview with the U.K.’s Radio Times magazine, where the venerated actress is promoting her forthcoming and first-ever audioplay, BBC Radio 4’s The Fever, premiering this weekend. The adaptation of Wallace Shawn’s drama features a 90-minute monologue from an unnamed woman who travels to a civil war-torn country and becomes ill, realizing that her material comforts and privileges are bankrolled by oppression spurred by global capitalism.
While introducing herself for the tape, she hesitated to announce her title as actress, which co-director John Tiffany pointed out. She replied, “I did, didn’t I? It’s because I’m giving up.

Television writer and producer Chuck Lorre has helped create quite a few successful sitcoms, with "The Big Bang Theory" and "Two and a Half Men" (both of which aired on the CBS network) arguably being his most popular ones. But as often as "The Big Bang Theory" crossed over with its prequel show, "Young Sheldon," actors from the former didn't pop up as much on "Two and a Half Men" (and vice versa), perhaps in large part due to the series' somewhat different tones. Be that as it may, there was one "Two and a Half Men" veteran who made an appearance on "Young Sheldon," and she was a perfect fit for the bittersweet coming-of-age family comedy.
That would be a reference to Melanie Lynskey, who absolutely f****** rules. The "Yellowjackets" and "The Last of Us" veteran starred on "Two and a Half Men" as Rose, a terrifying and manipulative...

Broadway and film producer Scott Rudin, whose aggressive and bullying behavior to some of his staff led to public condemnation and his withdrawal from producing four years ago, is making a comeback, which Rudin announces today in an interview with The New York Times.
In the article, Rudin says he has more than a dozen shows in development, including both musicals and plays. At least three of the latter, according to the Times, will star Laurie Metcalf and be directed by Joe Mantello. (Neither of them responded to Times’ requests for comment.)
This fall, he will produce Little Bear Ridge Road, a play by Samuel D. Hunter staged last year by Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theater Company. The New York production, like the one in Chicago, will star Metcalf and will be directed by Mantello. In the spring Rudin will produce Montauk, a new play by David Hare, also starring Metcalf and directed by Mantello.

In Rob Reiner's beloved 1987 romantic fantasy film "The Princess Bride," the good-hearted kidnapper Inigo Monotya (Mandy Patinkin) is ordered by his boss Vizzini (Wallace Shawn) to dispatch a mysterious Man in Black (Cary Elwes) who has been following them up the Cliffs of Insanity. Inigo is a masterful swordsman, and rarely gets to ply his skills, so he immediately becomes itchy, eager for the oncoming fight. Because he is so polite, Inigo allows the Man in Black to sit and rest for a few moments before attacking, and the two have an amusingly casual conversation about Inigo's motivations and how he got his sword. "You seem a decent fellow," Inigo says, "I hate to kill you."
"You seem a decent fellow," the Man in Black replies, "I hate to die."
They then begin. The fight choreography is astounding. Inigo was not just blowing smoke.

Princess Bride and Clueless actor Wallace Shawn this week compared the Israeli treatment of Gaza to Nazi Germany.
Shawn, who is Jewish, said on the Katie Halper Show that Israel is “doing evil that is just as great as what the Nazis did.” His comments have sparked outrage from the Jewish community, but not surprise as he has been vocal in sharing his divisive views before.
Regarding the Nazi comparison, Shawn contended: “In some ways it’s worse, because they kind of boast about it. Hitler had the decency to try to keep it secret. For some reason, Hitler didn’t want people to know he was doing these things to the Jews. The Israelis are almost proud of it, and it’s demonically evil. And anybody who doesn’t recognize that it’s evil, I can’t, probably, communicate with that person. That might be temporary insanity.”

"The Big Bang Theory" lasted for 12 successful seasons, and during that time, the sitcom brought in several characters from Sheldon Cooper's (Jim Parsons) life. His mom, brother, and sister all show up for on-screen roles, and his deceased father gets a mention. That said, not everyone who impacted Sheldon gets acknowledged in the nerdy sitcom. Paige Swanson (McKenna Grace) from "Young Sheldon" doesn't appear on "Big Bang Theory," even though she was a notable part of his coming-of-age years, while Dr. John Sturgis (Wallace Shawn) is also ignored in spite of having dated Sheldon's Meemaw (Annie Potts) and mentored him.
Case in point: Sheldon's Nobel Prize speech in the "Big Bang Theory" finale made the cast cry, proving that it's an emotional moment. The scene sees the socially awkward physicist thank most of the important people in his life for supporting him throughout the years, marking a rare expression of gratitude from the character.

Toy Story has long been regarded as one of the best animated films ever made, with its original release worldwide box office gross exceeding the film's production budget by 800% (via Box Office Mojo). The Toy Story franchise benefited from Pixar's focus on sequels in the coming years, with three additional and equally successful Toy Story films being made between 1999 and 2019, and a Toy Story 5 release on the way in 2026. This animated franchise features the voices of Tom Hanks as Woody, the pull-string toy cowboy, and Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear, the superhero space ranger action figure.
The popularity of the Toy Story franchise stems from many different factors, including its all-star cast, its status as the first-ever computer animated feature film, and its brilliant use of slapstick, wordplay, and situational humor. Yet the clever Toy Story Easter eggs, however, are perhaps the franchise's most successful running gag, with...

The Toy Story saga isn't over yet as Toy Story 5 is on its way, and while much is unknown about the upcoming movie's story, a tease from one of its actors suggests Buzz is stepping into the spotlight. Pixar's multi-billion-dollar franchise kicked off in 1995 with the premiere of Toy Story, the animation studio's first feature film. Since then, Pixar has released five movies in the franchise, including three sequels and one spin-off. Since Toy Story is so popular (and brings in a lot of revenue), the studio is developing a fourth sequel featuring the return of Woody and Buzz Lightyear.
Toy Story 5, starring Tom Hanks as Woody and Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear, is scheduled to be released in theaters on June 19, 2026.
Pixar announced Toy Story 5 was in production in early 2023, with Andrew Stanton directing and writing the next sequel. Tom Hanks and Tim Allen are...

Stephen King is a horror genre staple, and he often recommends TV shows or movies that he enjoys. He's best known for iconic horror novels such as The Shining and It, and has remained in the public spotlight for his books and adaptations of his work. Stephen King even has another book on the way, continuing a legacy that has scared readers for decades.
Because of his reputation in the horror genre, many trust his recommendations for different works, whether they be novels, TV shows, or even films. The genres of his recommendations often vary, but horror still seems to be the most consistent. Though many of King's books could still use sequels, his recommended shows such as Cabinet of Curiosities and Midnight Mass will have to do in the meantime.

One of the best things about "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" was that its space station setting meant there were more opportunities for alien characters to take on major roles. Some of the most beloved and interesting characters on the series are non-human, like Cardassian tailor/spy Garak (Andrew Robinson) and Ferengi bar owner Quark (Armin Shimerman). In fact, there are a couple of fun Ferengi folks that live on Deep Space Nine, and over the course of the series they gained some depth and the Ferengi became more than just money-obsessed villains with huge ears.
Just as Michael Dorn, who played Klingon warrior Worf, helped shape Klingon culture, Shimerman was able to influence Ferengi culture. He had originally played an evil Ferengi named Letek on "Star Trek: The Next Generation," and he hoped that by playing Quark, he could evolve the Ferengi into a more complex, complete people and wipe out past portrayals.

Since its spectacular debut in 2007, the fan-favorite sitcom The Big Bang Theory continues to attract and entertain audiences all around the globe, with the juggernaut hit going on to become one of the most popular TV shows of all time and launching a lucrative and enduring franchise. Tbbt ran for 12 dazzling seasons and was the recipient of numerous accolades, like 10 Primetime Emmys, with its massive success leading to the development of two knockout spin-offs: Young Sheldon and Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage.
The coming-of-age series Young Sheldon serves as a prequel to Tbbt and chronicles the genius Sheldon Cooper's upbringing in the small Texas town of Medford during the late '80s and '90s. Zoe Perry memorably starred as Sheldon's devoted mother Mary for seven seasons, taking over the role from film and TV great Laurie Metcalf, who sporadically appeared as the character throughout the course of Tbbt.

A new season of the supernatural drama series Evil is finally being added to Netflix later this month. CBS/Paramount+ produced four seasons of the quirky, at times outrageous, horror-leaning show, but Evil finally died in 2024. Netflix subscribers have been able to enjoy the first two seasons of demonic action on the now-canceled series, but season 3 has been absent from the service, while Evil season 4 just streamed in 2024.
That’s all about to change, however, as Netflix reveals that Evil season 3 is finally being added to the lineup, beginning on December 31 (via Tudum). The first three seasons of the show are now available to Netflix subscribers, while season 4 remains a Paramount+ exclusive for the time-being.

Toy Story is one of the most beloved children’s animated films of all time. The film series has remained timeless through the test of decades, still being just as iconic and culturally relevant as when the first film was released in 1995. Although many just think of the toys when the film is mentioned, its cast is just as impressive and surprisingly less talked about.

However, many fans of the Pixar film will be disappointed to know that Toy Story was not his favorite animated film to do.

Larger-than-life John Candy paired with innovative liberl documentarian Michael Moore might not be what audiences expected. But in 1995, Candy starred in Moore's one and only fictional film, Canadian Bacon: a satirical look at national identity, American-Canadian relations, and the sheer ludicrousness of war. It's reminiscent of 1980's Airplane silly, daft, yet sharp as a tack.
Where Moore is typically renowned for culturally significant documentaries using journalistic techniques, such as Fahrenheit 9/11 and Bowling for Columbine, Canadian Bacon is a scripted narrative with characters. The film features comedic heavyweights Rhea Perlman, Rip Torn, Dan Aykroyd, Alan Alda, Wallace Shawn, and Jim Belushi, among others, with Candy leading the way. Movies are empathy machines, as Roger Ebert once wrote. The best films allow us to experience emotions we may not have felt otherwise through a particular character’s story. But some movies conjure emotions that we’re actively seeking out. Happiness. Joy. Love. We call these “feel-good movies.” Everybody has their go-to stable of films they return to over and over again when they need a boost — or maybe just an escape.

Chuck Lorre always feared Young Sheldon might flop, dragging down the beloved legacy of The Big Bang Theory. When he first launched the spin-off, he worried audiences wouldn’t take to the show’s nostalgic charm or Sheldon’s backstory. After all, prequels can be risky—especially when they’re expanding on an iconic character like Sheldon Cooper.

Toy Story helped to launch Pixar as a titan of the animation world, and the best Toy Story quotes throughout the franchise show the humor and heart of these movies. The story of Woody, Buzz, and the other toys in Andy's room has captured the hearts of fans, delivering four movies to date with the unexpected announcement of Toy Story 5 proves that Pixar is reluctant to let this franchise go. It's not surprising they want more given the Toy Story quotes that have stayed with fans and made these movies so beloved.
The simple premise of exploring what toys do when humans are not around is a fun jumping-off point. However, the movies have gone far beyond by looking at the enemies-to-friends relationship between Woody and Buzz, dealing with a child outgrowing their toys, and the purpose these toys have in the world. Coulda shoulda woulda — when it comes to breakthrough ‘80s comedy Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, there’s a murderers’ row of comedians who might have taken on the lead role that eventually went to Bob Hoskins. Robin Williams, Wallace Shawn and Sylvester Stallone were reportedly considered to play beleaguered private dick Eddie Valiant, but two comedy superstars in particular wished they’d thought twice about taking the job: Bill Murray and Eddie Murphy.
According to director Robert Zemeckis on the film’s DVD commentary, he and producer Steven Spielberg had Murray at the very top of their list to play Eddie. There was only one problem — neither man knew how to get hold of the Ghostbusters star. That’s not surprising for those familiar with Murray legend. The comedian doesn’t employ an agent or manager; he instead uses an unlisted 800 number to collect his messages. Sometimes (like when Sofia Coppola...

Negan's name was originally going to be Naygus, but changed thanks to unintentional inspiration from Star Trek. Negan's origin was also changed - Kirkman considered him being the unseen character 'Davidson' but decided against it. Maggie was originally going to kill Negan, but artist Charlie Adlard asked that he survive and see through his redemption arc.
Despite being one of the most iconic pop culture villains of the last couple of decades, The Walking Dead's Negan was almost completely different. Not only did the post-apocalyptic killer originally have a different name, but his story was meant to conclude with a brutal death. However, multiple changes shaped him into the character fans know today, and one of them was all thanks to Star Trek.
Image Comics is currently publishing The Walking Dead Deluxe, adding Dave McCaig's colors to Robert Kirkman, Charlie Adlard and Tony Moore's original black and white comic,...
