Rob Lowe revealed that he had a good sense of humor when he neared the end of his time on The West Wing, and he even showed off a prop he made before he officially parted ways with the series.
In a TikTok video posted on Thursday, Lowe spoke directly to the camera as he stood in a storage room. “So a lot has been talked about my issues, such as they were on The West Wing, which I love. I love that show and I love everybody in it,” he began. “It’s all good now, but there were some difficulties.”
Lowe said that at one point, “they had sort of written [him] off the show” and it left him feeling like he didn’t have “a lot to do.”
“So I made these and I sent them to everybody affiliated with the show. The network, the studio, producers,” Lowe...

Dexter: Resurrection on Paramount+ is making waves and rightly so. But the show’s narrative so far spotlights one glaring omission from Dexter: New Blood: Harrison’s half-siblings, Cody and Astor. The two characters, who were a part of the original series’ main cast, remain unmentioned, even in the second reboot of the franchise.
While we have only gotten to Dexter: Resurrection Episode 3 so far, the blatant removal of these characters from the show, or rather, Harrison and Dexter Morgan’s memory, is not sitting right with longtime fans of the franchise. While the two were not mentioned in New Blood (via Screen Rant), fans held high hopes for their appearance in the most recent reboot. Let’s dive into why this omission stings viewers who have been with the franchise since its early days.

Dexter: Resurrection brings back Michael C. Hall and other stars from the original series, but there wasn't room for everyone to return. That's left at least one Dexter alum feeling bummed about getting left out.
In the classic Dexter, Julie Benz co-starred as Rita, Dexter Morgan's girlfriend (and later wife). After starring in the first four seasons, Benz had her character shockingly killed off, though she later popped back up for a flashback sequence. Dexter is also known to have visions of other deceased characters, so it was certainly possible for Rita to make an appearance somehow in Resurrection. However, per Bingetown TV, Benz said she is not going to appear in the new show.

Dexter: Resurrection on Paramount+ is sparing no cost in making Og fans feel right at home. Right from a familiar sense of thrill and Dexter’s signature kill rituals to giving us cameos from some of our favorites from the original series, the show has already won fan love and appreciation, only 3 episodes in.
Dexter: Resurrection Episode 3 hid a surprise appearance from two of the fans’ favorite characters from the Og, and it was everything you would expect and more. In only a few minutes of screen time, these fan favorites were able to thrust us right back to the 2000s and relive the Dexter glory days. The best part? These appearances were not even confirmed prior to the episode’s release, and that makes us wonder, what other surprises could Resurrection have in store for the Og fans?

When one has enjoyed a long, storied career in acting, there comes a time when they notch up several iconic roles to their name. Shawn Hatosy’s career fits that bill, and he has earned his first ever Emmy nomination for his role in HBO Max's medical drama, The Pitt, where he plays Dr. Jack Abbot. Following his nomination, Hatosy sat down with Deadline to discuss his most iconic characters over the years. One of them resides in the Dexter television series.
In recent times, the television franchise has been revived with Dexter: Resurrection bringing back the most notorious serial killers to life. Developed by Clyde Phillips, the new show brings back Michael C. Hall as the titular Dexter Morgan, with the show serving as a sequel to Dexter: New Blood and Dexter. The off-shoot has also featured cameos from John Lithgow as Arthur “Trinity Killer” Mitchell, and Jimmy Smits as Miguel Prado.

For a television franchise as influential as Dexter, nothing short of absolute domination on the viewership charts can be considered successful. The franchise returned recently with a new sequel series, titled Dexter: Resurrection. Set in the aftermath of the events shown in Dexter: New Blood, the series finds everybody's favorite serial killer, played by the returning Michael C. Hall, mentoring his now-grown son Harrison in the ways of "the Code," while evading the suspicions of his old buddy, Angel Batista. Although Resurrectiondebuted to positive reviews and impressive ratings, the show seems to have taken a rather unexpected tumble.
According to FlixPatrol, Resurrectioncouldn't find a spot on the Paramount+ top 10 on July 16 and 17. This is astounding, seeing as four dormant Taylor Sheridan shows — Yellowstone, 1923, Lioness, and Tulsa King — found spots on the top 10 list, which was topped by MobLand. Clyde Phillips’ Dexter: Resurrection has been reanimating many of the franchise’s most prolific serial killers, including the titular Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall), alongside cameos from John Lithgow as Arthur “Trinity Killer” Mitchell, and Jimmy Smits as Miguel Prado in the Season 1 premiere. And while they have their freshman season already in the can, there are plenty of other names to throw into the hat.
In conversation with Deadline following the announcement of his first Emmy nomination for his work in HBO Max’s The Pitt, Hatosy reflected on some of the most impactful characters he’s played, including serial killer Boyd Fowler from Dexter‘s fifth season. He noted in our story yesterday that when picking characters, he tries to find something to love about them.
“Absolutely. That was a delicious character. So much going on; talk about layers,” Hatosy said about potentially reprising the role on the new Showtime spinoff.

It would seem like the "dark passenger" missed the boat. The latest revival of the landmark series Dexter, Dexter: Resurrection, debuted recently to mostly positive reviews. It's the third time that the series has been brought back after its original run, which ended with an infamously lackluster finale in 2013. Dexter: Resurrectionhad a decent start on Paramount+, but it has already surrendered its crown to the wildly popular crime drama MobLand. Headlined by Tom Hardy and executive produced by Guy Ritchie, MobLand concluded its debut season weeks ago, but it remains a force to be reckoned with on the Paramount+ charts.

Just like Slim Shady, Dexter Morgan's back (back again).
If you're keeping track at home, Dexter: Resurrection is the fourth series about the vigilante serial killer (portrayed by Emmy nominee Michael C. Hall). It's the sequel to the sequel of the original Emmy-winning drama (the fourth series in the popular franchise is a prequel). While we cannot say how Dexter survived a seemingly fatal gunshot wound in 2021's Dexter: New Blood, we're willing to bet the latest series — the first two episodes of which are now streaming on Paramount+ (the show airs Sunday at 8 p.m. Et/Pt on Showtime) — will answer this very question.

Spoiler Alert: The following reveals major plot points for the Dexter: Resurrection series premiere
Michael C. Hall is back as Dexter Morgan in Showtime’s Dexter: Resurrection, having cheated death again and ready to slay more serial killer butt. The first two episodes are available to stream now.
The new spinoff follows the events of Dexter: New Blood, which ended with Dexter’s son, Harrison (Jack Alcott), shooting his very first serial killer, his dad. Dexter decided it was time he be taken out, having reemerged with his dark passenger, unable to release the monster inside. It’s part of the code, after all.
In the first moments of Dexter: Original Sin, it’s revealed that the titular killer had survived the attempt on his life and had been rushed to the hospital. The prequel spinoff, starring Patrick Gibson as young Dexter, follows the serial killer in training as...

Note: The first episode of "Dexter: Resurrection" is now streaming on Paramount+ Premium, and debuts on Showtime at 8pm Et this Sunday night. This post contains spoilers for the premiere episode.
Showtime was adamant about Michael C. Hall's eponymous serial killer staying alive in the "Dexter" finale, and now we know why. The character's popularity among viewers means that he can always be brought back for more slaughter-filled adventures, and it was only a matter of time until the Bay Harbor Butcher struck again. The revival series, "Dexter: New Blood," caught up with Dexter Morgan years after faking his own death, revealing that he moved from Miami to a small town, where he lived under a fake alias. It was only a matter of time until he got into trouble again, though, and the series ended with his son shooting him in the chest and leaving him for dead.

This post contains spoilers from Dexter: Resurrection season 1 episode 1 from this point forward.
It’s been four years since we last caught up with Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall). In the sequel series, Dexter: New Blood, we met him living in a small, secluded little town in upstate New York. He was going by the name Jim Lindsay, and he was living a quiet life. He owned a store. He kept up with his fitness. He had a girlfriend—the Chief of Police, no less—and he kept his urges in check.
All that came undone as his son, Harrison (Jack Alcott), found him. Dexter was forced to confront his past and to try and pass on something to his son. But it didn’t take long for things to go off the rails. His past surfaced. He faced new challenges. And as the show closed, Harrison took aim and shot his father.

Spoiler Alert: This article contains spoilers for “A Beating Heart…,” the series premiere of “Dexter: Resurrection,” now streaming on Paramount+.
When “Dexter: Resurrection” was announced during last year’s San Diego Comic-Con, we sat down with Michael C. Hall to ask one main question: How?
During “Dexter: New Blood” in 2022, the finale saw the serial killer bleeding out in the freezing cold after being shot by his son. At that time, showrunner Clyde Phillips confirmed that “Dexter is dead.” But apparently, he was just kidding!

You can’t keep a good serial killer down — especially not when there’s IP to exploit.

Ahsoka may no longer be the only recent live-action Star Wars series to receive a second season. A new rumor claims that Lucasfilm is in development on another season of Obi-Wan Kenobi.
According to Daniel Richtman (via The Direct), Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2 is now in development at Lucasfilm. Unfortunately, the scooper did not indicate when the second season might go into production or be released on Disney+. Originally envisioned as a solo film, Obi-Wan Kenobi was redeveloped into a limited series following the financial failure of Solo: A Star Wars Story. With the physical media release of Obi-Wan Kenobi labeling it as "The Complete Series" as opposed to "Season 1," it's clear that Lucasfilm initially had no intention of continuing the Disney+ show despite fan interest.

As the 2025 Primetime Emmy nominations voting nears its end, some of this year’s contenders are poised to make history in a variety of ways. With groundbreaking representation, unprecedented season hauls, and potential new records, here are 14 significant milestones that could be achieved when the nominations are announced, possibly paving the way for historic wins.
“The Studio” Eyes First-Season Emmy Record
In 2021, “Ted Lasso” set the bar with 20 nominations for its debut season — the highest ever for a comedy in its first year. Now, another Apple series, “The Studio,” could challenge that record. Variety predicts the show is hovering around 19 nominations, but insiders say it could surpass “Ted Lasso” if additional technical or acting nods come through.
Seth Rogen Could Tie Record for Most Individual Wins in One Night
Speaking of “The Studio,” Seth Rogen has four submissions tied to the Apple romp — comedy series, lead actor, writing and directing.

The haunting memory of James Doakes, the intelligent, no-nonsense sergeant who came terrifyingly close to exposing Dexter Morgan’s dark secret, is being resurrected. After years of being absent from the franchise, Erik King is supposedly making a return in the upcoming Dexter: Resurrection series.
Because the character met a shocking end in Season 2, the revival doesn’t plan on literally resurrecting him. Instead, Doakes will be appearing as a hallucination, making him a part of Dexter’s emotional torment. With this freshly revealed twist, the show is set to revisit one of its most tragic and morally complex fallouts: the wrongful demise of a man whose only crime was knowing Dexter’s real identity.

Terry Louise Fisher, the former Los Angeles assistant district attorney who put her legal expertise to work when she teamed with Steven Bochco to create the acclaimed NBC drama L.A. Law, has died. She was 79.
Fisher lived in the Laguna Beach area and died Tuesday, family member Mark Zev Hochberg wrote on Facebook.
The Chicago native began her career in television in 1983 as a writer-producer on the second season of Cagney & Lacey. She worked alongside writing partner Steve Brown on the iconic CBS series for three seasons through 1985, and they returned for a pair of reunion telefilms in 1994 and ’95.
Fisher and Bochco also created the ABC dramedy Hooperman, starring John Ritter as a San Francisco police inspector. That 20th Century Fox Television series lasted two seasons (1987-89).
L.A. Law, revolving around the fictional law firm McKenzie, Brackman, Chaney and Kuzak, ran eight seasons from 1986-94 and collected 15 Emmys, including four for outstanding drama series.

Attendees at the 33rd annual American Film Institute Life Achievement Award ceremony honoring Star Wars creator George Lucas got a surprise from the final frontier when, of all people, William Shatner, Star Trek’s original Captain Kirk, arrived on stage to open the festivities. It happened on June 9, 2005, and it remains an indelible moment of entertainment galaxies colliding.
Shatner basked in the moment, giving a remarkably Shatner-ian performance. He hammed it up, smiled broadly, joked about his hair (comparing it to the honoree’s iconic follicles), and, yes, sang. Upon Shatner's introduction, the faces of Lucas, Harrison Ford, Steven Spielberg, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, and Chewbacca all expressed shock. Shatner then elicited chuckles with his opening line: “Star Trek changed everything.” He then cracked, “Aren’t these conventions wonderful?” And from there, after two stormtroopers nearly carried him off the stage, Shatner engaged in his signature talk-sing warbling, delivering a...

Paramount+ has fixed 11 July 2025 for the two-episode launch of Dexter: Resurrection, dropping a trailer that opens with Michael C. Hall’s anti-hero jolting awake in a Miami hospital and ends with him boarding a bus to New York City. The streamer will pair the digital debut with a linear rollout on Showtime two days later, then release eight weekly installments through early September.
Set weeks after Harrison shot his father in Dexter: New Blood, the revival finds a guilt-stricken Dexter tracking the runaway teenager while Miami Metro veteran Angel Batista closes in on proof that the Bay Harbor Butcher never died. Showrunner Clyde Phillips told fans during a March Reddit Ama that Hall himself pushed hardest for the comeback, arguing the original character arc “never reconciled father and son.” Phillips added that the writers’ room built season one to stand alone yet “left doors open” for additional chapters.

“Somebody once told me, you have to go through hell to achieve resurrection. Hallelujah,” says Michael C. Hall’s bone-chilling titular serial killer as he opens his eyes in a hospital bed. So begins the first trailer for the anticipated Dexter: Resurrection, which picks up immediately following the events of the concluded Dexter: New Blood.
“It’s like seeing a ghost,” says David Zayas’ Miami Metro captain Angel Batista upon greeting Dexter Morgan, warning him of the suspicions around his identity as the Bay Harbor Butcher.
The show’s official logline is as follows: Weeks after Dexter takes a bullet to the chest from his own son, he awakens from a coma to find Harrison (Jack Alcott) gone without a trace. Realizing the weight of what he put his son through, Dexter sets out for New York City, determined to find him and make things right. But closure won’t come easily.

Although it seemed that Dexter’s journey had finally come to an end following the character’s “death,” you really cannot keep a good killer down. Dexter: Resurrection is now just over a month away from binging back Michael C. Hall’s ever-popular vigilante serial killer, and that means it is time for a brand-new trailer to whet the appetite for this follow-up to Dexter: New Blood. Surprise motherf***er indeed.
When Dexter came to an end in 2013, with a rather disappointing finale for many fans, it seemed like that was it for the killer ways of the character. But almost a decade later, Dexter: New Blood picked up the story, bringing in, as the title suggests, plenty of new blood to the franchise while also bringing back Hall in the titular role. Last year, the prequel series Dexter: Original Sin became yet another unexpected addition to the franchise.

For eight seasons and 96 episodes, from 2006 to 2013, the series Dexter ran on Showtime, telling the story of Dexter Morgan, a blood spatter analyst for the Miami Metro Police Department who is also a vigilante serial killer. Clyde Phillips was showrunner on Dexter for the first four seasons, and in 2021 he and Showtime brought us the revival series Dexter: New Blood… which, for a time, also seemed to be the end of it all. But that’s not the case. Showtime has tasked Phillips with continue to build up the Dexter franchise, with the prequel series Dexter: Original Sin premiering back in December and a New Blood follow-up called Dexter: Resurrection, which heard was heading for a June premiere date. It’s actually going to miss June by a handful of days, as Showtime has revealed (and trades like The Hollywood Reporter have confirmed) that Dexter: Resurrection is going to premiere with two episodes on Friday,...

The first official trailer for the upcoming Dexter sequel series, Dexter: Resurrection, has been released by Paramount+ with Showtime at Ccxp Mexico 2025. Created by Dexter: New Blood and Dexter: Original Sin showrunner Clyde Phillips, Dexter: Resurrection will take place after the events of Dexter: New Blood, which ended with Dexter seemingly being shot and killed by his adult son, Harrison. A brief opening scene in Dexter: Original Sin, which received mostly positive reviews, revealed that Dexter survived the gunshot ahead of the Dexter: Resurrection series premiere on July 11, 2025.

Before Law & Order or Brooklyn Nine-Nine goofed around booming its iconic ‘dun-dun’, there was NYPD Blue, a raw, gritty, and full of drama that didn’t pull any punches. The show premiered in 1993 and gave viewers a front-row seat to the corruption, chaos, and complicated lives of the 15th Precinct’s finest (and sometimes not-so-fine) in New York City.
The show ran for 12 seasons and became one of the Ogs of police TV drama. NYPD Blue featured themes of tough love, often accompanied by shirtless scenes and detectives who didn’t always play by the rules.
And the cast? Well, let’s just say they were perfect. From the intense Andy Sipowicz to the cool John Kelly, the characters weren’t just solving crimes, they were also dealing with messy personal lives, occasional questionable choices, and drinking problems. Now since the sirens have faded long ago and the precinct doors have closed,...

Nearly three years after the show premiered on Disney+, Andor has concluded its two-season run. The magnificent series is now regarded as one of the best Star Wars projects ever created, bolstered by a standout cast led by Diego Luna. The show made waves in the galaxy far, far away by focusing primarily on new characters, but Andor still includes several legacy players from the franchise. One of which is Bail Organa, now played by Emmy-nominated actor Benjamin Bratt, who replaced Jimmy Smits. Will the new Star Wars star reprise the role in the future? The actor weighs in on the possibility.
During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Benjamin Bratt talked about potentially taking on the role of Bail Organa in future Star Wars projects. Although it is unclear if the character will appear anytime soon, the actor is more than willing to return, especially if Andor creator Tony Gilroy is involved.

It wasn't surprising that Bail Organa showed up in Andor - he was a key figure of the Rebellion, after all. But what was surprising was that when Bail showed up, he wasn't played by Jimmy Smits, the man who had portrayed him since the Star Wars prequel trilogy. He was instead played by Benjamin Bratt.
Smits was unavailable when Andor filming rolled around, and Kathleen Kennedy suggested casting Bratt instead. It proved to be a good decision, as Bratt was already a Star Wars fan.
"It was an easy yes, of course," Bratt told Entertainment Weekly. "I mean, I am old enough to remember standing in the line that wrapped around the corner in my hometown of San Francisco, waiting to see [Star Wars] at the Coronet Theater on Geary Boulevard in 70mm Dolby stereo. And never imagining in my wildest dreams that I would have an opportunity to play in a sandbox this formidable,...

"Andor" might be officially over, but the reactions, revelations, and discussions surrounding the most acclaimed live-action "Star Wars" series ever certainly aren't going anywhere anytime soon. After spending years getting to know Diego Luna's Cassian Andor with far more subtlety and nuance than "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" ever had time for, we now know exactly what made him into the hardened Rebel operative we saw in the 2016 movie. Yet, even this sprawling, 12-episode final season had quite a few surprises up its sleeve -- not all of which ultimately made the final cut.
Creator and writer Tony Gilroy has been making the press rounds lately (including a recent conversation with /Film's very own Ben Pearson), and in one particular interview, he opened up about his original plans for a major original trilogy cameo that was simply not to be. There are very few characters who’ve left an impact quite as lasting as Debra Morgan in the twisted world of Dexter. Played to perfection by Jennifer Carpenter, Debra was the emotionally complex, sharp-tongued sister of Dexter Morgan. Deb essentially served as the original series’ emotional anchor. As Dexter: Resurrection gets ready for release in 2025, fans are eager to see familiar faces return.
While it’s been confirmed we won’t be seeing Deb hurling her signature foul-mouthed comments in the upcoming series, her absence in no way means her presence will vanish. The reboot series has the golden opportunity to honor Deb’s legacy by bringing back a character closely connected to her past: Detective Joseph Quinn. His return holds the power to righteously serve as the emotional core we didn’t know we needed.

Editor's note: The below recap contains spoilers for Andor Season 2
Thanks to Andor’s new release model that sees the show release three episodes at a time, the hit Star Wars series will conclude with its final batch of installments next week. One of the more beloved scenes from the first few episodes came from Mon Motha (Genevieve O’Reilly) dancing at her daughter’s wedding. This is much more than a few simple moves, as Mon is dancing to mask her pain, anxiety, and fears. The scene represents so much of what Mon Mothma and other members of the rebellion deal with regularly, and during a recent interview with Collider’s Steve Weintraub, creator Tony Gilroy spoke about how it came to be:
"We built the song with Nick [Britell] last season, and then it was a sort of intergalactic hit. Then we were like, 'I'm going to do the wedding.

Andor season 2 episode 9, by far, is the finest chapter the series has ever done. Featuring a sterling performance from Genevieve O’Reilly. The episode offers a close, galactic look at standing up to the ever-expanding forces of authoritarianism, particularly the erosion of civil rights, the undermining of peaceful transfers of power, propaganda, attacks on the free press, and colonialism.
You’ll be particularly impressed with the writing of this Andor episode, which is Emmy-worthy. Take in the sharp critique of the crackdown on dissent, the erosion of checks and balances, and the centralization of power, all of which ultimately led to the genocide in Ghorrman. The speech from O’Reilly’s Mon Mothma in the Galactic Senate is jaw-droppingly effective.

We’re in the endgame of Tony Gilroy’s Andor, and while season 1 of the Star Wars spy thriller played out across 12 weeks, things have been moving at a breakneck speed as each three-episode arc covers a year in the run-up to the cataclysmic events of 2016’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Proving it’s much more than just biding time until we get to a presumably shocking finale that cues that fateful mission to Scarif, Andor continues to dip into the forgotten annals of Legends canon to bring back the forgotten past of the galaxy far, far away.

Every year on this say, Star Wars fans the world over show their appreciation for all things Galaxy Far, Far Away, and Lucasfilm has now joined the celebration by releasing an all-new montage of footage from every movie, live-action and animated series in the saga.

We haven't seen Star Wars on the big screen since The Rise of Skywalker, but that will soon change. In addition to Shawn Levy's Star Wars: Starfighter, Lucasfilm has Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy's untitled Rey-focused movie, James Mangold's Dawn of the Jedi (probably not the official title), and Dave Filoni's "Mandoverse" crossover event in the works.

Yes, it’s the glorious time of the year again for Star Wars fans, May the Fourth be with you. As lightsabers hum and Jedi robes swirl across the galaxy, (and the internet), it’s impossible to ignore how George Lucas’ space saga still rules pop culture hyperspace. From Baby Yoda memes to lightsaber-wielding toddlers, the Star Wars Force is very much alive.
But as we raise our blue milk in celebration today, there’s one Jedi injustice we still can’t let go of. It’s Revenge of the Sith, yes, that fiery, heart-shattering, lava-scorching Episode III which somehow got the cold shoulder at the Oscars.
Surprisingly, the movie didn’t get nominated for Best Visual Effects, like really Academy? Even Mustafar’s lava would’ve frozen in shock. Sure, it did get a nod for hair and makeup, but scorning the most CGI-heavy prequel? That still doesn’t sit well with us.

While recasting legacy characters in established franchises doesn't always work out well, one popular fantasy casting that's come up with Star Wars fans is the idea of Sebastian Stan playing Luke Skywalker. It's a potential casting that Luke actor Mark Hamill is said to be supporting, though Stan is in no rush to take over the role.

John Nania, Sebastian Stan's stunt double, has revealed Mark Hamill wants Stan as a recast Luke Skywalker in Star Wars. Lucasfilm has always been wary of recasting characters, blaming the Han Solo recast on Solo: A Star Wars Story's box office failure. The debate on recasting legacy characters has recently resurfaced, though, after Andor recast the character of Bail Organa due to original actor Jimmy Smits not being available.
Now, Sebastian Stan stunt double John Nania has told Cantina Talk that Mark Hamill himself supports a popular recast - that Stan would be a great young Luke Skywalker. Hamill has discussed the idea with Stan, and he apparently loves the idea; Stan himself is wary of taking over while the classic actor is still in role. As Nania explained when asked about the idea of this recast:
"Do you know how many conversations he and I have had about this?...

Star Wars franchise fans were in for a bit of a surprise as a major role was recast for Season 2 of the Disney+ series Andor.Bail Organa, who was portrayed by Jimmy Smits in the prequel movies and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, was instead replaced with Law & Orderalum Benjamin Bratt.
Making his Star Wars debut, Bratt told StarWars.com that he was excited to play the iconic and heroic rebel in Andor. “I find the show’s writing to be very spare, and yet it’s incredibly elaborate,” he said of the series, which was created by Tony Gilroy. “It says exactly what you need to say to get the essence, the truth of the scene conveyed on the page,” he said.

After the passing of Ray Stevenson and the premiere of Season 1 of Ahsoka, it was clear that Star Wars had a real tough choice to make. His character, Baylan Skoll, was instantly iconic, and it was clear from the season's cliffhanger that there was so much more to tell. However, there was a real question about how to do it. Star Wars had been embracing deep fake technology, and some actors, like James Earl Jones, approved using AI for their voice and likeness before they passed away.
While impressive from a special effects standpoint, there was something about these technological choices that didn't look or sound right. Fans have been mixed on these applications in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and The Book of Boba Fett.
So, with the announcement of Rory McCann stepping in for Baylan Skoll and the reveal that Benjamin Bratt now plays Bail Organa in Andor,...

It’s hard to believe that there are just six episodes of Tony Gilroy’s Andor left, but as we scooch closer to the events of Gareth Edwards’ Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, some familiar faces from the galaxy far, far away are sure to stop by. Andor season 2 has already brought back Ben Mendelsohn’s villainous Orson Krennic to expand the Imperial director’s backstory, while Alan Tudyk is confirmed to reprise his role as K-2So. There are whispers we could see more of Mads Mikkelsen’s Galen Erso, and although the idea of Felicity Jones popping up might be a pipe dream, the fact that Andor is confirmed to collide with the start of Rogue One means anything is possible.
More than just old favorites, Andor has juggled his plenty of newcomers with a starring role for Diego Luna’s titular 'rebel scum”. Standouts like Stellan Skarsgård...

Andor Season 2 won't include some iconic Star Wars villains like Darth Vader or Emperor Palpatine, but it is not afraid to include other iconic characters. In one of the more shocking moments of the new season, it was revealed that Benjamin Bratt was cast as Bail Organa, replacing Jimmy Smits after he portrayed the character for over 20 years. Instead of using CGI Deepfake technology, Andor decided to simply recast, and the decision has already paid dividends. Bratt himself has now commented on the exciting development, as well as the future of his portrayal of the character.
In a new interview, Benjamin Bratt expressed his admiration for Jimmy Smits, and teased how Bail Organa plays an important role for the rest of Andor Season 2. “I’ve always known Jimmy to be an incredibly talented actor. He possesses elegance, a natural grace, a goodness really, an earnestness that this particular character requires,...
