Adam Lambert Defends Cynthia Erivo’s ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ Casting: “That’s The Point”
Image
As Cynthia Erivo channels the Son of God, her Judas is coming to her defense.

Ahead of this weekend’s star-studded Jesus Christ Superstar concert at Hollywood Bowl, Adam Lambert defended the casting of Erivo in the eponymous biblical role, which has drawn backlash from some circles over the Tony-winning actress being a Black LGBTQ woman.

“Cynthia’s brilliant. Her voice, presence, and simultaneous power and vulnerability absolutely blows my mind and working with her has been a dream,” Lambert told Billboard. “I’m excited by the challenge of presenting the audience with a production led by a female, Black ‘Jesus’ and encourage the audience to expand their minds a bit. Originally utilizing rock and roll, Jesus Christ Superstar is supposed to provoke and challenge, that’s the point. And shouldn’t the teachings of Jesus transcend gender?”

Erivo was cast as Jesus back in February, the actress addressed the discourse in an interview.

Marvel recast: A-List star set to 'take over' iconic role in new Disney show
Image
The beauty of the Marvel multiverse - or, well, any multiverse for that matter - is that there are really cool explanations to highlight why different versions of the same character exist. This also allows current adaptations of those characters to incoporate all of the previous ones too, making them all canon - even if they aren't canon to the same timeline or universe. They all existed, and that's what matters.

DC did it on TV with the Arrowverse and movies with the former Dceu, Now, Marvel is doing it with the Multiverse Saga. And as a result of this, any properties that run parallel to the Marvel Cinematic Universe can still be explained away as existing in an alternate timeline. It means that we can have multiple versions of the same character appear in either the same or different properties.

Why are we explaining this now? Well, because a...

‘Full House’ Creator Says This Was One of Sitcom’s Worst Episodes
Image
Apologies to Jeff Franklin, creator of the Tgif sitcom Full House, but the show aired many episodes that could compete for the series’ worst. Maybe that’s why Franklin limited it to Season Three when he picked his “controversial” entry for most horrible episode, that year’s season premiere, “Tanner’s Island.”

The premise is predictably dopey. To celebrate the anniversary of Joey and Jesse moving in with the Tanners (did they have the date written on the calendar?), Danny gifts everyone with a surprise vacation to Hawaii. That’s a helluva present! There are the usual hijinks (Joey wants to hook up with a hula dancer) before their three-hour boat tour goes awry, and the fam finds themselves stranded on a deserted island.

Yeah, it’s Gilligan’s Island, complete with coconuts falling on Joey’s head.

“It had so much potential and cost so much money,” Franklin told...

Shriner recalled how an “arrogant surgeon” performed a “subtalar fusion” on him last year in a June 30 X video. “He botched it,” the actor explained. “So, for six months, I basically couldn’t walk.” According to the Cleveland Clinic, a subtalar fusion is a type of surgery that fuses together the two subtalar joints below the ankle so they become one. Following the procedure, Shriner said his “good pal” John Stamos recommended he check out a doctor at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. The doctor “redid” the surgery with much success, allowing Shriner to recover appropriately. “I’m down here in old Fort Lauderdale rehabbing this foot every day, every day, so that I can get mobile,” Shriner continued, joking that he has been breaking “attendance records” at a local gym.

‘Doctor Odyssey’ Remains at Dock, Even as ABC Insists It’s Not Canceled
Image
Doctor Odyssey won’t be setting sail for a second season — for now, and maybe not ever. But ABC maintains that the series hasn’t been canceled, even as its cast is on the verge of being free to pursue other work.

The series, co-created by Ryan Murphy, Jon Robin Baitz and Joe Baken, was the only scripted ABC show whose future was up in the air as the 2024-25 season came to a close. ABC has repeatedly said that it’s still weighing the show’s future: Disney Television Group president Craig Erwich told The Hollywood Reporter in May that “We’re continuing to have creative conversations with Ryan, and we’ll talk to him about what the next chapter looks like.”

Yet as those conversations were happening, Doctor Odyssey’s sets were being struck, sources tell THR, and contract options for the cast are set to expire Monday.

Doctor Odyssey: ABC Medical Drama Cancelled, No Season Two for Ryan Murphy Series
The doctor is "out" and won't be back for ABC's 2025-26 TV season. Doctor Odyssey has been essentially cancelled as the cast's second season option expire. The first season of 18 episodes finished airing last month.

A medical drama series, the Doctor Odyssey TV show was created by Ryan Murphy, Jon Robin Baitz, and Joe Baken. The series stars Joshua Jackson, Don Johnson, Phillipa Soo, and Sean Teale. In the story, Dr. Max Bankman (Jackson) is the new on-board doctor for a luxury cruise ship. On board, Captain Robert Massey (Johnson) and his staff work hard and play even harder. It’s all-hands-on-deck as Max and his small but mighty medical team -- Nurse Avery Morgan (Soo) and Nurse Tristan Silva (Teale) -- navigate unique medical crises and each other, miles from shore. Guests in the first season include Shania Twain, John Stamos,...

'Doctor Odyssey' Canceled After One Season at ABC
Image
Ryan Murphy has created and produced some of the most popular television series. He just has an eye for what viewers prefer to watch with his credits including Glee, American Horror Story, Pose, 9-1-1, and The Watcher. Murphy is not slowing down, either. In 2024, ABC's Doctor Odyssey was added to the writer's list of productions. While doctors aboard a luxury cruise caught the attention, it seems not to have had the level of interest to convince ABC to renew it.

Who wouldn't want to tune in to watch highly skilled doctors on a luxury cruise handling medical cases far away from the nearest shore? Within its 18 episodes, there was no shortage of drama and cases for Dr. Max Bankman (Joshua Jackson) and his team. However, there seemed to be a shortage in ABC's interest to renew the series, as the network decided to cancel it instead. According to Variety, fans...

The ‘Full House’ Moms Hated Bob Saget’s Dirty Talk
Image
Jodie Sweetin, Andrea Barber, John Stamos and Lori Loughlin recently had a mini Full House reunion during a live version of the How Rude, Tanneritos podcast. The gang reminisced, as old cast members do, and eventually the conversation turned to Bob Saget, the late actor who played Danny Tanner on the show.

As anyone who’s seen The Aristocrats knows, Saget was notorious for filthy jokes, which made him an interesting presence on the set of a kiddie sitcom. Despite working with young co-stars, Saget rarely held back his favorite kind of humor. Stamos asked the younger actors, “What’s the most foul thing Bob said ever that got him the most in trouble?”

“I don’t know that I’d want to say it into a microphone,” replied Sweetin, who played Saget’s TV daughter Stephanie. Since she’s reluctant to repeat the raunchy punchlines, let’s let Saget do it himself.

How Much Does The Home From Full House Cost?
Image
From 1987 to 1995, ABC's family sitcom "Full House" entertained audiences with its exploration into the lives of the Tanner family household led by widower Danny Tanner (Bob Saget). Danny raised his three daughters, D.J. (Candace Cameron Bure), Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin), and Michelle (Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen) with the help of his brother-in-law Jesse Katsopolis (John Stamos) and best friend Joey Gladstone (Dave Coulier) in his titular full house in San Francisco, CA. Throughout the series' eight-year run, the Tanner household grows larger, as does the property value of the house itself.

Over 20 years after the original series' conclusion, Netflix's "Fuller House" caught viewers up with the Tanners' lives in the 21st century, with the now-grown-up widowed mother D.J. raising her three sons with the help of her sister Stephanie and best friend Kimmy Gibbler (Andrea Barber). Premise sure sounds familiar, huh? Well, given the timeless nature of family-related sitcoms,...
