'Sex and the City' Sequel 'And Just Like That Canceled' at HBO Max
Image
Carrie Bradshaw is a character that, no matter who you talk to, everyone will know. She was brought to life by Sarah Jessica Parker and has become a household name since Sex and the City debuted in 1998. An on-screen friend or sister to many women watching, Bradshaw either gave them the courage to live life freely or was an example of who not to be. Alongside other characters like Charlotte York (Kristin Davis), Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon), and Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall), the romantic comedy drama became a classic, with two feature films and a sequel series, And Just Like That... After saying goodbye to Bradshaw once, viewers must gear up to repeat it as the sequel iscoming to an end.

According to Variety, the current third season of the HBO Max series will be the last. The news was revealed by showrunner Michael Patrick King, who is also the writer and director.

Andy Cohen Had Trouble Nailing His ‘And Just Like That’ Cameo: ‘I’m Not Good at It’
Image
Andy Cohen became the latest big name to cameo on “And Just Like That” — which will wrap its third and final season on August 14 — appearing as an employee at Bergdorf Goodman named Daniel. Cohen joins many, many other celebrities that have appeared on the “Sex and the City” sequel series, including Patti LuPone, Rosie O’Donnell, Jenifer Lewis, Sam Smith, Drew Barrymore, Billy Dee Williams, Gloria Steinem, Tony Danza, Candice Bergen… the list goes on.

But fictional TV, Cohen explained on his podcast (via EW), isn’t his natural habitat. It took a while to get his take, which involved him assisting Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) with shoe shopping. “I think the line in the script was just like, ‘Oh hey, Carrie, I’ll be with you in a sec,'” he explained. As simple as that line may sound, for Cohen, “Shooting these shows… is very difficult.”

“You have to literally walk four steps,...

Tim Burton's Batman Movies Return to Theaters With Significant Upgrades: 'Completely New Cinematic Experiences’
Image
Tim Burton’s take on Batmanis considered to be one of the best film versions of the iconic DC comic. Starring Michael Keaton as the titular Caped Crusader, Burton’s 1989 Batman won an Academy Award for Best Art Direction. The 1992 follow-up, Batman Returns, continued the story and featured the addition of Michelle Pfeiffer’s Catwoman and Danny DeVito’s take on Penguin.

Now, decades after Batman and Batman Returns were first released, the films are headed back to the big screen in a one-night-only event in a “completely new cinematic experience.” PerVariety, the two films are returning, exclusively at Dolby Cinema locations on Aug. 25. Batman and Batman Returns will be presented at more than 160 Dolby Cinema at AMC Theaters in the U.S. on that night.

Not only will fans be able to see Michael Keaton and company on the big screen, but the Aug. 25 event will mark the first...

‘And Just Like That’ Writers Address the Twice-Dead Dad Controversy — but Continuity Errors Aren’t New
Image
The writers and executives producers of “And Just Like That…” Julie Rottenberg and Elisa Zuritsky were not exactly expecting the audience reaction when Lisa Todd Wexley’s (Nicole Ari Parker) father died… for seemingly the second time. After all in the first season, Lisa literally said, “I was exactly the same when my father died last year.” In the current season, years later, her father (Billy Dee Williams) died again, and she attended the funeral. HBO quickly explained this time her real father died and before it was her stepfather, and Rottenberg and Zuritsky told THR that it was a sign of just how lower the viewers are.

“That was surprising to me,” Zuritsky said. “It’s the close viewing, but that comes back to the relationship that people have with the show.”

“You want close viewers,” Rottenberg added. “We know our viewers are smart and paying attention, and you want that.

Did ‘And Just Like That’ Kill Off Lisa’s Dad Twice? Plot ‘Mistake’ Explained
Image
For those who’ve watched And Just Like That since the very first episode, you probably did a double take when Lisa Todd Wexley’s (Nicole Ari Parker) father died in the July 3 episode… because he already died, right? Viewers immediately recalled Ltw talking about her dad’s death when Big (Chris Noth) died in the first season. While fans took to social media to call out what they thought was a continuity “mistake” made by the writers, the And Just Like That production team revealed that’s not the case whatsoever. There’s a simple explanation — and Lisa Todd’s dad definitely didn’t die twice. The team told The Hollywood Reporter that the deceased father Lisa Todd was talking about in Season 1 was her stepfather. “I was exactly the same when my father died last year,” Lisa told Charlotte (Kristin Davis) in the first season. Her biological father,...

‘And Just Like That’ Team Offers Up Explanation as to Why Character Was Seemingly Killed Off Twice
Image
HBO’s revival series And Just Like That has continued to hold on to a loyal fan base, mostly composed of die-hard Sex and the City fans.

The sequel show is currently airing its third season with original stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis returning as Carrie Bradshaw, Miranda Hobbes and Charlotte York-Goldenblatt, respectively, to the streets of New York. This time around, we see the women tackle life, love and friendship from the perspective of their 50s — though Kim Cattrall has declined to return as the iconic Samantha Jones.

Without Cattrall, Satc boss Michael Patrick King made the decision to welcome some newcomers into the fold, with Seema Patel (Sarita Choudhury) and Lisa Todd Wexley (Nicole Ari Parker) introduced to fill the Samantha-shaped hole.

And while not as critically renowned as the original series, And Just Like That has effectively covered myriad mid-life complications for the women,...

Oops! ‘And Just Like That’ Accidentally Killed Off Lisa’s Father Twice
Image
“And Just Like That … ” accidentally killed off Lisa Todd Wexley (Nicole Ari Parker)’s father not once but twice, and fans did not let the producers up on it.

The new addition to the girl group — and one of the several rotating Samantha replacements in the spinoff series — told Charlotte (Kristin Davis) in last week’s episode that her father passed away after suffering from a stroke.

In “Silent Mode,” written by Susan Fales-Hill, the documentary filmmaker mourned the unexpected offscreen death of her father. Lisa attended his funeral, after being invited via email, which she had a problem with. During her eulogy she said, “it seems as if my father was always there.”

Maybe he was, because just two seasons prior, fans were quick to point out that the character had already vented to Charlotte about the death of her father. In Season 1 Lisa made a side comment to...

‘And Just Like That’ Fans Point Out That Series Killed Off Nicole Ari Parker’s Character’s Father Twice Amid Plot Hole
Image
Updated: A source close to the series tells IndieWire that the deceased “dad” in Season 1 of “And Just Like That” is Lisa Todd Wexley’s stepfather.

Earlier: And just like that, a major continuity error in the HBO Max series of the same name has left fans scratching their heads.

On last week’s episode of “And Just Like That” Season 3, titled “Silent Mode” and written by Susan Fales-Hill, moneyed Park Avenue documentary filmmaker Lisa Todd Wexley (Nicole Ari Parker) was forced to mourn the unexpected offscreen death of her father (Billy Dee Williams). However, as some “Sex and the City” fans on social media observed, Lisa’s father had already died — in Season 1.

The episode “Silent Mode” showed Lisa attending her father’s funeral at a local theater — he was a stage actor — but as fans pointed out (see the TikTok below), Lisa told her friend Charlotte Goldenblatt (Kristin Davis...

And Just Like That season 3 episode 6 made two shocking mistakes (recap)
Image
This post contains spoilers from And Just Like That season 3 episode 6 from this point forward.

If you're an And Just Like That viewer who has caught up on the most recent episodes of season 3 and have been on the internet recently, then you're fully aware of the awkward, if not humorous, snafu the series has made. A character who was already six feet under was seemingly brought back from the dead just to be killed off again. Yes, this really happened.

And Just Like That season 3 episode 6 sees Lisa grieving her 90-year-old father's death from a fatal stroke. She spends much of the episode not only experiencing the grief of not having a chance to say goodbye but sparring with his girlfriend, played by Jenifer Lewis, over the funeral arrangements. In the end, Lisa doesn't get her way, but that's not what everyone's talking about.

Following Big's death in season...

Solo: A Star Wars Story isn’t as bad as you remember
Image
There’s a scene in Solo: A Star Wars Story—mid-train heist, snow flying, chaos erupting—where Han quite literally fumbles his way into being the hero. It’s clumsy and unexpectedly heartfelt, much like the movie itself.

Released in 2018 under the shadow of a very public director swap, Disney’s franchise fatigue, and the internet’s inability to let go of Harrison Ford, Solo never really had a fair shot. It grossed $393 million globally, making it the lowest-earning live-action Star Wars film, thus earning it the dreaded “flop” label.

However, box office numbers rarely tell the whole story. Solo isn’t actually a bad movie. In fact, it’s a lot more fun than most people give it credit for.

Solo hit theaters a mere five months after The Last Jedi, Rian Johnson’s film that split the fandom more violently than a lightsaber through a Praetorian Guard.

Remembering the day Star Trek legend William Shatner crooned "My Way" to Star Wars creator George Lucas
Image
Attendees at the 33rd annual American Film Institute Life Achievement Award ceremony honoring Star Wars creator George Lucas got a surprise from the final frontier when, of all people, William Shatner, Star Trek’s original Captain Kirk, arrived on stage to open the festivities. It happened on June 9, 2005, and it remains an indelible moment of entertainment galaxies colliding.

Shatner basked in the moment, giving a remarkably Shatner-ian performance. He hammed it up, smiled broadly, joked about his hair (comparing it to the honoree’s iconic follicles), and, yes, sang. Upon Shatner's introduction, the faces of Lucas, Harrison Ford, Steven Spielberg, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, and Chewbacca all expressed shock. Shatner then elicited chuckles with his opening line: “Star Trek changed everything.” He then cracked, “Aren’t these conventions wonderful?” And from there, after two stormtroopers nearly carried him off the stage, Shatner engaged in his signature talk-sing warbling, delivering a...

Billy Dee Williams Reflects On His Star Wars Character's Legacy 45 Years After The Empire Strikes Back
Image
Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back is celebrating its 45th anniversary. The film is widely considered to have changed cinema forever.

Billy Dee Williams, who played Lando Calrissian, recently reflected on his time with the franchise and has nothing but good memories. "Working on The Empire Strikes Back was like stepping into a dream - an adventure in every sense," he told the New York Post. "George Lucas, Irvin Kershner, and the entire team created a world so rich and real that it was impossible not to get swept away. I knew it was something special even then, but none of us could have predicted the lasting impact it would have."

The idea of an army of fans celebrating the 45th anniversary may have seemed unlikely when the film was released, but that's exactly what happened. According to Williams, the film resonated "because it's not just about...

I Can Not Imagine A$AP Rocky Doing Justice to Billy Dee Williams’ Legacy Like Donald Glover Did in ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’
Image
Billy Dee Williams has been in over a hundred movies for the last six decades, yet there is one role that stands out from the rest: Lando Calrissian. The Baron Administrator from the Star Wars franchise quickly became a fan favorite thanks to Billy Dee Williams’ unmatched charm. Thus, when it was announced that Donald Glover, aka Childish Gambino, would be taking over the character, there was some hesitation in the fandom.

Luckily, when Solo: A Star Wars Story came around, both critics and fans were pleasantly surprised to see Donald Glover absolutely nail the role and do justice to Billy Dee Williams’ legacy. However, did you know, another high-profile celebrity had auditioned for the role – A$AP Rocky. I’m not sure how I feel about this.

A$AP Rocky Auditioned to Play Lando Calrissian: ‘I Was Trash That Day’
Image
A$AP Rocky almost was part of the “Star Wars” franchise. The musician/actor told Variety that he auditioned to play Lando Calrissian, presumably for 2018 prequel film “Solo: A Star Wars Story.” Donald Glover, another rapper/actor, was cast instead.

“I auditioned for ‘Star Wars’ — for Lando — and my audition was trash. I was trash that day,” A$AP Rocky said. “My man Childish Gambino [Donald Glover] was a way better Lando than I would’ve provided at that time. And I think he looked a little more like [original actor Billy Dee Williams] than me.”

When asked if he would audition again for a “Star Wars” film, though, A$AP Rocky added, “Hell, yeah.”

A$AP Rocky is poised to have a breakout acting year with two A24 films: Spike Lee’s highly-anticipated “Highest 2 Lowest” and Sundance hit “If I Had Legs I’d Kick You,” a film that A$AP Rocky said...

'Lego Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy' Puts Ashley Eckstein and Ben Schwartz Together in 'Pieces of the Past'
Image
The animated Lego Star Wars series, Rebuild the Galaxy, is adding another two key pieces. At Star Wars Celebration in Tokyo, Japan, today, Lucasfilm announced that a new special is on its way: Rebuild the Galaxy: Pieces of the Past. The cast for that special will include an important part of Star Wars animation history, and a deep cut from the long history of Star Wars comic books. Ashley Eckstein will reprise her animated role of Ahsoka Tano (in Lego BrickHeadz form), and Ben Schwartz is expected to play the rascally alien rabbit Jaxxon.

The special will continue the story of the Rebuild the Galaxy miniseries, which centered around two nerf-herding brothers, Sig (Gaten Matarazzo) and Dev Greebling (Tony Revolori) who find an ancient artifact, the Cornerstone. Sig gets hurled into a Bizarro World version of the Star Wars universe, where Tattooine is a water world, Jar Jar Binks (Ahmed Best...

Unreleased Star Wars Comedy Acknowledged by Lucasfilm for the First Time in Over a Decade
Image
2025 marks the 20th anniversary of Lucasfilm Animation, and the company commemorated its anniversary with a new poster, which was unveiled at Star Wars Celebration in Shiba, Japan. While the poster mostly celebrates their successful projects, there's also a hidden reference to a Star Wars project that will probably never see the light of day. Star Wars: Detours, an animated comedy series from the Robot Chicken team, is referenced on the poster, making it the first time it's been officially acknowledged in years.

The poster features characters from all of Lucasfilm Animation's popular Star Wars series, from The Clone Wars to Rebels to Resistance, but appropriately enough for this weekend, there's a hidden Easter egg for one of the most obscure Star Wars animated series. If you look closely in the bottom right corner of the poster, you'll see a Stormtrooper with a giant head and comical goggle-eyes, taken directly from the long-lost animated series.

Star Wars: How Much It Would Cost To Build And Operate The Death Star
Image
The majority of the political ramifications that occur within the "Star Wars" universe during the Rise of the Empire era are based on the development, construction, operation, and destruction of the original Death Star. First introduced to audiences in 1977 in "Star Wars: A New Hope" (and chronologically through its schematics in "Star Wars: Attack of the Clones"), this space station and superweapon was the physical embodiment of the Empire's supremacy over the galaxy.

Naturally, the construction and operations of the Death Star would cost, well, an astronomical amount of money. As Dr. John Hammond (Richard Attenborough) from "Jurassic Park" would say, the Empire "spared no expense" regarding the superweapon that destroyed the planet Alderaan. But what would the actual budget for the space station be, vis-à-vis the Imperial credit-to-u.S. dollar conversion?

John Boyega is right about Star Wars fans
Image
I want to open this article by saying hi there! I'm white. I'm the textbook definition of "White Girl" with my family hailing from the UK and the Netherlands. I get sunburned through my office window. I am as white as they come. So now that's established:

John Boyega is right about racist Star Wars fans.

Via Entertainment Weekly, Boyega discussed his experience being cast as Finn in the sequel era and the immediate backlash for being a black man existing in a fake space movie. He said, "Lemme tell ya, Star Wars always had the vibe of being in the most whitest, elite space. It's a franchise that's so white that a Black person existing in it was something." He then added, "They're okay with us playing the best friend, but once we touch their heroes, once we lead, once we trailblaze, it's like, 'Oh my God, it's just a bit too much!

John Boyega Believes Black Actors Can Only Play Friends in Star Wars. I don’t agree.
Image
John Boyega, the actor who played Finn in Disney’s “Star Wars” sequel trilogy, recently said that he felt that “Star Wars” limited black actors to the “friend” characters. I do not believe this to be the case. Sure, Disney did do that, but many fans were upset that Boyega’s character wasn’t given a much larger role in the sequel trilogy.

Variety used a headline that indicates Boyega blamed the fans, but that isn’t exactly what he said.

During an interview in “Number One on the Call Sheet: Black Leading Men in Hollywood” on Apple TV+ John Boyega said,

“Lemme tell ya, ‘Star Wars’ always had the vibe of being in the most whitest, elite space. It’s a franchise that’s so white that a Black person existing in [it] was something. You can always tell it’s something when some ‘Star Wars’ fans try to say,...

'That's How I Got the Role': John Lithgow Reveals the Story Behind His Forgotten Yoda Performance in Star Wars Project
Image
Hollywood icon John Lithgow opens up about how he landed the role of Star Wars' Yoda more than forty years ago.

Speaking to Collider, Lithgow laid out the story of how he ended up portraying the voice of Yoda for 1983's Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back radio drama. Lithgow recalled being directed on Broadway in by John Madden, who was also directing the second entry in the Star Wars radio drama. "He had Billy Dee Williams and Anthony Daniels and Mark Hamill," Lithgow said, "But Frank Oz had chosen not to play Yoda because he was very doctrinaire about only using his voice when he used a puppet—not unlike Dave Crealy, I might add."

That's how I got the role of Yoda in the radio production.

"So John was pissing and moaning over lunch one day during a rehearsal break that he couldn't find a Yoda, and I said,...

John Lithgow Remembers Playing Yoda in 'Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back'
Image
Over the past 40 plus years, the Star Wars universe has played host to some phenomenal talent. Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford kicked off the franchise with A New Hope way back in 1977. Since then, Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman, Oscar Isaac, Samuel L. Jackson, and many more have all traveled to a galaxy far, far away for one of the various installments in the ever-expanding franchise. However, one actor you might have completely forgotten appeared in Star Wars is John Lithgow. Not only did the Third Rock From the Sun star become part of the Star Wars universe, he played none other than Master Yoda.

During an interview with Collider, Lithgow recalled his brief time playing Yoda in Star Wars. For those that don't know, Lithgow voiced Yoda in the radio dramatizations of The Empire Strikes Back. "I was acting in a play on Broadway directed by John Madden,...

Pierce Brosnan Had To Follow A Strange Rule Because Of His James Bond Movies
Image
Pierce Brosnan is a preposterously handsome man, and like most preposterously handsome men, he looks positively spectacular in just about any piece of clothing you can throw on him. A tuxedo is like a second layer of skin for Brosnan. He can rock a suede blazer with more verve than any other man on the planet. He could probably set hearts a-flutter in a clown suit.

Brosnan has been a men's fashion plate since "Remington Steele" turned him into a global superstar 43 years ago. He was the first choice to succeed Roger Moore as James Bond after "A View to a Kill," and only lost out on the role because NBC exercised its option on a fifth season of "Remington Steele" that no one wanted. Obviously, he eventually landed the role he was seemingly born to play, but while Brosnan was only ever perfect as Bond, the films around him tended to let him down.

Billy Dee Williams and Richard Pryor Battle French Drug Runners in This Unexpected, Underrated Thriller
Image
Out of many stars who headlined blaxploitation genre movies in the ‘70s, Billy Dee Williams and Richard Pryor were just a few enduring talents who managed to crossover into mainstream cinema. Williams had the Clark Gable-like heartthrob status that attracted female fans. Pryor was an edgy stand-up comedian who spoke the truth about the black experience in America. Both stars found themselves taking a unique performance turn in the 1973 thriller Hit!

Steven Soderbergh on How a Reality Ghost Story Show With Carrie Fisher Inspired His Newest Movie
Image
Oscar-winning director Steven Soderbergh took inspiration from a surprising source for his new horror/thriller, Presence, starring Lucy Liu and Chris Sullivan (This Is Us). The director, who was behind films like Ocean’s 11, Erin Brockovich, and Traffic, said the cable series Celebrity Ghost Stories, which premiered on the A&e network in 2009, influenced his newest film.

Per GamesRadar+, via SFX magazine, Soderbergh talked about how the reality series played a part in making Presence, which is shot entirely from the ghost’s perspective. Presence tells the story of a family convinced that they are not alone after moving into their new suburban home.

“One of my favorite shows is Celebrity Ghost Stories,” Soderbergh said. “You’ve got to see it! You can tell people were traumatized by these experiences - they’re not kidding around.” He explained, “What distinguished a lot of those stories was that they often didn’t...

George Lucas Tried To Get This Surprising Star Wars Actor Nominated For An Oscar
Image
The Star Wars franchise has been showered with accolades over the years, but the Academy Awards have continuously failed to recognize the actors that helped bring these iconic characters to life. The only actor to receive an Oscar nomination for their performance in a Star Wars film was Sir Alec Guinness, whose role as Obi-Wan Kenobi got him a Best Supporting Actor nomination for Star Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope. Most Star Wars fans would agree that Star Wars: Episode V- The Empire Strikes Back is the best installment in the series, and the film is filled with great performances from Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford, and Billy Dee Williams, among others. However, George Lucas lobbied for Frank Oz to receive a Best Supporting Actor nomination for his performance as Yoda in The Empire Strikes Back.

J.J. Abrams Signs New Deal With Warner Bros., Signaling the End of a Hollywood Era
Image
J.J. Abrams signed a deal with Warner Bros. that is smaller than his previous deal in 2019, signaling the end of the mega-deal in Hollywood.

J.J. Abrams, the creator of hit shows like Lost who has worked on big-name franchise films like Star Wars and Star Trek, has undoubtedly accomplished a lot in his career. However--according to Variety, Warner Bros., the studio he's been working for since 2006, have signed a new deal with him for quite a bit less than previous deals, described as "more modest." The deal Abrams signed in 2019 with Warner Bros. was a five-year pact to the tune of an estimated $500 million. The deal was written in such a way that allowed Abrams to use a significant pool of money to get other writers signed for their own deals. However, due to Abrams' production company, Bad Robot, failing to meet certain financial and output milestones, he won't...

Is F1 Driver Lando Norris Named After Star Wars’ Lando Calrissian? Here’s the Backstory
Image
Lando Norris doesn’t just zip around a Formula 1 track; he makes it look effortless, like he’s been driving race cars since he could walk. When he joined McLaren back in 2019, many had high hopes for the young driver. And while those hopes were never exactly dashed, the 2024 season was the year he made it clear he wasn’t just passing through—he was here for the long haul.

His win at the Miami Grand Prix was the kind of moment that F1 fans will replay on a loop for years to come. But Norris didn’t stop there. Victories in the Netherlands, Singapore, and Abu Dhabi followed, and by the time the season ended, he had claimed four wins.

10 One-Hit-Wonder Movie Directors
Image
A good director is one of the most reliable indicators that a movie will be worth watching, but there can also be surprises when a director creates just one truly great movie. It's often the case that a successful movie can be the beginning for a director, and they will go on to create more and more. This isn't always what happens, unfortunately, as there have been plenty of one-hit-wonder directors over the years.

Sometimes, a director simply captures lightning in a bottle for one outstanding movie, but they can't replicate the results on other projects. Other times, their one-hit-wonder status is due to factors beyond their control, like if they don't get given the right opportunities or if their projects keep hitting stumbling blocks. Some classic movies including King Kong, The Empire Strikes Back and Donnie Darko represent the only big hits of their director's careers.

‘Billy Preston: That’s the Way God Planned It’ Review: Eye-Opening Look at the Organ Prodigy Who Fused with the Beatles and Helped to Forge Funk
Image
Like a lot of people, I first saw Billy Preston in “Let It Be,” where his luscious electric-keyboard noodlings provided the sweet center to songs like “Don’t Let Me Down” and “Get Back.” But it wasn’t until “The Concert for Bangla Desh,” George Harrison’s trend-setting rock-concert movie from 1972, that I registered who Billy Preston really was. For most of that Madison Square Garden benefit concert, Preston was in the background, tickling those plugged-in ivories. But then, introduced by Harrison, he performed the single he’d recorded in 1969 for Apple Records, “That’s the Way God Planned It.” It stood out from the rest of the show as dramatically — and magnificently — as Sly Stone’s performance of “I Want to Take You Higher” did from Woodstock.

The sound of a holy organ rang out, and the camera zoomed in on a stylish-looking man in a big wool cap...

10 Romance Subplots That Ruined Otherwise Great Movies
Image
Many of the greatest films of all time feature romantic stories and subplots about characters falling in love that add a level of emotional depth and resonance that can really make a movie shine. But not every movie needs romance in order to work, and sometimes forcing a subplot about two characters falling in love can actually hinder a movie's story.

Movies that are otherwise entertaining can be pushed off their axis by forcing a romance between characters whose chemistry doesn't really gel. And when a romantic encounter between two characters feels inorganic, it can throw an entire film out of whack.

10 Movies That Beat Star Wars At The Box Office
Image
Star Wars has always been a box office juggernaut ever since it began in 1977, but even the legendary sci-fi franchise has faced competition from other blockbusters over the decades. Star Wars' inflation-adjusted box office earnings are staggeringly high: only two of the 12 theatrically-released films fall below $1 billion when adjusted for inflation. Most Star Wars movies became the highest-grossing films for the year they were released, and absolutely blew their competition out of the water. There were some entries to the saga that were outperformed, however, and even the high earners had competition to deal with.

There are quite a few ingredients in the recipe for box office success. Making an entertaining movie is the most important aspect, but things like marketing, target audiences, and release dates are also important. Sometimes, picking the wrong release date can put a movie in direct competition with another film and end up hurting both,...

This White Collar Season 2 Neal Detail Is Too Good Not To Be Brought Back In The Revival
Image
One particular detail from season 2 of White Collar is too good not to be brought back for Neal Caffrey's (Matt Bomer) storyline in the revival. Though updates on the White Collar revival have been steadily arriving ever since its announcement, the main conflict and story arcs have yet to be disclosed for White Collar: Renaissance. Many years have passed since Neal Caffrey and Peter Burke (Tim DeKay) solved white-collar crimes together, and that distance has already allowed for many changes to occur in their lives.

White Collar season 6 ended with both the birth of Peter's son and the reveal that Neal was still alive and well in Paris. The revival will hopefully focus on how those circumstances have changed their outlooks, especially after all of their adventures together shifted many of their iron-clad truths. One particular way to highlight those changes comes from a specific episode of the show's original run and went unresolved,...

Batman: Resurrection Brings A Classic DC Comics Villain Into Tim Burton's Batman Universe
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

There will be spoilers for "Batman: Resurrection" in this article.

One of the great tragedies of the Michael Keaton and Tim Burton collaboration on "Batman" was that it didn't last long enough. We only saw a few of the great villains and characters from the Batman rogues' gallery represented, with some hints of what might have come if the franchise continued under Burton's eye. We were robbed of a great Billy Dee Williams performance as Two-Face, which would have been legendary as his take on Harvey Dent was grounded and fascinating (though he would end up reprising the role in "The Lego Batman Movie").

Tim Burton's take on the Penguin -- played by Danny DeVito -- was so far outside of what we might have expected that it was a revelation. Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman was legendary, and Jack Nicholson...

The Jeffersons, a spinoff of the smash hit show All in the Family, ran from 1975 to 1985 and followed an African American couple (played by Isabel Sanford and Sherman Hemsley) who move to a luxury high-rise apartment on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, and adjust to their newfound affluence after being raised in a working-class neighborhood in Queens. 10 episodes of NCIS to watch before NCIS: Origins and why
Image
NCIS: Origins is debuting, so here are some classic NCIS episodes to watch to get ready for it!

NCIS fans have long been missing Agent Jethro Gibbs. The heart of the series since it debuted as a backdoor pilot on Jag, Gibbs was loved for his stern demeanor, dedication to his job, sometimes wry humor and tragic backstory of losing a wife and child. Mark Harmon made the character beloved, so it was a shock when Gibbs opened Season 19 by quitting to retire to Alaska.

Fortunately, Harmon will be returning to the franchise in a unique way. NCIS: Origins takes us back to 1993 with Austin Stowell playing a younger Gibbs joining the agency and how he became the agent we know. It looks to be an intriguing spin on the franchise and to prepare for it, these episodes are must-watch to see what parts of Gibbs' life can come to play.

Star Wars and the dark side of YouTube
Image
Whenever I discover that someone is a Star Wars fan, I enjoy talking about the franchise because it's fun. It's fun to debate. It's fun to sit down and discuss how much we love certain characters or scenes from the films or series. However, this has begun to take a dark turn.

Many people who comment on the franchise, particularly on YouTube, have been more critical than complimentary of what has been produced since Disney took over the franchise. Nothing, though, has changed since George Lucas sold the company to the studio in 2012.

Star Wars is universal and is still a modern mythology, exploring basic ideas of good versus evil.

The diversity and depth of casting have changed since the original trilogy was produced in the 1970s and 1980s. Many on YouTube have been upset by this. However, many young women relate to characters such as Rey and Osha as...
