Last Week Tonight‘s John Oliver piled on Dean Cain during his telecast after the actor announced earlier this week he would be joining Ice.
“You know, there’s an old saying in Hollywood: ‘If all you can get is Dean Cain, you are f—ed,'” Oliver said during the program, which largely covered immigration enforcement and president Donald Trump’s mass deportation promise.
“Now, I’m not saying that Ice isn’t finding people,” he continued. “I’m just saying, when you are reduced to pinning a badge on the 59-year-old star of The Dog Who Saved Christmas, The Dog Who Saved Christmas Vacation, The Dog Who Saved the Holidays, The Dog Who Saved Halloween, The Dog Who Saved Easter and The Dog Who Saved Summer, maybe you are in trouble. John Leguizamo condemned Dean Cain’s decision to align with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, posting an Instagram video Friday that called the former “Superman” actor a “loser” and a “moron,” and jabbing that Cain’s “pronouns are has/been.” The remarks spread quickly across entertainment media after the clip was shared, including by Deadline.
Cain announced this week that, after conversations with agency officials, he would “be sworn in as an Ice agent Asap,” and encouraged others to join. He framed the move as an act of public service and urged supporters to help meet hiring targets. The declaration landed amid a sweeping federal recruitment campaign that lifted age caps for applicants and advertised incentives such as signing bonuses up to $50,000 and student-loan relief.
A key detail emerged later: a Department of Homeland Security spokesperson said Cain will be sworn in as an honorary Ice officer, with specific duties not disclosed.

During World War II, the United States launched a powerful military recruiting and war bonds campaign titled “Don’t Let That Shadow Touch Them.” Featuring haunting images of children overshadowed by a looming swastika, it warned Americans of the grave threat fascism posed to the nation’s safety and future. Today, the picture is disturbingly different. Maga is working to make fascism cool, joking about Ice’s brutal deportation tactics as washed-up celebrities like Dean Cain glorify the idea of snatching children and families off the streets of America.

On the Friday, Aug. 8 episode of Real Time With Bill Maher, the late-night host, 69, didn’t hold back with his thoughts on the 59-year-old actor signing up to be part of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. “Ice going around there with their masks, throwing people into vans—not popular. No one invites controversy quite like Matt Stone and Trey Parker. The "South Park" creators have stirred up all kinds of trouble throughout the show's staggering 26 season run, but the pair really pushed the envelope just a few weeks ago with the arrival of their latest season. The long-awaited season 27 premiere not only lampooned their parent company Paramount in the wake of a $1.5 billion deal to keep "South Park" on the air for another five years, but it also took ruthless jabs at the Trump administration. "Sermon on the 'Mount" depicted President Donald J. Trump as a loudmouthed annoyance who speaks in the same ridiculous cadence Stone used for Saddam Hussein in "South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut." Animated using actual pictures of Trump (including his infamous mugshot), the show's depiction of the "Home Alone 2: Lost in New York" actor constantly threatens to sue everybody who disagrees with him.

Actor, film producer, and singer Kelsey Grammer has had a lot of fans questioning one major thing about his political stance: Is he a Republican? Turns out, he is, considering how the 70-year-old star has been a longtime supporter of the right-wing US Republican Party.
Back in 2011, he endorsed the Tea Party movement on economic issues like small government and lower taxes while talking to Piers Morgan, saying (via CNN):

Not to mention, even City A.M. described the Frasier star as “one of Hollywood’s best-known Republicans, a rare spark of red in a blue sea of Democrats.

Former Superman actor Dean Cain announced his plan to join the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, popularly known as Ice. In his interview via BBC, he said: “I will be sworn in as an Ice agent asap.”
Fans will remember him from the 1993 Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman series, which ran for four seasons.
While he has shown support for Donald Trump’s Ice and its mission to implement deportation rules across the country, he’s not the first one in line. Other comic book movie actors previously endorsed Trump and his plans for America.

“I put out a recruitment video yesterday — I’m actually a sworn deputy sheriff and a reserve police officer — I wasn’t part of Ice, but once I put that out there and you put a little blurb on your show, it went crazy,” he told host Jesse Watters. “So now I’ve spoken with some officials over at Ice, and I will be sworn in as an Ice agent, Asap.”

Who’s your definitive Superman? Is it George Reeves in his strongman leotard? Maybe it’s Henry Cavill, playing the most Superman-looking Superman I’ve ever seen. Or perhaps it’s the wholesome farm boy Clark Kent, played by Tom Welling on Smallville. Whoever your favourite is, today we’re celebrating every major live-action take on the Man of Steel, across both big and small screens. We recently published an article on cinematic portrayals, but now we’ve decided to take a bigger swing. We’ve rounded up nine major portrayals, and we’re ranking them based not on the movies or shows they were in, but purely on the performance and depiction of Superman himself. That’s right—this is about the actors and how well they embodied the character.

In her 2023 memoir Love, Pamela, Pamela Anderson made a shocking revelation that her then-boyfriend Kid Rock lost it during the Borat premiere after realizing she was in the film and called her a wh*re. Well, the surprise didn’t land well. She wrote (via Variety),
I didn’t tell Bob I was in the movie, because I wanted to surprise him. I forgot about the part in the film that referenced the s*x tape. Bob stormed out, calling me a wh*re and worse.
Of course, the fallout was ugly and fast. He peeled away in his car, leaving her stranded, only to later destroy a framed photo at home, mistaking Marilyn Monroe for her. While their relationship was already on the verge of cohabitation imploding that night, Anderson has now made her Hollywood comeback in full swing with The Naked Gun reboot.

Dean Cain has given the entertainment industry his all, with roles in projects like ‘Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman’ and ‘Hit the Floor’. He was also in the news for his relationship with Pamela Anderson, but that didn’t last very long. Turns out, he wasn’t the “rock star” she was looking for.
The former couple began their romantic rendezvous in 1993 after Anderson shot to fame with ‘Baywatch‘. However, six months later, they decided that they were better off without each other.
In a recent interview with Variety, Cain opened up about the short-lived relationship and what went wrong. He stated, “That candle burned hot and short”, before adding, “She wanted to be with the rock-star kind of guy, and that’s not me.”
Despite the breakup, Cain has no ill feelings towards the actress, claiming that he has “only fond memories of her.”

Loads of Family Guy jokes haven’t aged well over the years. In fact, some might argue that certain jokes aged terribly before they ever made it to the air. But one brief gag about a certain ex-tv star continues to be more relevant than ever.
No, not the one about Bob Ross threatening to murder people.
As we’ve mentioned before, now that there’s a new Superman movie, a lot of news outlets have been speaking with ex-Man of Steel Dean Cain. The star of TV’s Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman recently told TMZ that the character had gone “woke,” complaining Superman no longer brags about enforcing the “American way” while also arguing that the 2025 Superman shouldn’t have used the familiar superhero story as an allegory for immigration.

Pamela Anderson is the embodiment of Hollywood’s ‘bombshell’ trope. Soon after she got cast in Baywatch, the actress became one of the biggest names in the industry, turning heads and becoming a household name. Despite this, all she seemed to be known for was her physical characteristics, being nothing more than a s*x object in the eyes of her viewers.
This was not happenstance, as Baywatch very intentionally objectified the actress to the point of no return. However, it wasn’t the only series to do so, since it almost became a trend to s*xualize Anderson. In fact, five other shows collectively created her allure and refused to allow the world to see her talent. They each had their individual role to play, and they are as follows.

Known as one of the ‘Sex Symbols’ of the ’90s, actor Dean Cain remembers the time a fan made a racist comment towards him after he was announced to play Superman in Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. In an interview with Variety, he recalls this interaction, saying:

Being of half-Japanese descent, this comment was mean-spirited, but Cain paid it no mind back then. But now, with his political affiliation with President Donald Trump, many anti-Trump people have let their sentiments be known about how they are disappointed in him.

Dean Cain is looking back on his whirlwind romance with Baywatch actress Pamela Anderson. In his interview with Variety, the actor did not sugarcoat anything and spoke about how their involvement was intense but short-lived.
Cain is best known for playing Superman in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. Although he had only positive things to say about Anderson, he also revealed that she wanted something that didn’t exactly match his persona.
She wanted to be with the rock-star kind of guy, and that’s not me.
As Anderson stars in the reboot of The Naked Gun alongside Liam Neeson, Cain’s words have fans doing a double-take at their past connection.

The 58-year-old actor is best known for playing Superman in the 90s television series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman.
Dean also starred in the movie The Broken Hearts Club, playing a gay role in Greg Berlanti‘s directorial debut.
“People don’t realize that in 1999 when we were making it, straight actors did not want to play gay, and they were all advised not to, especially if they were a heartthrob. It was daring,” Greg told Variety in a new interview.
Dean added, “I played gay in two films, and I loved it.”

Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman star Dean Cain has become a divisive figure in recent years, and when the Maga contingent came for Superman following James Gunn's immigrant comments, he was first in line to tear into the "woke" reboot.
Talking to Variety, the actor was a little more level-headed and admitted that, "Seeing Krypto in the trailer gave me goose bumps. He saves a squirrel. He saves a little girl. I respect that."
It's unclear whether the actor has actually sat down to watch Superman, though he doesn't sound overly enthused by some of the creative decisions made in Gunn's first DC Studios movie.
"James Gunn and his decision to make Ma and Pa Kent the stupid rednecks. That’s a choice," Cain pondered. "And Superman has to be saved, like, repeatedly? On a movie this size, every decision is a choice made carefully.

Dean Cain is about to pull off a lightning-fast costume change that would impress even Superman. Standing in front of an infinity pool overlooking a golf course and the Las Vegas Strip in the distance, the actor is wearing a faded gray T-shirt, gym shorts and no shoes. A Greek Orthodox cross and a military dog tag hang from a chain around his neck. The man who played the Man of Steel and his alter ego, Clark Kent, on the trailblazing series “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman” needs to morph into something camera ready.
“I’m gonna have to go put on a jacket and a shirt and leave my shorts behind,” he says as he pops a tangerine-flavored nicotine lozenge in his mouth and heads upstairs for a Zoom appearance on “Piers Morgan Uncensored” to discuss the latest “Superman,” two days before it unspools in theaters.

Following comments that Superman is an immigrant and “the story of America,” director James Gunn has come under fire from a certain section of the political divide, many of whom have accused the Man of Steel, a character defined by his kindness and desire to do good, as too “woke.” Now, Gunn himself has responded to this “accusation,” with the filmmaker left a little confused about this predominantly right-wing interpretation.
Speaking with EW recently, Gunn reveals that he has “heard people say it was woke,” but has heard just as many saying “it's not.” The word “woke” has now been contorted into something so far from its original meaning that it’s largely meaningless at this point, but certain commentators continue to use it to criticize whatever they don’t like at the time. For Gunn, though, Superman rises above all this to be a story about kindness. No doubt,...

James Gunn recently spoke with Entertainment Weekly about the surprising backlash his movie “Superman” faced before it even hit theaters. Some conservative outlets, including Fox News, called the film “SuperWoke” after Gunn described Superman as an “immigrant” and said the character’s story is really “the story of America.” Gunn said he’s still a bit puzzled by the criticism.
He explained, “I’ve heard people say it was woke, and then I’ve heard a lot of people say it’s not. I am curious as to what in the movie is considered woke.”
Gunn shared that his comments were based on what the Times of London reporter told him, that Superman’s creators, Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, were sons of immigrants and made the character as an immigrant story.
Gunn added, “And I said, yeah, it’s a story about an immigrant, but mostly it’s a story to me about kindness,...

Superman is flying high at the domestic box office, where’s it’s up to $235 million after two weekends. Internationally, however, the movie is behind at $171 million, something writer/director James Gunn has chalked up to a combination of factors — including “anti-American sentiment.”

It isn’t really helping us.”
Still, Superman’s global box office is growing, and is performing particularly well in places like Brazil and the UK. “So I think it’s just a matter of letting something grow. But again, for us, everything’s been a total win,” Gunn said Having the movie come out and be...

James Gunn stepped into some hot water with fans when he chose to recast Superman for his new DC Studios relaunch. While Henry Cavill’s performance as the Man of Steel was widely appreciated—despite the films themselves being divisive—Gunn’s decision to move in a new direction raised eyebrows. That said, his choice of David Corenswet to don the cape has largely paid off. Corenswet has earned praise from both fans and critics, potentially setting the stage for a long run in the new Dcu.
But where does Corenswet rank among the big-screen Supermen? Our own Tyler Nichols placed him as runner-up to the perennial favorite, Christopher Reeve. Now, it’s time to turn the question over to you, the readers.

Superman is back! Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster’s 1938 comic book creation has been in the headlines a lot again lately, and not just because James Gunn’s Superman (2025), starring David Corenswet, is dominating the box office worldwide. Corenswet has called Smallville‘s Tom Welling his favorite Superman and also praised Christopher Reeve’s iconic performance in the original films when speaking with his son, Will Reeve (who also appeared in the new film). The actor also revealed he received special letters/notes from Man of Steel‘s Henry Cavill and Superman & Lois‘ Tyler Hoechlin as he stepped into the role. Dean Cain’s showbiz career hasn’t leapt over tall buildings in a single bound since the end of Lois & Clark, the Superman TV show that made him a star. The new “Superman” movie has only been out for a few days, but it’s already causing a lot of online arguments. The film is doing great at the box office, but people are divided about what the story really means.
Some say it’s about the Israel-Palestine conflict, while others think that’s not true. James Gunn, the director, insists the movie isn’t about the Middle East, but the debate just keeps growing.
Even before the movie came out, it faced criticism from right-wing groups, including the Maga movement. This started after Gunn called Superman an immigrant. This upset some conservatives, and Fox News even called the movie “SuperWoke.”
Now that the movie is in theaters, a new controversy has taken center stage. The story is about two made-up countries called Boravia and Jarhanpur. Boravia says it wants to “free” the people of Jarhanpur, but there’s no real proof of that.
