Mariah Carey famously operates in her own orbit, so it’s hardly shocking that she only recently learned about Katy Perry’s brief flight into space.
Despite the widespread coverage of Perry’s 11-minute sub-orbital mission aboard Blue Origin, Carey seemed stupefied when asked in a BBC interview if she’d ever like to follow in Katy’s lead.

“Did she go to space? Where did she go?” Carey responded, before being informed of more details. “She’s like floating in the… and this is true? Wow. All right, Katy… I’m not mad at her, that’s pretty amazing.”

The nominees for the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards are out in the open. Lady Gaga leads the pack with 12 nominations, followed by her "Die With a Smile” collaborator, Bruno Mars, who scored 11 nominations. Kendrick Lamar is the third most-nominated artist, with 10 nods, while "Apt." singer Rosé receives eight nods, alongside Sabrina Carpenter. This year's ceremony will take place on Sunday, September 7, at Long Island’s Ubs Arena, marking the second consecutive year the venue will host the event.
This isn't the first time Gaga, who has won a total of 18 VMAs so far, has scored the most nominations at the VMAs. This year, the “Abracadabra” singer is nominated for Artist of the Year, Best Album, and several others. Her nominations are largely driven by “Abracadabra” and “Die With a Smile.” Gaga’s duet partner, Mars, has a strong shot at winning in four major categories, thanks to his collaboration with Rosé for "Apt." and Gaga,...

The Beatles have had the most No. 1 hits ever with 20 different chart-toppers. The pair divided and conquered, racking up the most nominations between two songs each. Both "Die with a Smile" and Mar's collab with Rosé, "Apt.," received noms for Video and Song of the Year, while Gaga's "Abracadabra" cleaned up in technical categories.

When Ozzy Osbourne brought Metallica on tour in 1986, he noticed his young opening act blasting Black Sabbath in their dressing room and covering his old band’s songs in soundchecks. Osbourne’s first assumption, he said later, was that Metallica were mocking him. He was stunned to learn they were actually displaying their hero worship, and trying to coax him onstage with them.
As discussed in the new episode of Rolling Stone Music Now, Osbourne — who died July 22 at the age of 76 — could be touchingly insecure for a beloved and wildly influential metal legend.

Listen, we know it’s the middle of summer. We know there are still five months to Christmas, four to Thanksgiving, three to Halloween, and probably about two and a half before everyone starts debating when it’s appropriate to start listening to Mariah Carey underneath the mistletoe. But if we were to just let ourselves, right now, enjoy the spirit of giving and sense of good cheer that characterize the last few weeks of every year, would we really be any worse off? Those things are always in season — evergreen, if you will.
So get in the spirit and bring Christmas to July with a pleasantly unseasonal stream. Cue up a horror film that looks to the dark side of the holidays, a trio of rom-coms that deliver joy to any time of year, or a contest that tastes like December. Merry streaming!

Mariah Carey is gearing up to release her 16th album, but this is no Christmas miracle. The songstress, who is typically known for her holiday cheer, is instead releasing her new album, “Here For It All,” in September. Carey announced the new album on her personal Instagram, teasing a short clip of the new track that the album was named for. According to Variety, this is not the first hint of what is to come. The Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame inductee also released another track, “Type Dangerous,” earlier in June.
Carey is still keeping the details of the album under wraps, but Variety has also reported that another track will be entitled “Sugar Sweet.” These songs do not appear to be thematically in line with her previous fare, but fans should be excited all the same. The singer has made a name for herself with Christmas-themed songs and...

Sabrina Carpenter is as good as any current pop star at cultivating controversy and attention — the latest evidence was the now-subsided furor over her absurd Man’s Best Friend album cover, which seems to take cues from Spinal Tap’s Smell the Glove. “She’s leaning into it and laughing about it at the same time,” says Angie Martoccio, who profiled Carpenter for her recent Rolling Stone cover story — which revealed that image aside, the singer’s true obsession is music.

Mariah Carey shut down a nosy paparazzo in Malibu after getting hit with a random question about Jeff Bezos’ over-the-top wedding in Italy.
The Mariah Carey moment happened earlier this week when she was out strolling with her crew in Malibu and got ambushed by a photographer who clearly thought they were slick.
The dude asked her, “What did you think about Jeff Bezos’s wedding?” and without missing a beat, Mariah hit him with a dry, “I wasn’t there.”
But the pap didn’t stop there. He pushed again, asking, “Were you not invited or what?” That’s when Mariah clapped back with a sharp, “Oh, don’t turn this into that.
The clip, which popped up on TikTok via the Paparazzi Videos account, instantly blew up.
Social media went wild, with folks comparing it to her legendary “I don’t know her” moment from 2003 when she shaded Jennifer Lopez without even blinking.

Barbra Streisand has released a new behind-the-scenes video of her collaboration with Ariana Grande and Mariah Carey for their recording of “One Heart, One Voice." The song, sung by the three artists, is featured on Streisand's album, “The Secret Of Life: Partners, Volume Two," which was released last week. "When the idea of recording a song with Mariah and Ariana was first suggested, it felt inevitable that it would address female empowerment," Streisand explains in the video. Carey notes that it was a "huge honor" to sing with the music icon on the track. "Barbra has, quite literally, always been a part of my life," Grande shares. "I went to go see Barbra with my mom, and we made it into the concert DVD somehow!...

What if Bruce Springsteen had followed up his synth-and-drum-machine-driven 1994 hit “Streets of Philadelphia” with a whole album largely in that vein? What if he’d dropped an album of Great American Songbook-style ballads instead of 2017’s Western Stars? Springsteen’s just-released boxed set Tracks II: The Lost Albums is packed with seven albums’ worth of alternate realities and musical surprises, offering a reminder of just how much he’s capable of outside of his stadium-shaking work with the E Street Band.

Another Meet the Parents 4 return from a previous star, now 83 years old, is possible, but only if one condition is met. A fourth film in the series is officially in development with John Hamburg, who co-wrote the first three films, set to both write and direct the project. Meet the Parents 4 will feature the return of Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro, Blythe Danner, Teri Polo, and Owen Wilson, with Ariana Grande also joining the cast in her first role since Wicked.
During a recent interview with Variety, Barbra Streisand addressed a possible return in Meet the Parents 4. The star says she would only consider returning if she were paid significantly more, as she was underpaid compared to her male co-stars in earlier films. She highlighted the pay disparity for women at the time, though she appreciated a bonus check from Universal's then-head, Ron Meyer. Read her...

After multiple editing delays, Mariah Carey has finally dropped the music video for “Type Dangerous,” her first original solo song since 2019’s “In the Mix,” the theme song to the short-lived ABC sitcom Mixed-Ish. The video for the new single was directed by Joseph Kahn, who previously worked with Carey on her videos for 2003’s “Boy (I Need You)” and 2013’s “#Beautiful.”
Co-produced by Anderson Paak and based around a sample from Eric B. & Rakim’s debut single, “Eric B. Is President,” from 1987, “Type Dangerous” is a midtempo R&b track that finds Carey shading her past lovers, including Tommy Mottola, whom she divorced in the late 1990s and not-so-diplomatically refers to as “an evil king” in the lyrics. The song is the singer’s first solo Top 10 hit on the R&b chart since 2008’s “Touch My Body.”
