One of the most common tropes in modern television is that of the medical dramedy, and very few can match the success and impact of the USA Network's Scrubs. It is, however, expected that other shows could attempt to replace it in the subconscious of the audience and that is what Fox's upcoming medical comedy, Best Medicine, hopes to achieve. The upcoming show follows a doctor from Boston, who moves to a small practice in an east coast fishing village where he vacationed as a child. According to Variety, the series has added the exciting talent of Cree Chiccino, also known as Cree, to its cast. The Turtles All The Way Down star will play the role of Elaine Denham, a character described as "adorable, energetic, and ambitious, with enormous dreams," who harbors ambitions of becoming a YouTube star.

Fox’s upcoming medical comedy “Best Medicine” has added Cree in a series regular role, Variety has learned exclusively.
The actress joins previously announced series stars Josh Charles, Abigail Spencer, Annie Potts, and Josh Segarra. The one-hour show was originally announced in May and serves as an American adaptation of the popular British series “Doc Martin.”
The official description of the show states:
“The series centers on Martin Best (Charles), a brilliant surgeon who abruptly leaves his illustrious career in Boston to become the general practitioner in a quaint East Coast fishing village where he spent summers as a child. Unfortunately, Martin’s blunt and borderline rude bedside manner rubs the quirky, needy locals the wrong way, especially local school teacher Louisa Glasson (Spencer), however tenacity is the creed of everyone in their small village, and the people who live there may be exactly what the doctor ordered.”
Cree will play Elaine Denham.

New casting information has been revealed about the upcoming Fox medical comedy Best Medicine, with a Young Sheldon alum joining the cast. Deadline reports that Annie Potts has been cast in Fox's Best Medicine. More recently known for playing Meemaw in Young Sheldon and its spinoff Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage on CBS, Potts joins the already-announced Best Medicine cast of Josh Charles, Abigail Spencer, and Josh Segarra.
Based on the UK series Doc Martin, Best Medicine received a straight-to-series order and is a co-production of Fox and Warner Bros. TV. The medical comedy will likely diversify TV’s medical series scene, which is seeing a resurgence.
Potts will reportedly play the character of Charles' Martin Best's aunt, Joan, a no-nonsense lobster woman with a good heart underneath her stern demeanor. Described as “loyal but stubborn,” Aunt Joan will likely be a fixture of the East Coast fishing village Martin finds...

Josh Charles is set to star as the lead doctor, and the cast also includes Abigail Spencer and Josh Segarra. Annie Potts is the latest addition, on Thursday, July 10. Unlike Doc, a one-hour drama — and Fox’s previous medical hit The Resident — this is a one-hour comedy. “Comedy isn’t one genre for us. We don’t just look at it as like half-hour live-action comedy,” Michael Thorn, President, Fox Television Network, Fox Entertainment, said to reporters on Sunday, May 11. “We look at it as animation, of course comedy, but we look at it like with a one-hour comedy like Best Medicine. If you’ve been following along, you already know we’ve run the emotional gamut when it comes to the upcoming fall and midseason television slates.
Yes, we’re frustrated that NBC is sacrificing much of its scripted primetime to basketball and that reality TV is swallowing up most of the letter networks. And sure, some viewers may be torn about having to wait until midseason for their favorite series to return.
But it’s not all bleak out here in the wild. There are glimmers of hope and excitement we can cling to here and there as well. Contrary to some belief, we’re not all doom and gloom here!

While Fox dedicates a lot of time to reality and variety shows in the upcoming season, they also smartly place their biggest breakout hits front and center.

Best Medicine, Fox's upcoming medical comedy poised to rival NBC's breakout hit St. Denis Medical, has added a key component to its cast. Deadline reports that Abigail Spencer has joined the cast as co-lead alongside the previously cast Josh Charles. Spencer will play Louisa, a caring and charming teacher who initially gets off on the wrong foot with Charles' Martin Best.
The one-hour comedy is an American remake of the 10-season British show Doc Martin. Yvonne Strahovski carefully navigated the dark and the light as Serena Joy in Hulu’s critically acclaimed dystopian drama The Handmaid’s Tale across six seasons, but it was when she was firmly between these realities that the Australian actress shone the brightest.
Much like Serena being pulled in two directions simultaneously, the fans often found themselves in a similar position. Do they hate this character because of her beliefs, or was she deserving of redemption? On one hand, Serena was part of this world where women were considered less than second-class citizens, and those that were fertile were used by married Gilead couples as incubators for children that were a product of rape, amid a fertility crisis. Not only did Serena support and encourage this lifestyle for her community, but she also practiced it herself.

Fox has canceled its drama series Alert: Missing Persons Unit and The Cleaning Lady.
The decision comes shortly after the two shows wrapped their 2024-25 seasons: Alert aired its last episode on May 27, and The Cleaning Lady finished up on June 3. They end their runs on Fox after three and four seasons.
The cancellations are not a big surprise, as Alert and The Cleaning Lady were at the lower end of Fox’s ratings for the season. In seven-day linear ratings (not including streaming), Alert averaged 2.16 million viewers and The Cleaning Lady, 1.68 million, well below the totals for renewed dramas Doc (4.6 million) and Murder in a Small Town (3.15 million). Fox also canceled first-year drama Rescue: Hi-Surf in May.
With the cancellations, Fox has just two shows still awaiting word on their futures. Animated series The Great North is running through the summer, and the network probably won’t make a decision for a while.

Fresh off the series finale, The Handmaid’s Tale cast and creatives gathered Wednesday at the Directors Guild of America in Los Angeles to reflect on the Emmy-winning show’s full-circle moments — and to reveal a surprise guest.
Calling the final scenes of the six-season series “a very meta experience to film,” star, director, and executive producer Elisabeth Moss described the moment her character, June Osborne, walks through the ruins of the Waterfords’ home and reflects on her past as a handmaid, known as Offred, in the Boston household.
“It was a really beautiful experience, because we had a closed set just to keep it really nice and calm,” said Moss, who directed four episodes this season, including the finale, during the FYC event. “Every single member of this crew took it upon themselves that this was going to be...

Blessed be the Emmys rulebook, but it needs some serious updating.
With “The Handmaid’s Tale” having taken its final bow, Hulu has confirmed its official Emmy submissions for the critically acclaimed drama, with one entry in particular already causing waves.
Variety has learned exclusively that the streamer has submitted Alexis Bledel in the guest drama actress category for her appearance in the series finale (“610 – The Handmaid’s Tale”), despite a newly enforced Emmy rule disqualifying actors who have been previously nominated in a lead or supporting category for the same show. Bledel won the Emmy for guest in 2017, and garnered two additional noms in the same category in 2020 and 2021. However, in 2018, after appearing in seven of the 13 episodes for a season, she was ineligible to compete as a guest; she was submitted and eventually nominated for supporting drama actress. The one-year recognition for her character, Ofglen, appears to fall outside the bounds of eligibility,...

The sun has set on Gilead. For now.
After six seasons, Hulu’s critically acclaimed series “The Handmaid’s Tale” has reached its endpoint, which is really more of a pause until the story picks up again in spinoff series “The Testaments.” And that’s what it felt like as June Osborne narrated the eponymous final episode, summing up the surviving characters’ next steps.
Not an end. Just a breather.
O-t Fagbenle and Elisabeth Moss in “The Handmaid’s Tale.” (Disney/Steve Wilkie)
Obviously, with a spinoff in the works, it was never an option to end “The Handmaid’s Tale” with the fall of Gilead. The finale was always going to be open-ended, allowing for Gilead to come back bigger and badder than ever in “The Testaments.” And while it’s a foregone conclusion that the spinoff will build on the original,...

Spoiler Alert: The following reveals major plot points from the series finale of Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale.
Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale concluded its run tonight after 8 years and 6 seasons, following June Osbourne (Elisabeth Moss) in her fight to rid the world of evil.
While there were wins for the rebellion, Gilead lives on with many of June’s strongest allies trapped there at the start of the episode, like Aunt Lydia (Ann Dowd) and Janine (Madeline Brewer). Her beloved daughter Hannah isn’t free, but she learns she will be closer to her.
In an early scene in the episode, June reconnects with Serena (Yvonne Strahovski) and her baby boy, Noah. These women have come a long way from the mortal enemies they were throughout most of the early seasons. June was Serena’s former handmaid, and there’s no way they could ever be friends, but by the end,...

The Handmaid’s Tale‘s creator Bruce Miller always knew how he was going to end the series. A key location detail changed along the way and he didn’t know how many seasons it would take to get there, or that Margaret Atwood would write a sequel novel in 2019. But he knew that when the show reached its ending, June’s story would circle back to where it began, but with new perspective.
“This is definitely not a story where you get what you want most of the time — or where June gets what she wants. It’s a story about how to live with the things you can’t get,” Miller explains to The Hollywood Reporter about the series finale.

Heading up to its finale, The Handmaid's Tale has some fans thinking that a certain pop star was hidden in the penultimate episode as part of a fun Easter egg. However, series star Elisabeth Moss has firmly shut down the fan theory.
In the latest episode of The Handmaid's Tale, the opening moments were set to the Taylor Swift song, "Look What You Made Me Do (Taylor's Version)." At one point in the same episode, June (Moss) and others are walking towards trucks with the members of the Mayday rebellion climbing out to greet them. The last of the group is noticeably taller than the others, but this person's face wasn't shown. This led to a popular fan theory that this was Swift stealthily making a cameo, but when asked about this possibility directly, Moss said that's not the case.

Nothing gets past the Swifties, and The Handmaid’s Tale star Elisabeth Moss is clearing up rumors that Taylor Swift had a secret cameo during the show’s final season.
On the penultimate episode of the Hulu drama, a member of the Mayday rebellion gets out of a vehicle that will transport the women to safety. Although the face of the person is not visible, and viewers only see a silhouette, but this was enough to get the Swifties in action and theorize that this was Swift.
In a new interview, Moss was asked about Swift’s alleged secret cameo and cleared up the rumors.
“God, I love them,” Moss told our sister site TVLine about the theories that Swift appeared on Episode 9.
After the reporter explained the scene to Moss, the star said, “That’s amazing! Of course it’s not [Swift]. Of course it’s not her. Oh my God,...

Did Taylor Swift Have a Secret Handmaid’s Tale Cameo?! Elisabeth Moss Gives Us the Scoop (Exclusive)
When The Handmaid’s Tale‘s penultimate episode dropped Tuesday, Taylor Swift fans rejoiced: The hour’s opening moments were backed by “Look What You Made Me Do (Taylor’s Version),” an inclusion they hoped was a hint that Swift’s re-recorded Reputation album was on its way.
But a few sharp-eyed fans watching the sequence, which featured Elisabeth Moss’ June and her fellow handmaids on the warpath to destroy Gilead, thought Swift had even more influence on the scene. As in: They were fairly certain she was in the scene as an background actor, albeit with her back to the camera.

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for The Handmaid’s Tale Season 6 Episode 9, “Execution.”] The Handmaid’s Tale delivered an explosive end for Nick (Max Minghella) and Commander Lawrence (Bradley Whitford) in the penultimate episode of the series. June’s former lover was killed when an altitude-triggered bomb went off on the plane carrying the last surviving commanders from Boston, a bomb planted by Lawrence in what became a suicide mission. June (Elisabeth Moss) and Lawrence didn’t expect Nick to be on that plane, but stopping him from boarding would mean losing their last chance to kill Wharton (Josh Charles) and the other commanders. Nick smiled at Lawrence on the plane as he said, “Guess you decided to join the winners.” His death, and this “join the winners” line in particular, has had The Handmaid’s Tale fans talking since the episode came out on May 20. Here, The Handmaid’s Tale executive producer/former showrunner Bruce Miller explains what...

Hold on to your bonnets! If you can believe it, we've already almost reached the end of The Handmaid's Tale season 6. This isn't just a season finale either. It will be the official last episode of the show as well. The dystopian drama has been a part of our lives since 2017 and now eight years later, it's almost time to say goodbye.
When is The Handmaid's Tale series finale?
The Handmaid's Tale season 6 episode 10, aka the series finale, premieres Tuesday, May 27, 2025 on Hulu. The streaming service releases the episodes at 12 a.m. Et that day, meaning those of you in other time zones get to watch when it drops Monday night for you.
Other than seasons 2 and 3, each season of the show has been 10 episodes. So it's not surprising that the final installment got the same episode count. And honestly, I think it's enough. Check out the release times below:
East Coast: 12 a.

Written by co-showrunner Eric Tuchman and directed by Elisabeth Moss, The Handmaid's Tale's penultimate Season 6 episode, "Execution," is perhaps one of the most shocking of the entire series so far, as the clock ticks ever closer to an Earth-shattering finale. Sabotage was on the mind of Commander Lawrence (Bradley Whitford), as he intended to leave an explosive device on a Commander-only flight, only for Commander Wharton's (Josh Charles) invitation to leave him with no other choice than to turn a once-simple exercise in explosive disruption into a suicide mission.
This, sadly, left the fate of several sealed, including a none-the-wiser Nick (Max Minghella), something made even more tragic when June's controversial lover seemed to care about her safety in his final moments, asking Lawrence whether she was alright. Nick and June's romance has been a constant point of contention throughout Season 6, but most wouldn't have expected it to end like this.

The Handmaid's Talestar and producer Elisabeth Moss breaks down season 6's penultimate ninth episode's use of a rerecorded Taylor Swift song, how it fulfilled a long-term goal, and how they chose the best moment to use the track. The Hulu series adapts Margaret Atwood's pivotal dystopian novel to screen, exploring a horrific future where a totalitarian theonomic government has taken control of America, forcing fertile women to become child-bearing slaves. Alongside serving as a producer and director on several episodes, Moss portrays the leading character June, a woman forced to become a Handmaid, and would later become a revolutionary.
As The Handmaid's Tale season 6, episode 9 "Execution" brought the series into its final chapter, Moss explained to Billboardwhy episode 9's use of Swift's "Taylor's Version" rerecording of "Look What You Made Me Do" was a major moment for her. For Moss, she had been searching for a place to...

It's the end of Gilead as we knew it, and it feels Great.
The penultimate episode of The Handmaid's Tale sees the revolution take place in full force, even if it doesn't go completely according to plan.
June (Elisabeth Moss), Janine (Madeline Brewer), Moira (Samira Wiley), and Aunt Phoebe (D'Arcy Carden) — who is really a CIA agent named Ava working with Mark (Sam Jaeger) — start the episode excited for their next steps, but are stopped by Wharton's (Josh Charles) guards. He knows June is behind the 37 Commanders killed after his wedding, and he wants her separated from the others and sent to a prison cell. There, she tries to appeal to him, but ultimately fails and finds herself prepared to be hanged alongside her friends and even Aunt Lydia (Ann Dowd).

Near the end of the penultimate episode of “The Handmaid’s Tale,” what had been a relatively simple piece of sabotage turned into a suicide mission for Bradley Whitford’s turncoat Commander Joseph Lawrence. He was forced to board a Commanders-only flight with an explosive device he’d hoped to leave behind before the others arrived, but when Commander Wharton (Josh Charles) invited Lawrence onto the plane, he had no choice other than to join them. There’s no such thing as a good Commander.
The Handmaid’s Tale‘s writers have been passing along that message to viewers throughout the sixth and final season of the Hulu series. When Nick (Max Minghella) shocked his lover June (Elisabeth Moss) with the Jezebel’s betrayal, her husband Luke (O-t Fagbenle) argued it’s because he’s a Nazi. When Wharton (Josh Charles) surprised his new wife with a handmaid on their wedding night, Serena Joy (Yvonne Strahovski) remembered June’s warning: Wharton can’t be a good man, because he’s a man of Gilead.

When Yvonne Strahovski was preparing to walk down the aisle as Serena Joy for The Handmaid’s Tale‘s final season, she was nervous.
“That’s not how I usually get when on set,” she tells The Hollywood Reporter. “I had to walk down an aisle with everyone staring at me, and I felt like I was going to fall over doing that slow aisle walk. I was genuinely, extremely nervous.”
Nerves seem appropriate given the grand opulence of the Gilead wedding that was created for the former Mrs. Waterford’s second marriage to High Commander Wharton, played by season six newcomer Josh Charles. The ceremony was set in a church for the eighth episode, titled “Exodus” (which released earlier this week), and the elite affair that followed featured more moving parts than perhaps any prior episode in the Emmy-winning Hulu series. The Handmaid’s Tale resistance finally arrived and it took everyone by surprise, but none more than Aunt Lydia.
The eighth episode of the sixth and final season of the Hulu series circled all the way back to the very beginning. After setting up the biggest coup ever planned by June (Elisabeth Moss) and her fellow handmaids at the end of last episode, this week’s hour, titled “Exodus,” opened with a callback where June in voiceover explains the logic behind the creation of Gilead’s class system and why the totalitarian regime cloaked its handmaids in red.
“They assigned us colors. They dictated what we wore. Who we could be. They used our clothes to divide us, to dehumanize us,” she explains. “They put us in red, the color of blood, to mark us.”
But, she says, “They forgot that it’s also the color of rage.

This season, The Handmaid's Tale has been throwing some characters on both sides of the story off-balance and making them question their roles in the world. This time around, it was Serena Joy (Yvonne Strahovski) who was forced to come to the realization that the High Commanders only have one thing in mind: themselves. After this week's landmark Red Wedding-like event, Strahovski sat down with TV Line in order to talk about Serena's impressions and what's next for the new Mrs. Wharton.
During the interview, Strahovski talked about how Serena was blindsided by Commander Wharton (Josh Charles) and how the "return" to Gilead — or New Bethlehem if you prefer — triggered both the character and even Strahovski herself. After she gets married, Serena comes home to find out that a handmaid was gifted to her and Wharton as a way to remind her that she has family-administering duties. Strahovski stated:
