The wealth of the world’s very richest people — a list dominated by U.S. billionaires, many of whom backed President-elect Donald Trump — has soared to record levels since the election. Billionaires’ investments to elect one of their own in Trump is paying off as Wall Street cash floods into the companies they control.
Already, data shows that the ultra-wealthiest segments in the U.S. control a greater share of wealth than during the Gilded Age. Since 1989, the top 0.1 percent got over $14 trillion dollars richer than the entire bottom 50 percent of America,...

Exclusive: Director Matt Tyrnauer is doing a rapid update of his new documentary Carville: Winning Is Everything, Stupid to reflect Donald Trump’s win in the presidential election. Deadline has learned the filmmaker quickly assembled a crew to shoot a new interview with the famed Democratic political consultant to include as a coda to the film.
“The election wasn’t decided when we finished the film just a few weeks ago,” Tyrnauer explains. “We now know the outcome and I felt that I wanted to put a period at the end of the sentence.”
The recut version is now streaming on Max. “There was a reshuffling of a few elements that are almost invisible,” Tyrnauer says. “Then we give the outcome the election, and then James gives what is almost like his homily — or, battle cry is maybe a better term — which is we’re an opposition party… And that...

Decades before shows like "Search Party" took an ever-shifting approach to the comedic TV format, "Laverne & Shirley" was switching things up season after season. The "Happy Days" spinoff started with a pretty consistent premise in its early seasons, focusing on two zany roommates working at a Milwaukee bottling company. By season 5, though, tomboy Laverne (Penny Marshall) and optimist Shirley (Cindy Williams) ended up in the Army Reserves, and season 6 saw them move to Burbank and work as department store gift wrappers. By the final season, Shirley was gone, and Laverne was working in the aerospace industry.
As wild as the twists and turns of "Laverne & Shirley" were, the show had some constants across its eight seasons, including the presence of neighbors Lenny (Michael McKean) and Squiggy (David Lander), Laverne's dad Frank (Phil Foster), and Shirley's fame-hungry ex, Carmine (Eddie Mekka). Most of the actors who made "Laverne & Shirley...

Prince Harry is throwing himself into his charity work for his beloved Invictus Games, but his latest engagement may have gone too far for a Royal family member.
Prince Harry was in New York promoting several causes, including Bill Clinton’s Clinton Global Initiative.
As Monsters and Critics reported, Prince Harry also visited a tattoo parlor, but it was unclear if he got a real tattoo or a temporary one.
It seems that country rocker Jelly Roll was involved in a prank played on Prince Harry at a tattoo parlor in September when the prince came to invite the singer to the Invictus Games ceremony.
Members of the Royal family typically do not get tattoos, or at least not visible ones, although Princess Eugenie and Lady Amelia Windsor have visible tattoos, according to Magnum Tattoo Supplies.

December 3 can’t come soon enough for the Menendez Brothers.
The first week after Thanksgiving finds new Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman taking office. As the former U.S. Assistant Attorney General made clear in his successful campaign against one-term incumbent George Gascón and since his November 5 landslide victory, one of the first things the new Da will be treating as a self-declared “high priority” is the move his predecessor began on October 24 on a potential resentencing of the long incarcerated siblings.
“Once I take office on December 3, I look forward to putting in the hard work to thoroughly review the facts and law of the Menendez case, including reviewing the confidential prison files, the transcripts of the two trials and the voluminous exhibits, as well as speaking with the prosecutors, defense attorneys and victim family members,” Hochman said today.

As Saturday Night Live prepares for the comedy birthday party to end all comedy birthday parties, expect plenty of classic characters to get their encore flowers. Maybe Wayne and Garth will get in one last schwing! Stefon might reignite his love affair with Seth Meyers. Eddie Murphy could break out Mr. Robinson or Gumby.
But thanks to evolving cultural norms around comedy, these 10 SNL characters are virtually guaranteed not to get an invite to the festivities. Sorry, Merv the Perv, you’re not on the list.
1 Pat
Pat was Julia Sweeney’s signature SNL character, showing up 12 times to repeat the same tired joke: No one could tell if the androgynous character was a man or a woman. Playing gender identity for laughs isn’t cool — and it doesn’t help that whiny, whinging Pat was insufferable.

The year 2024 has seen an ever-growing list of biopics about legendary figures being portrayed by phenomenal actors. Dennis Quaid, Angelina Jolie, Timothée Chalamet, and many more actors joined the biopic bandwagon.
Seems like another semi-biopic film is on the horizon, but this one has a non-conventional actor. The upcoming Robbie Williams biopic movie Better Man employed a CGI Monkey to portray the British pop icon. The singer allegedly justified the move by stating that he always felt like a performing monkey when he walked on stage.

Hollywood has been revisiting a lot of ‘90s teen horror franchises lately, from the new Scream movies, to the I Know What You Did Last Summer TV show, to the Jurassic World series that clearly took its cues from the Denise Richards classic Tammy and the T-Rex.
Now it’s just been announced that Idle Hands is getting a remake (even though it was basically already a remake of that one scene from Army of Darkness).
The new Idle Hands is penned by Billy Bryk and Finn Wolfhard (of Stranger Things fame), and it will be produced by Jason Reitman. Presumably, a story about demonic possession will be a pleasant change of pace for Reitman after the hellish nightmare that is Saturday Night Live’s backstage politics.

The second trailer for A24’s Y2K features a remixed Bill Clinton playing over a 1990s montage of dial-up internet and panic at a 1999 New Year’s Eve party.
“Someone’s on the net,” a panicked Rachel Zegler says at the beginning of the trailer, released Wednesday.
The clip reveals few other details about the upcoming film, which will be the directorial debut of Saturday Night Live‘s Kyle Mooney.
The movie hits theaters Dec. 6, and centers on two high school juniors who find themselves fending for their lives after crashing a New Year’s Eve shindig on the last night of the 20th century. Turn-of-the-century technology appears to take over the party, turning the night potentially deadly, with a computer aboard a remote control car chasing party guests around a living room.

To no one’s surprise, John Mulaney’s father Charles had a hilariously stern reaction to his son’s decision to pursue a career in stand-up comedy. One black coffee.
Like most comics, the younger Mulaney mines his family life for material when crafting his many hit specials, and, as a result, the people in his life have become characters in his act whom his audience will presume to know personally themselves. This has been a constant source of tension among the Mulaney fandom in the past couple of years, as, after cracking classic jokes about his ex-wife Anna Marie Tendler throughout his rise to superstardom, many vocal fans-turned-haters took Mulaney’s separation from the “bossy Jew” (his poorly-aged words) in 2021 as a personal betrayal, or like a writer killing off their favorite character.

Jon Stewart has some harsh words after the 2024 election, but none of them were for incoming President Donald Trump. Instead, “The Daily Show” host directed his ire at the left-leaning media and pundits, zeroing in on an unexpected target: “Morning Joe” host Mika Brzezinski.
After harping on how Democrats were disconnected from the general public, Stewart played a damning clip from the MSNBC show. “That was ‘Morning Joe’ host Mika Brzezinski discussing a New York Times column by Maureen Dowd on how to escape the liberal bubble,” Stewart said to ripples of laughter, referring to Dowd’s “Democrats and the Case of Mistaken Identity Politics.”
“I guess I’ll just have to get the Times and read it myself unless there’s another way to make this less entertaining,” Stewart teased before launching into his next clip: Brzezinski’s announcement that she would be reading the piece live on the air.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has just been released. After completing the Modern Warfare trilogy, Activision is now looking to revive its Black Ops series. The last game in the series, Black Ops Cold War, didn’t get a proper reception from the fans, which is why all the honors lay on the shoulders of the recently launched title.

Although, things are not going very well for BO6, as the game is heavily criticized for the new movement mechanics and launch maps. Still, the game features one of the best campaign missions in franchise history. However, there is a controversial mission that is getting huge criticisms for its setting.

Adam Schiff now holds the Senate seat that belonged to Dianne Feinstein for three decades.
Surprising no one, the Democratic longtime congressman from Hollywood easily beat Republican and former Los Angeles Dodgers great Steve Garvey tonight. The Associated Press called the race for Schiff mere seconds after the polls closed in California. The Golden State and its 54 Electoral College votes went solidly for Vice President Kamala Harris in a very close race with Donald Trump.
Seeing his seat in California’s 30th District likely going to fellow Democrat Laura Friedman over GOP contender Alex Balekian, Schiff will take over from incumbent Sen. Laphonza Butler until early next year. Butler announced not long after Gov. Gavin Newsom appointed the former Emily’s List chief in late 2023 to fill out the deceased Feinstein’s seat, that she would not seeking a full Senate term for herself. On the night of the 2000 presidential election, as the counting began in a tight race between Texas Gov. George W. Bush and incumbent Vice President Al Gore, it all came down to Florida. And then, all hell broke loose.
Director Jay Roach and writer Danny Strong captured the stakes and the personalities that drove that strange moment in “Recount,” the Emmy-winning 2008 HBO movie starring Denis Leary, Kevin Spacey, Bob Balaban and Laura Dern. Instead of “Stop the Steal,” the rally cry in 2000 for Bush supporters was “Stop the Recount.”

“Longlegs” (2024), directed by Oz Perkins, is set to be hailed as one of the great modern horror films. In recent years, many horror movies have garnered attention through impressive marketing campaigns, only to leave audiences disappointed with lackluster final products. However, “Longlegs” succeeds where others fail by delivering precisely what its chilling short trailers promised. Instead of relying on cheap jump scares, the film expertly cultivates a pervasive sense of dread, a hallmark of truly exceptional horror. The technical aspects are outstanding; the cinematography and sound design create a visceral experience that pulls viewers into a living nightmare as the characters slowly spiral into their impending doom. Paying homage to genre-defining classics like “Se7en” and “The Silence of the Lambs,” “Longlegs” cements its place in the pantheon of great horror.

Wow, November got here fast. This year’s election cycle seemed shorter than usual. The presidential candidates were all but a foregone conclusion, until they weren’t. Now with election season finally here, things continue to be tense. Are smooth transitions between administrations a thing of the past, or has the fever from last cycle broken?
Despite the strange reality we live in now, politics have always been fertile ground for nerve-fraying anxiety. Whether that’s the paranoia of being under the all-seeing eye of the Nsa today, the tragedy of the assassinations in the 60s, or the scandals of the 70s, politics have never been for the faint of heart. Struggles for power rarely are.
Here’s some of our favorite political thrillers to put you in the right mood for election season:

John Oliver has long joked about Donald Trump and how bad a second term would be, but on Sunday night’s episode of “Last Week Tonight” — the final episode before the election — the HBO host got very serious, his voice even cracking from emotion at one point.
For the duration of the show, Oliver zeroed in on Trump’s business ventures, and yes, largely making fun of them and the people who are involved with them. But, to close out his show, he got serious, admitting that he’s talked less about Kamala Harris on the show, albeit for a “pretty clear reason.”
“This could come down to a handful of votes in a handful of states,” he said. “And given that, I’ve been thinking ‘What am I going to be feeling on Wednesday? And is there anything I’m gonna wish I’d said right now?’ So that...

Of all the comedy subgenres, the political comedy is probably the hardest to nail down. What, exactly, constitutes a political comedy? Is it a movie set in the world of politics? It is just a movie that has political commentary? And what’s the difference between a political comedy and a political satire? Is one meaner in its humor than the other?
In order to make a list of the 20 best political comedies, I had to figure out answers to these questions. And that meant making some tough choices, like any good elected official. And what I decided was to be pretty strict in my definition of what counts. There are so many good films that are often called political comedies — Four Lions, Borat, numerous war movies — but for my purposes, a film had to feature politicians, world leaders or at the very least some folks who were running for something,...

From Hillary Clinton to Donald Trump to Barack Obama, an appearance on Saturday Night Live has become an obligatory whistle-stop for presidential candidates over the past 20 years. Kamala Harris was the latest to join the parade last night, communing with her comedy doppelgänger Maya Rudolph to make one final push for votes in advance of Tuesday’s election.
Looking at one another in the mirror, Harris and “Harris” gave each other words of encouragement during the campaign’s final days. There was a shot at Trump, albeit one that required viewers to have seen the viral video in which the former president had trouble locating a garbage truck door handle. The real Harris winced at Rudolph’s impression: “I don’t really laugh like that, do I?”
“A little bit,” Kamala/Maya conceded.
Then the two shared some cutesy Kamala puns. “Now, Kamala, take my palmala. The American people want to stop the chaos,...

It’s seven days out from the election and Tim Walz still knows who he is. In the past week, Walz has called Elon Musk a “dipshit” in the presence of Barack Obama, cleaned up Joe Biden’s “garbage” remarks on the morning television shows, played video games with Aoc, and internally raged about a fake AI video calling him a pedophile. He has forsaken his own Christian name and professional title, and his birth certificate may very well read “Coach.” He has hit all seven swing states in eight days calling Donald Trump old,...

Her mother, Laura Calderwood, says that in the years since, every night she is at home, she still walks down her second-floor hall to turn on the light in Mollie’s bedroom, and then closes Mollie’s door.

Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz will guest on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Monday, the night before the election, in an interview that was taped earlier today.
Colbert spoke with Walz, the governor of Minnesota, in Bucks County, Pa , a key battleground county and state.
This will be Walz’s first appearance on the show. Colbert interviewed Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris earlier this month. Walz’s first late night appearance was on Jimmy Kimmel Live, also earlier this month, but Colbert is the only late night show to feature both candidates. Colbert’s other guest on Monday will be John Oliver.
Colbert took part in a fundraiser for Joe Biden’s presidential campaign earlier this year, before he dropped out of the race. Colbert moderated a discussion between Biden and former presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama at Radio City Music Hall.

It’s not uncommon for The Simpsons’ annual “Treehouse of Horror” episodes to get political. Usually, this is due to the show’s frequent proximity to U.S. presidential elections, hence why we once got an episode in which Bob Dole and Bill Clinton get stripped naked and shot into the cold vacuum of space.

While you might not expect these episodes to be taken seriously in a court of law, several “Treehouse of Horror” episodes were nearly part of a billion dollar defamation trial involving allegations of electoral fraud.
As you may recall, in 2021, Dominion Voting Systems sued Fox News for $1.6 billion, alleging that the cable news network “purposely aired false claims about the company’s role in the 2020 presidential election in order to boost ratings.” Fox eventually settled the case for $737 million, perhaps because their “key source” for the election fraud claims was a woman who claims...

Channel 4 is gearing up for its first live U.S. election program in 32 years.
“There’s about a million moving parts,” Ian Rumsey, ITN’s managing director of content, tells The Hollywood Reporter about Tuesday’s overnight coverage. “And this election really matters, not just in the U.S., but in the U.K. and around the world.”
On Nov. 5, Democrat Kamala Harris will go head-to-head in the polls with Republican candidate and former president Donald Trump in what most analysts are agreeing is one of the tightest races in decades. The two trade the minimal less-than-a-point-lead in those key battleground states constantly, and Channel 4, partnering with CNN, sees it as ripe soil for an exhilarating live studio show.

In 1994, audiences were treated to Interview With The Vampire, an adaptation of Anne Rice's classic horror novel about melancholic vampires spending eternity in the throes of enuii, homoerotic longing, or both. Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt, who were movie stars then and now, played the roles of Lestat and Louis, giving meaty performances that endure in the public imagination to this day.
Despite Rice writing many more Vampire Chronicles books after Interview, the movie never did get a sequel, despite what fellow movie star George Clooney would have his colleagues believe. As Clooney explained on an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! a while back, apparently he's a prolific prankster found of impersonating notable figures and sending forged letters in their voice to actors he knows. “Every actor I know I’ve sent a letter from Bill Clinton,” he said. “I try to find their worst film and I tell them,...

Since its beginning in 1975, Saturday Night Live has excelled at political impressions. They've been around for every Presidential election for decades, not to mention scores of political figures who have come and gone. Sometimes, you get an actor doing an okay impression, but other times, SNL crafts an impression so huge that it becomes a national sensation.
The best impressions are so famous that they can overwhelm the actual political figure being lampooned. Often, these politicians will pop up on SNL to confront their imposter and give them a stamp of approval. Not all of them are top-notch (their various takes on Donald Trump have been tricky), but these rank as the best SNL political impersonations over the last 50 years, and how you can always count on the show to nail some hilarious takes on famous political figures past and present.

Monster may have covered the story of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer first, and this year the season decided to focus on the true-crime story of Lyle and Eric Menendez, brothers who were convicted of murdering their wealthy parents with a shotgun.
The third season of the series is now set to tell the true story of serial killer Ed Gein with Sons of Anarchy actor Charlie Hunnam, but while fans wait for that to come out in a couple of years or so, there are some other true-crime dramas that are very well worth checking out if you got bitten by the true-crime bug.
American Crime Story Series
Before Monster was even a show, creator Ryan Murphy had another anthology series called American Crime Story that followed real-life crimes that became the center of huge scandals.

There’s no shortage of conviction as James Carville scans the political landscape in the revealing documentary Carville: Winning is Everything, Stupid. Legendary Democratic strategist and commentator Carville fearlessly speaks his mind on the challenges facing his party as the 2024 election approaches.
Interweaving Carville’s analysis with moments from his storied career, director Matt Tyrnauer explores what makes this “Raging Cajun” tick while capturing a decisive time for American democracy.
A mastermind of President Clinton’s Watershed 1992 campaign, Carville understands the intricacies of electoral politics like few others. Yet his roots lie in a small Louisiana town, where memories of racial injustice still burn bright. Carville’s rise from humble beginnings makes his fierce determination all the more compelling. Through it all, an unlikely marriage to Republican consultant Mary Matalin has persisted against odds.
As the documentary progresses alongside election season, Carville’s doubts grow regarding Joe Biden’s candidacy.

`While the scandal had a lot of people writing about Lewinsky’s character in what can only be described as a smear campaign, Collins seemed to have taken a different route when talking about the scandal. In particular, the actor decided to actually defend Lewinsky amid all the negative press that she was receiving.

Hold the Phone! Stars Are Dialing for Kamala
Hey, swing state voters, pick up the damn phone already! It could be Jessica Alba calling. Or Patton Oswalt. Or any number of other stars who’ve been diligently manning phone banks for the Kamala Harris campaign the past several weeks. While there haven’t been a whole lot of celebrities turning up in political TV ads this election cycle — there’s always been some doubt about how impactful those are, anyway — Hollywood types have been finding other, more personal ways of whispering into voters’ ears. “About five weeks ago, I started Phone Banking Fridays,” says producer Jamie Patricof (Half Nelson, The Place Behind the Pines), who is now shooting a movie — Roofman, with Channing Tatum and Kirsten Dunst — in the swingiest of swing states, North Carolina, and corralling some of his cast and crew (and their friends) into spending a few...

An aging Commander in Chief faces health struggles, and as a result, his younger, female vice-president ascends. That is, of course, the story of the 2024 presidential election in which Vice President Kamala Harris became the Democratic nominee, replacing an ailing Joe Biden. But it also happens to be a TV show plot – nearly 20 years ago.
The series, Commander in Chief, which premiered in 2005, starred Geena Davis as the first female vice president in American history, selected to help an older, white male political candidate appeal to other constituencies. Sound familiar? There are notable differences between the political fiction of the show and the political realities of the 2024 race, however. For one, fictional President Teddy Bridges is a Republican, while Mackenzie, portrayed by Davis, is an Independent. Oh, and in the show (spoiler alert!) the president dies, leading to the first female Commander in Chief.

Political activist Laura Loomer, a prominent right-wing personality, has filed a defamation lawsuit against Bill Maher and Warner Bros. Discovery’s HBO “for broadcasting with actual malice” suggestions that she “has committed adultery with President Donald Trump” on a recent edition of Real Time With Bill Maher, her lawyer Larry Klayman said on Tuesday.
Klayman, a former federal prosecutor and former candidate for the U.S. Senate in Florida known for numerous lawsuits he filed against Bill Clinton’s presidential administration, unveiled the defamation complaint, arguing that the defendants were “broadcasting with actual malice that Republican female conservative activist Laura Loomer has committed adultery with President Donald Trump.”
The complaint has been filed in the Florida district “where Ms. Loomer ran for U.S. Congress and has strong roots and has a community reputation as a respected moral figure,” according to a statement, which also noted that she is seeking $150 million plus punitive damages.
