20 Great Travel Movies For Those Seeking Escapism
Image
Travel movies allow us to extend beyond the confines of our living room or a movie theater. It offers escapism free from boundaries or restrictions. A comfort that allows us to see different perspectives, cultures, and landscapes in a level of depth that everyday travel cannot always offer. Here is a list of movies about travel aimed at broadening your horizons and offering the perfect escape.

20. Eat Pray Love (2010) Julia Roberts as “Elizabeth Gilbert” in Columbia Pictures’ Eat, Pray, Love.

To ‘find oneself’ through travel has become a familiar cliché over the years, and Eat Pray Love does not shy away from using this concept in its entirety. Despite the predictability, the film delivers a familiar message – the need to escape the everyday routine and seek more outside the mundane.

We experience this desire through Elizabeth Gilbert. A woman who questions the stable life she has built and yearns to...

The Naked Gun Original Cast: Where Are They Now?
Image
It’s been over 35 years since The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! crash-landed into pop culture with all the subtlety of a banana peel on a courtroom floor. Directed by David Zucker, the movie is a chaotic mix of slapstick, puns, deadpan delivery, and pure nonsense. This 1988 comedy classic didn’t just make us laugh, it rewired our brains to never look at police procedurals the same way again.

But the movie wouldn’t have hit nearly as hard without its totally off-the-wall cast. You had Leslie Nielsen delivering punchlines with the seriousness of a Shakespearean actor, Priscilla Presley proving she could do comedy like a pro, and Weird Al popping up just to make things even weirder (in the best way). It was the kind of casting that shouldn’t have worked, but somehow nailed it.

Some were comedy legends. Some were wild choices that totally caught us off guard.

Sofia Coppola Voted This Must-Watch Movie The Best Romance Of The 21st Century
Image
The New York Times recently released its ranking of the 100 best movies of the 21st century so far. While not everyone was happy with the list (in part because the picks weren't as international in scope as they could've been), it's hard to argue with each individual movie they chose. Ranked #4 on the list was "In the Mood for Love," a 2000 romance film directed by Wong Kar-wai.

Sofia Coppola was among the filmmakers who chose "In the Mood for Love" as one of the 10 movies on her ballot, and the film's entry on the list quotes her reasons for including it. "It really blew my mind that you could make films in that way, as a poetic medium that doesn't have to spell everything out," Coppola wrote. "It felt like something I hadn't seen before and it was really inspiring to make things that were more impressionistic."

It makes sense...

Sofia Coppola presents her first documentary: an intimate portrait of Marc Jacobs
Image
Sofia Coppola makes her documentary debut with ‘Marc by Sofia’, an intimate portrait of the iconic designer Marc Jacobs.

The acclaimed director Sofia Coppola steps into documentary filmmaking with a production focused on one of the most influential names in contemporary fashion: Marc Jacobs. The film, titled ‘Marc by Sofia’, will premiere out of competition at the prestigious Venice Film Festival this summer, already establishing itself as one of the most anticipated releases in the worlds of art and fashion.

Coppola and Jacobs share a creative history spanning decades. Their bond goes beyond the professional, with collaborations including advertising campaigns, perfume commercials, and partnerships within brands such as Louis Vuitton and Heaven by Marc Jacobs. This closeness makes Coppola a privileged storyteller, able to explore Jacobs’s artistic, professional, and personal evolution from a unique perspective deeply connected to the subject.

Although details about the documentary’s narrative approach remain under wraps,...

Diciannove Review: Giovanni Tortorici’s Debut Feature is Full of Style But Lacks a Backbone
Image
Luca Guadagnino, for better or for worse, is an arbiter––and cultural signifier––of taste. Follow his lead and you are assured a sensuous journey, albeit one that never goes too far beneath the surface. In the years since’s Call Me By Your Name, Guadagnino has put his weight behind up-and-coming voices whose films are also aesthetically pleasing and intellectually promising. There’s the Italian director Ferdinando Cito Filomarino and, more notably, the Georgian director Dea Kulumbegashvili (April). Last year, Giovanni Tortorici, a former assistant director for Guadagnino on the HBO series We Are Who We Are, added his name to this list when Diciannove premiered in the Venice Film Festival’s Orizzonti sidebar, where it was well-received by critics. A semi-autobiographical coming-of-age picture about a repressed homosexual intellectual under the Tuscan sun? Consider me seated.

Just like Leonardo, its 19-year-old protagonist played by Manfredi Marini, Diciannove is marked by a restless listlessness.

Venice 2025 Wants Shorter Movies — and Other Takeaways from This Year’s Lineup
Image
Early Tuesday morning, the Venice Film Festival announced the lineup for its 82nd edition featuring a range of films set to make waves internationally the rest of the year. While many of the competition titles were predicted by IndieWire and others ahead of the official announcement on the morning of July 22, the overall list of films and filmmakers in attendance still offered plenty of surprises.

Below, we dive into what stood out about the lineup, whether it was which films and studios are not participating this time around, to the ways in which this group of Venice entries differs from the ones from last year.

No Warner Bros. Pictures

While there are other studios that are not taking some expected features to Venice, like Focus Features with “Hamnet” or Sony with “Klara and the Sun,” the studio most noticeably absent from any part of the Venice schedule is Warner Bros.

‘Jay Kelly,’ ‘The Smashing Machine,’ ‘Bugonia,’ and all the Oscar contenders taking bows in competition at Venice
Image
It's going to be a smashing time in Venice this year. The Venice Film Festival has unveiled the full lineup for its 82nd edition and the annual event will serve as the launching pad for Dwayne Johnson's Oscar campaign. The WWE star-turned-leading man plans to be front and center on the Lido with the competition entry The Smashing Machine from director Benny Safdie. Based on the life of Mma fighter Mark Kerr, the film reunites Johnson with his Jungle Cruise costar, Emily Blunt, and hopes to succeed in the awards race where A24's last sports picture — 2023's The Iron Claw — fell short.

But Johnson is stepping into the ring with some heavy-hitters in the Best Actor race, including George Clooney and Oscar Isaac. Both stars will be in Venice for their respective Netflix productions, Jay Kelly and Frankenstein, which hail from directors with proven awards track records. Clooney...

Bruce Springsteen’s 2025 Oscar Race Is Getting an Early Start with Academy Honor
Image
Bruce Springsteen was “Born to Run” into the 2025 Oscars race.

As The Boss gears up for the release of his much-anticipated biopic “Deliver Me from Nowhere” later this year, the iconic singer is already set to be honored during the fifth annual Academy Museum Gala. The timing couldn’t be better: The Academy Museum Gala will take place October 18, with “Deliver Me from Nowhere” arriving in theaters in October 24. Springsteen will be portrayed by Jeremy Allen White, with Jeremy Strong, Paul Walter Hauser, Stephen Graham, Marc Maron, Gaby Hoffmann, and David Krumholtz also starring in the ’80s-set feature.

The Academy Museum Gala recognition further ushers in the presumed Springsteen mania of this upcoming awards season. Springsteen will receive the museum’s inaugural Legacy Award and is also set for a live performance at the ceremony. The Legacy Award “honors an artist whose body of work has inspired generations of storytellers and deeply influenced our culture,...

The festival opens at Regal LA Live with a selection of four shorts including Como si la tierra se las hubiera tragado, directed by Natalia León, an animated short that won the jury award at the Sundance Film Festival.

Before Jurassic World Rebirth, Scarlett Johansson Starred In This Forgotten Monster Movie
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

Scarlett Johansson is one of the biggest names in Hollywood. If there is an A-list, she is unquestionably on it, right alongside the likes of Tom Cruise, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, or anyone else one cares to name. Thanks to the recent success of "Jurassic World Rebirth" at the box office, Johansson is now literally the highest-grossing lead actor of all time. That comes from decades of work dating back to the mid-'90s. But long before she was mixing it up with dinosaurs, she once tangled with giant spiders in an oft-forgotten creature feature.

The movie in question is "Eight Legged Freaks" which, as the name suggests, is all about giant spiders. Directed by Ellory Elkayem, the film centers on the residents of a rural mining town. A chemical spill combined with the inhabitants of a local exotic creature...

6 actors you probably forgot were in Star Wars movies
Image
The Star Wars universe is vast. Between trilogies, spin-offs, and countless stormtroopers in every piece of canon content, it’s easy to forget who’s under all those helmets. Over the decades, the franchise has become a who’s who of cameos and pre-fame appearances.

Here are six actors you may have forgotten are part of the Star Wars universe (number five is my favorite!)

1. Keira Knightley – The Phantom Menace (1999)

Before she broke out with Bend It Like Beckham and Pirates of the Caribbean, Keira Knightley played Sabé, Queen Amidala’s decoy handmaiden in The Phantom Menace. Thanks to Natalie Portman and Knightley’s striking resemblance, even Knightley’s own mother had trouble telling them apart on screen. Knightley famously forgot her Star Wars role, so don’t worry if you did, too.

2. Daniel Craig – The Force Awakens (2015)

Yes, James Bond is technically in Star Wars. Daniel Craig has a...

‘Broken Voices’ Review: Exceptional Czech Drama Nimbly Deals With Abuses of Power in a Competitive Girls Choir
Image
So much goes unspoken in “Broken Voices,” Czech director Ondřej Provazník’s nuanced retelling of the notorious sex scandal that rocked the Bambini di Praga girls choir, rechristened Canticella here. Set in the early 1990s, the empathy-minded psychological drama follows 13-year-old Karolína (Kateřina Falbrová), focusing largely on her desire to join the choir’s prestigious concert section, where her slightly older sister already performs.

The intricate dynamics Karolína must navigate to be selected for the 10-person tour, which is scheduled to visit New York City, would be enough for most films. But this one builds to a devastating finale, exploring a darker subtext wherein the girls’ motives and feelings are implied but never explicitly confirmed. At once intimate and enigmatic, “Broken Voices” is ultimately more “Picnic at Hanging Rock” than “Pitch Perfect,” especially in the scene where the girls emerge from the boulders in Central Park, offering a variation on...

Sofia Coppola in Paris with a Bal d’Été that Revives Pre-Instagram Glamour
Image
Sofia Coppola made an impact in Paris with an elegant Bal d’Été that blended art, fashion, and exclusivity — with no mobile phones allowed.

The Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris was the setting for an unforgettable evening when Sofia Coppola took on the role of artistic director for the first Bal d’Été, a gala that combined classic luxury with a carefully curated contemporary vision. In an era where everything seems designed for social media, Coppola chose the opposite approach: guests’ mobile phones were covered with stickers over the cameras to preserve the event’s intimacy.

The American filmmaker, dressed in Chanel haute couture, designed every detail of the night: from intensely pink napkins to the after-party music provided by the band Phoenix, led by her husband Thomas Mars. Every corner of the museum — from the chandeliers to the floral arrangements on round tables — reflected an aesthetic meant to be experienced,...

Scarlett Johansson’s Best Movies of 2000s Sparked the ‘Male Gaze’ Concern She Addressed in Jurassic World Rebirth
Image
Scarlett Johansson says a lot of her roles, including the ones in her best movies of the 2000s, revolved around desirability or the ‘male gaze.’ During a recent interview with The Times of London, the Marvel actress shared that it is “a different time for young women” in Hollywood.

She shared that the “messaging is different,” with women becoming role models and taking on powerful positions. Johansson shared that she was increasingly getting opportunities to “play women who don’t have to just be one thing or another.”

In her latest role, she plays a covert operation expert, Zora Bennett, in Jurassic World Rebirth. It happens to be one of those opportunities that Johansson talked about. However, this wasn’t the case for the actress for the longest time.

'Black Panther' Only MCU Film That Makes Nyt's Top 100 Movies of 21st Century
Image
The MCU is one of the most popular movie franchises of all time, but that doesn't mean it is as revered as other, more critically-acclaimed cinema. The Avengers franchise has made billions for Marvel Studios, but it's not often they make the cut of the "Best Of" all-time lists. However, the New York Times just released their Best Movies of the 21st Century list, voted on by select actors and filmmakers, and the highest-rated MCU movie on Rotten Tomatoes has made the cut.

The New York Times has unveiled The 100 Best Movies of the 21st Century, and while superheroes were mostly absent, one beloved MCU title made the list. The three-time Oscar-winning film Black Pantherlanded at the #96 spot on the list, sandwiched between Gravity (#97)and The Worst Person in the World (#95). Ryan Coogler's Black Panther is one of two superhero movies to be voted in the top 100, while Christopher Nolan...

Sofia Coppola: It’s ‘Really Hard’ to Watch ‘Violent’ Movies, but I Do ‘Love Scorsese’ Films
Image
Sofia Coppola has an anti-violence rule for watching films — with one notable exception. The director said during a recent masterclass at the Biarritz Nouvelles Vagues Festival that she tries to steer clear of “violent” films, though she is still a fan of Martin Scorsese’s features.

“I love Scorsese, so there are moments for it,” Coppola said, adding that “violent themes can be interesting or insinuating.” However, as a whole, Coppola herself “[doesn’t] really like violent films.”

She added, “There’s so much gun violence in my country. It’s really hard to see [those] movies. Old cowboys are cool, but just the way [violence] is overdone now is upsetting. … But really gory, not so much for me.”

Scorsese has no doubt has been a personal staple in Coppola’s life: Scorsese presented her father, fellow auteur Francis Ford Coppola, with the AFI Lifetime Achievement Award in 2025, and the duo have long praised each other’s work.

Sofia Coppola Says Movie Violence Is ‘Overdone’ and ‘Upsetting’ When ‘There’s So Much Gun Violence’ in the U.S.
Image
Don’t expect Sofia Coppola to jump on the horror movie bandwagon anytime soon. While speaking at a masterclass at the Biarritz’ Nouvelles Vagues Festival, Coppola said she “[doesn’t] really like violent films.”

“There’s so much gun violence in my country,” she said. “It’s really hard to see [those] movies. Old cowboys are cool, but just the way [violence] is overdone now is upsetting.”

Coppola, who flew from New York to be the guest of honor at the third edition of Nouvelles Vagues Festival in the picturesque south-western town of Biarritz, cited Martin Scorsese as a filmmaker whose movies have violence that serves a narrative purpose. “I love Scorsese, so there are moments for it,” she said, adding that “violent themes can be interesting or insinuating. But really, gory, not so much for me.”

The effortlessly chic Coppola also reminisced about her childhood, her early passion for fashion and photography, and...

Scarlett Johansson Thinks Colin Jost Would Outlive Michael Che in Jurassic World: ‘He’s From Staten Island’ | Video
Image
When it comes to man vs. dinosaurs, Scarlett Johansson is betting on her husband. While on “The Tonight Show,” the “Jurassic World Rebirth” star weighed in on which celebrities she thinks would survive a dino attack and who would become raptor food.

Jimmy Fallon closed out his game with his funniest choice: “Saturday Night Live” Weekend Update hosts Colin Jost or Michael Che.

“I’m only going to say Colin because he’s from Staten Island. He’s a tough guy,” Johansson said, laughing.

Fallon agreed with her, adding, “Colin, you are a tough guy. Good answers.”

The rest of Johansson’s picks were equally well thought out. Chris Hemsworth won over Chris Evans because Evans is from Boston and Hemsworth is from Australia — “In Australia, they have a lot of scary venomous snakes” — the A-lister reasoned. Meanwhile, Adam Driver won over Bill Murray not because of his age, but...

Mel Brooks loves ‘Hidden Figures’?! Julianne Moore’s a ‘Superbad’ fan?! Stars reveal their most surprising Nyt movie picks
Image
When The New York Times recently dropped its list of the 100 Best Movies of the 21st Century, it didn’t just spark film buff debates — it also gave readers a peek into which movies actors, directors, and creatives listed as their favorites. And let’s just say, the results are full of surprises.

Who would’ve guessed that comedy legend Mel Brooks — the mind behind Blazing Saddles and The Producers — is a major fan of Hidden Figures? His top 10 also includes Jojo Rabbit, A Beautiful Mind and The Bourne Identity.

Then there’s horror king Stephen King, who proved he has a soft side with Brokeback Mountain on his list, alongside more intense films such as Black Hawk Down, Million Dollar Baby, and Oppenheimer.

When Oscar winner Julianne Moore needs a laugh, it appears she turns to comedies Superbad and The 40 Year-Old Virgin. Rounding out her list was also stylish dramas like Black Swan,...

Bong Joon Ho, Mel Brooks and other filmmakers/actors submit their Top Films of the 21st Century for The New York Times
Image
The New York Times is determined to find the Top 100 Films of the 21st Century as voted by the public. It’s open on their website (with a paywall), but even famous actors and filmmakers in the movie business are getting in on the action. According to the Borrowing Tape page on Facebook, “The poll includes ‘more than 500 influential directors, actors and other notable names in Hollywood and around the world voted on the best films released since Jan. 1, 2000.'” They have shared the lists that were compiled by Bong Joon Ho, Sofia Coppola, Julianne Moore, Mel Brooks, Mikey Madison, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Ava DuVernay.

Bong Joon Ho, whose Mickey 17 was released earlier this year, submitted his picks for the Top 9 Films of the 21st Century. His list includes films like Asako, No Country for Old Men, Lazzaro Felice, Mad Max: Fury Road, Stranger by the Lake, The Day He Arrives,...

Mel Brooks Names His Favorite Movies of the 21st Century
Image
Because “lists for people to argue about on social media” are more financially dependable than “journalism,” The New York Times recently published their list of the “Top 100 Best Movies of the 21st Century” — or, at least they published numbers 100 through 81. They’re going to drag this thing out for as long as humanly possible, à la Adrien Brody’s Oscar speech.

The paper reached out to “more than 500 influential directors, actors and other notable names in Hollywood” to vote on “the best films released since Jan. 1, 2000.” That means that 2000’s Dude Where’s My Car is 100 percent eligible and could still crack the top 80.

They’re also letting readers create their own ballots, which obviously won’t be counted towards the same list, but it’s nice to feel included, isn’t it?

The roster of notable filmmakers that contributed to the list includes big names like Bong Joon Ho,...

Sarah Adler in Dead Language (2025)
Enjoy the silence by Anne-Katrin Titze
Sarah Adler in Dead Language (2025)
Dead Language directors Mihal Brezis and Oded Binnun with music producer/99 Records founder Ed Bahlman and Anne-Katrin Titze on Depeche Mode’s Enjoy the Silence: “We couldn't imagine any other song there.”

Reshuffling the syntax of couple behaviour may be the only way to bring the relationship back from the dead. This is a film of missed appointments and of 'letters' sent, to paraphrase Lacan, that despite all odds, always arrive at their destination.

Mihal Brezis and Oded Binnun’s fearlessly original and smart Dead Language (a highlight in the Viewpoints programme of the 24th edition of the Tribeca Festival), evolving out of their Oscar-nominated short, Aya, begins in the arrival area of an airport, where Aya, instead of picking up her husband Aviad pretends to be the driver for the unwitting Mr. Esben (Ulrich Thompsen of Thomas Vinterberg’s Festen), who is in Jerusalem on a...

Her | What OpenAI CEO Sam Altman gets wrong about his favourite film
Image
OpenAI sees 2013’s Her as a vision of a utopian future where everyone loves their AI products. But it’s really about people, not tech.

Nb: The following contains spoilers for Her.

It isn’t science fiction’s job to predict the future, but occasionally, the genre still throws out some prescient ideas. Case in point: writer-director Spike Jonze’s Her – the 2013 drama about a lonely guy who falls in love with an AI operating system. It was conceived long before the generative AI epoch we’re living through today, and yet feels recognisably of a piece with the current era of intelligent-seeming chatbots that help people cheat on their geography coursework.

Her certainly has one high-profile admirer: Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI. In early June, tech journalist and author Karen Hao suggested that Altman is “deeply obsessed” with Jonze’s movie, adding that he’s “evoked throughout OpenAI...

Chanel Returns to New York City for Its Star-Studded 18th Annual Tribeca Artists Dinner
Image
Chanel celebrated the return of the hottest, most star-studded event of the Tribeca Festival Monday, June 9: Its 18th annual Tribeca Artists Dinner at The Odeon in New York City. The evening celebrates visual artists who have contributed original artwork to films at the festival, highlighting the intersection of creative fields — the fine arts and filmmaking — and the city’s innovation in cultural practices and happenings.

“We’re all working together and these are our collaborators, so it’s always great to support other filmmakers,” Sofia Coppola said on the red carpet. “These are all people that you get to know over the years. I have friends that are artists and, of course, as a visual medium, I think we respect each other. I’m always inspired by the work of visual artists and other mediums, and I always love meeting other creative people.”

Clint Eastwood Directed A Short Movie That's Impossible To Watch Today
Image
From television cowboy to one of the most instantly recognizable movie stars in the world, no one does it like Clint Eastwood. There's an irony to the man with no name, a character made famous by Sergio Leone's deeply influential "Dollars" trilogy, becoming so ingrained in pop culture that his signature squint alone transcends generations. Eastwood could have lived off his acting roles for the rest of his career. He was so popular that one of the highest grossing films of 1978 was "Every Which Way But Loose," a leisurely road trip comedy with Eastwood as a truck driver/bar brawler traveling the country with his trusty orangutan buddy. He's nothing, if not adaptable, proving countless times that he's also one of the industry's most restless talents by way of his expansive director's portfolio.

For the past five decades, Eastwood has taken a stab at just about every genre from...

Richard Linklater’s Latest Film to Open Chanel-Backed Nouvelles Vagues Festival in Biarritz With Sofia Coppola Set as Guest of Honor
Image
Richard Linklater’s “Nouvelle Vague,” a cinematic love letter to the French New Wave which bowed at Cannes, will aptly kick off the third edition of the Biarritz Film Festival, also called Nouvelles Vagues, on June 24.

On the following day, Sofia Coppola, the festival’s guest of honor, will attend a screening of “Virgin Suicides” to celebrate its 25-year anniversary and take part in a masterclass before an audience filled with film students.

Coppola’s presence at the festival reflects the involvement of Chanel, a partner of the festival whose mantra is to shine a spotlight on young talent in front and behind the camera. Chanel hosted a glamorous dinner at the Grand Café du Grand Palais in Paris in honor of the festival on June 3.

Along with Nouvelles Vagues founder and president Jérôme Pulis, general delegate Sandrine Brauer and programming director Lili Hinstin, and Chanel president of fashion Bruno Pavlovsky,...

The Godfather III Is a Secret Masterpiece If You Watch the Right Version (& It Has a New Streaming Home)
Image
One of the most underrated (and rarely screened) Godfatherfilms has a new streaming home.

Paramount+ has just given a critically underrated chapter of The Godfather a new streaming home. As of now, The Godfather Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone is available for streaming on Paramount+.

The final entry in director Francis Ford Coppola's The Godfather trilogy, The Godfather Part III premiered in 1990 to some particularly scathing reviews from critics. Whereas the previous two films were hailed as some of the greatest pieces of cinema of all time, The Godfather Part III was met with widespread derision as a stand-alone feature largely unconnected to the series' overarching narrative. That being said, The Godfather Part III was also criticized for being unable to truly stand on its own without audiences already being intimately familiar with the preceding films.

Despite these criticisms, The Godfather Part III was still a major success at the box office.

Nicole Kidman at an event for The Paperboy (2012)
The Steely Southern Women of Sofia Coppola’s ‘The Beguiled’ [The Lady Killers Podcast]
Nicole Kidman at an event for The Paperboy (2012)
“If we learn our lessons properly when young, we can expect a calm and happy life when faced with the distractions of the world.”

Young women in the Civil War-era south were raised to accomplish very specific goals. They were expected to memorize the rules of polite society, learn domestic skills useful in maintaining a home, and develop beguiling talents to reel in potential suitors. But above all, they must remain innocent and pure, never challenging the authority of a man or bringing his motives into question. The students of Martha Farnsworth’s Seminary for Young Ladies have learned their lessons well, but a fox in their peaceful henhouse awakens murderous strength they didn’t know they possessed.

As the headmistress of this exclusive finishing school, Miss Martha (Nicole Kidman) spends her days minding the property and watching for passing troops on both sides of the conflict. One day while...

26 Oscar-Winning Celebrities Who Also Have Razzies
Image
In the ‘90s, Tom Hanks was the star to beat. He starred in multiple critically acclaimed dramas and cemented his legacy as a leading man by winning Oscars for his roles in Philadelphia (1993) and Forrest Gump (1994). But even award-winning actors have off days, which explains his performance as Colonel Tom Parker in Elvis.

Hanks’ uncharacteristically bad depiction of The King’s manager horrified critics. David Erlich called the role “possibly the most insufferable movie character ever conceived,” and wasn’t alone in thinking so — the portrayal earned Hanks two Golden Raspberry Awards: one for Worst Supporting Actor and another for Worst On-Screen Combo, which went to his accent and his awful prosthetics.

Of course, other stars know what it’s like to possess such duality. Here are more Oscar-winning performers and the films they won Razzies for, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Will Smith and Joaquin Phoenix.

Josh Hartnett Didn’t Even Want to Act in Films but Accidentally Stole the 1998 Cult Classic Role
Image
Before he became the brooding heartthrob of the late ’90s, Josh Hartnett wasn’t even trying to be famous. Seriously, he didn’t dream of red carpets or blockbuster premieres—instead Hartnett just wanted to direct artsy films and geek out over Federico Fellini. But life had other plans, and in poetic irony, the actor accidentally fell into acting—and totally stole the show in a 1998 cult classic.

In a wild twist of fate, as recalled by Josh Hartnett during his Vanity Fair interview, the actor mentioned how director Robert Rodriguez’s The Faculty was the first film he was cast in, although Halloween H20: 20 Years Later, became his first feature film. During the interview, Hartnett then reflected on how he landed the role of Zeke, even though he didn’t care enough to read the script.
