Very few celebrity breakdowns have compared to what Charlie Sheen inflicted on himself and the general public, particularly between 2009 and 2015. He got himself fired from Two and a Half Men, went on a public tour defined by the slogan “#winning” and being inebriated and ruined a handful of lives during the height of his addiction. With the benefit of 14 years somewhat softening the extreme behavior, it might seem like what Sheen got up to in the 2010s wasn’t that big of a deal.
But with a new Netflix documentary, aka Charlie Sheen, slated to air on September 10th, there’s no doubt that the public will begin extensively rehashing the very big deal that was Sheen’s absolutely out-of-control run while in the depths of his substance abuse. The trailer, which was released on September 13th, offers a first look at the film from director Andrew Prezi.

Charlie Sheen is ready to tell you everything — even the things he vowed only to tell his therapist. That’s the promise the former “Two and a Half Men” star makes in the first trailer for “aka Charlie Sheen,” a new two-part documentary from Netflix and director Andrew Renzi about its eponymous subject’s very public rise and fall.
The trailer teases the series’ confessional format and its interviews with Sheen himself, fellow celebrities Sean Penn, Denise Richards, Jon Cryer, Chris Tucker, Chuck Lorre and Ramon Estevez, as well as one of Sheen’s former drug dealers and former Los Angeles madam Heidi Fleiss.
“I lit the fuse, you know, and my life [turned] into everything it wasn’t supposed to be,” Sheen reflects in the trailer about his reckless behavior and the downfall it caused. “Everything was fine for a while. Nobody got hurt. Nobody got arrested… for a while.

Charlie Sheen’s infamous 2011 drug-fueled meltdown that led to his firing from CBS’ Two and a Half Men is the stuff of Hollywood legend.

Winning. Netflix has acquired the two-part documentary film “aka Charlie Sheen,” which chronicles the star’s struggle with fame — leading to his infamous 2011 firing from “Two and a Half Men” — followed by his path to sobriety. The film will launch Sept. 10 on the streamer, which also shared key art and a trailer (scroll down to watch below).
Having tempered his tiger blood ways, Sheen opens up for the documentary, which also speaks to family, friends and cast members including Denise Richards, Heidi Fleiss, Jon Cryer, Sean Penn, Ramon Estevez, Brooke Mueller, Chris Tucker and even Sheen’s drug dealer Marco. Sheen has been on a bit of a redemption tour for sometime, having since patched things up with “Two and a Half Men” exec producer Chuck Lorre — and even appearing in Lorre’s “Bookie.”

Fun fact: my default Halloween costume has always been Lex Luthor. As a proudly bald man with several spiffy suits, it’s an easy role to pull off every year—though I’ll sometimes mix it up and go as Agent 47 from the Hitman video game. Because of this, I’ve always felt a certain kinship with “the greatest criminal mind of our time”… even if you’d never know it from watching most movie versions. That’s right—Lex Luthor on the big screen has always kind of sucked.
On TV, however, they nailed him. Michael Rosenbaum delivered the definitive portrayal on Smallville. But in films? No one has truly matched the potential of the character. Let’s take a look at each big-screen version.
Gene Hackman
I’ll start by saying I have nothing but respect for Gene Hackman as an actor—he might even be the finest actor of his generation.

Jon Cryer is not interested in a Two and a Half Men Reboot (Photo Credit – Amazon Prime Video)
During an appearance on The View in February 2024, Jon Cryer flat-out rejected the notion of bringing back the popular CBS comedy, Two and a Half Men, that was on air from 2003 to 2015, Variety reported.
When asked about the possibility of a reboot, Cryer was candid: “Oh gosh, oh gosh. Yeah, I don’t know how that happens.” He acknowledged that Charlie Sheen is doing better now, which is “wonderful,” but pointed out that they haven’t been in touch for a few years.
Jon Cryer also mentioned the fallout between Sheen and Two and a Half Men producer Chuck Lorre, who was deeply affected by the rift. “That they have reconciled is really lovely,” Cryer added, referring to Sheen and Lorre’s renewed friendship after their dramatic split.

Superman is back on top thanks to James Gunn's newest film. Despite some loud, petulant voices online, 2025's "Superman" has been met with largely positive praise, including from /Film's Chris Evangelista. Whether it's too silly or convoluted is a matter of personal taste, but it feels like there's one thing everyone can agree on: It's better than 1987's "Superman IV: The Quest for Peace."
1978's "Superman: The Movie" received three sequels (not including "Supergirl" starring Helen Slater) in under a decade, with "Quest for Peace" largely seen as the worst "Superman" film of all time. The movie sees the Man of Steel (Christopher Reeve) trying to undo the effects of nuclear armament around the globe. Meanwhile, Lex Luthor (Gene Hackman) returns following a prison break orchestrated by his nephew, Lenny Luthor, played by a young Jon Cryer.
That's right, before Cryer was a sitcom staple on "Two and a Half Men,...

Securing a recurring role on a TV series can be a dream come true for a lot of actors. So often, the Hollywood life consists of going from one audition to the next, taking time out of your day when you could make money elsewhere, hoping that something will stick. Even if you land a commercial gig, the job may only last for a few days or maybe a week until you have to get back at it again. But a TV role offers security and the knowledge your face will really get out there and make it easier landing jobs in the future.
Of course, sometimes the dream of being a TV fixture turns into a nightmare. Whether it's being uncomfortable with a show's material or not getting along with co-workers, these actors ended up hating their most popular shows.

Two and a Half Men appeared past its prime once the controversy surrounding Charlie Sheen escalated, resulting in his eventual exit from the sitcom. However, Chuck Lorre was not ready to just give up on one of his biggest shows this easily.
He rebooted the series with a new character and actor joining the equation, Ashton Kutcher as Walden Schmidt, a billionaire who buys and moves into Charlie’s beach house after his ‘apparent’ death. Despite reintroducing the series with fresh energy, many still didn’t receive it well. However, amid the popular perception that the show lost itself in the controversy, Two and a Half Men still delivered some great episodes.
Here are the top 10 best episodes that kept the laughter going even after losing its lead star amid such a massive controversy.

Every different iteration of the Superman story has its own version of Lex Luthor scheming and plotting to take down the Man of Steel—each sharing certain similar eccentricities and egomaniac tendencies but retaining individuality at the same time. Gene Hackman portrayed a classic version of the billionaire supervillain in Christopher Reeve’s Superman movies, whereas Michael Rosenbaum’s frenemy relationship with Tom Welling’s version of Superman in Smallville was unmatched. Both Jon Cryer and Michael Cudlitz were excellent as menacing, vengeful Luthor in CW’s Arrowverse as they opposed Tyler Hoechlin’s version of Superman and Melissa Benoist’s Supergirl. Performances like these already posed a challenge for Nicholas Hoult, who played the most recent iteration of Lex Luthor in live action in Superman, and after seeing the movie I can easily say that he not only carried the burden of expectations with ease but also set a...

On July 24, 1987, the Christopher Reeve era of the Man of Steel concluded with Superman IV’s release in theaters. The film didn’t hit with audiences like its predecessors and collected $30 million in global box office grosses. The Hollywood Reporter’s original review is below:
Expect a decent opening for this the fourth outing in the Superman series, followed by a rapid fall in box-office results.
Although on the surface the film appears to have the requisite number of spectacular action sequences the plugging of a volcano with the sawn-off tip of another mountain, the rescue of a hijacked Statue of Liberty from a flying superrival (among other things) the feeling grows that the writers, in an attempt to add excitement, resorted to piling one cinematographic experience on top of the other. The excess doesn’t create spectacle, however. Mostly, it just looks stale.

Amidst the escalating migrant crisis in America, a wave of concern is echoing through Hollywood as celebrities publicly condemn the harsh immigration policies under Donald Trump. Now, the league of star power, which previously included the likes of Mark Ruffalo and Pedro Pascal, has been joined by none other than Star Wars: Andor actor Diego Luna.
In a recent candid interview, the star renowned for spectacularly bringing Cassian Andor to life, called the situation a “very sad, very dark” time. In a recent candid interview, the star renowned for spectacularly bringing Cassian Andor to life, called the situation a “very sad, very dark” time. Not only did he reflect on the trauma, instability, and systemic dehumanization that families are facing, but also didn’t hesitate to express empathy with the migrants currently battling deportation and separation.

America saw a powerful response to President Donald Trump’s military parade with the nationwide No Kings protest, held across major and small cities, including Los Angeles. Among the thousands who participated were several notable Hollywood figures, including Two and a Half Men star Jon Cryer.
Cryer not only joined the protest but also made a subtle yet striking statement by wearing an Andor-inspired shirt. With its Rebel Alliance-style design and message, the shirt echoed the series’ anti-fascist themes, adding a symbolic layer to his presence at what has become one of the largest protest waves in recent American history.
Why Jon Cryer’s ‘Andor‘ statement at the Donald Trump protest is turning heads online?

"The Big Bang Theory" has a reputation for being a rigorously fact-checked show, as well as a family-friendly sitcom that's far better known for "Bazinga" than boinking. Still, the show does have more than its share of naughtiness. Among its assorted spicy-ish moments is one memorably raunchy "The Big Bang Theory" episode that got banned in the UK, as well as a classic scene in season 6, episode 10, "The Fish Guts Displacement," which revolved around Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons) having to spank Mayim Bialik's Amy Farrah Fowler (something Parsons had an amusingly hard time shooting).
That being said, "The Big Bang Theory" creator Chuck Lorre -- who already had the far naughtier hit sitcom "Two and a Half Men" under his belt -- originally intended to make the geek-themed show far dirtier than the finished product ultimately was. During a panel discussion at PaleyFest 2016, Lorre explained how the audience feedback...

When you think of movies that perfectly define the 2000s as a decade, "Mean Girls" should be a film that pops up frequently in conversation. Based on Rosalind Wiseman's book "Queen Bees and Wannabes," the high school comedy is the brainchild of "Saturday Night Alive" alum Tina Fey, shortly before her transition to TV with one of the best sitcoms of all time, "30 Rock." In a time when comedy films were dominated by men, "Mean Girls" set itself apart as a generational 2000s comedy centered on teenage girls, without sacrificing the raunchiness and drama that populated movies set in all boys schools.
After being imprinted on pop culture for over 20 years, even inspiring a musical-turned-movie in 2024, "Mean Girls" has influenced a lot of teen comedies over the past two decades. However, there were films decades earlier than "Mean Girls...

During Two and a Half Men‘s heyday, Charlie Sheen and Jon Cryer were raking in some hefty paychecks, and the former even stood out for becoming one of the highest-paid actors on TV in 2010. Reasonably, one would expect one of them to be one of the wealthiest actors to emerge from the sitcom, especially Sheen, who held the title for being one of the richest TV stars at one point.
Surprisingly, none of their riches hold a candle to Ashton Kutcher’s net worth, who, despite being a late addition to the sitcom, has managed to surpass his Cryer and Sheen in terms of net worth.

"The movie is really about the passing of time," Brats director Andrew McCarthy tells Gold Derby. "I turned 60 not that long ago and I realized that I had begun to look at events of my life in a different way than I used to."
For the first time in decades, McCarthy reunites with fellow Brat Packers Emilio Estevez, Rob Lowe, Demi Moore, and Ally Sheedy, along with other stars of that era like Jon Cryer, Timothy Hutton, and Lea Thompson, to discuss their rise to stardom in the 1980s and how the term "Brat Pack" — coined by journalist David Blum in an article for New York Magazine — impacted their careers.
Reflecting further, McCarthy says his fascination lies less with the Brat Pack itself and more with how perspectives on life evolve with time. "When I was 22, we hated it — all of us," he says. "We felt stigmatized — it was very limiting.

Nicholas Hoult breaks down his take on Lex Luthor in the upcoming Superman, which sounds like the villain's most dangerous incarnation. Lex Luthor is Superman's arch enemy and has been interpreted in various ways by Gene Hackman, Jesse Eisenberg, Michael Rossenbaum, and Jon Cryer, to name a few. Hoult, who originally auditioned for Superman, is tasked with putting a fresh spin on a villain that audiences have seen countless times.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Hoult broke down his vision of Lex Luthor. While many would call Luthor a mad scientist, director James Gunn described him as a "sorcerer of science," a description Hoult agrees with, saying he has such an understanding of technology that it seems to verge on supernatural. Hoult wanted Luthor to be intimidating, describing the character as "an alpha." Hoult acknowledged that he did draw some inspiration from tech moguls like Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, but...

Who could imagine "Two and a Half Men" without Jon Cryer's meek Alan Harper alongside Charlie Sheen's arrogant Charlie today? Looking back at the sitcom's 12-season run, it's evident that the show has become a tremendous success mainly because of the two actors' rambunctious chemistry on screen. The casting was pitch-perfect for these types of characters, and one of the series' creators, Chuck Lorre — aka the King of Sitcoms — had a pivotal role in getting Cryer for the part despite some pretty heavy pushback from CBS, where the show aired from 2003 to 2015.
During the casting process for "Two and a Half Men," the network made it clear from the get-go that they didn't want Jon Cryer. Not to audition, star, or have anything to do with the show whatsoever, if they could help it. Lorre has been open about this condition in several interviews since, and in one he gave for Wwny-TV,...

When Two and a Half Men came out, it didn’t take long to become a major favorite among fans for all its components that made it stand out from the rest. Curated by the mastermind Chuck Lorre, it had the most wonderful cast and turned out to be a sitcom loved and remembered by fans and viewers even years after concluding its run and getting off the air.
From the outstanding casting choices made by the people behind the lens to the unparalleled storylines devised, everything was pretty much perfect on that TV show. But, perhaps, the one thing that made the series stick out and left a lasting impact on fans was none other than the epic theme song, which was the result of a ‘boneheadedly simple’ decision from Lorre.

It’s not uncommon for some of the most popular performances of an actor to overshadow their brief appearances in other hit shows. And something similar happened with the Two and a Half Men star, Jon Cryer, whose iconic roles in the CBS sitcom have somewhat buried his other performances, like his appearance in NCIS.
The long-running military police procedural series is still going strong even after 22 seasons and remains one of the most-watched shows on television. Surprisingly, Cryer joined the series not just for a cameo, but appeared in a total of three episodes.

James Spader’s career has been defined by his television career with hits like Boston Legal and The Blacklist under his belt. As a result, his film career has mostly been forgotten, except for perhaps his only cult-hit movie from the 1980s, which also features Young Sheldon actress Annie Potts.
Despite having aged slightly poorly, the film in question also launched several other actors to superstardom. As a result, it sits as a bit of an anomaly in his career, especially since Spader himself does not speak about the movie during his already limited public appearances. Here is everything you need to know about Spader’s cult classic movie that is almost 40 years old.

Despite all his shortcomings as a protagonist, it’s safe to say Charlie’s wit and ability to deliver quick jabs remain unmatched. And while he can certainly come off as unlikeable, as many of his antics were borderline problematic, which hasn’t aged well with time, fans certainly enjoyed his disses, especially the ones geared toward Judith.
Marin Hinkle’s Judith remains arguably one of the least likeable characters from the show, which is saying something, and Charlie Harper’s banter with the character was always a treat to watch, especially in the early seasons.

“You can’t always get what you want…” — The Rolling Stones weren’t kidding. You know, love can be like that favorite vinyl record we scratched a little too hard — still playable, still beautiful, but never quite the same again. Some tracks, though, are worth replaying. And it seems Charlie Sheen is reaching for the needle one more time.
Lately, we’ve been watching this unlikely mellowing of Sheen and his ex-wife, Denise Richards. Insiders whisper that his feelings for Richards are back — strong as ever. But love isn’t a boomerang. Sometimes it doesn’t swing back — no matter how earnestly you throw it. And Richards? She’s still married to Aaron Phypers. So as much as Sheen’s heart might be knocking on her door, life may have changed the locks.

Chuck Lorre has created some of the best known comedies around! There's so many familiar titles when you look at his list of work, and it's very impressive to see. One of the biggest ones of course is The Big Bang Theory (Tbbt), which has become a full-fledged franchise now with the original series, prequel shows Young Sheldon and Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage, and now even a spin-off that could get the green light at Max called Stuart Fails to Save the Universe.
Though Lorre is known for other shows as well. Some are a hit, and some are a miss for various reasons. So if you're a fan of the creator and want to know which ones are worth your time and which ones aren't, you've come to the right place. Here's 3 Chuck Lorre shows to watch and 3 to skip.

Needless to say, a great TV show isn’t made just by its lead—it’s the supporting characters, those unsung heroes, who often steal the spotlight. Two and a Half Men is a perfect case in point. Sure, Charlie Sheen’s Charlie Harper was the quintessential party animal, indulging in every vice under the sun, but what truly brought the show its heart was Jon Cryer’s portrayal of Alan Harper.
Charlie’s wild escapades wouldn’t have been half as entertaining without Alan’s bumbling, awkward, yet surprisingly heartfelt personality as the anchor that kept it all from falling apart.

When Two and a Half Men hit the CBS network in 2003, it quickly became one of the most talked-about shows on television. The main credit for this goes to the risqué and bold humor of the show and, of course, actor Charlie Sheen. He played the womanizer jingle writer Charlie Harper that the fans came to love a lot.
Now, fast forward two decades, while the rest of the cast has aged significantly, Sheen looks almost exactly the same.

Let’s just call it what it is: Charlie Sheen has never been one to hold back. And on that fateful day in 2017, he took his unfiltered nature to new heights when he casually trashed his former co-star Jennifer Grey in front of a live audience. We mean, here’s a guy who thinks no filter is the best filter, and frankly, it often lands him in hot water.
When asked about his past leading ladies, Sheen didn’t just rank them; he essentially bulldozed their reputations. His harsh words for Jennifer Grey, famously known for her role in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, were nothing short of vile.

Charlie Sheen led the hit sitcom Two and a Half Men for nearly a decade before his exit from the series. However, despite the controversies, his character, Charlie Sheen, remains iconic, though many criticize him for being an irresponsible, selfish, alcoholic womanizer with no sense of responsibility toward others.
However, Charlie Harper might not be the worst character in the series, as it is widely believed that Alan Harper, played by Jon Cryer, is the one who deserves the title for being a freeloading parasite who only got worse with time.

Famous for its risqué humor, Two and a Half Men immediately caught everyone’s attention when it premiered in 2003. With Charlie Sheen and Jon Cryer leading the way as the Harper brothers, the show was destined to be a hit. Sheen played the womanizer Charlie Harper and had a string of romantic relationships to his name.
But while some made sense, others were just downright absurd. Perfectly fitting the latter was Courtney (his stepsister), played by actress Jenny McCarthy. Unlike others, she was a part of several episodes.

While she quickly became a fan favorite, in a recent interview the actress detailed a major health scare that could have been fatal.

Have you ever seen a sitcom unravel like an onion—layer by colorful layer—until it brings tears to your eyes? Charlie Sheen’s 2012 revelation is like dropping a pebble into a pond, causing ripples that touch everyone in its reach.
So, what’s brewing in the world of comedy television that’s got tongues wagging? Following Angus T. Jones’ scathing categorization of Two and a Half Men as “filth”, it took Sheen no time to chime in with his own spicy commentary, suggesting that the show might be cursed.

When you think of Two and a Half Men, a few things immediately come to mind, crude humor, womanizing, and a complete disregard for anything resembling moral decency. This is a show where the characters are either morally ambiguous or outright terrible people, and that’s exactly why fans loved it.
In 2012, Miley Cyrus made a guest appearance as Missi, a fast-talking, overly enthusiastic young woman who brought an energy level that was practically illegal for this show. Some fans thought she was hilarious, a breath of fresh air in a sea of morally corrupt characters. Others? Well, let’s just say they were ready to change the channel faster than Charlie Harper could down a bottle of whiskey.

Missi was unlike any other character that had stepped into the dysfunctional Malibu beach house.

Angus T. Jones, best known for his role as Jake Harper on Two and a Half Men, appeared to be a rising TV star amid the success of the sitcom. Starring alongside Charlie Sheen and Jon Cryer, he became one of television’s most recognizable child stars.
However, the same show that catapulted him to fame also marked the end of his acting career. Jones left the hit CBS sitcom following Sheen’s controversial exit and has since stepped away from the industry.

Years later, the actor reflected on his exit, comparing his experience in Hollywood to navigating a minefield, suggesting that every step felt uncertain and fraught with risk.

When Chuck Lorre initially ventured into his quest to find a replacement for Charlie Sheen, who was practically the face of Two and a Half Men, he had no intentions of casting an actor who was in their 30s. However, things changed after he met Ashton Kutcher, whose fearless approach and comedic instincts had Lorre convinced that Kutcher was the man for the job.

As for the reception to this decision, it was pretty mixed, as not many were thrilled to welcome the new dynamic between Walden and Alan. But this issue could’ve been avoided entirely if they had just promoted another fan-favorite member of the sitcom to the lead.
