Jeff was a member of the acting company of the Circle Repertory Theatre Company of New York.

Started a theatre company of his own in his hometown of Chelsea, Michigan, called the Purple Rose Theatre, named after the Woody Allen film in which he starred. The theatre produces new works, and Jeff has written several plays that have been staged there.

Matthew Warchus was director.
