Patty Maloney, an actress whose 30-plus year career included memorable turns on Little House on the Prairie, Syd & Marty Krofft’s Far Out Space Nuts, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century and the Star Wars Holiday Special, has died. Her passing was confirmed via a post on the official Syd & Marty Krofft Facebook page. She was 89.

Maloney stood 3 feet 11 inches and weighed about 60 pounds. Her stature and pantomime stills meant she often worked in costume. And work she did, with memorable roles on some of the most popular TV shows of the ’70s an ’80s.

On her first series, the actress played the furry and funny Honk on the Kroffts’ Far Out Space Nuts, a character who spoke only in horn-like honks. The show was a Saturday morning staple for kids in the ’70s, especially via syndication. She also appeared on 13 episodes of The Krofft Superstar Hour and other of the duo’s shows.

Pulp-influenced, space-faring comic book heroes from Flash Gordon to Star-Lord can tip their hat to Buck Rogers, who debuted on the funny pages in 1929 and paved the way for the medium's future sci-fi protagonists. Though Legendary and Skydance have been developing their dueling "Buck Rogers" projects in recent years, the character's pop culture prevalence isn't quite what it used to be. Back in the day, however, Rogers received more than his share of attention. The character soon leaped from the page to a long-running radio series, a 1939 movie starring Buster Crabbe -- who, funnily enough, was also the go-to Flash Gordon actor of the era -- and a short-lived 1950 TV show.

Veteran soap actor Thom Christopher has died. The One Life to Live alum, who portrayed mob boss Carlo Hesser and his twin Mortimer Bern on the soap, was 84 when he passed. His former television son, Anthony Crivello, who portrayed Johnny, confirmed his death on social media.

He was always a gentleman, always supportive, and he and his wife Judith who proceeded him in death, where [sic] always gracious to me and welcoming. Thom and I worked together on the ABC daytime series One Life to Live in the 1990s…. It was a wonderful time, difficult hours and long days, but joyful each minute. May Thom fly on Wings of Angels to be beside his beloved Judith, and may they enjoy each other’s company once again, beside the ‘Pearly Gates’ of heaven.

Felix Silla, the actor who donned the full-body hair suit and bowler hat as Cousin Itt on the original The Addams Family television series, has died at the age of 84.

Silla, who also played the robot Twiki on the sci-fi series Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, died Friday following battle with pancreatic cancer, the Hollywood Reporter writes.

Stuntman and actor Felix Silla, best known for his role as Cousin Itt on The Addams Family, has sadly passed away. A longtime resident of Las Vegas, Nevada, Silla reportedly died on Friday following a battle with pancreatic cancer. The news was revealed by Gil Gerard, Silla's co-star on the NBC series Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, with a poster on Twitter. Silla was 84 years old.

"Felix died just a few hours ago and the only good I can draw from his passing is that he didn't suffer any longer," Gerard wrote. "I will miss him terribly, especially the great time we had at our panels. Just him telling me to, 'go 'f' myself.'"

Silla’s death on Friday comes after a battle with pancreatic cancer. He was a longtime resident of Las Vegas, where he used to perform with his own musical combo, “The Original Harmonica Band,” between movies.

Born in a small village just outside Rome, Italy in January 1937, Silla came to the United States in 1955. A trained circus performer, he toured with the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Show, which ultimately led him to Hollywood.

“A producer dreamed it up in some nightmare,” he said, adding that the original costume was made of real human hair.

Exclusive: A growing dust-up over classic outer space hero Buck Rogers isn’t a fight over rights, and it won’t be warming up to become one if Legendary Entertainment has anything to say about it.

The Buck Rogers estate, overseen by the Nowlan Family Trust, on Tuesday fired off a cease-and-desist letter to Legendary about its recent announcement that it was developing a TV reboot of the popular sci-fi property. The movie star, along with producing partner Grant Heslov, is set to executive-produce for Legendary a limited TV series about the iconic sci-fi character, who — one way or another, depending on which take you’ve read/watched — gets trapped in suspended animation for some 500 years, eventually waking up in the 25th century.

George Clooney, fresh from The Midnight Sky, is set to exec produce the television reboot of Buck Rogers.

Clooney and his Smokehouse co-founder Grant Heslov have joined the project, which is being written by comic book artist and Lost writer Brian K. Vaughan. Legendary is the studio.

Although no acting deals are in place, reports suggest that Clooney is being lined up to star.

The pair will exec produce with Angry Films’ Don Murphy and Susan Montford and Flint Dille, the grandson of John F. Dille, the publisher of the original Buck Rogers comic strip.

It is based on the character created by Philip Francis Nowlan in 1928, which was later turned into a television series – Buck Rogers in the 25th Century for NBC. The show ran for two seasons from 1979.

Buck Rogers is making a comeback in the 21st century. Legendary Pictures is closing a deal for the rights to the classic sci-fi franchise, with designs on bringing the hero to the big screen for modern audiences. What's more, the studio sees this as a possible franchise play. Should things pan out, they will also produce TV shows, anime and other projects based on the source material. “Transformers” producer Don Murphy set up the project at Legendary and is producing through his Angry Films banner along with Susan Montford.

The project is based on the “Armageddon 2419 A.D.” novella by Philip Francis Nowlan that introduced the Buck Rogers character in 1928. The story centers on a coal mine inspector who awakens from suspended animation after 500 years to find himself in the middle of a planetary war.

Once synonymous with science fiction, the phrase ‘That Buck Rogers Stuff’ once called to mind everything the average person thought about Science Fiction - ray guns, rocket ships and robots. Certainly in the 1928, when the then-christened Anthony Rogers made his debut, he was something pretty unique in Sci-Fi - the space adventurer as swash-buckler. Given the nickname ‘Buck’ by John F. Dille, the novel, Armageddon, was adapted into the comic strips in 1929 and then in 1932, Buck Rogers became the first major Science Fiction radio drama. 1939 saw Larry ‘Buster’ Crabbe take on the role for a 12-part serial. All of this is to say that Buck Rogers was around for quite a while before many people of my generation discovered him.

After a lot of buzz around the Cival War ghost story Blood Fare, the film is finally seeing its first world premiere.

Blood Fare will be screened at Dragon*Con 2012 in Atlanta Georgia on August 31st.

Columbus, Oh -- If you're dying to know what intergalactic badass Billy Dee Williams wants as his final meal, and if a guitar serenade from "Buffy The Vampire Slayer"'s James Marsters melts your heart like butter, you may have been one of the thousands of sci-fi and fantasy fans geeking it up this weekend at the Mid-Ohio Comic Con.

Just be warned that at this bash, Adam West, TV's "Batman" from the 1960s, is still too big a star to pose for a photograph, unless you pony up $125 (which I didn't do).

But for the most part, it was a swinging costume party, with star-studded guests. Burt Ward, who played the Caped Crusader's sidekick Robin, more than made up for West's misplaced arrogance. And the costumes these people wore were not to be missed.

Writer-director Ja Steel has announced that Warner Bros Motion Picture Imaging has completed digital colouring on the historical horror project, her fourth feature film.

Blood Fare is the tale of Corporal Henry Trout (S. Edward Meek), who in 1861 fought valiantly in a forgotten skirmish after the first battle of Bull Run.

He comes face to face with his descendants, fifth-generation grandchildren Tyler (Brandi Lynn Anderson from upcoming Syfy series Zeros) and Chad (Adrian West) as the battle for blood continues on a haunted battlefield 150 years later.

Gil Gerard plays Tyler's mentor Professor Meade, while Kim Sonderholm appears alongside Gerard as Professor Malick.
