Is the Lovers & Friends Festival Actually Fyre Fest 2.0? No, but There Was a Lot a Drama
Lauryn Hill
At this point, you've probably seen something on social media about the Lovers & Friends festival, scheduled for May 9 in Los Angeles. A slew of artist accusations and conflicting info has led to the festival being dubbed Fyre Fest 2.0, but in reality, the drama is actually a lot less complicated and messy than that.

The drama started after the festival's flyer was posted on Instagram, featuring a lineup of R&b, rap, and hip-hop artists for a festival that promises tons of '90s and '00s nostalgia. While some of the headliners, including Usher and Lauryn Hill, shared the announcement on their own social media, other artists in the lineup had a very different reaction. Lil' Kim shared the post on her Instagram stories with the caption, "This is So Fake! I am not a part of this." The story is no longer visible, but it was screencapped and shared widely,...

'Vegas': 'Alcatraz' star Sarah Jones says joining the cast was a 'no-brainer'
Sarah Jones hasn't actually filmed anything on CBS' new drama "Vegas" yet, but she can't wait to start.

Jones, who starred on Fox's "Alcatraz" last season, joined the show just a few days before appearing with her co-stars Sunday (July 29) at the Television Critics Association press tour. She'll be playing the daughter of a Chicago mobster who moves to Las Vegas to work in a casino's count room.

"I know a lot of scenes for me in the beginning of this will be going head-to-head with Michael Chiklis [who stars as a newly arrived representative of the mob in Las Vegas circa 1960], and that is exciting to me," Jones says. "To be able to work with someone that's known for the kin of work he does ... and of course the rest of the cast. It's sort of a no-brainer."

"Vegas" executive producer Greg Walker says Jones' character, Mia Rizzo, will serve a couple of purposes on the show -- including providing a counterpart to Carrie-Anne Moss.

Jason O'Mara on 'Terra Nova' axing: Fox took 'awful long time' to make 'premature decision'
Jason O'Mara
Jason O'Mara may have already lined up a new gig on CBS’s period drama Vegas, but the star still has some choice words about the cancellation of Fox’s Terra Nova.

“I felt like Fox took an awful long time to make what was ultimately a premature decision,” he told reporters today at TCA while joined on stage by Vegas stars Dennis Quaid and Michael Chiklis. “A decision could have been made earlier. However, I’d been keeping an eye on this project for a long time.”

All eyes were also on newly announced cast member Sarah Jones,...

Sarah Jones Heads to Sin City
Love Sarah Jones and am glad she’s quickly back in a new show after Alcatraz folded. Word is that the exquisite actress will be headed to CBS and their new show Vegas. In doing so she’s joining a cast that isn’t at all lacking as it is, already featuring the likes of Dennis Quaid, Michael Chiklis, Carrie Ann Moss, and Jason O’Mara. Vegas is a period drama based on a 1960s Las Vegas Sheriff named Ralph Lamb (played by Quaid).

Deadline reports that Jones herself will portray the daughter of a powerful Chicago figure who teams up with Michael Chiklis’ Vincent Savino, a Windy City gangster with his eyes on Sin City, to keep the Vegas revenue flow steady back to Chicago.

Seems to be a lot of crime on tv, and more coming, but this one is interesting because the pilot is written by Nicholas Pileggi and Greg Walker.

‘Terra Nova’s Jason O’Mara To Co-Star Opposite Dennis Quaid In Ralph Lamb Pilot
Exclusive: CBS‘ untitled Ralph Lamb drama pilot has added another prominent member to its all-star cast. Terra Nova star Jason O’Mara has been tapped to co-star in the project, joining Dennis Quaid, Michael Chiklis and Carrie-Anne Moss. For O’Mara, the pilot is in second position to prehistoric drama Terra Nova, which is still alive as talks between series producer 20th Century Fox TV and Netflix about a second season continue. O’Mara has fielded multiple pilot offers since Fox cancelled Terra Nova two weeks ago. Set in the 1960s, the untitled Ralph Lamb project, written by Goodfellas writer Nicholas Pileggi and Greg Walker and directed by James Mangold, chronicles the true story of Ralph Lamb (Quaid) – rodeo cowboy turned longtime Sheriff of Las Vegas – and Johnny Savino (Chiklis), a Chicago mob fixer whose entrepreneurial vision for transforming Las Vegas collides with the law-and-order mandate of Sheriff Lamb. TV News: Dennis Quaid, Michael Chiklis Sign Deal For CBS Cowboy Drama
Chicago – Dennis Quaid and Michael Chiklis have signed a deal with CBS to play in their new, untitled drama about a cowboy turned sheriff. However, this isn’t your Wild West, 1800s type of drama. This is the true life story of Ralph Lamb, a rodeo cowboy who became the longtime sheriff of Las Vegas in the 1960s.

Quaid and Chiklis, who will also be credited as co-executive producers on the project, will play the two leads in the series. Quaid will play Lamb, while Chiklis will portray Johnny Savino, a Chicago mobster who’s plans in Las Vegas clash with the mandate of the new sheriff.

Chiklis has seen his fair share of TV, from “The Shield” to “No Ordinary Family,” but, if picked up into series, this would be Dennis Quaid’s first full time role on the small screen.

Greg Walker and Nicholas Pileggi will write the...

Dennis Quaid at an event for Legion (2010)
If this isn’t the best piece casting news for fall, we don’t know what is: CBS just closed deals with Dennis Quaid and Michael Chiklis to star in a period piece about a real-life rodeo cowboy-turned-sheriff.

Quaid will make his series debut as Las Vegas lawdog Ralph Lamb in this untitled drama from writers Nicholas Pileggi and Greg Walker. Chiklis gets to chuck the white hat for a change and play a Chicago mob fixer named Johnny Lamb whose vision for building up Sin City doesn’t exactly gel with Lamb’s law-and-order approach.

Quaid has taken breaks...

Michael Chiklis, Dennis Quaid join Las Vegas-set CBS pilot
Dennis Quaid at an event for Legion (2010)
Dennis Quaid and Michael Chiklis have signed on for the CBS period crime drama pilot that may or may not still be called "Ralph Lamb."   The '60s-set Las Vegas pilot was written by Nicholas Pileggi ("Goodfellas")  and Greg Walker and will be directed by James Mangold ("Walk the Line"), so it's already pretty star-studded behind the scenes as well.   News that Quaid and Chiklis were circling the project broke earlier this week, well into Quaid's negotiations, but according to HollywoodReporter.com (and other sources), the deals have now closed.   Quaid will play Ralph Lamb himself, the real-life former rodeo...

Dennis Quaid and Michael Chiklis in Talks For CBS Cowboy Drama
Dennis Quaid and Michael Chiklis may star in a new CBS TV show. THR reports that the actors are in talks to star in the 1960's-set drama based on the true story of Ralph Lamb, "a rodeo cowboy-turned-longtime sheriff in Las Vegas. Quaid would star, with Chiklis playing opposite him as a Chicago mobster who moves to Vegas."

This would be Quaid's first time starring in a TV show. Chiklis is no stranger to TV, having starred in The Shield and ABC’s No Ordinary Family. The pilot is being written and exec produced by Greg Walker and Nicholas Pileggi along with James Mangold. Quaid's film roles have not been too great lately, so this might be the perfect fit for the actor. What is your favorite Dennis Quaid movie? I loved him in Innerspace and The Day After Tomorrow.

Dennis Quaid is testing the series series waters. The feature actor is in negotiations for the lead in CBS’ untitled Las Vegas period drama pilot (form. Ralph Lamb). Because of the size and the complexity of the deal, things are still moving slowly after a week of talks. Also in negotiations for the project is Michael Chiklis who is eying the pilot as part of his development/talent holding deal with CBS. The show tells the true story of Ralph Lamb, the role Quaid is in talks for – rodeo cowboy turned longtime Sheriff of Las Vegas. Former Shield star Chiklis is in negotiations to play Johnny Savino, a Chicago mobster who recently moved to Las Vegas, a ruthless killer with a polished edge. Goodfellas‘ Nicholas Pileggi co-wrote the script with Greg Walker, and James Mangold is directing. The two are executive producing with Cathy Konrad and Arthur Sarkissian.

A popular book series from Ayelet Waldman could become a drama series for fall on CBS.

The network on Thursday gave a thumbs-up to three drama pilots, including one based on Waldman’s Mommy Track Mysteries series about a former public defender who becomes a private investigator to keep from being bored to death as a stay-at-home mom.

Another drama in the works for fall comes Nicholas Pileggi (Goodfellas) and Greg Walker and is a period piece set in the 60s about Ralph Lamb — a rodeo cowboy turned longtime sheriff of Las Vegas.

Pilot Scoop: CBS Picks Up Dramas About Ralph Lamb, Private Eye Mom and a Cop/Hacker Team
Noomi Rapace in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2009)
CBS on Wednesday doled out another three pilot orders, one of which is for a drama that sounds a bit similar to this winter’s buzzy flick, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.

From former L Word showrunner Ilene Chaiken and Matrix Ep Joel Silver, Quean is a drama pilot centering on an edgy, punk-rock girl who uses her hacker skills to help an Oakland-based detective solve crimes. A li’l Lisbeth Salander-ish, no?

The network also picked up an untitled 1960s period piece about famed rodeo cowboy-turned-Las Vegas sheriff Ralph Lamb (to be executive-produced and written by Nicholas Pileggi and Greg Walker), plus Applebaum,...

CBS Teams with Goodfellas Writer for Las Vegas Drama
Nicholas Pileggi
CBS is teaming with Goodfellas writer Nicholas Pileggi to develop the drama project Ralph Lamb, set in early '60s Las Vegas, based on the true story of Ralph Lamb, a cowboy-turned-Las Vegas sheriff in the '60s and '70s.

CBS TV Studios has set James Mangold (Walk the Line) to direct. Nicholas Pileggi will co-write the script with TV writer Greg Walker.

Ralph Lamb was Clark County's longest-serving and most famous sheriff who was in charge for two decades -- from 1961 to 1979. Known as the cowboy sheriff as he was often seen riding his horse, Ralph Lamb modernized the department, brought in a modern crime lab, assembled the city's first Swat team and oversaw the merger of the Las Vegas and the county law enforcement agencies into the Metropolitan Police Department. But he was probably best known for his tough stance on the Mafia, which still controlled most...
