Nexstar’s The Hill and NewsNation are planning an all-day summit next week tied to the first six months of Donald Trump’s term.

House Speaker Mike Johnson will be among the participants in the July 16 event, called the Hill Nation Summit. It will be held from 8 a.m. Et to 5 p.m. Et.

Among the others in the lineup are White House Senior Counselor Peter Navarro; Sen. Mark Warner (D-va); David Hogg, former vice chair of the Democratic National Committee; Small Business Administrator Kelly Loeffler; former Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy; Bo Hines, executive director of the White House Council on Digital Assets; Rep. Lisa McLain (R-Mi); Rep. Vern Buchanan (R-fl); Rep. Ro Khanna (D-ca); Rep. Kevin Hern (R-ok); Rep. John James (R-Mi); Rep. Jim Jordan (R-oh); and Rep. Ted Lieu (D-ca). The signature piece of Donald Trump’s legislative agenda cleared Congress on Thursday as the House of Representatives gave its final approval after a marathon overnight session.

The vote was 218-214, with two Republicans. Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky and Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania joining all Democrats in voting against it.

Trump is expected to sign the bill Friday during a White House ceremony.

Vitali, who joined NBC News in 2012, has been Capitol Hill correspondent for NBC News and is based in Washington. On Friday, Gaetz, who is facing allegations of misconduct and illegal drug use, started charging $250 a video but soon increased that price to $500. As of 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, he started charging over $525 and had a five-star rating on the platform.

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Florida) won the GOP nomination for Florida’s first congressional district against the former naval officer Aaron Dimmock.

The Florida representative led Dimmock 70.52% to 29.48% with only the early voting and mail-in ballots counted, the Florida Division of Elections reported.

Dimmock was backed by former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy. Gaetz was one of the eight Republicans who voted to oust McCarthy in October 2023.

A heated feud between former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-California) and Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Florida) erupted once again on the floor of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee on Tuesday evening.

The two longtime political rivals exchanged tensely as Gaetz repeatedly taunted his former colleague.

As McCarthy conversed with other individuals, Gaetz approached him to repeatedly tap his shoulder and inquire about McCarthy’s speaking slot at the convention. Despite attempts to shoo Gaetz away, the congressman persisted and warned McCarthy that he would be “booed off the stage” if he took the podium.

On Friday, former Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy blamed his nemesis, Rep. Matt Gaetz, for leading the charge against him “because he had sex with an underage girl.” The former Speaker is referencing an incident the House Ethics Committee is investigating. McCarthy suggested the former president for never prosecuting “his political opponents,” facetiously asking Maher if Trump ever indicted any Democrats.

Bill Maher challenged former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy on Donald Trump’s election denialism, as the two sparred on Real Time on Friday over McCarthy’s trek to Mar-a-Lago shortly after the January 6th attack on the Capitol.

“Did he win that election, Biden?” Maher asked McCarthy.

“Yes,” McCarthy insisted.

“I said from the beginning. I have no qualms with that,” McCarthy said.

“And you actually told that to Trump?”

“Yes,” McCarthy said.

“And then you switched,” Maher said.

McCarthy protested, before Maher said, “You went down to Mar-a-Lago and kissed his ass after that.”

McCarthy called that “bulls—” and said, “You’re so full of crap.”

“I was going to see Donald Trump. He’s my friend. I served with him. Just like I do anybody else.”
