The second season of Anthony Mackie’s Twisted Metal has just been released, and it is dominating Peacock. While Anthony Mackie is best known for playing Captain America, he has several other notable works that are better examples of his acting skills, and this series is one of them. Even though the season has just been released, Flixpatrol shows that it is the second most-watched series on its streaming platform, sitting just behind Love Island.
While it is difficult to compete with reality television, Mackie’s series is certainly giving tough competition. Starring several notable names like Stephanie Beatriz, Neve Campbell, Will Arnett, and even Thomas Haden Church, season two of the series seems to be doing even better than the first, and the numbers are showing it perfectly.

“Legend of the Happy Worker” (2025) is one of David Lynch’s final projects, and it makes sense why he would be fascinated by its setup. The film, executive-produced by Lynch, takes place in a desert and almost looks like one of the golden-age Westerns. Yet, there’s something strikingly odd about the experience that you can’t put your finger on right away. The drama is operatic, even a few notches above the theatricality in your usual standard of westerns. Still, you sense that there’s something more to it than its vibrant and cheerful drama on the surface. It feels like everyone is performing for an audience, as the characters did in Lars Von Trier’s “Dogville.” It also feels like a microcosm of the world at large.
Gradually, “The Happy Worker” unpeels its didactic layers about power, greed, and control. That’s when it feels like a genuine...

The dream world of David Lynch was back on a big outdoor screen in Switzerland, at least for a few minutes, on Wednesday evening, namely in the form of a short film entitled An Unfinished Room… The Locarno Film Festival presented the emotional, heartfelt and surprise tribute and farewell to the cinema legend on the opening night of its 78th edition on Wednesday, courtesy of Lynch mentee Duwayne Dunham, who has worked as a director (Twin Peaks: The Return) and editor (Twin Peaks, Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi, Blue Velvet, Wild at Heart), and collaborators.
Before the Locarno 2025 opening film unspooled, artistic director Giona A. Nazzaro set up the surprise homage without mentioning Lynch by name, saying the tribute was in memory of a creative who “left an indelible mark” on cinema. “He touched all our souls, he touched all our emotion,” Nazarro continued. “His contribution to beauty,...

There have been many Spider-Man movies through the years, with multiple actors to play the wall-crawler to go along with them. For years, he existed as a cinematic titan all on his own, with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield portraying him in their respective movie series; now, Tom Holland has taken over the role for the past decade, bringing the character to the Marvel Cinematic Universe to cross him over with The Avengers.

If, in any case, you are living a monotonous life, I highly recommend sprinkling in some of that daily puzzle magic into your day, and to start with, I highly recommend getting into Actorle, which gives four different sets of daily puzzles based on Hollywood.

Video game adaptations don’t have the best track record, but Peacock’s Twisted Metal was a breath of fresh air, taking the games’ premise and using it to create something rather different. While the second season is seemingly made more with the goal of appeasing fans in mind, it does so mostly without losing the show’s unique appeal.
Twisted Metal Season 2 Review
The second season of Twisted Metal picks up seven months after the first season, with John (Anthony Mackie) and Quiet (Stephanie Beatriz) having moved on to their own lives on the inside and outside of the wall, respectively. However, when a mysterious figure offers the chance for them to enter into a driving tournament to the death, with the winner earning a wish of their choosing, they find themselves teaming up again to try to win.

By the time "Spider-Man: No Way Home" was released on December 17, 2021, the world had been on lockdown or social distancing for nearly 21 months during Covid-19. The movie became a tentpole event that brought people back to theatres. Not only was "No Way Home" another thrilling adventure starring our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, played by the exuberant Tom Holland, it was also a nostalgic love letter to the millennial Spider-Men, Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire, and their iconic villains.
It was a comforting treat to see these beloved characters on screen again, especially the return of Willem Dafoe as the Green Goblin. With his bulging eyes and Cheshire-cat grin, Dafoe's outrageous performance in the original 2002 film completely nailed the campy spirit of comic book adaptations, before many of them became too self-serious and overly dour. Dafoe was only willing to bring that flamboyant energy back to "No Way Home" if he was given a larger,...

James Gunn seemingly used to hate superheroes. One can see this in several of his early movies. The fact that he is now the master of a whole, completely earnest superhero universe -- led by his own aw-shucks "Superman" movie -- feels strange. The man has clearly made a 180-degree turn away from his impish, youthful impulses toward deconstruction and has embraced a po-faced superhero seriousness that the young Gunn may not recognize.
Case in point: In 2000, when writer/director James Gunn was still on the rise, he penned Craig Mazin's low-budget superhero comedy "The Specials," starring Thomas Haden Church, Rob Lowe, Jamie Kennedy, Padget Brewster, and Judy Greer. Gunn and his brother Sean also appeared in the film. It followed the titular superhero team on their day off, when there was no crime to fight and no supervillains to foil. The Specials all had superpowers, but looked largely unremarkable in civilian life,...

Daniel Craig’s Detective Benoit Blanc is going back to genre beginnings with the next installment in the Knives Out universe, says writer-director Rian Johnson who teased a “gothic” tone for Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery.
Speaking to Rolling Stone in a sprawling Q&a published today, the two-time Oscar nominee described the tonal difference between 2022’s Glass Onion and the forthcoming threequel, releasing Dec. 12.

This third installment in the franchise, directed by Rian Johnson, promises a new cast and a fresh mystery. Netflix recently shared a new image from the film, giving fans a closer look ahead of its release.
The new picture features Daniel Craig and Josh O’Connor sitting in a car, both looking tired and deep in thought. You can almost see Benoit Blanc piecing together clues in his mind. The Opening Night Gala of the BFI London Film Festival is a coveted slot, usually reserved for the buzziest of buzzy movies in town. In recent years, we've seen the likes of Steve McQueen's Blitz, Emerald Fennell's Saltburn, and Jeymes Samuel's The Harder They Fall kick off the Big Smoke's annual cinematic celebration in style. And for the upcoming 69th edition of Lff, the BFI are really bringing out the big guns, as today they've announced that Rian Johnson's hotly anticipated Knives Out threequel Wake Up Dead Man will be heading to London — and partner cinemas around the UK — to make its international premiere at the fest.
Having previously screened Knives Out itself at London Film Festival and made its sequel, Glass Onion, the Opening Night Gala back in 2022, it doesn't take Benoit Blanc to deduce that the BFI — much like us — are big fans of...

Netflix is known to make massive investments in projects or concepts it believes have the potential to be successful, and Rian Johnson’s Knives Out film series seems to be its latest muse. The streamer isn’t just shifting how audiences experience mystery stories, but it seems to be building upon the world created by the 2019 film and transforming it into a sprawling franchise.
Following the success of the first film and its sequel, Glass Onion, the streaming giant recently revealed the third film, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery. Reimagining the detective storytelling of the first film as serialized entertainment by building up connective tissues, the platform isn’t just crafting sequels but slowly scaling it into a franchise-level investment that people are yet to notice.

Fans are patiently waiting for Benoit Blanc’s (Daniel Craig) next outing in Rian Johnson’s Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery. The third movie in the Knives Out franchise is long overdue as it brings a fresh cast, a new mystery, and a fan-favorite sleuth. While fans have seen the first full trailer of the Netflix movie, the streamer has unveiled a new image from the movie.
The image comes with the announcement that the movie will officially open the 69th BFI London Film Festival. It shows Craig and co-star Josh O’Connor in a car, both of them look disheveled, while one can see wheels in Benoit Blanc’s head turning. Netflix has swiftly renewed its Shane Gillis-led workplace comedy, Tires, for a third season. The streamer announced the show's renewal less than a month after its second outing premiered on June 5. Tires centers on Will (Steve Gerben), who has taken over his father's struggling auto repair chain, Valley Forge Automotive. He's not exactly qualified for the role, but he tries to make the business succeed, all while dealing with his undermining cousin and employee, Shane (Gillis).
The show's journey to and on the streamer has been an interesting one. Gillis self-financed the six-episode inaugural season, and Netflix acquired the series as part of a deal that also included a new stand-up special for the comedian on the streaming service. Netflix and Gillis's first special, Beautiful Dogs, was released in 2023. He was also featured in 2024's Netflix is a Joke Fest.

When Tires screeched onto Netflix in the spring of 2024, the sitcom — created by comedians Shane Gillis, John McKeever, and Steve Gerben — quickly earned a second season renewal. Netflix doesn't have the best track record of renewing popular shows. However, it looks like it's betting on highly underrated series more than ever.
The workplace comedy Tires premiered in 2024 to poor reviews from the critics, but enthusiastic ones from the audience. For Season 2, the critics finally came along and gave the follow-up season a positive score. A few weeks after the release of Season 2, Variety confirms Netflix has renewed Tires for Season 3.
The comedy series comes from Shane Gillis, Steve Gerben, and John McKeever. Season 2 hit Netflix on June 5 and, less than a month later, it has already scored a renewal for Season 3. Since its premiere, the comedy series has released a new season every year, and that will continue to be true for Season 3, as well, which will return in 2026. There is no release date yet, but since both seasons premiered in late spring, the third entry might follow a similar path.

The second season of Shane Gillis’ hit comedy series, Tires, debuted earlier this year, and now Netflix has finally addressed the future of the 55% Rotten Tomatoes series. Netflix has officially confirmed that Tires has been renewed for a third season, which is expected to begin streaming in 2026. This decision comes with little shock — the second season of Tires was far more successful than the first, earning stronger viewership and better scores from both critics and audiences on the world’s leading aggregate site. Tires Season 1 premiered with a “rotten” 40% from critics and an 87% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, and Season 2 built upon this with a 71% critic's score and an 89% rating on the audience-driven Popcornmeter. The show also stars Steve Gerben.
In addition to starring in the show, Steve Gerben also created the series with Gillis and John McKeever, who has directed all 18 episodes to date. Spider-Man veteran Thomas Haden Church...

Hope you’re not getting tired of Tires, because there’s more on the way. (Also, you should not be — Tires season two was great.)
Netflix has renewed Tires for a third season, which will debut in 2026. Tires hails from comedian Shane Gillis, its breakout star (for my money) Steve Gerben and the director (John) McKeever.
In Tires, Will (Gerben), the “nervous and unqualified heir to an auto repair chain,” attempts to turn his father’s tire-shop business around “despite constant torture from his cousin,” Shane (Gillis), the synopsis reads. Shane is also Will’s employee.
In season two, after the success of Will’s and Shane’s big marketing idea — to sell tires to their customers at cost (and upsell them on other repair services) — the two “rush to grow personally and professionally without fully realizing the cost of doing business,” per Netflix. Per me, they don’t really grow personally or professionally,...

Marvel films existed long before the creation of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which officially kicked off with 2008's "Iron Man." No, we're not just talking about the early 20th Century Fox features, either. Dating back to the early 1990s, the comic book titan has produced a substantial collection of motion pictures -- with decidedly mixed results. Early on, the studio struggled to connect with general audiences, resulting in ambitious box office misfires like the notorious "Howard the Duck," which failed to replicate the success of DC Comics' "Superman: The Movie" or "Batman."

Since then, the studio has produced nearly 40 films and created the famed MCU -- a franchise juggernaut that continues,...

Thomas Haden Church began his acting career as the lovable airplane mechanic Lowell Mather on the beloved ‘90s NBC sitcom Wings. As Phil on Netflix comedy Tires season two, he’s the one (gently) bossing the grease monkeys around, including his on-screen son Shane Gillis.
Church is happy to talk about being on both ends of the socket wrench, though really he’s at his happiest relaying the cattle count on his Texas ranch. It’s all good — I mostly wanted to talk about Tombstone (1993).
How aware of Tires season one were you?
Not at all. And I had a connection with an executive at Rough House Pictures, Danny McBride’s company (and a Tires production company), because I had another project that they were considering doing like three years ago — something that my partner and I had written. But I got to know this executive Brandon James,...
