Writer-producer duo Jules Bruff and Alethea Root have set a partnership with Guerrilla Rep Media for sales of their award-winning feature film “Good Side of Bad.”

The film, directed by Root, looks at the everyday challenges and realities of living with schizophrenia for both the sufferer and their family as well. In the film, when a young photographer has a severe mental break, her siblings come together to help her heal.

The film’s starring cast includes Oscar and Golden Globe nominee Tess Harper, Bruff (“Zodiac”), Lexi Simonsen (“S.W.A.T”), Alex Quijano (“The Fabelmans”), Myles Grier (“Lethal Weapon”), and Emmy winner Kim Estes. Root and Bruff previously collaborated on “Part Time Fabulous.”

Toby Keith, a country music superstar and Songwriters Hall of Famer, died Monday after a three-year battle with stomach cancer. He was 62.

His family announced his death in a post on Instagram: “Toby Keith passed peacefully last night on February 5th, surrounded by his family. He fought his fight with grace and courage. Please respect the privacy of his family at this time.”

Born Toby Keith Covel on July 8, 1961, in Clinton, Ok, Keith amassed three dozen Top 10 hits on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart from 1993-2011, 20 of which hit No. 1. Eleven of his singles went platinum and 10 more went gold. He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2015.

He became interested in music via his grandmother’s supper club in Fort Smith, Ak, where she would lay on bands for the clients.

Toby Keith, the country music singer and songwriter also known for his larger-than-life personality, died on Monday at the age of 62.

Keith was diagnosed with stomach cancer in 2022.

The Nashville star’s country hits included the likes of “Who’s Your Daddy?,” “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue,” “Beer for My Horses” and “Made in America.” He also performed at President Donald Trump’s inauguration concert at Washington’s Lincoln Memorial in 2017.

More recently, the music star performed at the People’s Choice Country Awards in September where he received the Country Icon Award.

Ben Masters, the much-loved soap star of “Passions,” died Wednesday at age 75.

Per an official release from Masters’ team, the actor suffered a years-long battle with dementia before succumbing to Covid at the Eisenhower Medical Center in Palm Springs, California.

His much-loved role of billionaire Julian Crane was also his last. He starred on the daytime drama and pop culture phenomenon from 1999-2008.

Ben Masters, who appeared three times on Broadway in the 1970s before starring as the philandering billionaire Julian Crane during the entire run of the NBC/DirecTV soap opera Passions, has died. He was 75.

Masters battled dementia for several years and died Wednesday of Covid-19 complications at Eisenhower Health Center in Rancho Mirage, California, a family spokesperson announced.

On the big screen, Masters appeared in Bob Fosse’s All That Jazz (1979) with Roy Scheider, in Key Exchange (1985) with Brooke Adams and Danny Aiello, in Dream Lover (1986) with Kristy McNichol and in Making Mr. Right (1987) with John Malkovich.

On Passions, which ran from 1999-2008, Masters’ Julian had an affair and a son with Tracey Ross’ Eve and a long, tumultuous marriage with Kim Johnston Ulrich’s Ivy. He also was presumed murdered in 2002, but it turned out he wasn’t, and he was back on the show months later.

In the short-lived 1976 series “Muggsy,” Masters raised his 13-year old sister in a trailer behind a gas station after their parents died. The Saturday morning series dealt with issues like gangs and poverty in a more realistic way than the popular suburban depictions of family life.

From the 1970s to 1990s, Masters worked on several TV mini-series such as “Noble House” (with Pierce Brosnan) and “Celebrity” (with Ned Beatty and Tess Harper).

Twice a month Joe Lipsett will dissect a new Amityville Horror film to explore how the “franchise” has evolved in increasingly ludicrous directions.

After the highs of Amityville 2: The Possession, it’s hard not to see Amityville 3-D as something of a letdown. The Richard Fleischer-directed film lacks the visual flare that Damiano Damiani brought and the result is a film that is lacking all of the energy and verve of the first sequel. The new film feels more leaden and by the numbers, even as the film works overtime to justify its 3-D gimmick, which was all the rage in early 80s horror.

One stand-out aspect of the third Amityville is that it’s unafraid of being mean. The women, in particular, are treated horribly; the film’s two cruelest – and most memorable – deaths are reserved for supporting cast members Candy Clark (!) and Lori Loughlin (!!).

The specialty box office is headed towards the second star on the right and straight on till morning with Benh Zeitlin’s magical adventure Wendy, a fresh reimagination of J. M. Barrie’s classic tale of Peter Pan. The pic from Searclight Pictures is Zeitlin’s follow up to his Oscar-nominated Beasts of the Southern Wild which was released in 2012.

Co-written by Zeitlin and his sister Eliza, Wendy isn’t necessarily cut from the same cloth from Disney animated feature, rather it speaks to Zeitlin’s hyperealstic aesthtetic. The film, which debuted at Sundance earlier this year, stars newcomer Devin France in the titular role of Wendy, based on the heroine Wendy Darling of Peter Pan. In Zeitlin’s vision of Neverland, Wendy and her friends get whisked away by a boy named Peter where they get lost on a mysterious island where no one ages and time stands still.

Two years later this is finally being released. 101 Studios has debuted the second trailer for indie drama Burden, a film about the Kkk and a former Klansman who gives up his ways thanks to the help of a local reverend. This initially premiered at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival, two years ago, winning the Audience Award but it never got released like every other film from that fest. Garrett Hedlund stars as Mike Burden, a Klansman whose relationships with a single mother and a high school friend force him to re-examine his long-held beliefs. It also features Forest Whitaker, Andrea Riseborough, Tom Wilkinson, Usher Raymond, and Tess Harper. This looks like a tough one to watch, but Whitaker's powerful speech at the end makes this worthy. A small town already down on its luck receives a few fresh kicks in “The Evening Hour.” Based on Carter Sickels’ 2012 novel, this second narrative feature from director Braden King is more plot-driven than his first, 2011’s “Here,” a leisurely and slight, if pleasant, road-trip romance. Indeed, there may be a little more content here than the film knows quite what to do with, given an opioid epidemic, related criminal intrigue and various problematic relationships crowded into a story that King prefers to let unfold somewhat passively when a more taut, suspenseful approach might seem more apt.

Still, this snapshot of life in a tapped-out Appalachian mining town holds the attention, even if it doesn’t quite maximize potential as either melodrama or character piece. In the current climate, its modest theatrical prospects will likely be outpaced by potential as a streaming item.

We’ve got a trailer for a fantastic-looking film called Burden that takes place in South Carolina in 1996, and involves a small town that is dealing with citizens who are at odds due to race. A local Reverend of a predominantly black church, played by Forest Whitaker, decides to reach out and help an ex-member of the Kkk, played by Garrett Hedlund, who is homeless and trying to turn his life around.

It's now set to open in late February of next year, for those still curious. “El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie,” which dropped on Netflix Oct. 11, drew around 6.5 million total viewers in its first three days on the streaming platform, according to Nielsen.

The movie also reached just under 8.2 million unique TV viewers. “El Camino” unsurprisingly drew its biggest audience of the three days on day 1, totaling 2.6 million U.S. viewers in its first 24 hours.

According to the trusted audience measurer, about 36% of the film’s audience over its first three days were adults in the ages 18-34 demographic. For comparison, the final season premiere of the meth-centered show drew 5.9 million total viewers on Netflix back in 2013.

Now that you’ve seen Netflix‘s highly anticipated “Breaking Bad” movie — and if you haven’t, stop reading this spoiler-filled article right now! — you know that Aaron Paul should dust off his awards mantel to prep for the likely onslaught of statuettes he’s about to receive for reprising his role as meth-making tragic hero Jesse Pinkman. But there’s one other former cast member who appears throughout “El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie” that I’m hoping awards voters will also consider: Jesse Plemons.

As “Breaking Bad” viewers may recall, Plemons’ role as creepy Todd Alquist, an aspiring meth cook and nephew of white supremacists, came to a brutal end in the 2013 series finale when Jesse broke free of his cage and choked him with a chain. While that was the end of Todd in the TV series, he pops up in several key flashbacks in Netflix’s film.

You’re likely only reading this if you’ve already seen “El Camino,” so this won’t be a spoiler-free review. But it also won’t ruin everything if you haven’t. Critics may not always peddle what fans want, but “El Camino” — what’s being called “A Breaking Bad Movie” and now available on Netflix (and in some movie theaters) — proves that creator Vince Gilligan is a Walter White-level master of delivering on what the devoted have been craving: a couple extra hours in sun-drenched Albuquerque’s darker corners with everyone’s favorite meth-lab work spouse turned traumatized ex Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul), one of the more memorable television characters of the past decade.

Writer-director Gilligan’s plans to follow up with Jesse after his cathartic, grisly escape from brutal crystal-cooking servitude were hatched in the making of that final “Breaking Bad” episode, which Gilligan also wrote and directed.

Nicolas Cage’s “Jiu Jitsu” has become the first international film to use Cyprus’ new tax credit-rebate program by filming entirely in the country, Variety has learned exclusively.

Cage came on board in March to star in the martial arts actioner, based on the comic book of the same name. Martin Barab is producing with Dimitri Logothetis who is also directing from a script he wrote with Jim McGrath about an ancient order of expert Jiu Jitsu fighters facing fearsome alien invaders in a battle for Earth every six years.

The Breaking Bad Movie continues to shoot in the Albuquerque area, revealing some familiar locations from the hit show. A super fan has been traveling around and snapping pictures of the areas and they hint at some flashbacks and the return of some beloved characters. With that being said, the movie is a huge mystery at this point in time. We know that it will focus on Jesse Pinkman's post-Breaking Bad life, but there sure seems to be a lot of scenes being shot in familiar areas for a guy who's supposedly on the run.

Aaron Paul took a break from social media in December of last year, which is when the Breaking Bad movie started filming. Since then, he and director Vince Gilligan have been spotted in Albuquerque quite a bit. Jesse Pinkman's car has been spotted too, along with Mike's car, which is weird because Mike is dead.

Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan is currently in the process of developing a movie that would continue the story of Aaron Paul’s character, Jesse. The movie is aimed to follow his “escape from Albuquerque following the bloody events of the series finale.”

A lot of fans have wondered if Bryan Cranston would be back to reprise his role of Walter White. Cranston previously confirmed that he’s talked about the movie with Gilligan, and if Gilligan does ask him to come back to reprise his role, he’d “absolutely” do it.

Cranston went on to say that the film focuses on “at least a couple of the characters that were not completed as far as their journey.”

According to Revenge of the Fans, they have a cast list that shows Cranston is listed as being cast in the series and it also confirms some of the other characters who might be returning.

We may have the cast list for the Breaking Bad Movie. While AMC has yet to officially confirm that such a movie is happening, the cat is, more or less, out of the bag. It started with a report from a local publication in Albuquerque and Bryan Cranston also seemingly confirmed that it's happening as well. Still, both the network and series creator Vince Gilligan seem intent on keeping it all a "secret" until the time is right. That having been said, an alleged cast list has surfaced online and, if this is the real deal, it would have major implications for the highly-anticipated project.

Exclusive: Lili Taylor, whose credits include American Crime, Hemlock Grove and Almost Human, has signed on as one of the stars of the indie film, The Evening Hour. Braden King is directing the feature, adapted from Carter Sickels’ 2012 novel, with production taking place in and around Harlan, Kentucky.

Taylor replaces Cynthia Nixon, who was originally attached to the project. Philip Ettinger (First Reformed), Stacy Martin (Vox Lux), Cosmo Jarvis (Lady Macbeth) and Kerry Bishé (The Romanoffs) also star.

Emmy Award winner Eric McCormack is known for providing comedic relief on Will & Grace, but now the actor is teaming up with other performers to highlight a very serious issue.
