John Henry Canavan

John Henry Canavan is a born performer. From early childhood he was
told he had a special something and that he'd go far if he followed it.
Acting in school plays and writing his own by age 11, he knew at an
early age that he had found his passion.
He was born in Toronto, raised in Scarborough by his Irish/Scottish parents and his four siblings. By 15 he was accepted to and studied at the very prestigious Etobicoke School of the Arts, graduating with honors and winning the William H Williams scholarship for actor of the year for pulling off five major lead roles in five separate productions in one year.
He went on to the University of Windsor where before he could complete his first year, The Amercian Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York came knocking to tell him he had become the first Canadian to win their Full Scholarship Award if he'd accept it. He did and found himself living on Broadway by 19. He traveled the USA and Canada for years doing theater. Everything from puppetry to improv & Shakespeare to Mamet.
His 1st break in film & television came after a successful production of Judith Thompson's "The Crackwalker" garnered the cast a Jessie Award Nomination in Vancouver, Canada. He found himself bouncing from one show to the next and loving every minute of it. John continued to have success in film and television and has since gone on to work with many great actors and some of his favorite directors.
In 2001 he re-met and later married his acting academy sweetheart Yael Schuster and they moved back to New York in 2002. They are now bi-coastal having made to move to Los Angeles with their myriad of pets including, three cats and a dog.
