Soleil Moon Frye knew Aaron Carter when he was just a teenager. “He was just this vivacious, bubbly, bright, beautiful light,” she says of the late singer.

When she met Angel Carter Conrad, Aaron’s twin, a few years ago, they connected immediately.

“She had already lost two of her siblings and her father, and in the process of our journey, lost her third sibling,” Frye says. “From the moment that I met her, I was blown away by her courage, her strength, her grace, her love and her beautiful heart. And I really wanted to create a safe space for her to share her story. And I remember saying to the team, ‘If you let me make a documentary that, at its core, is around mental health awareness and addiction told through this incredible, moving story of Angel and the tragedies that her family had gone through, I’m all in.

The Carter family has experienced an immense amount of tragedy in their lives, including the drug-induced deaths of Aaron Carter and his sisters Leslie and Bobbie Jean. Exclusive: Independent Artist Group has elevated Nathan DeRemer to Partner, upping Anthony Marotto to Vice-President, Physical Production.

DeRemer began his career at APA in 2013 — prior to the agency’s merger with Artist Group International to form Iag — within three years rising through the ranks to TV Lit Agent. The Berkeley grad quickly established himself as a tastemaker in the department and was promoted to Vice President, Scripted Literary in 2021. In his time at Iag, he’s cultivated an eclectic roster of premium storytellers and brokered numerous multimillion dollar overall deals for clients at HBO, FX, Amazon, and Wbtv. He’s also spearheaded competitive spec sales that led to series orders at AMC and Freeform/Hulu, and recently had back-to-back seasons with pilot production orders at CBS (Jumpstart) and ABC (Forgive and Forget).
