John Fogerty on Creedence: ‘I Did What the Beatles Did, All By Myself’
Image
“I knew I had done something remarkable,” John Fogerty says of his years with Creedence Clearwater Revival in the new episode of Rolling Stone Music Now. “In a sense, I did what the Beatles did, but I did it all by myself. I didn’t have two other guys to write songs with me.”

For his new album, Aug. 22’s Legacy: the Creedence Clearwater Revival years, Fogerty re-recorded classics (from “Born On the Bayou” to “Have You Ever Seen the Rain”) with his sons Shane and Tyler filing in for the long-since-split band.

Emmys Shakeup: Beyoncé & ‘SNL50’ Go Primetime As TV Academy Adds Live Variety Special Category To Main Telecast
Image
Exclusive: One of the more intriguing Emmy battles this year is Beyoncé going head-to-head with Saturday Night Live’s celeb-filled 50th anniversary special.

Netflix’s Beyoncé Bowl and SNL 50: The Anniversary are battling each other in the Outstanding Variety Special (Live) category.

The Television Academy had originally scheduled this award to be handed out during the second night of the Creative Arts Emmys, but Deadline understands that it has now been moved to the main primetime show, which will take place September 14 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles and air on CBS and Paramount+.

A TV Academy spokesman confirmed the move. The motives for the move are not entirely clear, but it’s likely an opportunity to get Beyoncé to the awards. The pop star has never attended the Emmys, despite having been nominated before.

The two shows will also go up against fellow nominees the Apple Music...

Ozzy Osbourne Just Wanted to Get Back Onstage
Image
When Ozzy Osbourne brought Metallica on tour in 1986, he noticed his young opening act blasting Black Sabbath in their dressing room and covering his old band’s songs in soundchecks. Osbourne’s first assumption, he said later, was that Metallica were mocking him. He was stunned to learn they were actually displaying their hero worship, and trying to coax him onstage with them.

As discussed in the new episode of Rolling Stone Music Now, Osbourne — who died July 22 at the age of 76 — could be touchingly insecure for a beloved and wildly influential metal legend.

Did Kelly Osbourne Date Puff Diddy: Sharon Osbourne on Diddy’s Oiled Up “Old Willy”
Image
Some things are better left hidden from the public eye, but unfortunately, a conversation between the Osbournes became the center of attention for all the wrong reasons when Sharon Osbourne urged her daughter to be with Diddy, despite her son’s protests. Whether Kelly dated Diddy or not remains unknown, but back then, Sharon wouldn’t have minded it at all.

Amidst the recent scandal the rapper has found himself in, an old moment from ‘The Osbournes’ show revealed exactly what two members of the family think of Diddy, and they couldn’t be more different from each other.

In the resurfaced clip (via the Daily Mail), Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne‘s son can be seen warning his sister about getting too close to Diddy. It was revealed that Diddy gifted Kelly a diamond watch to make up for his security guard bumping into her and knocking her over.

P Diddy’s Guilty Verdict: Does Sean Combs Want a Retrial Ahead of His Sentencing?
Image
Sean Diddy Combs is seeking either a retrial or an acquittal, a month after he was convicted of two charges of transportation to engage in pr*stit*tion. In a 62-page memorandum to the judge overseeing his case, his defense team claimed that the prosecution unfairly targeted their client. They claimed that his verdict was “unconstitutional” and unprecedented (via CNN).

Diddy was convicted of the lesser offenses, while he was acquitted of the more serious charges, including s*x trafficking and racketeering. His legal team questioned the interpretation of evidence in the charges, claiming that they were not supported by actual law.

The defense continued to claim that Diddy engaged in consensual s*x and adult entertainment. They claimed that their client’s activities were distorted by the prosecution and presented as a major crime. They argued that the escorts involved in the act were all legally hired through licensed services,...

Deion Sanders’ Deleted Tweet Calls P Diddy and Snoop Dogg Guilty of Serious Crime
Image
Trigger Warning: This article contains minor references to themes of s*x trafficking and pr*stit*tion, which some individuals may find distressing.

P Diddy’s federal criminal trial has landed him with a split verdict that’s mostly in his favor, but he isn’t entirely out of public fire. For one, Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders is said to have called the rap mogul out for an alleged serious crime in a since-deleted tweet. Also embroiled in the fire with him was Snoop Dogg, whom the coach didn’t hesitate to name-drop.

As shared by @Ri_S_OB on X, in an old tweet from April 2011, Coach Prime seemingly took to his X handle @DeionSanders to allege both Sean Combs and Dogg of a disturbing claim. Here’s what he wrote:

I don’t think y’all heard me! Diddy, Snoop, and Prime with a house full of kids.

‘Trouble Man’ Review: Michael Jai White Is Superfine to the Ladies and Super-Harsh to Baddies in a Fun, Disposable Action Throwback
Image
Michael Jai White has been in a lot of film and TV projects over the last 35 years or so. But probably most beloved amongst his fans is “Black Dynamite,” the 2009 sendup of 1970s blaxploitation movies he conceived, co-wrote and starred in. That it remains a favorite for him too is made obvious by “Trouble Man,” which isn’t a spoof but a relatively straight-faced replay of that vintage genre’s conventions, with White (also directing now) as the supercool hero constantly besting bad guys via martial arts and gunplay, while simultaneously fending off the attentions of various beautiful women.

Bearing no formal relation to the actual 1972 blaxploitation feature of the same title, which is best remembered for its Marvin Gaye score, White’s “Trouble Man” is full of such winking references to vintage African-American pop culture. But referentiality is as far as this semi-tongue-in-cheek endeavor goes; it does a lot...

Shirley Halperin is departing The Hollywood Reporter to become co-editor-in-chief of Rolling Stone — the first woman to fill that role in the brand’s 60-year legacy. Maer Roshan, THR’s co-editor, is staying on as the magazine’s sole editor-in-chief.

Halperin, a veteran music journalist and editor, will lead Rolling Stone’s music coverage alongside Sean Woods, the title’s longtime executive editor, who is being promoted to co-editor-in-chief. Halperin starts her new role on Sept. 1, serving as both co-editor-in-chief and head of music, and will split her time between New York and Los Angeles. Woods, who will step into his new role effective immediately, will remain based in the brand’s New York headquarters. Cape and Starz Name Showrunners Incubator Class of 2025 for Asian Pacific Islander TV Writers (Exclusive)
Image
The Coalition of Asian Pacifics in Entertainment (Cape) has named its Showrunners Incubator class of 2025.

The #TakeTheLead diversity initiative is back for a second year. “Nancy Drew” and “Tom Swift” executive producer and showrunner Melinda Hsu is acting as chair of the program. The incubator provides writers who are on the brink of showrunning with exclusive mentorship and real-world training and education.

“According to the WGA’s latest job statistics, there were over 1,300 TV writing jobs lost last season—nearly half of them at the co-executive producer to showrunner level,” said Rhian Moore, Cape’s head of programs. “This sharp decline means even fewer opportunities for writers to gain the leadership experience they need, both in the writers’ room and on set. With alumni from our inaugural year already finding success as they step into showrunning roles, Cape is excited to continue our work training the next generation of creative leaders.

14 Embarrassing Ways Celebrities Attempted to Revive Their Career

Imagine if your fall-back was an NBA Championship three-peat.

14 Kim Kardashian’s Head Fell Off

In 2011, she added to her tragically diverse portfolio with a horrible song called “Jam (Turn It Up)” that flopped with 14,000 downloads in its first week. Don’t worry, she blamed it on a good cause: She retroactively and flippantly announced that she “gave the proceeds to a cancer organization.” Ew, here, you take this 14 cents.

13 Kevin Spacey Stayed in Character

After allegations of sexual assault surfaced, he was summarily written out of Netflix’s flagship franchise, House of Cards, and has struggled to get work since. In response, he used his yearly Christmas video to make a seven-minute interview with Tucker Carlson while in character as brutal sociopath Frank Underwood.

Snoop Dogg Campaigns for A Role in Marvel’s Spider-Man Universe
Image
Snoop Dogg, rapper, pop culture icon, and surprise voice actor in The Garfield Movie, has set his sights on the Marvel Cinematic Universe. No, seriously. The 53-year-old legend, born Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., recently posted AI-generated images on Facebook showing himself suited up as Venom, locked in combat with Spider-Man. The caption was a casual, “Who agrees I should be the new Venom?” You can probably guess what happened next. The comment section exploded with a mix of support, confusion, and comedy gold. One fan deadpanned, “Weed and AI is a wild combo.” Another pitched an entirely different Marvel character: “Snoop. I would like to see you as our new Luke Cage.” But perhaps the most cutting came from someone who commented, “Totally disagree. I don’t think Venom can Crip walk.” And then there was the comment that everyone agreed with: “I don’t see Venom. I see somebody...

NBC Fall Premiere Dates: ‘Law & Order: Organized Crime’ Back On Thursday, ‘Hunting Party’ Held, ‘St. Denis Medical’ & ‘Happy’s Place’ Double Pumped
Image
Surprise! The three-hour Law & Order Thursday lineup will be back on NBC’s fall schedule. Law & Order: Organized Crime, which moved from NBC to Peacock ahead of its fifth season a year ago, will return to the broadcast network. Its fifth season, which recently wrapped its run on the NBCUniversal streamer, will get a second window on NBC, airing in its old Thursday 10 Pm slot behind Law & Order and Law & Order: Svu. The L&w trio will debut their new seasons Sept. 25.

The intention with Organized Crime‘s move to Peacock was to make the drama starring Christopher Meloni even more serialized and edgy. While it is serialized, Season 5 was not as dark as anticipated, making it suitable for a 10 Pm airing on broadcast, where the expectation is that it would reach a largely new audience.

Stephen Curry Did Not Betray His Friend Like LeBron James Did During Drake-Kendrick Lamar Feud

Stephen Curry didn’t flinch. He might’ve been tired of Kendrick Lamar’s Not Like Us but that fatigue wasn’t rooted in pettiness; it was personal. Unlike LeBron James, who danced publicly to a diss aimed squarely at Drake, Curry admitted in a recent Complex interview that his groan was rooted in friendship. Curry said:

We go way back though and it’s actually kind of a family thing too. One of Ayesha’s cousins is from Toronto and the whole deal. So, we’re all in the same boat.

“Everywhere we went, it was all I heard,” Curry told Complex, adding:

The fact that they know who I was with. You can’t do nothing about what the DJ’s playing. But I was like, I got sick of it at a certain point. It’s funny the cameras caught me because that was from the soul.

These three are the only coaches in The Voice‘s long history who have actually won the whole damn thing. So NBC looked around and said, “Hey, what if we built a whole season around winners?” Revolutionary!

‘The Voice’: Kelly Clarkson, John Legend & Adam Levine Return For Season 29 As NBC Revamps Singing Competition
Image
Kelly Clarkson, John Legend and Adam Levine are reuniting on The Voice for the first time since Season 16. The trio are set to star as coaches for Season 29 of the NBC show, which will launch in the spring.

This comes as Michael Bublé, Snoop Dogg, Niall Horan and Reba McEntire have been set as coaches for Season 28, which comes out in the fall.

Both seasons are being shot at the same time, hence the early announcement for coaches on Season 29 ahead of Season 28 debuting.

The network also revealed that the show will include various format revamps for Season 29, which is being dubbed The Voice: Battle of Champions.

‘The Voice’ Reunites Kelly Clarkson, John Legend and Adam Levine for ‘Battle of the Champions’ Season
Image
Kelly Clarkson, John Legend and Adam Levine will return as coaches for “The Voice” Season 29.

Clarkson, Legend and Levine, all of whom have served as coaches for multiple seasons of “The Voice” and won at least one season, will return to the NBC singing competition show’s red chairs for the upcoming 29th season, airing in 2026, the network announced Tuesday. The returning coaches will take the baton from Michael Bublé, Snoop Dogg, Niall Horan and Reba McEntire, who will serve as coaches for Season 28 premiering this fall.

The return of the O.G. coaches is only fitting for the 29th season, which will be dubbed “The Voice: Battle of Champions,” as the three coaches make up the only panel in the show’s history comprised entirely of “Voice” winners.

Clarkson will film “The Voice” and “The Kelly Clarkson Show” Season 7 concurrently, and filming schedules for both shows have already been worked out.

NBC is calling Season 29 “The Voice: Battle of Champions,” named due to the fact the coaching panel is comprised entirely of “Voice” winners. Coaches will enter the competition with 10 artists per team. The new season will feature four rounds, each featuring a “Voice” first. Those are:

Before he became the world’s biggest sellout by performing at a fascist regime’s fake money party, he set a record that really lays bare how Guinness is just a marketing firm for hire: “The World’s Largest Paradise Cocktail.” This dipshit dumped 180 bottles of gin into a tub that’s too small to be a dunk tank and accepted an award for it. Beyoncé’s controversial campaign for her first Emmy in full swing as ‘Beyoncé Bowl’ takes on ‘The Super Bowl,’ ‘The Oscars,’ and ‘SNL’
Image
Beyoncé is pulling out all stops — and raising some eyebrows — as she once again attempts to win her first Emmy.

Fresh off her historic first Grammy win for Album of the Year, the Cowboy Carter star's NFL Christmas Day halftime show for Netflix, titled Beyoncé Bowl, has earned four nominations — including two categories where she could take home the award: Best Variety Special (Live) and Best Directing for a Variety Special.

The Emmy has eluded Queen Bey — she has lost eight previous bids (nine if you count Daytime Emmys) — but her campaign for gold is in full swing. You can't get caught in an L.A. traffic jam without seeing billboards for the seven-month-old performance — she has even got posters at the bus stop. But if Emmy voters were expecting to rub elbows with the global superstar in some cozy 300-seat screening room, well, Beyoncé had a different strategy in...

I Saw Firsthand Just How Much Even the Idea of Rosie O’Donnell Got Under Donald Trump’s Skin
Image
On July 12, Donald Trump took to Truth Social to threaten stripping his longtime nemesis Rosie O’Donnell of her U.S. citizenship, despite her having been born to American citizens and in the U.S. — something which legal experts say the president does not have the power to do.

Trump has been feuding with O’Donnell since 2006, when the then-lead panelist of “The View” criticized him for taking a moralistic tone toward one of his Miss USA pageant winners after an indiscretion. As rounded up well by Variety’s Daniel D’Addario, O’Donnell’s particular on-air criticism struck an unusually deep chord for Trump.

It wasn’t just that O’Donnell questioned why he should be the moral arbiter of anything; it was that she called out his physical appearance as well, throwing her hair over the top of her head in an imitation of his signature look, and making her mouth into an “o.

Beyoncé Lands Another Shot At Her First Emmy As Cowboy Carter NFL Halftime Show Takes On ‘SNL’, Twice
Image
Beyoncé has received eight Emmy nominations over the year but the most-award artist in Grammy history is still searching for a TV win.

The Cowboy Carter star will have another crack at an Emmy this year after her Netflix NFL halftime show Beyoncé Bowl was nominated in Outstanding Variety Special (Live), going head-to-head with both SNL50: The Anniversary Special and SNL50: The Homecoming Concert.

It marks an interesting battle between one of the biggest pop stars in the world and a TV special that featured more A-list celebrities and former SNL stars than could fit in Studio 8H.

Other nominees in the category include The Apple Music Super Bowl Lix Halftime Show

Starring Kendrick Lamar and The Oscars.

Last year, The Oscars, which was hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, won the award, beating out The Apple Music Super Bowl Lviii Halftime Show Starring Usher, The 66th Grammy Awards, The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady...

Grok Rolls Out Pornographic Anime Companion, Lands Department of Defense Contract

There’s never a dull moment with Grok, the chatbot from Elon Musk‘s xAI, which he has consistently called the “smartest” AI in existence despite its forays into racial conspiracy theories, tendency to speak in the first person as Musk himself, and recent output of what it termed “Hitler fanfic.”

Last week, xAI debuted the latest version of the bot, Grok 4, which Musk bizarrely claimed would be able to “discover new technologies,” perhaps as soon as this year. But today, he proudly unveiled an update to the model that pointed toward rather different applications.

The Sabrina Carpenter You Don’t Know

Sabrina Carpenter is as good as any current pop star at cultivating controversy and attention — the latest evidence was the now-subsided furor over her absurd Man’s Best Friend album cover, which seems to take cues from Spinal Tap’s Smell the Glove. “She’s leaning into it and laughing about it at the same time,” says Angie Martoccio, who profiled Carpenter for her recent Rolling Stone cover story — which revealed that image aside, the singer’s true obsession is music.

Chris Pratt has many exciting projects on the way, and has just scored a new one. Aside from his roles in superhero and action movies, the actor has had a lot of commercial success with animation.

Akon’s $6 Billion Crypto City in Senegal Abandoned
Image
Akon‘s plan to build a $6 billion Akon City in Senegal, supported by his own Akoin cryptocurrency, is not working out. Even the best-laid plans, amirite?

The 2018 proposal imagined a virtuous cycle of economic investment in the Republic of Senegal. Graphic representations depicted curving skyscrapers, as both singer and country cultivated comparisons to the Wakanda of Black Panther.

Now the BBC has officially confirmed what anyone following the story has long suspected: It’s not going to happen. Instead, the singer and his home country will focus on a more “realistic” project.

“The Akon City project no longer exists,” according to Serigne Mamadou Mboup, the head of Senegal’s tourism development body, Sapco. “Fortunately, an agreement has been reached between Sapco and the entrepreneur [Akon] Alioune Badara Thiam. What he’s preparing with us is a realistic project, which Sapco will fully support.”

Before it was called off, construction had got...
