After years of being out of Marvel’s grasp, the Fantastic Four has finally, officially and fully, joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe with The Fantastic Four: First Steps – and to celebrate, we have decided to look back at the other Fantastic Four movies that have been made to put together a list of Fantastic Four Movies Ranked. Here we go, from worst to best:
Fantastic Four (2015)
The ‘94 film is the one executives tried to bury, but the making of the 2015 Fantastic Four was such a horrible mess, maybe Fox should have just scrapped it and used it for a $120 million tax write-off, Warner Bros. style. When you think of "Twin Peaks," you probably think of David Lynch. After all, it's Lynch's bizarre stylings and penchant for the surreal that the franchise is most famous for. But it wasn't all Lynch -- far from it. The property was co-created by Lynch and writer Mark Frost, who had previously cut his teeth on the popular 1980s TV series "Hill Street Blues."
While Lynch brought his auteur filmmaker sensibilities, Frost brought recent, prominent experience from the TV drama realm -- a space where he had already experimented with the more ambitious long-term storytelling that made his collaboration with Lynch so appealing. Frost also returned alongside Lynch in 2017 for the long-awaited third season of "Twin Peaks" (aka "Twin Peaks: The Return"), ensuring that the unique combo that made the original TV show so successful stayed intact.

One of the boldest aspects of David Lynch and Mark Frost's "Twin Peaks: The Return" (which was basically "Twin Peaks" season 3) was the way it looked like it was going to give fans the closure they had always wanted, only to swerve dramatically in the other direction at the eleventh hour. "Part 16" and "Part 17" were filled with cathartic, long-awaited moments for "Twin Peaks" enthusiasts; they even featured a brief scene where all our favorite characters happily hang out together, celebrating how they finally defeated the evil Bob (Frank Silva) by ... well, punching him really hard. But then the finale, "Part 18," took us into dark, ambiguous, aggressively Lynchian territory.
"The Return" ends with the heroic Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) bringing an alternate version of Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee) back to the Palmer family home. He's hoping this will give her (and him) some sense of peace, but when they arrive,...

What if "Twin Peaks" was a surreal sitcom instead of a twisted mystery? It might look something like the classic CBS series "Northern Exposure," which ran for six seasons beginning in 1990. Sure, David Lynch and Mark Frost brought some humor to "Twin Peaks," but "Northern Exposure" is much more purely a sitcom with some similarly strange elements, and it's a real treat.
"Northern Exposure" follows Dr. Joel Fleischman (Rob Morrow), a New York City doctor who had his med school tuition paid for on the promise that he would practice medicine for four years in the state of Alaska, which sorely needed doctors. He ends up in the tiny fictional town of Cicely, where he'll be the town's primary doctor despite being fresh out of med school. Cicely is a strange little town with a real cast of characters, and as Joel gets to know his new neighbors as they...

Chicago – The phenomenon of ‘Twin Peaks’ was not only an iconic series created by David Lynch and Mark Frost, but a cultural touchstone that continues to resonant in the film, TV and societal culture/history. One of the most memorable characters of that show – both in its initial ABC-tv network run and Showtime Channel revival – was the Log Lady. Behind that persona was a long-time collaborator with Lynch, both in front of the camera and behind it, Catherine Coulson. She is the topic of a new documentary, “I Know Catherine, the Log Lady,’ directed by Richard Green.
This is the story of the grand life and just as important, the extraordinary death of Catherine Coulson. In her last days, David Lynch created an important scene in “Twin Peaks: The Return” (Showtime) in which the Log Lady, who like Catherine had days to live, speaks significant truth and of course vibrations through the legendary log.

Like peanut butter and chocolate — if peanut butter was full of observational humor and chocolate was obsessed with psychosexual dreamscapes — the comedy of Seinfeld and the work of late filmmaking genius David Lynch are a surprisingly great combination.
As we’ve mentioned before, Seinfeld and Twin Peaks specifically have a lot in common. For one thing, diners feature prominently in both shows: Monk’s and the Double R, respectively. Plus, the two series also shared a number of actors, including Grace Zabriskie and Warren Frost (father of Twin Peaks creator Mark Frost) who played Susan’s parents. And we’re not sure that the old lady with the marble rye wasn’t supposed to be the Black Lodge entity known as Mrs. Tremond/Chalfont.

It was eight years ago that “Twin Peaks” made its return with “Twin Peaks: The Return,” an 18-episode continuation of the original series that served as the show’s third season. But with the devastating passing of David Lynch earlier this year, it sounds like there’s a good chance that we’ll never see new episodes of the series that was co-created by Lynch and Mark Frost.
Prior to Lynch’s passing, however, the duo had discussed a possible “Twin Peaks” Season 4.
“We had talked a little bit about where a fourth season might go,” Frost tells Empire in the magazine’s latest issue (brought to our attention by Indiewire). “But with David having left us, it’s hard to imagine doing anything beyond this. It certainly feels like it closed the circle.”

“Twin Peaks” co-creator Mark Frost is putting the possibility of a Season 4 on ice. The filmmaker said that without late auteur David Lynch, “Twin Peaks” would be a different entity entirely. Lynch died January 16, 2025, at the age of 78 due to complications from emphysema. Prior to his passing, Lynch was in discussion with Frost about potentially revisiting the beloved series.
“Twin Peaks” first premiered on ABC in 1990 and aired for two seasons. Prequel film “Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me” was released in 1992; in 2017, Lynch and Frost reunited for revival series “Twin Peaks: The Return” on Showtime. Lynch also reprised his acting role as FBI agent Gordon Cole for “The Return.”

On July 8, 2005, 20th Century Fox brought the Fantastic Four to the big screen, launching the Marvel superheroes to a $330 million worldwide gross and a quickly greenlit sequel. The Hollywood Reporter’s original review of the Tim Story-directed film is below:
Given the sheer number of screenwriters and directors who have come and gone along the way, the comic book-to-motion picture journey taken by Fantastic Four has been fraught with enough obstacles to make that DNA altering cosmic radiation storm encountered by the Marvel superheroes look like a gentle breeze by comparison.
Now, 44 years after the quartet made its comic book debut, Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch and the Thing arrive on the big screen courtesy of a script officially credited to Mark Frost and Michael France, direction by Tim Story and about 800 visual effects shots.
And the result? Fantastic Four‘s a colossal snore.

Screenwriter and television producer Mark Frost recently got candid about the possibility of a fourth season of Twin Peaks, the dreamlike mystery series he co-created with the late David Lynch. After introducing audiences to a world "both wonderful and strange" with two seminal seasons in the early 1990s, Twin Peaks returned in 2017 with a third season that truly embraced Lynch's surreal vision.
Sadly, David Lynch passed away on January 16, 2025, at the age of 78, after being diagnosed with emphysema the previous year. Although Frost said he had spoken with Lynch before his death about a possible fourth season,he finds it "hard to imagine" doing another installment at this point. Check out his full quote below (via ComicBook.com):

It turns out the gum we like may not be coming back in style after all, as Twin Peaks co-creator Mark Frost has lost faith in the series ever coming back without David Lynch.
Following the January death of David Lynch, Mark Frost said he would have to evaluate the future of Twin Peaks. But now that he’s had some time to mull it over, the idea may have gone the way of Laura Palmer. As he told Empire (via ComicBook.com), “We had talked a little bit about where a fourth season might go, but with David having left us, it’s hard to imagine doing anything beyond this. Created by Frost and the late and great David Lynch, Twin Peaks is generally known as one of the greatest television ever made and when you make something like that it is very hard to let it go and maybe that’s why Twin Peaks has survived even after it was unceremoniously canceled on ABC after only two seasons in 1991. The second time we saw a Twin Peaks film was in 1992, and then it returned for its third and final* time as a Showtime series titled Twin Peaks: The Return in 2017.

True to his creative spirit, David Lynch was developing new projects right up until his death earlier this year—and according to longtime producer Sabrina Sutherland, his limited series Unrecorded Night might have been his greatest work yet.
While speaking with A Rabbit’s Foot magazine, Sutherland was asked about Unrecorded Night. “I’ll say this: It was probably the best thing he ever did,” she said. “It was a culmination of a lot of things. We worked on this for over two years in terms of writing, and we were still writing up until the point he passed away.“
Sutherland added that they were “getting ready to go back to Netflix because he had re-envisioned some things about it, and it had morphed into something even better than it was. I hope that one day people will be able to experience it in some way.“

Deep into the second season of "Twin Peaks," the groundbreaking TV series created by David Lynch and Mark Frost, the twisted Windom Earle (Kenneth Welsh) holds Major Garland Briggs (Don Davis) hostage, torturing him for more information on the mysterious and mystical Black Lodge. When Earle asks a drugged Briggs about what he fears most in the world, the warm-hearted soldier responds, "The possibility that love is not enough." It's a statement which, like so much in Lynch's work and in the show itself, has enormous resonance and weight. In particular, the sentiment refers not just to one of the major themes of the series but also to the real-world fate of the show itself.
When the episode containing that scene aired in early 1991, the reception of "Twin Peaks" as one of the most popular and exciting new shows to air on network television had shifted, with not only...

Fans of the worlds created by David Lynch felt that they lost one of the greatest storytellers in Hollywood when the director passed away. Having already come to terms with the knowledge that Lynch was working on bringing something new to Netflix prior to his death, writer Mark Frost has revealed that a further expansion of the Twin Peaks universe could have been on the cards.
Twin Peaks became a TV phenomenon in the 1990s, a show that defied categorization unless you wanted to list every genre available and then make up a few more to cover the gaps. Lynch’s visionary style, mind-boggling logic, and some truly horrifying moments combined to make a series that still stands as a truly unique experience. The iconic director's cult classic series featured a vast array of famous actors, including Heather Graham as Annie, a diner waitress from Season 2 who was also a love interest to Special Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan). MovieWeb recently caught up with Graham while she was promoting her latest Western film, Gunslingers, and the celebrated actress took time to reflect on her involvement in Lynch's small-screen project — especially as his daughter recently unveiled Lynch's mysterious Hollywood gravestone.

When Lost premiered in 2004, it became one of the most popular and decade-defining shows, garnering high viewership from a loyal fan base and numerous Emmy nominations. By the time the series finale aired in 2011, it had become one of the most talked-about events in the history of TV, but for all the wrong reasons. For an audience who had been constantly tuning in for six straight seasons, only to be met with no solid payoff to it all, it’s still considered to be one of the most disappointing series finales of all time. It received heavy bouts of criticism for the way it wrapped up its story, leaving behind several unanswered questions in the process. However, it certainly was not the only series to end without any straight answers.

"Twin Peaks" — David Lynch and Mark Frost's inimitable surrealist-horror series — intrigued and disoriented television audiences when it premiered on ABC in 1990. A heady mix of soap opera parody and dream logic permeates the quaint town of Twin Peaks, whose inhabitants flit between being conscious caricatures and complex, flesh-and-blood characters with vast inner worlds. On its surface, the question of "Who killed Laura Palmer?" haunts the delightfully peculiar episodes of its first season, but the show's procedural garb slowly sheds itself to reveal something unspeakably frightening. And of course, there's the Lynchian aspect of it all, where the show's surreal mythology hones in on spiritual and psychological malaise to examine the root of evil. Every thread connected to Laura and the town itself is unraveled by Special Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan), whose presence feels fated in this story of cyclical trauma.

The late David Lynch is one of Hollywood's most influential surrealist filmmakers. From "Eraserhead" to "Blue Velvet" to "Mulholland Drive," his work explores everything from the horror of parenting to the darkest underbellies of America in a way that's unmistakably, well, "Lynchian." However, while most of Lynch's work is dark and horrific -- as evidenced by the time he directed the single greatest jump scare in history -- it's often punctuated by moments of absurdist humor. Unfortunately, his first attempt at making an out-and-out sitcom didn't work out as well as he probably hoped, but "On the Air" is an interesting outlier in his oeuvre.
After Lynch changed television forever with "Twin Peaks" (a show whose influence can be found in everything from "Lost" to "Riverdale"), he and Mark Frost teamed up again for this short-lived comedy about the entertainment industry. "On the Air" centers around the cast and...

Whether you love space exploration, time travel, or supernatural mysteries, here’s where to watch.
Some of the most important family time I had as a kid was staying up from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. with my parents and sister to watch the space adventures of Captain Jean-Luc Picard and his crew on the USS Enterprise. That’s the power of cult-classic sci-fi and fantasy shows; they’re just not entertainment - they’re portals to other worlds. Whether it’s shadowy government conspiracies, parallel universes, time loops, or space captains making impossible choices, these stories hit differently. They made us question reality, fear what lurked in the unknown, and dream of what’s out there in the stars. So, where’s the best place to stream them? It comes down to two strong contenders. If you’re looking for the best cult classic sci-fi and fantasy shows, my picks are Paramount+ and Hulu.

Shows like Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Rocko's Modern Life, Clarissa Explains It All, and Hey Arnold! didn't shy away from exploring complex emotions, surreal humor, or even darker themes, treating young audiences with a level of respect. But among the network’s standout programming, The Adventures of Pete & Pete remains one of the most bizarre, creative, and unexpectedly poignant series of the decade. With its dreamlike atmosphere, quirky small-town setting, and offbeat characters, the show was basically Twin Peaks for kids — offering an accessible surreal, magical realism-laced viewing experience that still holds up today.
Both Twin Peaks and Pete & Pete exist within towns that operate on their own strange internal logic, full of eccentric characters who often feel like they’ve wandered in from another dimension. While...

The entertainment industry suffered an enormous loss on January 15 following the tragic passing of famed director, David Lynch. The filmmaker, known for projects like Twin Peaks and The Elephant Man, worked with several top stars of the industry, but there was one star that slipped through his fingers. There was arguably no bigger pop culture phenomenon in the '80s and '90s than Madonna, and despite several efforts to do so, the late Lynch never got the opportunity for the singer turned actress to star in one of his creations.
Throughout that time, Madonna starred in iconic films such as A League Of Their Own, cementing herself as a singer with at least some semblance of acting prowess (for the most part). However, for whatever reason, it was not meant to be, and regardless of any plans Lynch may have had, it never went beyond the planning phase.

At first glance, Amy Sherman-Palladino's Gilmore Girls and David Lynch's Twin Peaks appear to inhabit entirely different television realms. The former is celebrated for its rapid-fire dialogue and heartwarming portrayal of life in the quaint town of Stars Hollow, while the latter delves into the eerie mysteries lurking beneath the surface of a seemingly idyllic town. However, the two works and towns are a tapestry of shared themes, actors, and direct references that intertwine these two iconic series in unexpected ways.
Both shows center around small towns teeming with distinctive characters, where the line between charm and peculiarity often blurs. The small towns of Stars Hollow and Twin Peaks serve as microcosms of American life, each with its own set of idiosyncrasies that captivate audiences. Beyond their settings, the two series share a surprising number of cast members and deliberate nods, and, with Sherman-Palladino a noted fan of Lynch,...

There have been a few cult classic TV series with the continuous allure of Twin Peaks. The 1990 series was co-created by filmmaker David Lynch and writer Mark Frost and chronicled the mysterious goings-on of a small Pacific Northwest town of the same name after high-schooler Laura Palmer's (Sheryl Lee) untimely demise. The surreal atmosphere of the setting and story is only as good as the eclectic cast that helps bring it to life, though - some of whom can also be easily recognized in other popular TV shows. Kyle Maclachlan, for instance, plays Agent Dale Cooper and can also be seen in Desperate Housewives, Portlandia, and, more recently, Fallout. Then there's Mädchen Amick, who portrays waitress Shelly Johnson and also appears in the largely Twin Peaks-inspired Riverdale as Alice Cooper. But perhaps the most fascinating of them all is Sherilyn Fenn, who not only appears in series such as...
