  • She was a bigger star than Dilip Kumar, Raj Kapoor and Dev Anand. She was regularly given top billing over her male co-stars, and her name was enough to open movies.
  • The Indian actress Nargis made her only appearance in a Greek film in So Many Dreams on the Streets (1968). Her movies were popular in Greece.
  • Formed one of the most popular Hindi on-screen couples with Raj Kapoor. Off-screen, she was deeply in love with the already married Raj Kapoor.
  • In Mother India (1957), she played Sunil Dutt's mother. While shooting for the film, Sunil rescued her from fire when she was trapped. The two fell in love and later married. But she was elder than Sunil Dutt and both of them had different religions. Despite this, they married.
