Jeff Ward, Mackenyu, Emily Rudd, Jacob Romero, Taz Skylar, and Iñaki Godoy in One Piece (2023)
Netflix will keep sailing the high seas.

The streamer has given an early season three renewal to its live-action adaptation of One Piece, announcing the pickup at an annual celebration of Eiichiro Oda’s long-running manga in Tokyo. The renewal comes several months ahead of the season two premiere, which is slated for 2026. Additionally, Netflix announced that Ian Stokes will join Joe Tracz as co-showrunner on season three, which is set to begin filming later this year. Stokes wrote two episodes and was a co-executive producer of season one. Former co-showrunner Matt Owens departed the show in March; he and Tracz were co-showrunners on the second season, while Owens and Steven Maeda ran the first season.

Along with the renewal announcement, Netflix released a teaser for season...

‘Married… With Children’ Stars Say Unpleasant Set Was Full of ‘Sarcasm and S*** Talking’
Image
The behind-the-scenes vibe on Married…With Children sounds just as dark and snarky as the sitcom’s comedy, according to Katey Sagal and Christina Applegate, commiserating together on Sagal’s Pie podcast.

As a young actress, Applegate was navigating her mother’s cancer battle, and the atmosphere on set wasn’t helping. “I wasn’t into like sarcasm and shit-talking and negativity,” she told Sagal. “I kind of felt like I didn’t belong, really, with everybody.”

Sagal got it. “The vibe on our set was so freaking cynical,” she explained. “We were a sarcastic, cynical bunch. You weren’t safe, really. You know, you turned your back, somebody’s gonna talk shit on you.”

That was no secret to Applegate. “I could hear being talked shit about in my dressing room, on the monitor in my room,” she said. “Like, I’d come up from rehearsal, and I could...

Married... With Children Stars Remember "S**t-talking" Behind Each Other's Backs
Image
Married... With Children is a classic comedy, but there were personality clashes behind the scenes.

Christina Applegate and Katey Sagal, who played Kelly and Peggy respectively, spoke about the Married... With Children off-camera atmosphere on an episode of Sagal's podcast, Pie, via Entertainment Weekly. It wasn't always amicable. Applegate remembered feeling like she never fit in, because of all the "sarcasm and s**t-talking and negativity."

Sagal agreed with her. "We were a sarcastic, cynical bunch," she said. "You weren't safe, really. You turned your back, somebody's gonna talk s**t on you." Applegate even remembered a time when she went to her dressing room and heard people - although not Sagal - insulting her over a monitor. "I was like, 'Wow, I was just there 20 seconds ago,'" she said.

Yet despite all that, there's no bad blood between Applegate and her fellow cast members. Applegate is close...

Christina Applegate to Publish Memoir ‘You With the Sad Eyes’ (Exclusive)
Christina Applegate
Christina Applegate has lived nearly her entire life in the spotlight. She first gained fame playing the onscreen daughter of Ed O’Neill and Katey Sagal on the beloved 1980s sitcom Married…With Children; she was 16 when the show premiered. Though she’s been in countless television shows and films since (Friends, Anchorman, the Broadway revival of Sweet Charity), the actress has kept many of her life’s moments to herself — until now. Applegate will publish her first memoir in March 2026, The Hollywood Reporter can exclusively announce.

You With the Sad Eyes will cover Applegate’s life and legacy, starting with her tumultuous childhood in Laurel Canyon in the ’70s, her earliest years on set and the struggles (abuse, body dysmorphia and more) that plagued her meteoric rise.

“I decided to write this book when I was forced to slow down,” says Applegate. “I’ve had a career in TV and...

Animated Married... With Children Revival With Original Stars Gets an Unfortunate Update
Image
In the era of nonstop reboots and revivals, there have long been plans to bring back the hit comedy series Married... with Children. An animated revival series has been in the works for several years with all of the original show's lead stars on board to reprise their roles.

However, this particular revival was not meant to be, according to the latest update on the project. Per TVLine, it's been revealed that the project has officially been scrapped, no longer in active development. The good news is that the IP "remains very important to Sony Pictures Television," and classic episodes remain available for streaming on platforms like Hulu and Pluto TV. Perhaps that means the door is still open for something like a one-off revival special, if nothing else, even if that seems unlikely at this point.

If the animated show went forward, it would have brought Christina Applegate back to acting.

Image
Two years ago, the animated revival of the beloved sitcom, Married… With Children, was said to be in development with the original cast attached to return, including Katey Sagal,Ed O’Neill, Christina Applegate, and David Faustino. Later in 2023, Applegate confirmed that the group remained attached to the project, but since then, nothing further has been shared until now. Unfortunately, it appears that the long-running comedy won’t be getting that animated rebootafter all; nevertheless, fans can always hope for another one in the near future.

As reported by TVLine, the animated Married… With Children series is no longer in development, although the IP remains very important to Sony Pictures Television. In the meantime, fans can revisit the Bundys’ “bawdy antics” currently available on Hulu, Pluto TV, Roku, and Cozi TV. The satirical show was created by Michael G. The Conners' John Goodman Reveals The Truth About His Relationship With Roseanne Barr After Her Disney Firing
Image
Months after The Conners series finale aired, series star John Goodman revealed that he hasn't spoken to Roseanne's original star Roseanne Barr in years. The Conners’ cast of characters were all likable, but the sitcom wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for Roseanne Barr’s original sitcom heroine, Roseanne. Roseanne was the title character of the working-class family sitcom.

Roseanne lasted nine seasons from 1988 until 1997, with its ninth outing earning terrible reviews and audience feedback. Roseanne was revived in 2017 to critical and ratings success, but the reunion was short-lived. Series star Roseanne Barr was fired in 2018 for racist tweets.

Recently, The Conners star John Goodman told The Hollywood Reporter "I’d rather doubt if she wants to talk to me" and that he and Barr “haven’t talked for about seven or eight years."

'Rick and Morty' Dominates HBO Max's Beloved 89% Rotten Tomatoes Period Drama in the Global Streaming Ranks
Image
Rick and MortySeason 8 has proven divisive, earning plenty of praise following a dismal Season 7. However, with controversy still affecting the adult animation, it can't seem to shake off some of the negativity. However, following the surprise cameos of James Gunn and Zack Snyder in Season 8's seventh episode, "Ricker Than Fiction," it seems that the series can at least celebrate its own streaming success as it tops HBO Max's streaming charts across the world.

Per FlixPatrol, as of July 8, 2025, Rick and Morty is the most-watched show on HBO globally, topping the charts in Australia, Belize, Poland, Slovakia, and more. However, in the U.S., on the very same date, Rick and Morty did not top the charts, instead losing out to the current global #2, The Gilded Age, which is currently airing its third season. Globally, The Gilded Age's #2 spot has only been marginally achieved, with the Sex and...

“Be as Outrageous as You Could Be”: Fox’s Only Demand From Ed O’Neill’s ‘Married… With Children’
Image
The Fox executives had only one rule when they greenlit the iconic sitcom Married… With Children as one of their first primetime series ever, be as bold as they can. The series, which ran from 1987 to 1997, starred an ensemble cast including Ed O’Neill and Katey Sagal in a hilariously dysfunctional family.

And it didn’t take long for the show to become a hit and gain a reputation for its crude humor, sharp social commentary, and willingness to offend, all of which helped the network enter as a bold new player in primetime broadcast.

Sorry Ed O’Neill, We Weren’t Familiar With Your Game: Married… With Children’s Steamiest Katey Sagal Episode Still Hits Hard 36 Years Later
Image
The iconic Season 4 premiere of Married… With Children continued to sizzle with fans even more than three decades after its original release. Since its 1987 release, Married… With Children has become a pop culture staple for its unapologetic, raunchy humor and subversive take on the concept of the American family.

Created by Michael G. Moye and Ron Leavitt, the series follows the dysfunctional Bundy family, with Ed O’Neill as the downtrodden shoe salesman Al Bundy and Katey Sagal as his iconic, teasing, and effortlessly sultry wife, Peggy.

And though the series enjoyed an 11-season run, few episodes have stayed in the conversation quite like Hot Off the Grill, where both O’Neill and Sagal’s performance cemented the episode’s status as a fan-favorite.

38 Years Later, 1 of the '90s' Greatest Sitcoms Is a Global Streaming Success
Image
One of the most iconic sitcoms of the late 80s and 90s, Married… with Children, is seeing a bit of an influx in popularity on streaming. Having made its debut on April 5th, 1987, the increase in interest in the show comes 38 years after its initial release.

Per Flixpatrol, Married… with Children currently holds the #10 spot on HBO Max's worldwide top TV shows as of June 20th, 2025. Known for being one of the first sitcoms featuring a more raunchy tone, the show was riddled with controversy while also being considered one of the best sitcoms of the time. Set in Chicago and following the comically dysfunctional Bundy family, the series follows their misadventures that would oftentimes directly subvert the more family-friendly tropes of the time.

The Bundy family patriarch, Al Bundy (played by Ed O'Neill), is depicted as a sleazy, misanthropic shoe salesman who deeply resents his family. There's also his wife,...

Why The Kaley Cuoco Sitcom 8 Simple Rules Was Canceled
Image
These days, Kaley Cuoco is primarily known for playing Penny on "The Big Bang Theory." However, viewers who watched sitcoms in the early 2000s probably discovered her through ABC's "8 Simple Rules," in which she portrayed Bridget Hennessy, a ditzy high school student who is obsessed with boys, fashion, and popularity. Also starring John Ritter, Katey Sagal, Amy Davidson, Martin Spanjers, James Garner, and David Spade, the series ran for three seasons before its network lost faith in it -- but what led to the show's cancellation?

As is the case with most great TV shows that get canceled way too soon, "8 Simple Rules" was the victim of dwindling ratings. Season 1 averaged close to 11 million viewers per episode, while the second installment fell to 9.98 million. That isn't a massive drop off, mind you, but the third chapter proved to be the sitcom's death knell, with the show attracting around...

This Diane Keaton And Liam Neeson Flop Caused Star Trek V To Be Delayed
Image
Trekkies will likely be able to tell you how difficult William Shatner's 1989 film "Star Trek V: The Final Frontier" was to make. There was a labor strike early in production, and an attempt to pull a fast one on the Teamsters Union, leading to a mysterious truck explosion (which may or may not have been related). There was also an issue with the film's SFX, as the studio couldn't afford to hire Industrial Light & Magic, forcing them to hire a cheaper replacement at the last minute. It also suffered from a bad script conceived of by Shatner himself. One of the stipulations of his contract dictated that he would take a lower salary on "Star Trek IV" if he got to direct and write a treatment for "Star Trek V." What he came up with, though, wasn't terribly polished.

Then, at the end of all that, the film bombed.

Netflix Sets Sail For 2026 With New Faces, Big Story Arcs & Grand Line Drama(Photo Credit –Instagram)

The Straw Hats are gearing up for another wild voyage, and it’s finally official — One Piece Season 2 is sailing our way in 2026. Netflix made the big reveal during Tudum 2025: The Live Event, and yes, the Grand Line is calling. After a record-breaking first season, Luffy and crew are back, and production has already wrapped. That means the wait for more action, heartbreak, and devil-fruit chaos just got real.

Co-showrunner Matt Owens teases that things are about to get deeper and wilder: “When the Season 2 writers’ room got together, we knew how far we were going to get, and that this character Dr. Kureha was going to be a big part of the season.” If that wasn’t enough to send fans spiraling, he added (via Netflix), “Oda told everyone we’ll be...

One Piece Live-Action: Tony Tony Chopper’s Design Is Just the Sonic the Hedgehog Incident All Over Again
Image
Netflix Tudum is one of the largest global cultural events that unites several fandoms together. Now that the streaming service has expanded its arsenal, Netflix Tudum 2025 might have been the most exciting one so far, held on 31st May.

What stood out during Tudum 2025 is the reveal of Tony Tony Chopper for One Piece’s live-action series. Out of all the new characters for Season 2, fans were most worried about how they’d portray the human-reindeer hybrid, and now he’s here.

The preview caused mixed reactions amongst seasoned One Piece fans. This debate was predictable since an animal main character is far from easy to cast, so CGI was their best option. However, people are displeased by his design.

Live-action Tony Tony Chopper is finally here, but One Piece fans have a lot to say about him
