Exclusive: RedBird Imi is continuing to double down on the production sector with its latest deal – a partnership with A-Frame Productions, the company founded by Full Swing and 100 Days to Indy producer Pat Dimon.

Dimon founded A-Frame Productions in 2020 after a decade with HBO Sports. He was exec producer and director on The CW’s 100 Days to Indy and showrunner and co-exec producer on Netflix’s golf series Full Swing and also worked on 24/7: Kelly Slater.

A-Frame will be supported by Bright North Studios, which just completed a deal with RedBird Imi, and will work across the latter’s portfolio, which also includes All3Media and EverWonder Studio. A-Frame is currently working on new projects with sports organizations and athletes.

There will no third season for Apple’s surfing docuseries Make or Break. The streamer has canceled the series after two seasons, sources confirm to Deadline.

The series followed World Surf League elite champions Kelly Slater, Stephanie Gilmore, Gabriel Medina, Tyler Wright, Italo Ferreira and Tatiana Weston-Webb as they battled for the World Champion title.

The first season followed the 2021 competition, navigating as the league responds to the global pandemic, while exploring the surfing culture along with issues including diversity, mental health, and the physical impact of the sport.

Make or Break was produced by Box to Box Films with Amy producer James Gay-Rees, Formula 1: Drive to Survive producer Paul Martin and Wsl CEO Erik Logan and Wsl Studios chief Ryan Holcomb exec producing.

Chris Davidson, an ex-surfing champion who won his first surfing honor at the age of 15, died on Saturday after allegedly hitting his head falling from a punch in a brawl near Sydney. He was 45 years old.

Davidson’s biggest claim to fame in his surfing career was when he beat legendary surfer Kelly Slater in two heats of The Rip Curl Pro event when he was 19. Slater wrote about Davidson’s passing on Sunday, saying he was “one of the most naturally talented surfers I know.”

The fight reportedly occurred sometime before 11 p.m. on Saturday in the small town of New South Rocks. Davidson reportedly fell after a punch to the face and struck his head on the pavement. At Saturday’s A+E Networks and History Channel’s History Talks in Washington D.C., moderator Gayle King asked Roberts about the negotiation tactics she employed to gain equal pay.

“I didn’t feel so boxish about it, but I felt like, ‘Come on,” Roberts said. “Which is my nature — not to be all up-in-arms about something, but to say, ‘Let’s get real. Let’s be fair.'”

Apple TV+ is taking a deep dive into the careers of some more iconic athletes for Season 2 of its short-form documentary series “Greatness Code.”

The series, which launches on April 29, follows World Surf League elite champions, Kelly Slater, Stephanie Gilmore, Gabriel Medina, Tyler Wright, Italo Ferreira, and Tatiana Weston-Webb as they battle for the championship.

The seven-part series also explores the aspirations, challenges, accomplishments, and personal lives of the surfers who compete to remain on the elite 2021 Men’s and Women’s Wsl Championship Tour.

ABC has canceled the water-based competition series after one season.

The show premiered in August 2021 and ran for eight eps but it struggled to find a big wave of fans with its opening episode being boarded by less than 1.5M viewers and a 0.3 in the demo.

The series featured top up-and-coming surfers training and battling it out at the surf ranch with men and women competing in individual and team challenges focused on specific surfing disciplines.

Before the Oscars even began, longtime enthusiasts were fuming over the Academy’s awkward and unnecessary attempt to speed up the show by announcing eight winners in the hour before the official start time, while the red carpet was still being aired. Viewers could watch Jason Momoa getting interviewed on ABC about how excited he was to give out the awards while, simultaneously, watching him actually give out those exact same awards on cellphone footage on Twitter.

After going without a host for three consecutive years in a row, the 94th Academy Awards will be helmed by the trio of Wanda Sykes, Regina hall and Amy Schumer. History will be made since this is the first time the ceremony has ever been hosted by three women.

Several changes have been made to this year’s Oscars, including the introduction of a new award: the Fan-Favorite Award, which will be decided by a popular vote held on Twitter. This award aims to spotlight box office busing films that didn’t receive nods from the Academy like “No Time to Die” and “Spider-Man: No Way Home.”

The presentation of the awards will also differ, as eight categories will be taped before the start of the live broadcast, and the footage will be broken up throughout the broadcast.
