Everyone Who Has Ever Hosted ‘Saturday Night Live’
Image
Since 1975 nearly a thousand hosts have graced the stage at Studio 8H at Rockefeller Center for “Saturday Night Live.”

Actors, comedians, musicians and even politicians have taken the stage to make America laugh on Saturday night for 50 seasons. Twenty five of these hosts have been inducted into the “Five Timers Club.” The club was first introduced during Tom Hanks’ 1990 monologue, featuring Steve Martin, Elliott Gould and Paul Simon.

During Martin Short’s December 2024 appearance, several Five Timers Club members popped up on the show to welcome him into the club, including Emma Stone, Tina Fey, Paul Rudd, Kristen Wiig and more, to give him the ceremonial robe.

Alec Baldwin has hosted the show 17 times, the most in the series’ history, with Martin, Hanks, Buck Henry and John Goodman following close behind.

As the show celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, we have rounded up every person who has hosted the sketch show.

When To Start Watching: Dallas
Image
“Who Shot Jr?” was a question that mesmerized the world. But it only did so from the final episode of Dallas Season 3, which aired on March 21, 1980, through the fourth episode of Season 4, which aired on November 21, 1980, and revealed the culprit. (Want to know whodunit? Watch the show on Amazon Prime. We’re not going to spoil your fun.) We’ll tell you when it’s a good time to stop watching the 1980s’ hottest primetime shows next week. This week, we’re focusing on when you should start.

Soap Hub may receive a commission on orders placed through retail links.

Standing at the Beginning With You

Sure, if you’re a completist, you could start watching Dallas with Season One. Watch if you want to see a much more low-key, not nearly as glam Southfork Ranch. Watch is you want to learn — shockingly — that Pam (Victoria Principal) first met star-crossed...

Charlene Tilton: Net Worth, Age, Height & Everything You Need To Know About The Dallas Actress
Image
Charlene Tilton may not be as rich as her famous Dallas character, but the actress still has a high net worth. Tilton has been acting since the 1970s, with her first onscreen appearance in a 1976 Happy Days episode. That same year, she also appeared as Bambi in the original Freaky Friday, starring Jodie Foster. However, Tilton is by far most famous for her role as Lucy Ewing, daughter of Gary and Valene and niece of the villainous J.R. Lucy started the series as a troublemaking teen, and her many of her storylines revolved around her tumultuous romantic life.

Not much is known about Tilton's early life, other than that she was born to single mother Katherine Thacker, a secretary, in San Diego, California, and that she was living on her own at age 15. Tilton has been married twice. Her first marriage was to country singer Johnny Lee from 1982-...

Buffalo 8 Lands Worldwide Distribution For Christmas Horror Thriller ‘Final Recovery’ (Exclusive)
Image
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good fright: Buffalo 8 has acquired worldwide distribution rights for the upcoming holiday horror thriller “Final Recovery.”

From the team behind the award-winning series “Kombucha Cure,” the film marks the first lead role for veteran character actor Jasper Cole, who has over 120 film and television credits to his name in a career that has spanned four decades.

“Final Recovery” is about an addiction recovery facility, Sage, in Southeast Michigan where profits (and not healing) are the top priority. Louise “Nanny Lou” Stamey owns and operates the center, and while most in town believe her to be saint-like, the reality is much more sinister and twisted. Only after patients Rodney and Dustin become suspicious of Nanny Lou’s motives do things begin to unravel.

Other cast members include Charlene Tilton, Richard Tyson, Michael Emery, Cherish Lee (“American History X”), Damian Chinappi (“The Girl in the Attic...

God's Not Dead: In God We Trust (2024)
Praise the Lord, and Pass the A+ Cinemascore
God's Not Dead: In God We Trust (2024)
“God’s Not Dead: In God We Trust” (Fathom) and “Am I Racist?” (Sdg) won’t register with most mainstream moviegoers, but this weekend they could rank as high as #3 and #4 (in either order), behind “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” (Warner Bros.) and the debuting “Speak No Evil” (Universal). Also in the mix are Lionsgate’s new “The Killer’s Game” and the 8th weekend of “Deadpool & Wolverine.”

Of these, guess which two are top candidates for receiving the rare A+ Cinemascore.

There’s a history of lucrative performances for similar films that appeal to conservative faith-based or Maga-related audiences (which frequently overlap). The progressive side has its analogs, particularly in Michael Moore documentaries, but for the last decade or more nearly all the preach-to-the-choir breakthroughs come from the right wing of the ideological spectrum.

Most fall far short of the grosses for “The Passion of the Christ” (Picturehouse) or “Sound of Freedom” (Angel). With budgets modest to small,...

Would You Wait Six Hours for Priscilla Presley’s Autograph?
Image
Kim Gwizdala and Nikka Markarian have driven four hours to be here today. They’ve dressed in Dallas-style outfits (cropped jackets and black suede cowboy boots) and are sporting Reagan-era ’dos (blown out and heavily feathered). And now, these best friends from Las Vegas, both 32, will spend several more hours in line at a hotel in Burbank, waiting to meet the 83-year-old actress who, decades ago — before Gwizdala and Markarian were even born — played J.R. Ewing’s long-suffering wife. The character who tried to buy a baby on the black market, spent the better part of a season locked away in a sanitarium and whose sister shot her husband.

“Linda Gray!” they chime in unison, as if reciting a holy incantation.

And those are just two of the more than 2,500 rabid fans who have converged at the Burbank Marriott on this hazy weekend in March for The Hollywood Show,...

David Jacobs, Creator of ‘Dallas’ and ‘Knots Landing,’ Dies at 84
Image
David Jacobs, the writer and producer who changed the face of television in the 1980s by creating the primetime soap operas Dallas and Knots Landing, has died. He was 84.

Jacobs died Sunday at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, his son Aaron told The Hollywood Reporter. He had battled Alzheimer’s over the years and died of complications from a series of infections.

Dallas in its original incarnation aired for 14 seasons and 357 episodes, starting out as a five-part miniseries in April 1978 before wrapping in May 1991, and it was the No. 1 show in the Nielsen ratings after its fourth, fifth and seventh seasons. Meanwhile, the spinoff Knots Landing debuted in December 1979 and also ran for 14 seasons — and 344 episodes — a solid Thursday night staple through May 1993.

Based on his work as a story editor for the ABC drama Family, Jacobs had scored a deal at Lorimar Productions, where he struck up a friendship with Michael Filerman,...

‘Dallas’: THR’s 1978 Review
Image
On April 2, 1978, CBS premiered its primetime soap opera Dallas, which would go on to run for fourteen seasons at the network. The Hollywood Reporter’s original review, which appeared as part of a TeleVisions column, is below:

Passing In Review: Melodrama emerges full blown with Dallas, a new CBS limited run series which debuted over the weekend, and with it TV has a new Peyton Place. As the title suggests, the series takes place in Texas — yes, Dallas, Texas — and revolves around the more sordid adventures, schemes and romances of the Ewing clan.

That’s short for Texas oil. The ads for the hour-drama read “A family ruthless in its quest for power and passion. Ready to destroy two people who dared their own blood for the right to love.” The two people, as it turns out, are Patrick Duffy of Man From Atlantis fame and Victoria Principal.

Duffy’s...

Alan Canter Dies: Owner Of Canter’s Deli Was 82
Alan Canter, whose family deli has been a late night fixture in Hollywood for decades, has died. He passed Friday of natural causes, according to his family.

Relatives wrote a tribute on Facebook: “He kept his family legacy alive and built and L.A. landmark. He worked 18-hour shifts and took pride in hand-cutting each fruit cup. He taught his children how to run this business just as his father taught him. We are deeply saddened by this loss.”

Al Canter’s father, Ben Canter, and his brothers opened the original deli in 1931 in Boyle Heights. In 1953, Canter’s moved into its North Fairfax Avenue home, and became one of the city’s first 24-hour restaurants, a favored haunt for club goers, stars, rockers and just the merely hungry. The deli has also been the site of numerous parties, and hosts music in the famed Kibbitz Room. It is...

First Trailer for Action Film 'Vengeance: A Love Story' with Nicolas Cage
"Leave us alone!" FilmRise has debuted an official trailer for a new action film titled Vengeance: A Love Story, adapted from the Joyce Carol Oates novel titled Rape: A Love Story. The story is about a local police officer who goes for vengeance when a local gang rapes a woman. The criminals find a way to walk away free thanks to a hot shot lawyer, and so the detective takes matters into his own hands. Nicolas Cage stars as John Dromoor, with a cast including Anna Hutchison, Talitha Bateman, Deborah Kara Unger, Don Johnson, Joshua Mikel, Rocco Nugent, Joe Ochterbeck, Carter Burch, and Charlene Tilton. This looks like a generic vengeance movie, especially with Nicolas Cage, but who knows. It's also interesting they removed the word "rape" from any description of this film, but it's definitely a major part of the plot. Here's the first trailer (+ new poster) for Johnny Martin...

'Dallas' Season 3, episode 4: 'Lifting the Veil' on a bride ... and on other matters
There's nothing like a Ewing-family wedding to lure familiar faces back to Southfork Ranch.

Such guests were present in "Lifting the Veil," Monday's (March 17) episode of TNT's "Dallas" update. The occasion was the official nuptials of the already eloped John Ross (Josh Henderson) and Pamela (Julie Gonzalo), but complications arose right from the start of the big day, as John Ross' secretary Candice (Jude Demorest) summoned him to a long-sought meeting about the fracking permit he wanted.

"I've gotta take another raincheck," he told the romantically inclined Pamela, but he promised he'd be back in plenty of time for the ceremony. Her worried look indicated she didn't completely buy it.

Sue Ellen confirmed to Ann that John Ross was dallying with Emma ... "and we have got to do something about it." To that end, Sue Ellen wanted Emma to leave Southfork, but Ann feared that might make the drug cartel suspicious.
