Gregg Araki to Debut ‘Mysterious Skin’ 4K Restoration at the Academy Museum
Image
Gregg Araki is ready to bring “Mysterious Skin” into the 2020s: The writer/director will unveil the 4K restoration of the acclaimed 2004 indie at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures on September 19 as part of the museum’s overall fall programming slate. Araki will participate in an onstage conversation after the screening with lead star Joseph Gordon-Levitt and novelist Scott Heim, who wrote the source material; Sean Baker will moderate. The 4K presentation comes courtesy of Strand Releasing and will tour theaters next year.

Set in the 1980s and ’90s, the coming-of-age drama stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, a pre-director-days Brady Corbet, Michelle Trachtenberg, and Elisabeth Shue. It follows the lives of Gordon-Levitt and Corbet as childhood friends who were both sexually abused, and how that abuse shapes and distorts their journeys into young adulthood; Corbet’s character disappears into an alien-abduction fantasy, while Gordon-Levitt’s becomes a street hustler in New...

Gossip Girls Cast and Where Are They Now 13 Years After the Show Ended
Image
It’s been over a decade since Gossip Girl aired its final scandalous text, but the original cast has been anything but idle. From A-list marriages and chart-topping careers to heartbreaking losses and long-awaited comebacks, the stars of the iconic CW teen drama have rewritten their own scripts far beyond Manhattan’s Upper East Side.

While the 2021 Gossip Girl reboot gave a nostalgic nod to the OGs (with Michelle Trachtenberg reprising her role as Georgina Sparks), it was axed in 2023. Trachtenberg tragically passed away in February 2025 at just 39, following a liver transplant.

Showrunner Josh Schwartz once said (per TV Line):

We’ve reached out to all of them to let them know it was happening, and we would love for them to be involved if they want to be involved….They played those characters for six years, and if they felt like they were good with that, we wanted to respect that.

Sarah Michelle Gellar Starts Training for ‘Buffy’ Reboot with New Star Ryan Kiera Armstrong
Image
The updates on the forthcoming “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” reboot have been trickling in throughout 2025, so much so that even the slightest inkling of progress sends fans into a frenzy. Buffy herself, Sarah Michelle Gellar, clearly understands this better than anybody, so I’m sure she knew exactly what she was doing when she posted a video to Instagram on August 3 working out with Ryan Kiera Armstrong, the actress tapped to lead Hulu’s “Buffy” revamp.

Gellar’s caption didn’t reveal much, saying simply, “Warrior 1 and 2 We don’t sweat … we sparkle.”

Armstrong, 15, is meant to be a new character in the “Buffy” universe, and Gellar herself — of course — is tapped to a return as Buffy Summers. The casting materials in May (via Deadline) described Armstrong’s character “as an introverted high-school student.”

“From the moment I saw Ryan’s audition,...

Sarah Michelle Gellar teases bringing back fan-favorite characters for the Buffy reboot
Image
Fans of Buffy The Vampire Slayer might see some of their favorites returning to the upcoming reboot. Sarah Michelle Gellar has teased to Vanity Fair Italia, that she hopes some of her former co-stars will appear in the supernatural series.

Gellar told the outlet that she and the show’s makers are working to balance new and old characters in the reboot. “My dream is to bring back everyone who has died, but space will have to be made for new stories as well.”

The show was famous for not being afraid to kill off characters, even when it wasn’t the most popular decision with fans. Decades later and fans haven’t forgiven creator Joss Whedon for Tara’s demise.

Alyson Hannigan’s Willow seems a likely character to bring back. Xander, who is played by Nicholas Brendon, is less surefire due to the actor’s own personal issues.

Sarah Michelle Gellar shares ‘Buffy’ reboot hopes: ‘My dream is to bring back everyone who has died’
Image
Sarah Michelle Gellar is offering fresh insight into the long-developing Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot. In a new interview with Vanity Fair Italia, the actress shared new details about the upcoming Hulu series and what finally convinced her to reprise the iconic role more than two decades after the original show ended.

“For so many years, I said no to a possible return of the series,” said Gellar, who received a Golden Globe nomination for Buffy but never had an Emmy bid. “I didn’t want to reintroduce something we had already seen. I waited for the right time to come. Then Chloé [Zhao], a big Buffy fan, proposed the project to me, and I accepted.”

The reboot has been in development quietly for several years. Nora and Lilla Zuckerman will be the showrunners and Zhao will direct the pilot and executive produce alongside Gellar, original series producers Fran and Kaz Kuzui,...

Image
Sarah Michelle Gellar wants to bring back the dead for the new “Buffy” reboot series. Gellar, who reprises the role of Buffy Summers for the Hulu pilot, said during the Filming Italy Sardegna Festival that she is determined to have her fellow alums return — even if their characters already died onscreen.

“Buffy the Vampire Slayer” aired on the WB for five seasons from 1997 to 2001 before moving to Upn for two more seasons. The series landed spinoff “Angel” from 1999 to 2004. Yet the revival — which is still at the pilot stage and hasn’t been greenlit to series just yet — will be different in tone from the franchise predecessors.

“It will be lighter than the last few seasons of the original,” Gellar said, as translated by Vanity Fair. “We will try to find a balance between new and old characters. My dream is to bring back everyone who has died, but space...

One Shot | “Mysterious Skin”
Image
One Shot invites close readings of the basic unit of film grammar.Gregg Araki’s Mysterious Skin is now showing on Mubi in many countries.Mysterious Skin. The first chapter of Scott Heim’s 1995 novel, Mysterious Skin, ends on a vision of something “hovering in the night air above our field, a group of soft blue lights.” A group of four behold the glow: eight-year-old Brian Lackey, his older sister Deborah, their mother, and Philip, a stranger to the children. With the family home behind them “like a portrait’s massive frame,” Brian wonders “how we looked to whoever or whatever manned the ship.” In Gregg Araki’s 2004 adaptation of the book, a reverse shot considers just this. The blue light oozes over their faces like that of a television set; in Brian’s glasses the glare bounces back, as if connected by beams to the thing seen. Araki omits the character of Philip,...

Sarah Michelle Gellar, Allison Hannigan Say ‘Buffy’ Reboot Will Honor Michelle Trachtenberg: ‘We’ll Do What’s Appropriate’
Image
During an interview with Parade, actresses Sarah Michelle Gellar and Alyson Hannigan addressed the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” reboot — which was confirmed to be in the works for Hulu earlier this year — but the stars remained mum on details.

“I know never to say never, but I’m excited to hear what Sarah says it’s like,” Hannigan said.

“That seems fair,” Gellar laughed.

Gellar did confirm that the series would pay tribute to the late actress Michelle Trachtenberg, who played her younger sister Dawn Summers seasons 5 through 7.

“We’ll be able to do something,” Gellar said. “We’ll do what’s appropriate.”

“I’m sure it will be handled with utter grace,” Hannigan added.

Gellar, who has reteamed with Hannigan for an awareness campaign surrounding meningitis vaccination, Ask2BSure, said that she and her former co-star share an easy rapport on set.

“We still finish each other’s sentences.

Leighton Meester Explains Why She Stepped Away From Making Pop Music: 'It Didn't Really Feel Good'

Leighton Meester is explaining why she distanced herself from making pop music.

If you didn’t know, in 2009, Leighton released songs “Somebody to Love,” “Your Love’s a Drug” and the hit “Good Girls God Bad” with Cobra Starship. However, in 2014, she released the folk-inspired album Heartstrings.

In a recent interview, the 39-year-old actress revealed why she decided to step away from her pop-leaning sound.

Keep reading to find out more…

“I just didn’t feel like I sang that well in those songs. That’s why I stopped doing that style of songwriting, because I didn’t feel really good when I would sing it. That was something that I figured out in my 20s,” she told Bustle.

We Can Hate Joss Whedon but a Key ‘Firefly’ Detail Makes Its Cancelation Even More Heartbreaking After 23 Years
Image
Firefly creator Joss Whedon may have fallen from grace after the serious accusations against him, but his creative genius in the Western space show won over many fans. While the ratings of the show during its run did not do justice to its quality, it only rose in popularity in the following 23 years. A key detail about the cast speaks volumes about Whedon’s work.

The stars of the show, Nathan Fillion, Morena Baccarin, Gina Torres, and Alan Tudyk, have all gone on to build great careers in successful sci-fi projects. It meant that the 2002 show could’ve gone places if Fox provided favorable conditions for its run. Sadly, the cult show didn’t get enough support from Fox from the get-go.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer fans recieved unexpected news over the past few months. First, a big announcement confirmed that Buffy was getting a reboot. Sarah Michelle Gellar's Buffy Summers would mentor a new Slayer, and the Buffyverse would finally be back on the small screen.

It was later shared that Michelle Trachtenberg, who played Buffy's sister Dawn in Buffy, passed away from complications of diabetes mellitus. Trachtenberg's passing had some Buffy fans questioning what would happen to Dawn in the series reboot.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot plans to honor Michelle Trachtenberg: 'We'll do what's appropriate'
Image
As news of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot came out, other tragic news also happened. Michelle Trachtenberg, who played Dawn Summers for three seasons of the series, passed away at the age of 39. She will be missed by the cast of the original series, and it turns out that Sarah Michelle Gellar and others have ideas to honor the actress.

Trachtenberg passed away suddenly in February 2025 at the age of 39. A later autopsy would reveal that it was linked to her liver transplant that she received a year earlier, making the loss even more tragic. Of course, there was hope before this that she would be part of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot to reprise her role as Dawn.

Sarah Michelle Gellar Promises ‘Buffy’ Reboot Will Honor the Late Michelle Trachtenberg
Image
After the tragic passing of Michelle Trachtenberg earlier this year, fans have been wondering how the long-awaited and highly-anticipated Buffy the Vampire Slayer sequel series would handle the absence of her character, Dawn. We finally have a bit of an idea after Gellar sat down with her former Buffy co-star, Alyson Hannigan, to chat with Parade about the Ask2BSure campaign. Acknowledging that the series will — in one way or another — pay homage to the late actress who appeared as Gellar’s on-screen sister, the Dexter: Original Sin star said, “Yeah, we’ll do something. We’ll do what’s appropriate.” Backing Gellar’s response, Hannigan added, “I’m sure they’ll handle it with utter grace."

Trachtenberg, who was a member of the original show’s cast during its final three seasons, sadly passed away back in February at the incredibly young age of 39. In the days that followed,...

Sarah Michelle Gellar Says 'Buffy' Reboot Will Honor Michelle Trachtenberg
Image
Michelle Trachtenberg is a millennial favorite for a reason. The actress starred in some of our favorite movies and TV shows during the most formative years of our lives. From childhood favorites like Harriet The Spy to the must-watch soapy teen dramas like Gossip Girl, Trachtenberg played more iconic characters before her tragic death at 39 earlier this year. So it's not really surprising that fans are curious to know whether the recently announced Buffy The Vampire Slayerreboot will honor our titular character's little sister, Dawn Summers, in some way.

Which is exactly why Parade asked that very question to original stars Sarah Michelle Gellar and Alyson Hannigan when they had a chance to talk to the duo in support of the Ask2BSure meningitis awareness campaign. Given that Gellar is extremely involved in the series, which is being showrun and executive produced by Nora and Lilla Zuckerman, her authority on the matter is truly second-to-none.

Image
Buffy Summers is all set for a big comeback! Yep, after more than two decades since she roamed the halls of Sunnydale High—stake in hand and saving the world before curfew—the iconic Buffy the Vampire Slayer is coming back with a full reboot. The original show, which aired from 1997 to 2003, wasn’t your average teen drama sprinkled with horror. It quickly became a fan favorite.

But her story was always about more than just taking down vampires. She was learning, growing, and healing through every fight. Behind all the fangs and fists was a young woman figuring out life, one apocalypse at a time.

And now, the Buffyverse is preparing for a new era, possibly with a fresh face ready to carry the slayer legacy forward. While the reboot’s details are still under wraps, one thing’s for sure—Buffy’s world is about to open up once again,...

Sarah Michelle Gellar Explains Why Buffy Reboot Is Needed Now 'More Than Ever'
Image
Buffy the Vampire Slayer fans have been celebrating ever since the news hit that the beloved supernatural drama was getting a reboot. In the past week they've had even more reason to cheer, because a new Slayer is in town: Ryan Kiera Armstrong will play Buffy's pupil in the new show. But the fans aren't the only ones excited - Sarah Michelle Gellar, the woman who brought Buffy to life, is too.

Gellar discussed it in a recent conversation with SiriusXM. During a conversation about the importance of Buffy, Gellar said her big hope for the reboot was that "it brings comfort." And indeed, for many young girls growing up in the '90s and '00s, Buffy was a great source of comfort. Young queer girls especially found solace in Willow, Alyson Hannigan's character, who discovered that she was gay over the course of the show.

Leighton Meester Speaks Publicly on Michelle Trachtenberg’s Death
Leighton Meester
Leighton Meester has spoken out for the first time about the death of her Gossip Girl co-star Michelle Trachtenberg, who died in February at age 39 from complications related to diabetes mellitus. The actress, known for her role as Blair Waldorf on the hit teen drama, reflected on Trachtenberg’s passing in a recent Flaunt magazine cover story.

“It’s devastating,” Meester said. “She was a wonderful, talented person, and everyone loved her. It’s very, very sad for everyone who knew her.”

'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' Reboot Star Sarah Michelle Gellar Debunks Character Rumor & Explains Why She Returned

It seems that some recent revelations about the upcoming Buffy The Vampire Slayer reboot are being staked through the heart by returning star Sarah Michelle Gellar. The actress is reprising her role as the former Slayer in a new sequel/reboot of the popular supernatural drama series, and in a recent interview she slayed one recent update on the new show, but offered plenty for fans to get their teeth into.

The series starred Gellar as Buffy Summers, with an ensemble of support from a mostly young and unknown cast including David Boreanaz, James Marsters, Allison Hannigan, Charisma Carpenter, and the late Michelle Trachtenberg, as well as Anthony Stewart Head as the level-headed Watcher, Giles. Jamie Lee Curtis Nearly Turned Down the Original Freaky Friday (& for Good Reason)
Image
Freaky Friday was nearly a very different movie. Instead of Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan, it was originally meant to star Annette Bening and Michelle Trachtenberg. When Bening dropped out, the producers contacted Curtis - but she wasn't sure.

Curtis had a 15-year-old and a 5-year-old at home, and she wasn't willing to leave them to go be a mother to a fictional 15-year-old. She would only sign onto the movie if it was going to be filming near to her home. "If it filmed outside California, I wouldn't have been in the movie," she told Entertainment Weekly as part of their coverage for Freaky Friday's sequel, Freakier Friday.

She went on, "If it shot in Vancouver, I wouldn't have done it, because I had kids," And that made her relate to the themes of the movie, especially the journey her character Tess goes on. "Balancing motherhood is...

“They couldn’t care less”: ‘Firefly’ Cancelation Hits Even Harder When Joss Whedon Sacrificed Another Show for Space Western
Image
When Fox mercilessly cancelled Firefly after just a single season, the entire team behind it, including Joss Whedon, was devastated. They were having a good time filming the show, and Whedon was so confident about his space Western show. However, another popular show from the Justice League director suffered when he decided to shift his focus to Firefly.

Before the accusations brought him down from his peak popularity, he was managing three shows at once. When he began work on the Nathan Fillion show, he was already the showrunner of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and its spinoff Angel. While David Boreanaz’s show could have gone on with a hands-off approach from Whedon, he did one thing that ruined the fourth season of the series.

11 TV Characters Who Came Back From the Dead, From Jon Snow to Buffy
Image
Why did TV fans have such a hard time believing that some of their favorite characters were just killed off? Because so many TV shows like “Game of Thrones,” “Supernatural” and “The X-Files” have brought back supposedly dead characters so often that the word “dead” has kind of lost all meaning in genre TV.

As for “9-1-1,” which killed off beloved fire captain Bobby Nash (Peter Krause) last week, the series’ first responders were routinely saved from certain death over and over in the previous seven seasons, that it seemed like none of them could ever really die.

Whether the fans, or the plot, demanded it, here are 11 onscreen deaths that were reversed by magic, rewritten or simply retconned away. Naturally, beware, there are lots of spoilers below.

Image
J.K. Rowling Net Worth(Photo Credit –Facebook)

With a pen and a wild imagination, J.K. Rowling went from a struggling single mother to the world’s first billionaire author, thanks, of course, to the unparalleled success of the Harry Potter series. Her literary empire, bolstered by global book sales, blockbuster films, spin-offs, theme park rides, and merchandise, made headlines for redefining what writers could achieve in a commercial sense.

But Rowling’s ascent also posed a question to the literary world: would anyone else ever reach such financial heights through words alone? Over the years, authors have seen soaring sales, some fueled by film adaptations, others by streaming deals or social media virality. Yet the billion-dollar club has remained notoriously exclusive. As we stand in 2025, nearly two decades after Rowling’s breakthrough, has anyone else crossed that threshold?

Is J.K. Rowling Still the Only Billionaire Author in 2025?

Image
The cause of death for actress Michelle Trachtenberg has officially been revealed.

Best known for her roles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Gossip Girl, Trachtenberg was found dead in her midtown Manhattan apartment on February 27 at the age of 39.

The coroner’s office had originally informed the public that the cause of Trachtenberg’s death would not be determined, as her family had requested that no autopsies be conducted, due to religious practices. The spokesperson explained, “Toxicology testing can be done without autopsy.”

In January 2024, Trachtenberg shot back at critics who made harsh comments about her appearance when she posted a selfie to Instagram, saying, “Fun fact. This is my face…Not malnutrition no problems. Why do you have to hate?...
