Norm Macdonald and Harland Williams were old buddies dating back to their early days as up-and-coming comedians in Canada. That’s one reason Macdonald never messed with Williams in the same way he teased other celebrities. “He couldn’t get away with anything with me, and he knew it,” Williams said on the We Think It’s Funny podcast. “We had a very good mutual friendship.”
The Norm Macdonald who Williams knew was different from Macdonald’s stand-up and podcast personas. “When we were just hanging out in real life, that wasn’t how he presented himself,” he said, imitating Macdonald’s comic cadence. “You know, it was a bit of a character.”
Williams was talking about Macdonald’s “Hey, buddy!” persona, a facade that was half Macdonald and half put-on. On several occasions, Macdonald told Williams that the funny delivery was rooted in his love for a certain cantankerous...

Exclusive: Jaime Eliezer Karas (Acapulco) has come aboard to direct Suburban Kings, a coming-of-age film penned by Peter Hoare (Kevin Can Wait), to be produced by Chris Mangano (Mangano Movies & Media), Blink-182’s Tom DeLonge (To The Stars Media), and Stan Spry (Evoke Entertainment).
The film follows Wolfgang Binder, a rebellious, skateboarding-obsessed 13-year-old, who is hellbent on spending the summer of ’99 cheering up his best friend after the tragic, unexpected death of his mother.
“This movie is an ode to my youth, to amazing lifelong friendships that were formed through skateboarding in the suburbs, to an overall culture that helped shape a lasting DIY spirit that I cherish,” said Hoare. “And to have the awesome Tom DeLonge behind this, someone who created a lot of the music that served as the literal soundtrack to those days… I couldn’t possibly be happier to make this one. It’s time to play Canadian Comic Blind Item, a game I didn’t realize existed until I heard a clip from the 30 Minutes on High podcast featuring comedian Che Durena. It’s yet another Norm Macdonald story from the vault, featuring a second unknown comedian who’s bound to get called out sooner rather than later.
According to Durena, one Canadian comic was not celebrating the success of Macdonald as he began to blow up on Saturday Night Live and elsewhere. The mystery comedian “was super bitter and would talk shit about Norm everywhere,” said Durena.
“We say (bleep)’s name all the time,” laughed 30 Minutes on High co-host Peter White. “It’s fine, don’t even worry about it.”
The reason the aggrieved comedian was talking so much smack? Apparently, Macdonald owed him gas money.
“What I heard was, Norm would forward (bleeped out comedian) emails from Nigerian scams and stuff.

The stills show Turk alongside his loyal assistant Holly (Wallace) and another of him at a mystery bar with Eddie (Kennedy), a rival wingman with other plans for Bob.

With the comedy world hungry for fresh laughs and no-holds-barred humor, New feature film Wingman is set to deliver exactly what audiences crave: gut-busting jokes and an unapologetic approach to storytelling. Produced by Justin L. Levine and directed and starring, Harland Williams, the film is one of the most anticipated comedies coming out in 2025. In this exclusive interview, we sit down with these two geniuses to get a glimpse into the making of a comedy that knows exactly what it’s here to do, entertain.
Justin – What was the initial spark that led to the creation of Wingman?
Well, I originally came up with the storyline about 15 years ago, back when Harland and I were filming in Toronto. We were working on a wacky spoof comedy called Child Wild that Harland wrote and starred in. During that time, I came up with the concept for Wingman, inspired by the throwback...

The 2000s were decades filled with some truly funny comedy movies, but plenty of hilarious releases have been mostly forgotten by modern audiences. Although this was the decade where Will Ferrell, Adam Sandler, and Ben Stiller achieved major success at the box office and Judd Apatows unique brand of comedy took over, there were some movies that came and went without leaving a lasting impact. However, this did not make them any less effective, and many of these forgotten comedies deserve to be revisited.
The best comedies of the 2000s were often crude and raunchy with plenty of over-the-top energy, although some of the most underrated and forgotten movies from this era were far subtler and valued sentimental more. Other comedies from shortly after the dawn of the millennium lacked the originality needed to make a lasting impact and were consumed and quickly forgotten by viewers. Whatever the reason, these...

Spencer Grammer, Harland Williams, Will Friedle, Harry Lennix, Juliana Harkavy and John Dimaggio are among the performers comprising the ensemble voice cast of the animated sci-fi comedy movie Isla Monstro.
Hailing from multimedia company Abyssmal Entertainment, the feature has completed production and launches promotion at San Diego Comic-Con with a booth and a panel taking place Saturday. The project is directed and animated by Steven Shea (Surviving Supercon), who co-wrote the script with James Schrader, and it is currently seeking distribution.
Isla Monstro centers on ne’er-do-well Duke (voiced by Schrader), who falls off a cruise ship and awakens on an abandoned, top secret government island that is rampant with mutants and monsters left over from a failed “super soldier” mission from the 1980s. Duke concocts a scheme to convert the island into a high-class resort getaway with the creatures serving as staff, which does not please the U.S. government.

Plot: Tiffany “Rex” Simpson has always dreamed of going to space, and her “doctored” application lands her in NASA’s ultra-competitive astronaut training program. Will she get to the cosmos before she blows her cover?
Review: Space is often the setting for epic fantasies or the terror it can provide. But there’s one subgenre that’s been sorely missing over the years: the space comedy. Space has gotten so serious that I miss the days of Harland Williams going to Mars in Rocketman due to a cacophony of errors. And Space Cadet follows in those similar footsteps. Sure, if you bring any logic to the party then you’re going to have a bad time but if you just want a lighthearted romantic comedy, then this may just be for you.

Emma Roberts stars in the disappointing Space Cadet with a weak script and storyline. The movie's plot feels more suitable for a Disney Channel release, lacking character growth and full of implausible storytelling. Despite Roberts and Tom Hopper's charming performances, the film's writing and predictable plot hinder their efforts.
Though having made a name for herself in the early years of her career on Nickelodeon and in teen movies, Emma Roberts has shown a wide diversity of talent onscreen, whether it be as the entertainingly cruel Chanel Oberlin in Scream Queens or the hauntingly compelling Joan in The Blackcoat's Daughter. It's this prior range of performances that makes Space Cadet such a disappointing installment for her filmography, with its painfully unfunny script and storyline.

Craig Mazin has a fascinating career trajectory. It's doubtful that someone would consider the writer of "Scary Movie 3," "Scary Movie 4," "Superhero Movie," or the Harland Williams sci-fi film "RocketMan" as one of the greatest voices working in genre entertainment, but that's exactly who he is. Years after his run with spoof and parody films, folks were puzzled when it was announced that HBO was releasing a serious, historical tragedy television miniseries about the Chernobyl disaster of 1986, created and written by Craig Mazin.
"Wait, the 'Scary Movie 3' guy?!" plenty exclaimed. Yes, the very same person who wrote a script that blended elements of "The Ring," "Signs," and "8 Mile" into a single horror parody film was entrusted with telling the story of one of the world's most devastating catastrophes.

The upcoming stoner comedy sequel Half Baked 2 will feature Rachel True reprising her original role. True played Mary Jane Potman in the 1998 film Half Baked, which starred Dave Chappelle, Jim Breuer, Harland Williams, and Guillermo Díaz, as a group of friends who love smoking weed. She is the love interest for Chappelle's character Thurgood, which presents a problem considering the fact that - despite her suggestive name - she is vehemently anti-drug.
Per Deadline, Half Baked 2 has just wrapped production in Baton Rouge. The film, which will be released non-theatrically in 2023, has announced that True (who is perhaps known for her role in the 1996 teen film The Craft) officially reprised the role of Mary Jane. So far, she is the only returning cast member who has been confirmed to appear in a major role, though Williams is also set to make a special appearance.

A sequel to Dave Chappelle’s stoner comedy Half Baked has been on the cards since late last year and those plans won’t be going up in smoke, from the look of things. This week, the project was chosen as one of the recipients of the $40 million in tax credit allocated by the California Film Commission, which should help it move forward as planned.
According to MovieWeb, production on the sequel will need to begin in the next 180 days to make it eligible for the state tax credit. The same report also revealed some extra tidbits about the follow-up, confirming that it will take place in Los Angeles and follow the son of Chappelle’s Thurgood Jenkins from the first film.

Half Baked 2 is getting closer to becoming a reality. The sequel was among a dozen projects selected earlier this week to receive part of a $40 million in tax credit allocated by the California Film Commission. According to the state tax credit, production needs to begin within the next 180 days, and for Half Baked 2, that will take place in Los Angeles. It was revealed at the end of last year that MacGyver reboot star Justin Hires was putting together the screenplay for the sequel.
As for who will be involved in Half Baked 2, that is unclear at the moment. Dave Chappelle will more than likely have nothing to do with the project after revealing his disappointment in the first installment. In 2014, Chappelle said, "Half Baked didn't come out the way I wanted it to come out. I was real upset about that, cause it was a real cool script." He seems...

A sequel to the 1998 stoner comedy movie Half Baked is apparently in the works, as comedian Justin Hires has announced he is writing the screenplay for the project. An actor, musician, and comedian, Hires is perhaps best known for his starring role on MacGyver, though his interest in writing has also led him to penning Half Baked 2. "Excited to announce I'll be writing the sequel to Half Baked," Hires says on his Instagram account, confirming reported rumors of his involvement. He adds: "Yes I know the original is a classic and yes this sequel will be [fire] because I'm writing it. Oh yeah, I write screenplays too."
On his Instagram post, Justin Hires links to a story from Comedy Hype reporting on Hires' involvement with Half Baked 2. This seems to confirm there's some truth to the rumored storyline details from that article, giving us an idea of how the planned sequel will play out.

“Inherent Vice”
Who doesn’t want to watch detective Joaquin Phoenix stumbling around Los Angeles trying to solve the disappearance of his former girlfriend while fried out of his mind? “Inherent Vice” has a stoner protagonist so funny and oddly charming that he could be the proud face of 4/20. But a lot of what makes the movie such a perfect stoner film is how Paul Thomas Anderson filters Thomas Pynchon’s novel through his own hazy, stoned-out filter. Watching “Inherent Vice” provides the actual sensation of being spaced out. You’ll be laughing nonstop one minute and then scratching your head the next. Long stretches seem to fade into each other. When it comes to stoner movies, “Inherent Vice” is a new classic.

The first Warcraft trailer isn't the only big news out of BlizzCon today. We just received a press release announcing the launching of Activision Blizzard Studios, a studio "devoted to creating original content based on the company's extensive library of iconic and globally-recognized intellectual properties." And as you might have guessed, that means a Call of Duty cinematic universe is in the works.
First up, though, is a TV show called Skylanders Academy based on the popular Skylanders game. Justin Long, Jonathan Banks (Breaking Bad), Ashley Tisdale, and Norm Macdonald will provide voices for the animated series.
There aren't any details about the plans of the Call of Duty cinematic universe (other than referring to it as "robust"), but it sounds like Activision Blizzard Studios is taking a page from Ubisoft's playbook here, making sure they retain creative control over their mega-popular games and bringing them to the big screen...

Halloween is finally upon us, and a lot of you have been holding down your own horror movie marathons. We're sure you've included the classics, but not many of them actually take place on All Hallow's Eve. And the ones that do? Well, quite a few are not very good. John Carpenter's 1978 Halloween is of course a classic. 2009's Trick 'r Treat is a new perennial favorite that grows its cult base every year. And you simply can't go wrong with The Nightmare Before Christmas between now and New Year's Eve. But you may want to seek out new and interesting films that revolve around this terrifying treat-filled holiday. The following list of movies is not for you! This is a warning: Do not invite your friends over for the following 13 fright flicks, as they are the worst Halloween movies of all-time. That said, they are not without their merits.

Tom Hanks' raucous 1984 comedy classic Bachelor Party is being rebooted as a TV anthology series for ABC.
The half hour sitcom has already earned a big put pilot commitment from the network and 20th Century Fox TV. Fox also has a TV show remake of Tom Hanks' 1988 comedy Big in development, as the studio was behind both films. Bachelor Party is being produced by the Small Dog Picture Co., run by feature film director Jason Winer, and Walcott Co., run by director Max Winkler and New Girl star Jake Johnson.
The Bachelor Party anthology series was co-created by New Girl writer-producers J.J. Philbin and Josh Malmuth, and will examine the sanctity of marriage through the lens of three couples: One about to get married, one divorced, and a third just starting to fall in love. They will experience their relationships day by day as they continue to grow and change.

No, I’m not thinking Doubtfire vs. Madea. Technically that would involve a man fighting a woman, as Mrs. Euphegenia Doubtfire is Robin Williams playing a male character who dresses as an old lady while Mabel “Madea” Simmons is just Tyler Perry playing an old lady. It doesn’t sound like a fair battle. Obviously Madea would kick the fake nanny’s ass. But the synopsis I have in mind is similar for this Mrs. Doubtfire sequel that Fox 2000 has just announced with original director Chris Columbus and Williams both on board. It has to be an Expendables type movie, which means it’s not just Doubtfire 2 but an ensemble piece in which Williams as Daniel Hillard as Doubtfire is joined by Dustin Hoffman as Michael Dorsey as Tootsie, Martin Lawrence as Malcolm Turner as “Big Momma,” David Cross as Tobias Funke as Mrs. Featherbottom, Miguel A. Nunez Jr. as Jamal Jeffries as Juwanna Mann, Harland Williams...
