The 2002 film, The Scorpion King, directed by Chuck Russell, depicts the journey of Mathayus as he attempts to overthrow the despotic warrior Memnon. The Scorpion King serves as a prequel to The Mummy Returns, and it helped explain the origin story of how Mathayus came to be the Scorpion King and the villain of the latter film. Luckily for fans of The Mummy Returns, The Scorpion King was able to bring back the same actor for the titular role as well as add other prominent actors to the cast list.
The Scorpion King received modest reviews from critics and currently holds a 41% score on Rotten Tomatoes. However, the film did well enough with audiences, grossing $180.6 million on a $60 million budget, and it spawned several Scorpion King direct-to-video sequels. Along with the entertaining action sequences, much of the movie's success came from its actors' performances as fantastical ancient characters.

Warning: This article contains spoilers for The Legend of Vox Machina season 3.
Season 3 of The Legend of Vox Machina saw multiple villains vanquished in the last few episodes, but the most fitting end for the show's longest-running villain was a missed opportunity. By The Legend of Vax Machina season 3's ending, three different villains were vanquished, and another either dead or banished. The dragons Thordak (Lance Reddick) and Raishan (Cree Summer) were slain, the demon Orthax (Matthew Mercer) was seemingly killed (but mostly likely simply permanently banished from their dimension), and human antagonist Dr. Anna Ripley (Kelly Hu) was dead.

Warning: Spoilers ahead for The Legend of Vox Machina season 3.
The Legend of Vox Machina season 3 dropped its final episodes of the season, delivering an emotional ending that set up season 4's new villain. The critical hit Legend of Vox Machina season 3 continued and closed out the Chroma Conclave arc first set up in season 1, with Vox Machina finally defeating Thordak (Lance Reddick), Ana Ripley (Kelly Hu), Orthax (Matthew Mercer), and lastly Raishan (Cree Summer), putting an end to multiple villains that have been antagonizing them for the past three seasons. But The Legend of Vox Machina has always been a show that has smartly balanced high-octane action with emotional weight and character moments, and season 3 was no different.

The Phineas and Ferb revival must address one strange, loose plot thread from the series' original run, regarding Candace's (Ashley Tisdale) best friend Stacy (Kelly Hu), who stumbles upon the series-long Perry the Platypus bombshell with no one else knowing. Phineas and Ferb follows two main plotlines: Phineas (Vincent Martella) and Ferb (Thomas Bordie-Sangster/David Errigo Jr.) building wild contraptions with Candace vehemently trying to show them to their mother, while their pet does battle with evil scientist Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz (Dan Povenmire). A regular set of characters always participate in these adventures, including the ever-sarcastic and occasionally clueless Stacy.
Stacy's storyline is most often tied up with Candace; as the long-suffering best friend, Stacy either begrudgingly helps or quietly excuses herself once Candace is caught up with the day's attempt to show Linda (Caroline Rhea) the truth. However, in addition to featuring some linear storylines, Phineas and Ferb...

We are officially halfway through the third season of The Legend of Vox Machina, with the final six episodes (three this Thursday and three next week) on the way. To say it’s been a whirlwind of a season for our intrepid adventurers would be an understatement. In addition to navigating some pretty intense personal relationship situations, they’ve also had to deal with some unexpected betrayals, travels to places no one wants to go, and they’ve come close to death more than once thanks to the remaining Chroma Conclave dragons. When we last left our heroes, they were reeling from the destruction of Whitestone following an attack from Thordak’s (Lance Reddick) hatched dragons. Despite swearing off revenge after finding happiness with Vex (Laura Bailey), Percy (Taliesin Jaffe) found himself with no choice but to go after his old nemesis Anna Ripley (Kelly Hu) when he realized she...

Anime swordsmen are always some of the most popular characters, as seeing someone who has gone through extensive training and practice to hone their skills and bring their techniques to perfection is not only impressive but also inspiring. Often wielding nothing but a sword, these characters can take on any challenge. No matter how intimidating their foes may seem, they rarely refuse a chance to practice.
Even in the realm of sword fighting, there are plenty of different fighting styles and techniques that can be employed. Some swordsmen may prefer to focus on quick and unexpected strikes, while others may wield oversized swords and overpower their enemies through raw strength. Whether they use a single sword or multiple, great swordsmen know how to adapt to any situation and overcome any obstacle. This list presents anime swordsmen not based on their raw destructive power but on their actual skills in wielding their weapon.

When we got a first blurry look at Deadpool & Wolverine's Variants, the hope was that Marvel Studios had tapped the original actors to reprise their roles.
That wasn't the case, unfortunately, but with Cassandra Nova's army used largely as cannon fodder, it was probably for the best because fans would have hated seeing X2: X-Men United star Kelly Hu, for example, wasted as Lady Deathstrike.
Stunt performer Jade Lye plays the villain in her place and concept artist Jonay Bacallado has now shared a closer look at his design for Deathstrike's new MCU costume.
"Lady Deathstrike being one of Cassandra’s henchmen made totally sense when we learnt she was coming back to the MCU," he explains. "She has Adamantium nails and often fought Wolverine in the past, as in X2 from the X-Men movies. Pruned by the Tva, now she’s part of Cassandra’s team in the Void.

Deadpool & Wolverine's scenes in The Void featured many familiar characters...they just weren't necessarily played by the actors you'd expect.
Azazel, Lady Deathstrike, Juggernaut, Toad, and more were all portrayed by stunt performers or lesser-known actors, though that's somewhat understandable given their minor roles in the movie.
Marvel Studios has established that not all Variants look alike, though, and in the case of Callisto - played by Dania Ramirez in X-Men: The Last Stand - it was stunt performer Chloe Kibble who suited up as the mutant.
She was a stunt performer on Deadpool & Wolverine and previously doubled for Zawe Ashton in The Marvels.
Artist Jonay Bacallado has just shared his final costume design for the McU's Callisto and says, "Callisto is a mutant character we got to see on screen on X-Men: The Last Stand, from the early stages of the MCU with 20th Century Fox. For Deadpool & Wolverine,...

The first time you watch Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) brawl Yuriko Oyama aka Lady Deathstrike (Kelly Hu) in 2003's "X2: X-Men United," you may find yourself echoing what Logan says at the outset of their showdown: "Holy s**t." More than 20 years later, the fight between these two super-healing individuals with adamantium-laced skeletons still ranks up there as one of the most savage mutant versus mutant scuffles in all of 20th Century Fox's "X-Men" movies. Despite being restricted by the film's PG-13 rating, this sequence manages to packs in plenty of wince-inducing moments, culminating with Lady Deathstrike's horrifying fate of death by liquified adamantium injection. That she'd spent the whole movie being forced to serve the detestable William Stryker (Brian Cox), who uses a mind control serum to rob her of her agency, only adds to the greater tragedy of the character.

Do you know what happens to a movie star when they’re not asked to be in your movie? Same thing that happens to everything else. Or, to put it another way, you gotta ask actors to be in your films.
That’s the lesson that Ryan Reynolds might be learning, at least according to Halle Berry. In conversation with ComicBook.com, Berry explained the absence of her X-Men character Storm in Deadpool & Wolverine.

Deadpool & Wolverine features a long list of Variants, but not all are familiar faces from the past (even if the characters they play are instantly recognisable).
Toad, Psylocke, Azazel, Lady Deathstrike, The Russian, and more are all played by stuntpeople or lesser-known actors; whether that was because the original stars weren't interested in returning or a cost-saving exercise is unclear. Either way, WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash wasn't approached about reprising his role from 2004's The Punisher.
Talking in the video below, the pro wrestler and actor was asked to share his thoughts on Billy Clements taking over as the formidable villain.
"That looks nothing like the character I played," Nash said after being shown a photo of the darker-haired Variant. "That looks nothing like The Russian. It looks like they gave somebody a favour."
"I love when people say, 'Oh, Nash is trolling for movie parts,'" he continued.

Plenty of big news came out of this weekend's San Diego Comic-Con, including the first clip for Watchmen Chapter I, Warner Bros. Animation's R-Rated adaptation of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' iconic graphic novel.
That divisive CG animation style is on full display as Dr. Manhattan is welcomed to The Benny Anger Show. He's confronted by several angry audience members who demand the all-powerful superhero answer for the supposed role he may have played in the people he's crossed paths with over the years being diagnosed with cancer.
As all of this is happening, we see Nite Owl and Silk Spectre - in their civilian guises - fending off an attack from criminals. Everything we see looks like the graphic novel and, unsurprisingly, Zack Snyder's 2009 Watchmen movie (which itself was a near shot-for-shot remake of the source material).

Here’s the thing about Deadpool: he knows that he’s in a movie. So he’s probably aware that his long-awaited first MCU entry Deadpool & Wolverine has finally been screened to critics and that those critics are sharing their thoughts about the movie on social media. But is he reading the tweets and jumping in joy or blowing himself up a la Deadpool 2? The studio betting big on the character’s latest theatrical outing is definitely hoping it’s the former.
After the relative box office and critical failures of Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania and The Marvels, Deadpool & Wolverine is the sole Marvel movie making it to theaters this year (unless we count Sony trash such as Madame Web). Marvel hopes that star Ryan Reynolds and his Deadpool will help turn the tide of superhero fatigue and make the MCU the sensation that it once was.

The Doomsday Clock is ticking in the trailer for the animated feature Watchmen Chapter 1.
Hailing from Warner Bros. Animation and Paramount, the title is the first in a two-part film based on the classic DC Comics series Watchmen, a satirical project focusing on an alternate reality in which superheroes — known as costumed vigilantes — have been outlawed. Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment releases director Brandon Vietti’s feature via digital platforms Aug. 13 before it hits Blu-ray on Aug. 27.
The voice cast includes Matthew Rhys as Dan Dreiberg and Nite Owl, Katee Sackhoff as Laurie Juspeczyk and Silk Spectre, Titus Welliver as Rorschach and Walter Kovacs, and Michael Cerveris as Jonathan Osterman and Dr. Manhattan. Also voicing characters are Troy Baker, Adrienne Barbeau, Corey Burton, Jeffrey Combs, Kelly Hu and Phil Lamarr.
“There is good, and there is evil, and evil must be punished, even in the face of armageddon,” Welliver says as Rorschach in the trailer.

The first trailer for Watchmen Chapter I has been released, and with that comes the full voice cast for Warner Bros. Animation's R-Rated adaptation of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' iconic graphic novel.
It's also been confirmed today, courtesy of IGN (who have also shared cover art for the He release), that the movie will debut on Digital on August 13, with a 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray release following on August 27.
As with Zack Snyder's 2009 movie, it looks like the comic has come to life, begging the question of what this latest version will deliver that its live-action predecessor didn't. The Man of Steel helmer did take some liberties with the source material, though, so perhaps this version will be even more faithful.

Marvel isn’t holding back when it comes to fan service in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’—the studio’s only film of 2024. Teaming up with Wolverine for the third film in the Deadpool series makes it a must-see for Marvel fans, but there are plenty more multiversal surprises in store, including a ton of cameos from previous Marvel films.
X-23 / Laura
The latest teaser reveals a grown-up Laura (aka X-23), once again played by Dafne Keen, seven years after costarring with Hugh Jackman in 'Logan.' Keen has more recently been featured in the Star Wars series "The Acolyte," as Jedi Padawan Jecki Lon.
Sabretooth
'Deadpool & Wolverine' brings back Logan’s archenemy and first onscreen opponent, Sabretooth. Tyler Mane reprises his role from 2000’s ‘X-Men’ and as Deadpool says in the teaser, “People have waited decades for this fight.”
Elektra
Jennifer Garner was one of the first cameos confirmed, reprising her role from the unsuccessful 2005 Daredevil spin-off ‘Elektra.’
Toad
Another alumnus from the original ‘X-Men’ is Ray Park, who returns as Toad, the former Magneto henchman who was dispatched in that film by Halle Berry’s Storm.
Pyro
Appearing in both ‘X2: X-Men United' and 'X-Men: The Last Stand,’ Aaron Stanford is back as Pyro, the fire-manipulating member of Magneto’s Brotherhood of Mutants.
Deathstrike
Kelly Hu will be back to play Deathstrike, another one of Wolverine’s frequent nemeses in comics, who did battle with the X-Man in ‘X2: X-Men United.’
Azazel
From ‘X-Men: First Class,’ Jason Flemyng will return to play Azazel, the teleporting mutant who got his start in the Hellfire Club and was ultimately recruited into Magneto’s Brotherhood of Mutants.
Professor X (rumored)
This one is purely speculation at this point, but it’s not hard to imagine Patrick Stewart returning to play one of his most iconic roles once again. Considering how many X-Men villains are appearing, it would be nice to see one of the heroes make a cameo. Plus, it’s already been done once, when Stewart returned as an alternate variant of Professor Charles Xavier in 2022’s ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.’...

Deadpool & Wolverine hype has been on the horizon since the announcement of the movie (even before the title announcement). The biggest surprise for fans has to be Hugh Jackman’s return as Wolverine, despite the death of his character in the 2017 movie Logan. But convincing Jackman was not enough, Ryan Reynolds and director Shawn Levy wanted a lot more for the movie.

Marvel's female villains make a lasting impact despite being fewer in number compared to male counterparts. Female villains like Lady Deathstrike, Viper, and Proxima Midnight stand out for their formidable abilities and unique character designs. Marvel's portrayal of sympathetic villains like Ghost and Dar-Benn adds depth to the MCU, showcasing complex motives and intriguing storylines.
Marvel Movie villains are almost as important as their heroic enemies, with some of the best being female characters. The modern age of Marvel movies is replete with iconic villains from Marvel Comics, though the first female arch-villain would not debut until 2017. That villain in particular would prove why it should never have taken so long for female villains to take center stage, though there are thankfully plenty of stand-out examples of secondary villains in the preceding years.

The latest trailer for "Deadpool & Wolverine" suggests the movie might be even more of a cameo-fest than we'd previously predicted.
Hugh Jackman is back as Logan, of course, and he's bringing leftover characters from the erstwhile 20th Century Fox's Marvel Universe. We already knew Elektra (Jennifer Garner), Pyro (Aaron Stanford), and Toad would be back. So will Wolverine's archenemy Sabretooth, perhaps finally giving Logan a chance at closure.
Around the 1:50 minute mark of the new trailer, you were probably focused on the decapitated head of a Giant Man variant (his rotting skull concealed within his ant-styled helmet). I'm much more curious about the characters standing beneath this makeshift base, who look to be familiar (mutant) faces from previous "X-Men" films: Yuriko Oyama/Lady Deathstrike from "X2" and Azazel from "X-Men: First Class."
Both are seen at too far a distance to determine if their previous actors...

Deadpool & Wolverine's second trailer reveals the return of two mutant villains: Lady Deathstrike and Azazel, who seem to serve as Cassandra Nova's bodyguards in the Void. Lady Deathstrike only appeared in 2000's X-Men, where Wolverine killed her with liquid adamantium. Azazel only appeared in X-Men: First Class, where he supported Sebastian Shaw in the Hellfire Club. Just like a prayer, the latest trailer for the highly anticipated "Deadpool & Wolverine" arrived this morning, showing off even more of Wade Wilson's first entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. If bringing the R-rated Merc with a Mouth into the Marvel Studios world wasn't enough, with all the naughtiness that entails, surely Hugh Jackman picking up Wolverine's claws again will seal the deal.
Of course, since "Deadpool & Wolverine" is bringing the characters from 20th Century Fox's universe of Marvel movies into the MCU, there are even more recognizable faces who will be popping up. Along with reports of Jennifer Garner reprising her role as Elektra and the appearance of Pyro in the first trailer for the movie, the latest batch of footage shows off some returning characters from previous "X-Men" movies. Marvel has unveiled a new trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine, its upcoming R-rated comic book epic starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman as our titular, foul-mouthed heroes. The trailer is soundtracked by Madonna’s “Like a Prayer” and full of F-bombs — including this summer’s superhero catchphrase, “Lfg.”
Directed by Shawn Levy (Stranger Things), the film finds Deadpool (Reynolds) teaming up with a Wolverine (Jackman) — but not the Wolverine we’ve seen in past X-films. No, this one has apparently let his entire world down, which feels like a nod to the classic comics storyline Old Man Logan. And that beloved story gets referenced elsewhere in the trailer when it’s revealed that someone (Emma Corrin’s big bad Cassandra Nova?) is using a giant, dead Ant-Man as a base.
The shot of Ant-Man’s helmet opening also reveals appearances from Lady Deathstrike (Kelly Hu in X2: X-Men United) and...

The third season premiere of BMF gathered its biggest audience to date for Starz.
The drama’s March 1 debut racked up 5.1 million cross-platform viewers over its opening weekend. That’s the best performance to date for the series and up by a million viewers over the season two premiere in January 2023 — a nearly 25 percent jump season to season.
As is usually the case with premium cable shows, the vast majority of viewing came away from Bmf’s on-air premiere, which averaged just 250,000 viewers (though that too was up, vs. 170,000 for the season two opener) — only about 5 percent of the three-day total. The 5.1 million figure includes replays and streaming as well, and though Starz (like most other streamers) doesn’t provide detailed streaming data, it’s a safe bet that most of the remaining 4.85 million viewers came via streaming.

Season 3 picks up in the early ’90s, with Meech moving to Atlanta, hoping to grow the Bmf empire in the south and rise to the top of the Atlanta drug scene. At the same time, Terry remains in the “D,” handling business there, not yet aware of all the dangers lurking around the corner.
