A story is often only as good as the object everyone wants. In Tony Tost’s Americana, that object is a Lakota Ghost Shirt, an artifact of immense spiritual weight said to protect its wearer from harm. When it is stolen in a violent home invasion, it ceases to be a mere museum piece and becomes a narrative engine, activating the quiet desperation of every character it encounters.
Set against the bleak backdrop of modern South Dakota, the film tracks the shirt’s chaotic journey as it passes through the hands of people who see it not as a sacred relic, but as a solution. For some, it represents a half-million-dollar payday. For others, it is the key to reclaiming a stolen heritage. For one woman, it is simply a ticket to a life she can call her own.
The film’s tension is born from this fundamental conflict: what...

In some ways, Reneé Rapp was burnt out before she even really got started. The singer-songwriter-actor’s 2023 debut album, Snow Angel, preceded a major tour, a starring role in the blockbuster movie musical adaptation of Mean Girls and the end of her run on the hit HBO series The Sex Lives of College Girls. After all of that, Rapp, 25, took some time for herself while making her fun, bratty, propulsive new record, Bite Me, in the process. Now that she’s on the hamster wheel of pop stardom again, she...

Some Grand Theft Auto 6fans have spotted a small detail in a popular music video that may point towards a large presence of a huge real-life rapper in the game. One of the biggest parts of any GTA game is its soundtrack, and developer Rockstar Games often incorporates real-life events, music, art, and more into its latest game. Earlier, it was reported that superstar Drake might have his own radio station in the game, and now, it looks like another big star will have a presence in GTA 6.
In a music video for the song "2000 Excursion" by Travis Scott, a GTA 6 Easter egg has been found, which may point at Travis Scott's music playing a big role in the game. At the 3:56 time mark in the video, a license plate that reads "GTA6 VI6" can be seen (via VideoGamer). This isn't a direct confirmation about Scott or his music in the game,...

It’s a weird little irony that movies about immortality are typically movies about dying. Sure, Dracula can live for eons. But he lives in constant terror of sunlight, garlic and perpendicular sticks. Those “Highlander” guys can survive forever if you don’t cut their heads off, but they’re constantly trying to cut each other’s heads off. If you can’t die in a story the emphasis is almost always placed on how actually, you could die. That, or you’ve lived so long that death seems like a pleasant change of pace.
Films like “The Old Guard” and “The Old Guard 2” make immortality seem less like a power fantasy and more like… well, not so much a curse, but a parable. Everyone in the audience has to die eventually, so we like to think our gods would envy us, instead of gloating about how cool it...

Guitarist Lita Ford was not pleased with the 2010 biopic The Runaways, saying it wasn’t an accurate depiction of her former band of the same name, while adding she’s no fan of ex-bandmate Joan Jett or actress Kristen Stewart (who played Jett in the movie).
The film starred Dakota Fanning as singer Cherie Currie, Scout Taylor-Compton as Ford, and Stewart as Jett, with most of the attention focused on Currie and Jett, as well as manager Kim Fowley (played by Michael Shannon).

Lucky Season 13 of The Masked Singer came to a thrilling finale Wednesday night, with Pearl claiming the coveted Golden Mask trophy over Boogie Woogie, Coral, and Mad Scientist Monster. After the confetti dropped and panelists Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, Ken Jeong, and Rita Ora made their final guesses, Pearl removed her bejeweled mask to reveal Grammy-winning country star Gretchen Wilson.
"I was absolutely expecting Boogie to win all the way up to the last minute," Wilson tells Gold Derby (watch the video interview above). "We became friends and we were sort of rooting for each other. And the mom in me, not having any idea who was behind that mask, kind of wanted to share it with him. We were in the same group. We had performed side by side pretty much throughout this whole thing. So Pearl and Boogie Woogie really got to know each other as the characters.

Dave Grohl has always quietly loved dance music, even lacing Nirvana’s Nevermind with parts borrowed from disco drummers. He showcased that funkier side at a school benefit Saturday night at the Los Angeles club Avalon Hollywood, busting out a rocked-up cover of LCD Soundsystem’s “Daft Punk is Playing At My House” — his first-ever performance of a song by that New York band.

Pearl made her debut on the March 5 episode of The Masked Singer Season 13 as a member of Group B. The sultry sea jewel's first song on Fox's reality TV show was "Saving All My Love for You" and she had the four panelists guessing such famous names as Regina King, Shania Twain, and Joan Jett.
The following weeks, Pearl delivered performances of "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" and "Here You Come Again," prompting the judges to add Madonna, Melissa Etheridge, Sheryl Crow, Trisha Yearwood, Kellie Pickler, and Carrie Underwood to their list of potential A-listers. When the Lucky 6 merged and Pearl belted out "Conga," Faith Hill, Jody Watley, and Pat Benatar were mentioned. On "The Soundtrack of My Life" episode, Pearl sang "Your Love" and the perplexed panelists guessed Bonnie Tyler, Wynonna Judd, and Brandi Carlile.

John Lydon (aka Johnny Rotten) has recently been criticizing the current incarnation of his former band the Sex Pistols, who are touring with frontman Frank Carter these days. Lydon’s rants have also included mentions of Billy Idol, who toured with two Sex Pistols members as the supergroup Generation Sex in 2023.
In an interview last month, Lydon declared of the Sex Pistols Featuring Frank Carter, “I gave them the image. I was the frontman. I am the voice, what made the whole world sing. And now you’re going out, as they did the year before with Billy Idol. It’s just karaoke, really.”

Shaking off a rock ‘n’ roll bad boy reputation isn’t easy—just ask Billy Idol. While he’s been clean and sober since 2010, his image as a rebellious icon lingers.
The “Dancing With Myself” singer’s had to wait nearly two decades for his shot at getting recognized at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame since he first became eligible in 2007, but at last, he finally earned his first nomination this year.
The nomination back in February was the first development in a busy 2025 for Idol so far. He released “Still Dancing” — his first single in three years — last month. At the end of April, he’s dropping Dream Into It, his first album in 11 years, which with any luck, will be punctuated with a Rock Hall acceptance as well.

Sabrina Carpenter surprised fans with a "Please Please Please" collaboration with country music legend Dolly Parton just over a month ago. Carpenter released the track as a part of Short n' Sweet's deluxe version, alongside a new black and white music video with Parton as they drive down the road with a man tied down at the back of the pickup track. However, the collaboration might not have occurred if Sabrina had not complied with Parton's rules — one of which includes refraining from using "dirty words."
The Short n' Sweet deluxe edition includes five additional tracks, such as "15 Minutes," "Couldn't Make It Any Harder," "Busy Woman," "Bad Reviews," and the country version of "Please Please Please" featuring the Queen of Country.
