6 Years Ago, Sylvester Stallone Concluded His Overlooked Action Trilogy That's Free to Stream Right Now
Image
Sylvester Stallone has starred in a lot of successful film franchises, from Rocky and Rambo to The Expendables and Guardians of the Galaxy. However, fans may have forgotten that the actor starred in an action franchise from the 2010s that is now streaming on Tubi.

The Escape Plan trilogy — Escape Plan (2013), Escape Plan 2: Hades (2018), and Escape Plan: The Extractors (2019) — was recently added to the free streaming service's film library. While not well-received by critics, the Escape Plan trilogy is largely remembered for the 2018 original marking the first time that Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger co-led a movie together. Considered the two biggest action stars of the 1980s (and most of the '90s too), Stallone and Schwarzenegger had never headlined an action movie together until Escape Plan. While they had previously worked together on The Expendables and its 2012 sequel, Schwarzenegger only appeared in a limited, supporting capacity as his character Trench.

All 15 X-Men Movies Ranked
Image
Since the Marvel Cinematic Universe wrapped up The Infinity Saga with "Avengers: Endgame" and "Spider-Man: Far From Home" (and Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox) in 2019, Marvel Studios has slowly started to introduce the X-Men into the MCU. Characters with mutant connections such as Patrick Stewart's Professor X, Kelsey Grammer's Beast, and Hugh Jackman's Wolverine have been popping up in the phases that followed. Plus, True Believers were able to return to the fan-favorite world of "X-Men: The Animated Series" thanks to "X-Men '97" on Disney+. Now, after the initial casting announcement for the highly anticipated "Avengers: Doomsday," the mutant presence is about to increase exponentially.

But before we enter a new era for the X-Men and a thriving cinematic future for mutantkind, let's look back on the legacy that previous X-Men movies have left behind. Here is /Film's ranking of X-Men movies that have been theatrically released so far.

Legendary Actor Just Joined the Cast of Henry Cavill’s ‘Highlander’ Reboot
Image
Russell Crowe has officially joined the cast of the upcoming Highlander reboot, starring alongside Henry Cavill. This news was revealed by Collider. The film, directed by Chad Stahelski, known for his work on the John Wick series, has been in development for nearly ten years but is now moving forward with production set to start this fall.

Stahelski has promised that this version of Highlander won’t be a simple remake of the 1986 cult classic. Instead, it will expand the story, moving from the Scottish Highlands in the 1500s to modern cities like New York and Hong Kong. He described the movie as having a lot of action and even said it has a love story, but “not how you think.”

The reboot’s journey has been long and complicated. The rights to Highlander were acquired back in 2008 by Summit Entertainment, and since then, several writers, directors, and actors have...

“Mafia” – TV Series Review
Image
A scene from the Swedish TV crime series “Mafia.” Courtesy of ViaPlay

The crime drama “Mafia” (originally “Maffia”) from Sweden is a bit atypical in its focus. Covering a period from 1991-1999, it’s mainly about Yugoslavian gangs in Sweden smuggling tax-dodging cigarettes for unimaginable profits. The timing is key, since there were Serbian and Croatian factions in conflict over not only turf and profits, but the beginnings and continuation of the war between the two back home. Both involved sides relied heavily on their cut of the multi-millions of smuggling revenue to fund the fighting.

The main character is Croatian Jakov (Peshang Rad) who is the shrewdest member of either gang, trying to maximize profits while minimizing violence and risks. The other two leaders are his “brother from another mother” Goran (Nemanja Stojanovic) who is more impulsive, and Drago (Cedomir Djordjevic) who is a reckless bully. The other two...

Image
Stars: Hugh Jackman, John Travolta, Halle Berry, Don Cheadle, Sam Shepard, Vinnie Jones, Drea de Matteo, Rudolf Martin, Zach Grenier, Camryn Grimes | Written by Skip Woods | Directed by Dominic Sena

Question… What do Hugh Jackman, John Travolta, Halle Berry and Don Cheadle have in common? No, we are not talking about how they have all been in comic book movies! They were actually all together in one film that has become a cult classic over the years.

In 2001, Dominic Sena directed an epic thriller entitled Swordfish. It is hard to believe, but this film is coming up on its Silver Anniversary. But before it gets to that anniversary, Arrow Video has decided to give Swordfish a just as epic 4K UltraHD release.

Former master hacker Stanley Jobson (Hugh Jackman) is on parole after getting caught infiltrating an FBI program. Even so much as glancing at a computer could send him straight back to prison,...

'The Gentlemen' Season 2 Set Images Reveal Vinnie Jones Wielding Baseball Bat
Image
While Guy Ritchie has consistently produced unique feature-length releases, most recently with the Apple TV+ original film The Fountain of Youth, the filmmaker has also ventured into the world of television in recent years. March 2024 saw the release of The Gentlemen, a Netflix original series that is based on Ritchie's film of the same name. While the show doesn't have any of the cast members from the original film, it does take place in the same universe as the 2019 movie. Now, the second season has started filming in London, with one of Ritchie's previous collaborators being spotted on set.

The Daily Mail just recently published set photos from the production of The Gentlemen Season 2 (which can be viewed below). Along with Ritchie being on set directing the scene, the set photos reveal that Vinnie Jones will be returning as the character Geoffrey Seacombe, the gentlemanly gameskeeper of the Halstead Manor,...

Swordfish: Does this “high tech” thriller hold up 24 years later?
Image
People may not appreciate now just how much of an impact The Matrix had on action films. It came out in the spring of 1999; by the summer of 2000, every movie was copying it. That’s why you had Jet Li doing wire-fu in Romeo Must Die, Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt packing two pistols (and wearing a black leather trench coat) to Limp Bizkit performing the Mission: Impossible Theme in M:i:2, and the gals of Charlie’s Angels doing bullet time stunts. It changed the genre for a while, but one of the movies that owes the most to The Matrix is a little-remembered would-be summer blockbuster called Swordfish.

Not coincidentally, it was produced by Joel Silver, the man who produced The Matrix. It would include A Lot of nods to that film, including a massive opening bullet time explosion, a techno soundtrack by Paul Oakenfold (who had several tracks in...

Keanu Reeves gets his wings in ‘Good Fortune’ teaser, Taron Egerton sees ‘Smoke,’ and today’s other top stories

Gold Derby's top news stories for May 28, 2025.

Keanu Reeves is a literal angel in the Good Fortune teaser

The feature directorial debut from Aziz Ansari has finally been revealed, and it looks heavenly. Seemingly a riff on Wings of Desire, Good Fortune follows an angel Gabriel (played by a winged Keanu Reeves), who is looking for more meaning in his work. He finds Arj, played by Ansari, who is a lost soul, peeing in bottles while working for a thinly veiled Amazon-like company. The film, which also stars Seth Rogen, Sandra Oh, and Keke Palmer, hits theaters on Oct. 17.

Smoke trailer heats up

The new Apple TV+ series from author Dennis Lehane reunites him with his Blackbird leading man, Taron Egerton, who this time stars as an arson investigator on the trail of two serial fire starters. Joining him is a police detective, played by Jurnee Smollett, who begins to...

Guy Ritchie's 'The Gentlemen' Has Re-Opened for Business With Season 2 Update
Image
Eddie and Susie are officially back in business. Netflix confirmed today that production is underway on Season 2 of Guy Ritchie's hit action comedy series The Gentlemen, just over a year after Theo James's heir inherited his family's estate and, as a result, was roped into its massive drug empire. The exciting update brings with it some big revelations about what's next now that Eddie and Kaya Scodelario's Susie are more invested than ever in the "high" life with Bobby (Ray Winstone). It promises to be a wild ride with higher stakes than ever as their ambitions for expanding the business run wild.

Season 1 of The Gentlemen follows Eddie as he navigates the weed business operating just under his 15,000-acre estate, thrusting him into the colorful world of the British aristocracy full of proprietors who aren't keen on waiting for him to learn the ropes. By the end of the run,...

The Gentlemen season 2 | Hugh Bonneville and others join cast as filming begins
Image
Netflix is moving ahead with The Gentlemen season 2 and Hugh Bonneville among others has joined its cast. More details below!

It didn’t take long for Netflix to renew The Gentlemen, Guy Ritchie’s loose spin-off of his own film of the same name, for season 2 but there hasn’t been any news to share about the new season since.

Thankfully, Netflix has now announced that The Gentlemen season 2 is in production and new castmembers are joining the fun.

Hugh Bonneville, Benjamin Clementine, Benedetta Porcaroli, Michele Morrone, Sergio Castellito, Amra Mallassi, Tyler Conti and Maya Jama are all getting tangled up in the criminal activities of the Glass family. Considering how many people died in the first season, we doubt many of these new characters make it very far.

Theo James, Kaya Scodelario and Daniel Ings are all returning to their roles as are Ray Winstone, Giancarlo Esposito, Joely Richardson and Vinnie Jones.

Christopher Lambert in Highlander (1986)
Highlander | The new movie is finally set to film this year
Christopher Lambert in Highlander (1986)
Could it actually be happening? Highlander, starring Henry Cavill, is finally set to go before cameras this coming autumn. We think.

Well, blimey. Considering the time-spanning nature of the Highlander franchise, perhaps it’s appropriate it’s taken so long to get a planned remake off the ground. I was a year into starting Den Of Geek I think, all the way back in 2008, when I first wrote something about a planned new movie. The idea then was to do a remake or reimagining of sorts, and over the course of nearly two decades, a procession of people have come and come. I’m old enough to remember when Vinnie Jones was in the running, and when Ryan Reynolds was reportedly cast.

More recently, John Wick director Chad Stahelski had been committed to the film, but then he was dragged into surgery on the upcoming Ballerina movie. That delayed the new Highlander,...

Bradley Cooper’s Only Horror Film Is Deeply Disturbing—And It’s Streaming For Free
Kevin Bacon
Plenty of A-listers have gotten their start in the world of horror, from Kevin Bacon in Friday the 13th to Jennifer Aniston in Leprechaun. But did you know that Bradley Cooper also starred in a horror film early in his acting career? He plays the lead role in Ryûhei Kitamura’s 2008 film Midnight Meat Train, an adaptation of Clive Barker’s 1984 short story of the same name.

In the film,

A struggling photographer meets the owner of an eminent art gallery in pursuit of a successful career. His obsession with uncovering humanity’s dark side as his debut project draws him to a serial killer who preys on late-night subway commuters.

Cooper plays that struggling photographer who quite literally goes into the belly of the beast searching for a new subject to impress his rich benefactor. I promise you have no idea where this film is going, and it is one wild ride.

'The Gentlemen' Season 2 Has Now Started Filming for Netflix
Image
Fans have been left waiting for any updates about the second season of Guy Ritchie’s hit Netflix series, The Gentlemen. And while we now have a promising update, it could mean fans will be left waiting even longer before returning to this caper about an aristocrat and his drug empire.

As per a report by Screen Global Production, The Gentlemen Season 2 has only just started filming, with the Netflix production returning to the United Kingdom for the follow-up. Much like its predecessor, the second season will consist of eight episodes but, while the series was officially renewed back in August last year, it has taken a while before getting it in front of cameras. Meaning audiences are likely looking at a 2026 release date.

Landing on Netflix in March 2024, The Gentlemen is a spin-off of Guy Ritchie’s 2019 crime comedy of the same name starring Matthew McConaughey, Charlie Hunnam, Henry Golding,...

Wtf Happened to Jason Statham?
Image
When you think of Jason Statham, what’s the first thing that comes to mind? If it’s a fit bald dude beating the shit out of a nameless goon, good. That means we’re on the same page. Range is not Jason Statham’s forte, nor would we expect his characters to be able to spell “forte”. But the man has marked himself as maybe The action star in modern movies. And that’s good enough for us and his millions of fans. As Frank Martin said in The Transporter: Never change the deal.

Jason Statham was born on July 26th, 1967 in Shirebrook, England. A natural and gifted athlete, Statham was competing in everything from football to diving (he would later be inducted into the International Sports Hall of Fame). Then came modelling because, well, look at that jawline!

But it was the screen he was destined for.

‘A Working Man’s Rotten Tomatoes Audience Score Lands Inside the Top Five for Jason Statham’s Career
Image
A Working Man is now playing in theaters everywhere, but how does it stack up to other films in Jason Statham’s filmography? That depends on whom you ask. A Working Man earned a “rotten” 51% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, but general audiences have given the film a “verified hot” 89%. This 89% score is enough to land in the top five for all Jason Statham’s movies, sitting at #5 at the time of writing, barely ahead of Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw at 88% but behind Wrath of Man, which earned a 90%. A Working Man was directed by David Ayer, who worked with Statham prior on The Beekeeper, which earned a 92% rating from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, the third-highest of Statham’s career.

Ironically enough, the two highest-rated projects of Jason Statham’s career, according to audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, are also the two first movies he ever starred in.

‘MobLand’ Review: Tom Hardy Shines in Guy Ritchie’s Tense Paramount+ Crime Drama
Image
From “Aladdin” to “Fountain of Youth,” Guy Ritchie has spread his wings in recent years and traveled far and wide to build fantasy worlds for the audiences to lose themselves in. The British director returns to his London street-level crime drama roots as he teams up with “Top Boy” writer Ronan Bennett for “MobLand.”

The Tom Hardy-led series follows Harry de Souza, a fixer for the Harrigan crime family, who is put in the middle of a dangerous situation when the son of rival crime boss Ritchie Stevenson goes missing — last seen alive with the grandson of the Harrigan crime boss. Tensions rise between the two families as it eventually bubbles and “war” is threatened.

From the first scene, the series delivers high-octane action and puts the audience on the edge of their seats as the “Irish gangster and English gentleman” Conrad Harrigan, played by Pierce Brosnan, stakes claim...

'Adolescence' Has Been a Long Time Coming for Stephen Graham
Image
The Netflix limited series Adolescencehas been nothing short of a sensation, earning rapturous reviews and sitting at the top of the streamer's top ten since its release. At a time when many streaming properties struggle to break through, Adolescence has managed to command attention for its visceral performances, technical virtuosity, and distressingly timely subject matter.

While everyone on the series gives it their all, it serves as an ideal showcase for the many talents of its co-creator and star, Stephen Graham. As Eddie, the father of 13-year-old suspected murderer Jamie, Graham radiates genuine love for his son along with deep anger and guilt in the wake of the allegations against him. It's a masterful performance that marks one of Graham's most visible projects to US audiences, but it's really just the latest in a long line of stellar work stretching back over three decades. Among its many virtues, Adolescence is...

Wtf Happened to Gone in 60 Seconds?
Image
Is there any contemporary actor more iconic than Nicolas Cage? Instantly identifiable and beloved by both mainstream audiences and cult aficionados, it’s hard to believe that there was a time when Nicolas Cage wasn’t considered a bankable leading man. While movies like Raising Arizona and Moonstruck established him as a quirky lead, in 1990, he made an action movie called Fire Birds, which was like Top Gun with helicopters and whiffed at the box office. He had a solid hit as a romantic lead in Honeymoon in Vegas. However, in 1995, the same year he delivered an Academy Award-winning performance in Leaving Las Vegas, he was still considered so minor of a star that David Caruso took top billing over him in their remake of Kiss of Death – which – by the way – was another flop. However, that all changed when uber producers Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer decided Cage had potential as an action hero,...

Nicolas Cage's Action Movie With Timothy Olyphant Isn't Great
Image
He didn't have a lead role in Gone in 60 Seconds, but Timothy Olyphant was front and center for a good portion of the movie. The action heist movie from 2000 was a loose remake of the 1974 flick of the same name and starred Nicolas Cage, Angelina Jolie, Giovanni Ribisi, Robert Duvall, and a diverse ensemble cast.

Cage played Randal "Memphis" Raines, a reformed car thief who gets pulled back an auto-theft ring to save his brother, Kip (Ribisi), after he was kidnapped. As Memphis returns to boosting cars, the appearances of his former love interest, Sara "Sway" Wayland (Jolie), Sphinx (Vinnie Jones), and Otto Halliwell(Duvall) as well as the Detectives Castlebeck and Drycoff (Delroy Lindo and Olyphant) both complicate and help him in his efforts.

Gone in 60 Seconds has become a cult classic, albeit one the critics did not like. With its lackluster Rotten Tomatoes score and negative reviews aside,...

The 10 Best Mma Movies, Ranked
Image
Though controversial figures like Joe Rogan and Conor McGregor and organizations like the UFC have turned mixed martial arts into one of the most popular sports in the world, that popularity has failed to translate to the world of cinema. "Rocky" and "Raging Bull" showed what full-contact competitive fighting sports could uniquely bring to the sports subgenre, and the continued success of the "Creed" series proves that the appetite from audiences for this sort of film persists despite the Marvel-ification of the movie theater.

So why aren't there more Mma movies? It's likely because what few have been produced have, on the whole, been critical failures. But that doesn't mean this sub-subgenre is doomed altogether. We've found the 10 best Mma movies ever made, the best qualities of each arguably revealing what qualities future films need to master before entering the theatrical octagon themselves.

The Gentlemen star teases 'darker' season 2 and gives exciting filming update
Image
Theo James is the talk of the town at the moment for his new comedy-horror The Monkey, but he's also got The Gentlemen fans buzzing with his latest season 2 tease. In a new interview, the actor hinted that the upcoming season will take a darker turn while also sharing an exciting update on when filming is set to begin. While major details are still under wraps, James' comments have only fueled anticipation for what’s next in the gritty, high-stakes world of the hit Netflix series.

The crime drama series premiered on Netflix in March 2024 and was an instant hit. Due to the success of the first season, Netflix went ahead and renewed the show for a second season in August 2024. At the time of its renewal, it was revealed that the second installment would see the return of James as Eddie, Kaya Scodelario as Susie, and Daniel Ings as Freddy.

Don't expect The Gentlemen season 2 to come out this year
Image
The crime drama The Gentlemen, which became a hit when it premiered last year on Netflix, has left fans eagerly awaiting its next season. In August 2024, Netflix renewed the series for a second installment, and viewers are excited to see what’s in store for their favorite characters. But unfortunately, it doesn't look like the crime drama series will be returning for its second season this year. The Gentlemen was noticeably absent from Netflix's 2025 lineup, leading many to believe that its second season won't be released until 2026.

Given that the crime drama was renewed in mid-2024, it initially seemed like there would be plenty of time for the filmmaking process for The Gentlemen season 2 to make a 2025 release. However, that doesn't appear to be the case anymore. Production on The Gentlemen season 2 is reportedly set to start sometime in April this year and is expected to last for about four to eight months.

Wtf Happened to Snatch?
Image
Snatch (2000), directed by Guy Ritchie, is often hailed as one of the most stylish, chaotic, and endlessly quotable films of its era. But what the f*ck actually happened to this madcap crime caper—how did it come to be, and what hurdles did it face during production? Let’s take a deep dive into the creation of this frenetic film, a project that fused diamond heists, underground boxing, and an ensemble cast of unforgettable characters into one wildly entertaining package. Buckle up, because the story behind Snatch is as unpredictable as the film itself.

The success of Guy Ritchie’s debut film, Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels (1998), was a game-changer for the British film industry. Made on a modest budget of $1.35 million, Lock, Stock was a smash hit, grossing over $28 million and earning Ritchie accolades as the next big thing in British cinema. The Midnight Meat Train (2008) Revisited – Horror Movie Review
Image
Is there anyone as disappointed in their adaptations as master of horror Clive Barker? Okay, part time Wizard and full-time curmudgeon Alan Moore is probably the most upset at his work being adapted but Clive is a close second. The sad part is that while he has had fewer of his novels or short stories adapted than someone like Stephen King, he has played a part in more of them and been let down more often than not. He also didn’t have a great beginning with film as his first screenplay Transmutations or Underworld he ended up hating. He first adapted his own work with Rawhead Rex in 1986 and hated the end product there too. Other than 1987’s Hellraiser which he wrote and directed, there hasn’t been something that he was disappointed in or was butchered by the studio and he has become a bit jaded. His films...

1 Scene In The Pitt Already Made Me Love It More Than Any Other Current Medical Drama
Image
Max's new medical drama, The Pitt, released its first two episodes and already, it did one small thing that has made me love it so much. The Pitt's cast of characters is led by Noah Wyle as Dr. Michael "Robby" Robinavitch, the head of the emergency department of the fictional Pittsburgh trauma hospital Ptmc. With each episode of The Pitt's 15 episodes following an hour in one 15-hour shift of Dr. Robby's life, the real-time format of the medical drama amps up the intensity.

With that intensity, I expected thatThe Pitt, which is being compared to a grittier ER, would manufacture unrealistic drama for the sake of the story. It's what most medical dramas do, often sacrificing medical realism and accuracy for the sake of dramatic stakes. While The Pitt may certainly fall into that trap in its first season, there was one brief exchange that showed me it was...

1 Classic X-Men Villain Has the Perfect Blueprint For What Not to Do in The MCU
Image
Quick Links Juggernaut and Professor X Have a Deep Rivalry Juggernaut Has Mystical Origins The MCU Can Make Juggernaut More Compelling

With the Infinity Saga having come and gone and the Multiverse Saga approaching its end in Avengers: Secret Wars, the X-Men and their rogues' gallery will most likely be a major focus of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in coming years. The McU's take on the Mutants will inevitably be compared to those who appeared in 20th Century Fox's long-running X-Men film series. Some portrayals, like Hugh Jackman's Wolverine, will be tough acts to follow, but the MCU also has the chance to improve characters who were let down by their previous live-action appearances. One such character is Juggernaut, who has appeared in a total of three films so far. He made his big-screen debut in X-Men: The Last Stand, in which he was portrayed by British actor Vinnie Jones.

'Bullet Proof' Action Flick With 33% Rt Score Is Now One of the Most-Streamed Movies
Image
In 2022, James Clayton directed Bullet Proof, his first feature film which, unfortunately, was met with more than a few unkind words from critics. Starring Clayton as The Thief, the movie also featured the talents of Vinnie Jones, Lina Lecompte, and Philip Granger, who all banded together to create what this writer believes is a fun, action-packed adventure, despite what the detractors say. Now, two years later, it seems a lot of people agree, as the film has risen to the top of the global charts over on Paramount+.

Per FlixPatrol, Bullet Proof has taken the top spot on the streaming service in 18 countries, including Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, and Venezuela, to name a few. The plot revolves around Clayton’s character pulling off the heist of a lifetime when he robs the psychotic drug lord, Temple (Jones), only to discover a stowaway in his getaway car – Temple's pregnant wife, Mia (Lecompte...

One Jason Statham Remake Of A Burt Reynolds Movie Beat The Original - But The Other Didn't Come Close
Image
Jason Statham has starred in two remakes of classic Burt Reynolds movies; one of those remakes fell short of the original, but the other actually surpassed its predecessor. Statham is one of the only remaining old-school movie stars in Hollywood. He has the smoldering charisma of Reynolds, the authentic hard-as-nails badassery of Charles Bronson, and the unabashed coolness of Paul Newman. He’s one of the only actors who can still turn an original story like The Beekeeper into a blockbuster hit at the box office.

But that doesn’t mean all his movies are originals. Statham has headlined his share of franchises, from The Meg to The Transporter to The Expendables, and he’s also joined the ensemble of other stars’ franchises to give them a much-needed shot in the arm, like Fast & Furious. Statham has expressed an interest in joining the James Bond series, he’s made...

Jason Statham's Next Action Movie Finds Its Villain in Award-Winning Actor
Image
Though Jason Statham is one of his generations most recognizable action stars, an action film is only as good as its antagonist, and Mutiny just landed theirs. Roland Mller will be the man facing off against Statham, as he attempts to uncover an international conspiracy.

Per Deadline, Mller will be starring opposite Statham and Annabelle Wallis in Lionsgates latest project. Wallis is best known for her role in The Mummy as well as her character on Peaky Blinders. Statham, of course, has made his name in the action genre. Mller, for his part, has appeared in high profile films like Atomic Blonde with Charlize Theron, as well as the spy action television series Citadel with Game of Thrones' Richard Madden; he also won the Bodil Award for Best Actor for 2015's Land of Mine. Roger Ebert Liked Jason Statham's 'Mean Machine' but Most Critics Hated It
Image
Quick Links What Is 'Mean Machine' About? Why Did Critics Hate 'Mean Machine'? What Are Roger Ebert's Thoughts on 'Mean Machine'?

Jason Statham is no stranger to the action genre and, at present, is one of the most recognized names in action cinema. Having made his film debut in 1998 with Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels, the actor has since starred in numerous projects, including The Transporter films, the Fast and Furious movies, and The Meg installments. However, one of Statham's lesser-known works includes 2001's Mean Machine.

Directed by Barry Skolnick and produced by Matthew Vaughn, Mean Machine is a sports comedy crime film starring former football player Vinnie Jones. The film made its debut in the UK on December 26, 2001. However, the work, an adaptation of the American film The Longest Yard (1974), was not received well by viewers or critics. At the time of writing, it sits with a dismal 33% on Rotten Tomatoes' Tomatometer.
