2025's excellent medical drama, The Pitt, has proved to be an impactful show that revitalized the genre's popularity beyond expectations. It was realistic and raw in how it mirrors the experience of real-life healthcare workers. It was also an emotional ride with compelling characters who kept us hooked for weeks on their 15-hour shift at the ER of the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital. All the performances were staggering, but it was Noah Wyle's which stood out the most. His performance as Dr. Michael Robinavitch, a.k.a. Robby is one of the year's best, and his co-star in the classic show ER, Hollywood (and now Broadway) legend George Clooney, agrees with this.

Initially intended as a spinoff from FBI, it has evolved into a broader universe expansion, with potential to become another multi-show franchise.

Lasalle brings a wealth of behind-the-scenes experience, having worked on Chicago P.D. as an executive producer, as well as Law & Order and On Call, where he also starred and produced.

There is an argument to be made that the streamer, which gains a massive subscriber boost due to its direct connection with Amazon's delivery service, struggles outside certain avenues. The streamer is home to big action thrillers that would fit well on the big screen. Along with Reacher, Prime Video has The Terminal List, Alex Cross, and the Jack Ryan franchise. But with The Summer I Turned Pretty ending later this year, it resurfaces the idea that the platform has struggled to make much of its smaller originals and more scaled-down stories. The latest news reaffirms the argument.

Dick Wolf's first streaming procedural, On Call, is not returning for Season 2 on Prime Video. Deadline reports that the show, starring Troian Bellisario and Brandon Larracuente, has been canceled at the global streamer after Prime Video passed on another season. However, there is some good news for fans of the half-hour police drama. Wolf Entertainment and Universal Television are engaged in talks for a second season on another platform. The cancellation is a surprising development, but not entirely unforeseen given the significant time-lapse between Season 1's debut date and news of renewal or cancellation.

It is being reported that Prime Video was considering a two-season renewal, but the deal came with strings attached. They wanted the two production companies to reduce the series' premium, but that was a non-starter for them, and the two-season deal fell apart. TV economics are changing, and sometimes what worked before no longer does.

Nearly two months after its Prime Video premiere, On Call remains in the streamer's daily Top 10 ranking. The police drama series hails from executive producer Dick Wolf, a master of the procedural drama genre.

According to FlixPatrol, On Call has been hovering around the No. 5 and No. 6 spots in Prime Video's Top 10 this week. This marks a bit of a drop for the police drama, which spent the first week in the No. 1 spot on the streamer's TV Top 10. This achievement led to YouTuber Mr. Beast's reality competition series Beast Games finally being bumped out of the top spot.
