It’s the actors’ turn to speak. The 2025 Screen Actors Guild Award got underway on Sunday night, with the Hollywood guild members awarding what they feel where the best performances and ensembles of the year across film and television.

So many celebrities stepped out to celebrate the start of awards season at the SAG Awards Season Celebration on Thursday night (December 12) in Los Angeles.

Hallmark stars Ashley Williams and Nikki DeLoach hosted the seventh annual Dance Party to End Alz: Halloween Edition on Sunday, Oct. 27 at Avalon in Hollywood, which raised $250,000 and counting for the Alzheimer's Association research grant program.

The event founded by Kimberly Williams-Paisley was emceed by Jonathan Bennett and Melissa Peterman.

Williams and DeLoach opened the evening with a surprise performance of “Thriller.” The duo welcomed guests and shared why co-hosting the event meant so much to them after both losing a parent to dementia. Williams’ mom, Linda, passed away with Alzheimer’s in 2016, and DeLoach’s dad, David, passed away with Pick’s disease, a rare form of dementia, in 2021.

Dressed in a variety of Halloween costumes, performers took to the stage covering their favorite hits. Accompanied by house band Casual Encounters, performances included:

Hallmark Channel stars Nikki DeLoach and Ashley Williams got all dressed up in costumes to host the 7th Annual Dance Party to End Alz on Sunday (October 27) in Los Angeles.

The duo were joined by so many other network stars at the event, which was hosted at Avalon Hollywood. During it, they raised over $250,000 for The Alzheimer’s Association Research Grant Program.

The star-studded evening, themed “The Power of the Collective,” took place on Thursday night (October 24) at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.

The event is an annual benefit supporting Wif’s educational and philanthropic programs, and its advocacy for gender parity in entertainment. Other honorees at the event included Annette Bening, Michelle Buteau, Danielle Sanchez-Witzel and Ellen Kuras and some of the presenters included Jane Fonda, Marion Cotillard, Janelle James, and more.

While heading up to the stage, Joey had a minor wardrobe malfunction and adorably played it off. Make sure to check out the hilarious video!

Hollywood A-listers took to social media this weekend to honor Sam Rubin, the beloved Ktla anchor who died on Friday.

“Your professionalism was unmatched by your kindness and humanity,” Viola Davis wrote on Instagram. “I will miss your presence on The Red Carpet. God bless your loved ones. Godspeed.”

Rubin was a popular entertainment anchor on Ktla-tv’s morning show, and appeared across Hollywood at award shows and red carpet events. He died of a heart attack on Friday at age 64.

Voyager broke a Star Trek rule by depicting the original Amelia Earhart, unlike other historical figures who were clones or holograms. The inclusion of the real Amelia Earhart provided a concrete explanation for her disappearance and referenced the popular theory of her abduction by aliens. Earhart's interactions with Captain Janeway showcased the parallels between them as pioneering women in their respective fields, leaving a memorable mark on the franchise.

Amelia Earhart (Sharon Lawrence) on Star Trek: Voyager broke a franchise rule just like Star Trek: The Next Generation had previously. Like the rest of the franchise, Voyager would sometimes depict real-life historical figures when it was necessary to the plot. Some of the real people in Voyager episodes included Isaac Newton, Ghadi, Lord Byron, Socrates, and a few memorable appearances of the holographic Leonardo da Vinci. However, the first historical figure to appear on Voyager was Amelia Earhart.

"The 37's" episode of Star Trek: Voyager could have been improved with a two-part format to fully explore its two massive storylines. The episode suffered from a lack of exploration of a human colony in the Delta Quadrant, which could have been fascinating if given more screen time. Star Trek: Discovery's episode "New Eden" demonstrated how a similar storyline could be successfully executed without overshadowing the larger plot, proving that expanding "The 37's" would have worked.

Star Trek: Voyager's infamous Amelia Earhart episode failed to live up to expectations, but one big fix would have solved its issues. Voyager season 2, episode 1, "The 37's" saw the crew of the USS Voyager follow a series of clues — that started with finding a Ford truck floating in space — to a remote alien planet. There, the crew discovered a group of cryogenically frozen humans, including Earhart (Sharon Lawrence) as well as a...

Voyager's original season 1 finale, "The 37's," would have been a better choice to end the season. "The 37's" had a more expansive and interesting plot that introduced a famous historical figure. Ending with "The 37's" would have provided an interesting parallel between Voyager and Tng.

Star Trek: Voyager's season 1 finale episode was a mistake. Voyager season 1 was the shortest in the series, coming in at only 16 episodes while all other seasons were 26. Is Paramount+ cleaning house?

It seems that every scripted series that doesn't have Taylor Sheridan's name attached is getting the pink slip.

The latest series to get canceled is Joe Pickett, which recently wrapped its sophomore run on the service.

We get it: The streaming bubble has burst.

Amid the SAG-AFTRA strike and coming off the WGA strike, some controversial decisions have been made across the whole breadth of the business.

But this latest cancellation from Paramount+ hurts, mainly because the series didn't waste a single scene.

Paramount+ recently caught heat when it promoted the season finale as the series finale before walking the footage back.

These things happen.

It happened with Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin on Max, which went on to get renewed, so maybe it was a mistake.

But it doesn't get away from the fact that we're losing a gem of a series that delivered on many fronts.

"Joe Pickett", the new mystery TV series, based on author C.J. Joe Pickett will not return for a third season. Paramount+ has canceled the series, starring Michael Dorman, after two seasons.

The series was originally commissioned by Spectrum in early 2021, which announced prior to the debut of season two that it would be shutting down Spectrum Originals. Paramount+ had the streaming rights to the series and seasons 1 and 2 will continue to be available on the service.

Joe Pickett followed a dedicated game warden (Dorman) and his family as they navigated the shifting sociopolitical climate of a small rural town on the verge of economic collapse.

In the most recent second season, the Wyoming game warden, played by Dorman, discovers a hunter murdered in the mountains and realizes his is just one of a series of gruesome murders. To solve the case and catch the killer, Joe must navigate a radical anti-hunting activist, a ghoulish set of twins living off the grid and his own tortured past.

“Joe Pickett” has been canceled at Paramount+ after two seasons, Variety has learned.

The drama series was originally commissioned by Charter Communications’ Spectrum Originals in early 2021. The first season aired on that platform beginning in December 2021, with Spectrum announcing a second season order in February 2022.

However, Spectrum Originals head Katherine Pope was named head of Sony Pictures Television in July 2022, with Charter announcing it would be shutting down Spectrum Originals operations in August of that year. Paramount+ has the streaming rights to the series, as it is produced by Paramount Television Studios, with Season 2 airing on the streaming service beginning in June 2023. Both seasons will remain available on the service for the time being.

“Joe Pickett” followed the title character, a Wyoming game warden played by Michael Dorman, as he investigates crimes in and around the town of Saddlestring. The series is based on the Joe Pickett novels written by C.J. Box.

Thirty years ago today, on September 21, 1993, at 10/9c, NYPD Blue premiered on ABC.

However, its debut didn't necessarily mean it reached every household.

The controversial series premiered to apocalyptic fanfare, with critics wondering if the series would usher in the end of TV as viewers knew it.

It’s funny the things you remember from your youth. I was at the age where the idea of a series willing to push the envelope, delivering a taste of the big screen on the small, sounded like an excellent idea.

They say that all publicity is good publicity, but people around the country were so concerned about the effect the show may have on the morals of the everyman that 57 local stations around the country refused to air the premiere.

A month later, there were still 45 ABC affiliates who, due to the possibility of coarse language and nudity, were still not airing it.

On Sunday, August 6, the MPTF NextGen Board, a diverse group of entertainment industry professionals who represent the future of Hollywood and support MPTF’s mission of “taking care of our own,” hosted the 2023 NextGen Summer Party on the rooftop of NeueHouse Hollywood.

Queen Sugar ends tonight on OWN, and series creator Ava DuVernay has discussed the series finale in an interview with Deadline. The show premiered in 2016 and wraps this evening after seven seasons with a special 90-minute episode.

The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences on Tuesday morning announced the nominations for the inaugural Children’s & Family Emmy Awards, which will be presented on Saturday, Dec. 10 (Creative Arts) and Sunday, Dec. 11 at the Wilshire Ebell Theater in Los Angeles.

Disney+’s The Mysterious Benedict Society and the movie Sneakerella lead the pack with 11 nominations each, followed by HBO Max’s Sesame Street (with 10) and Netflix’s Heartstopper and Sweet Tooth (which netted nine apiece).

OWN has released the official trailer for the seventh and final season of the critically acclaimed drama, created by Ava DuVernay and executive produced by Oprah Winfrey, which begins Tuesday, Sept. 6.

When the ABC drama “NYPD Blue” premiered in the fall of 1993, it shocked and impressed viewers with its gritty portrayal of the lives of police officers. Queen Sugar creator and executive producer Ava DuVernay, who directed the pilot, will return to direct the series’ final episode. Production on the seventh and final season has begun in and around New Orleans.

DuVernay will wrap up seven seasons of an all-women directorial team for OWN’s award-winning drama series. In addition to DuVernay, season 7 directors include Kat Candler, Stacey Muhammad, showrunner Shaz Bennett, Patricia Cardoso, Aurora Guerrero and DeMane Davis.

When Queen Sugar first began production in 2016, DuVernay made a commitment to exclusively hire women as directors, and kept that promise through the entire series run. Over the course of its seven seasons, Queen Sugar has employed 42 women to direct episodes of the show, with 39 of those being first-time scripted television directors in the United States.

Kaci Walfall will reunite with Naomi co-creator Ava DuVernay by way of a guest-starring role during the farewell run of the prolific producer’s Queen Sugar.

The OWN family drama’s end point was announced back in November, when it was renewed for a seventh and final season. “To everything, there is a season,” series creator DuVernay said at the time in a statement. “And my producing partner Paul Garnes and I have had seven gorgeous seasons making Queen Sugar with a remarkable cast and crew, alongside our partners at OWN and Warner Bros. Television.”

The made-for-tv movie was a programming staple for the broadcast networks in the 1970s and 1980s. While it fell out of favor in the 1990s and was even dropped as an Emmy Awards category for three years beginning in 2011, it has been on an upswing as of late. This year, 48 telefilms are in contention for the five nominations that will be revealed on July 12; last year, only 41 TV movies were submitted.

All 22,000 plus voting members of the TV academy have until June 27 to cast their 2022 Emmy Awards nominations ballots for their favorite TV movies. In the past, voters were limited in the number of telefilms that they could put forth. In 2017, that cap (which was usually 10 per category) was lifted.
