The Sam Raimi Superhero Movie Julia Roberts Rejected Because of Liam Neeson
Image
Before helming the beloved Spider-Man trilogy, director Sam Raimi first tried his hand at the superhero genre with the 1990 movie Darkman. In the movie, actor Liam Neeson plays Dr. Peyton Westlake, and actress Julia Roberts was considered for the role of his love interest.

According to reports, Roberts even auditioned for the role before stepping away because of Neeson’s involvement in the project. The two had recently broken up when the Raimi-directed movie was in the casting process. Here is why Julia Roberts turned down Darkman following her breakup with Liam Neeson.

Julia Roberts Rejected Sam Raimi’s Darkman Because of Breakup with Liam Neeson

Liam Neeson and Julia Roberts worked together on the 1988 comedy-drama movie Satisfaction. Although the movie received mostly negative reviews, it sparked a romance between a then-19-year-old Roberts and 35-year-old Neeson, who met during its production (via Irish Star).

Keith David has amazing reaction to Hollywood Walk of Fame induction
The Golden Rule: He who has the gold makes the rules. Well, the stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame may not be made of gold (they’re bronze and terrazzo), but one of our favorite stars, Keith David, is still getting one…much to his shock.

While there is a nomination process that goes along with getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, a video posted to social media shows Keith David’s utter disbelief that he is among those being honored next year. When his name is announced, his jaw drops, he covers his mouth and grabs his chest as a huge commotion erupts offscreen, celebrating the milestone for the actor.

@imkeithdavid

What a surprise! Being #blessed to Get to do this for a living is enough for me; to be recognized for my contribution to the arts is the cherry on top. Thank you, #hollywoodwalkoffame & Hollywood Chamber for this honor.

It’s A Shame This Powerful Crossover Between Two Similar Cops Could Never Happen
Image
TV missed out on the most powerful crossover between two similar cops ever, and it’s a shame.

Blue Bloods‘ Danny Reagan and Law & Order: Organized Crime‘s Elliot Stabler is a partnership meant to happen… or two cops who are way too similar at each others’ throats.

Blue Bloods even had the perfect infrastructure set up for a crossover… except the two shows exist in different versions of New York City, so it could never happen.

Most of the time, Danny worked with his regular partner, but once a season, there was a special episode where he had to work with somebody from another jurisdiction who annoyed the hell out of him.

The Long Road to Lost Highway: How The Trailblazing Country Label Found Its Second Life
Image
The year was 2000. Y2K had come and gone without a hitch. Cell phones were still a novelty and not yet an appendage. And a decidedly analog album was taking the country by storm.

The arrival of O Brother, Where Art Thou in December of that year, a soundtrack that went on to sell over eight million copies and win two Grammys (including album of the year at the 2002 awards), put a little-known label called Lost Highway on the map. Its sound — a blend of Americana, bluegrass and Appalachian standards — hit a chord. The company’s roster, which included Willie Nelson, Lyle Lovett, Lucinda Williams, Elvis Costello and eventually a 23-year-old newcomer named Kacey Musgraves, proved its vitality upon launch.

In many ways, Lost Highway was ahead of its time. It identified career artists that could thrive outside of the Nashville system and gave them the freedom to explore their own musical paths.

Blue Bloods has a potential spin-off but it's not the one we need
Image
Blue Bloods is getting a spinoff, after all! But is it the one we want?

Blue Bloods fans are still mourning the end of the long-running CBS series. After 14 seasons, it signed off in December 2024 with a good finale that wrapped up things for the Reagans while still leaving the door open for more plotlines.

There has been buzz for a while about a spinoff, and many ideas have been suggested. Most focused on Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg), the veteran detective. Well, it looks like it’s happening after all!

Deadline has reported CBS is ordering to series Boston Blue, a new spinoff that will transplant Danny from New York to Boston. Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis will serve as showrunners and executive-produce alongside Wahlberg, Jerry Bruckheimer, and Kristie Anne Reed.

What’s interesting is that the show wasn’t intended as a Blue Bloods spinoff. An original concept would...

Blue Bloods Isn’t Returning, But Boston Blue Has Serious Potential (and Some Concerns)
Image
A Blue Bloods spinoff is in the works, but it won’t be what most fans hoped for.

No offshoot of Blue Bloods could come close. Most of what’s on our wish list is basically another season of the original, and CBS already nixed that idea.

Still, there is some cause for hope with Boston Blue, the new spinoff coming next year, even if there are also some serious continuity issues.

(Courtesy of CBS) Donnie Wahlberg’s Participation Is Very Good News

Danny was never my favorite character. That will forever and always be Jamie. That said, I’m thrilled that Donnie Wahlberg has signed on to the new Blue Bloods spinoff.

Wahlberg is second only to Tom Selleck in his passion for the original show. He fought hard for it to remain on the air and expressed regret that he couldn’t do that for the fans.

Fan Shares ‘Sad’ Lyle Lovett Concert, What Went Wrong?
Image
Lyle Lovett has been in the music business a long time, and he has plenty of hits to his name. However, based on a fan account of a recent concert of his, there seems to be legitimate reason to be concerned. So, what’s going on with the singer, and what did the concert-goer have to say?

Lyle Lovett Has Been In The Music Biz A Long Time

Lyle Lovett has had a long career that spans decades. He was signed to McA Records in 1986, and he released his debut album not long after that. Over the years, he put together an impressive career, and certainly not one for anyone to scoff at.

Lovett did not begin writing songs until he went to Texas A&m University in the late 1970s. So, that accounts for decades of writing music under his belt. In 2022, he released the studio album 12th of June,...

Before the love triangle of Brad Pitt-Angelina Jolie-Jennifer Aniston became the biggest celebrity scandal of the 2000s, we had another celebrity love triangle in the ’90s. Kiefer Sutherland was all set to marry Julia Roberts in 1991, but the marriage never happened and Roberts was later spotted with actor Jason Patric, who was one of Sutherland’s best friends.

“He’s also completely disgusting”: Julia Roberts Will Never Work With an Acting Legend Who Has Been in Both Marvel and Star Wars
Image
Legendary actress Julia Roberts, during her career, has had the opportunity to work with some of the biggest names in the industry. Through movies such as Erin Brockovich, the Ocean’s series, and Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, Roberts has proven her mettle both as an actress and a collaborator.

However, one particular big name, who worked with Roberts on 1994’s I Love Trouble, did not share the best experience with the actress. So much so that Roberts publicly called him “completely disgusting.” The actor was none other than Nick Nolte, who went on to work on franchises such as Marvel and Star Wars.

The Two Perfect Jennifer Jason Leigh Movies, According To Rotten Tomatoes
Image
Jennifer Jason Leigh came from a showbiz family. Her father was Vic Morrow, a prolific film and TV actor who starred in the series "Combat!" Her mother was Barbara Turner who acted in many TV shows throughout the '50s and '60s, and who wrote the screenplays for "Petulia," "Cujo," "Georgia," and "Pollock." Leigh started attending acting workshops when she was still a teenager, studying with Lee Strasberg. At age 16, she started to land her first professional acting gigs, appearing in an episode of "Baretta," and in the film "The Young Runaways." In 1981, she caught the public's eye playing a young woman battling anorexia in the TV movie "The Best Little Girl in the World," but it wasn't until her role in 1982's "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" that the world took proper notice.

After that, Leigh was an actress to look out for. Her intense performances always lend...

Blue Bloods boss teases the return of beloved characters in series finale
Image
We're on the cusp of saying goodbye. Blue Bloods has one more episode to gift to viewers before going off the air for good. It's strange to think of a CBS lineup without the show, given that it's been holding down the fort on Thursday nights for a decade and a half.

There's going to be plenty going on in the season finale, including a funeral, a few tense decisions to be made on the part of Chief Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck), and resolutions to character arcs that have been teased throughout season 14. The big thing everybody is curious about, though, is the family dinner.

Reagan family members will return for the finale "Fog of War" -- Danny and Baez work with Texas Ranger Waylon Gates (Lyle Lovett) when they are put on a case to find the Lone Star Killer. Also, after Eddie's partner, Officer James Addison (Justin Cunningham), mistakenly shoots an undercover cop,...

Julia Roberts’ Dating History: From Matthew Perry to Ethan Hawke
Image
Hollywood’s Sweetheart, Julia Roberts, has been one of the industry’s most beloved icons for decades. The actress rose to stardom with her unforgettable role in Pretty Woman and has ever since reigned both in romantic comedies and dramatic roles like Notting Hill, My Best Friend’s Wedding, Steel Magnolias, and Erin Brokovich.

Ever since Roberts skyrocketed to fame in the ‘80s, her dating life has been a bit like a rom-com plot itself. Fans followed her romances with some of Hollywood’s biggest names. Roberts has been married twice, although her first marriage was short-lived, her second marriage with Danny Moder has been the real love story for over two decades now. Together, they share three children, twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, and a son, Henry.

Blue Bloods Season 14 Episode 12 Review: With Only Seven Episodes Left, Every Moment Counts
Image
It happens at least once a season, but with only seven episodes left I didn’t have patience for Danny’s guest partner.

Blue Bloods Season 14 Episode 12 sidelined Baez in favor of a snobby British investigator who insisted Danny work with him to catch a gunrunner, while Jamie had the goofiest case he’s had in a while.

However, Frank and Erin demonstrated yet again that they take their jobs seriously, and their integrity more than made up for the silliness elsewhere.

(Courtesy of CBS) Danny’s Guest Partner On Blue Bloods Season 14 Episode 12 Was One Of The Most Annoying Temporary Characters In Blue Bloods History

I’ve never been a fan of these guest partner episodes, which tend to follow the formula of Baez being sidelined in favor of some guy Danny finds annoying, only for the two to develop mutual respect before the case ends.

Classic Rock Doc for Real Music Fans Gets Trailer with Runaway Radio
Image
Runaway Radio delves into the rise and fall of influential rock radio station 101 Klol and its impact on the music industry. Featuring interviews with industry legends like Zz Top and Sammy Hagar, this documentary highlights the evolution of radio in the digital age. Directed by Mike McGuff and produced by Jeffrey Brown, Runaway Radio offers a compelling look at the changing landscape of music and media.

The film industry has changed almost in tandem with the music industry. Old method of distribution were disrupted by consumer technology and eventually post-digital streaming platforms, be it Spotify or Netflix. Radio, like cable television, has suffered as a result, especially the already rare rock radio stations that had developed big personalities, large audiences, and special real estate in the music industry. Houston's 101 Klol was one such station, and it serves as a microcosm for the changes in radio, music, and rock over the...

Julia Roberts reveals why she envies other actors
Julia Roberts envies actors who are “very technical”.The ‘Pretty Woman’ star, 56, had no acting experience or formal training when she moved to New York City after high school to pursue a career in showbusiness, and said she simply relies on her ability when shooting movies to ignore the cameras. She told Vogue: “Well, it’s funny, because my most technical job is to forget where the camera is.“It’s the camera’s responsibility to be in the right place for the scene. That’s not my job. I do think that is a thing that kind of separates actors from non-actors – being able to find the camera, but for it to have no conscious consequence.“It doesn’t scare me, it doesn’t comfort me. It’s the documentarian of whatever I’m doing.”When her interviewer pointed out she wasn’t trained as an actor, Julia added: “No,...

Kennedy Center Honors: The Show’s Most Memorable Performances
Image
There’s a reason the word honors is in the title. To help celebrate the lifetime contributions of artists in music, dance, theater, opera, movies and TV, the Kennedy Center Honors routinely pay tribute to its recipients by rewarding them with memorable performances.

Scores of artists have been feted since the Honors got their start in 1978, but there are certain tributes that remain sketched in our hearts forever. In anticipation of the 46th annual event honoring Billy Crystal, Renée Fleming, Barry Gibb, Queen Latifah, and Dionne Warwick on Dec. 27, we look back at some of the show’s most unforgettable performances — starting with Lenny Bernstein’s opening speech from the very first Kennedy Center Honors, of course.

Lyle Lovett Sings In Nashville For His Summer Tour
Image
Country singer Lyle Lovett sang for Nashville, Tennessee, over the weekend as part of his Lyle Lovett and His Large Band tour.

Lovett announced the summer tour back in April, in support of his 1989 album, Lyle Lovett and His Large Band, for which he won the Grammy Award for Best Male Country Vocal Performance. That wasn’t his only Grammy win, however, as he won three more later on.

Last year, after ten years, Lovett released his latest album, 12th of June, which was inspired by his children’s birthday. He shares his twin children, Will and Ella, 5, with his wife, April Kimble.

Lyle Lovett and His Large Band tour is set to end on August 24 in Forth Worth, Texas.

Magnolia Buys ‘Immediate Family,’ Denny Tedesco’s Follow-Up to ‘The Wrecking Crew’ (Exclusive)
Image
Magnolia Pictures has acquired North American rights to “Immediate Family,” director Denny Tedesco’s follow-up to his acclaimed documentary “The Wrecking Crew.”

That earlier film, which Magnolia also released, followed the first wave of studio musicians in the ’60s. “Immediate Family” takes up the story where “The Wrecking Crew” ended, taking a deep dive through some of the most famous and influential session musicians from the 1970s.

To that end, the new documentary includes commentary from the likes of Carole King, James Taylor, Linda Ronstadt, David Crosby, Jackson Browne, Lyle Lovett, Keith Richards, Don Henley, Stevie Nicks, and Phil Collins. Magnolia will release the film theatrically in December.

In addition to talking to those music legends, “Immediate Family” tracks the rise and collaborations of session musicians Danny Kortchmar, Leland Sklar, Russ Kunkel, and Waddy Wachtel as they help craft some of the decade’s most enduring hits.

Lyle Lovett, Country Music’s Most Mysterious Man, Can’t Stop Rambling
Image
Standing behind a camera atop a tripod onstage at the Smoky Mountain Center for the Performing Arts in Franklin, North Carolina, Lyle Lovett peers into the viewfinder and pauses for a moment before hitting the shutter button.

Lovett’s road manager yells loudly, “Fire in the hole,” as the room goes silent, the only subsequent sound being the click of the camera. The entire scene repeats itself a handful of times before Lovett is satisfied with how the empty venue, soon-to-be-packed with concertgoers, is portrayed.

Big Sky Canceled at ABC After Three Seasons
Image
ABC has axed Big Sky. Deadline reports that the show has been officially canceled after three seasons with no plans to develop a season 4. The show is one of three to be axed by the network on Friday, joining Alaska Daily and The Company You Keep. As of now, there's no word on whether the producers plan on shopping the series elsewhere for a potential pickup. However, there was reportedly a pitch for a potential fourth season that was described as a "creative reboot" which would have had more direct involvement from creator David E. Kelley.

Per the new report, it's believed that falling ratings are the primary reason behind Big Sky getting the boot. The third season is said to have been among the lowest of the TV season for ABC's scripted content. Making matters worse were rumors of on-set drama and "challenging economics" involved with developing a drama show's fourth season.

Blue Bloods Season 13 Episode 19 Spoilers: A Fire Creates Problems For Danny's Case
Tom Selleck, Bridget Moynahan, Donnie Wahlberg, and Will Estes in Blue Bloods (2010)
Fires at NYPD storage units are rare. These facilities hold evidence needed to turn arrests into convictions, so the authorities take every precaution.

That's probably why Blue Bloods Season 13 Episode 19 spoilers say that Jamie investigates whether arson is to blame for an all-consuming blaze.

The fire destroys evidence Danny collected against a notorious drug cartel boss, which means this story will have wide-reaching consequences.

Could the criminal in question be the one Lyle Lovett's character helped Danny transport on Blue Bloods Season 13 Episode 15?

That guy was especially dangerous, attempting to threaten the Reagan family after Danny refused to let him escape in exchange for ten million dollars. It tracks that he, or someone in his organization, would destroy evidence to block his prosecution.

Hopefully, the arson can be traced to him, but will it be too late?...

Lyle Lovett in Bastard Out of Carolina (1996)
Blue Bloods Season 13 Episode 15 Spoilers: Waylon Gates' Return Puts the Reagan Family in Danger
Lyle Lovett in Bastard Out of Carolina (1996)
Lyle Lovett's return might be good news for fans, but not so much for the Reagans.

Whenever his character shows up, Danny has his hands full. He has to stop Gates from engaging in cowboy justice instead of following New York rules.

And on Blue Bloods Season 13 Episode 15, Gates' newest mission could paint a target on every Reagan's back.

Gates' original appearance made sense. He and Danny had to work together to find the Lone Star Killer, who hailed from Texas and was attacking people in New York. Similarly, he and Danny had to work together to catch a killer on Blue Bloods Season 12 Episode 10.

This time, Danny will help Gates transport a dangerous drug kingpin from Texas to New York to face arraignment. That seems odd; why is Danny needed for this task?
