‘9-1-1’: Eddie Makes Major Decision About Christopher, Plus 118 Lets Down Hen
Image
[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for 9-1-1 Season 8 Episode 13 “Invisible.”] Eddie (Ryan Guzman) finally says what he should have the moment his son Christopher (Gavin McHugh) decided to move in with his grandparents in Texas in the latest 9-1-1 episode. Just as Eddie’s excited to surprise Chris with basketball tickets, his parents tell him about his chess tournament for the same weekend. (Chris doesn’t seem so enthused.) What’s worse: Only one parent is allowed per contestant … and Eddie’s father, Ramon (George DelHoyo), is attending. Poor Eddie! Then when he tries to offer to take his father’s place, his mother, Helena (Paula Marshall), remarks that the weekend is a busy time for his work as an Uber driver. Then she guilts him into rescinding his offer. But during one of their FaceTime calls, Buck (Oliver Stark) suggests he just go anyway. Eddie argues he doesn’t want to “damage” his son, but Buck ...

Has Eddie left the 118 for good in 911 season 8? The door is open
Image
Eddie has made a huge sacrifice for the sake of Christopher in 911 season 8, and it was needed. The question is whether he’ll return to the 118. Don’t rule it out, but I don’t think it should happen for some time.

Caution: This post contains Spoilers from 911 season 8, episode 12.

The latest episode saw Eddie in Texas. We picked up with him attempting to land a job at a new firehouse, only to learn that there is a hiring freeze going on. That meant that Eddie had to turn to being a rideshare driver to make ends meet.

It seemed like it was all for nothing, and after learning that Bobby had said there would always be a place for him at the 118, he called Buck to discuss moving back. Buck stopped him in his tracks, though. Buck did the mature thing and reminded Eddie that he needed to...

‘9-1-1’ Star Ryan Guzman Breaks Down That Sad Buddie Farewell
Image
Note: This story contains spoilers from “9-1-1” Season 8, Episode 10.

While “9-1-1” fans were relieved that Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) was saved before her crazed kidnapper (Abigail Spencer) could kill her, Thursday night’s episode still ended on a sad note as Buck (Oliver Stark) watched best friend Eddie (Ryan Guzman) leave for Texas.

Of course, Guzman isn’t actually leaving the series, as showrunner Tim Minear has already made clear, but Eddie’s absence will be felt in L.A. as he tries to reconnect with his son Christopher (Gavin McHugh) in El Paso.

“We will be in Texas for a bit. The end goal is to get Eddie back to the 118, but we’ll see what happens,” said Guzman, who said he doesn’t know the timeframe for Eddie’s expected return.

TheWrap spoke with Guzman about what we can expect from Eddie’s time in Texas, why this...

The 15 Best Seinfeld Episodes Ranked
Image
With the show continuing to find new audiences in the streaming era and influence current sitcoms, it's safe to say "Seinfeld" is one of the greatest comedies of all time. Created by Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld, the show ran for nine seasons from 1989 to 1998, depicting the misadventures of a fictionalized version of Seinfeld and his friends. Each episode was relatively self-contained, with Jerry and his friends running into various misanthropic antics involving dating, their careers, and living in New York City. For a show seemingly about nothing, the phrases, terms, and scenarios throughout "Seinfeld" have entered the modern lexicon as a testament to the show's legacy.

While many of the show's 180 episodes are enduring classics, there are a handful that are just a cut above the rest (with some stinkers mixed in occasionally). From giving each of its main ensemble perfectly inane storylines to thoroughly quotable scenes, these episodes...

'90s Sitcoms That Deserved More Seasons
Image
Television has improved in some major ways since the 1990s, but sitcoms have particularly struggled and been forced to make many concessions that are indicative of the medium's current streaming slate. There's a fearlessness that was pervasive throughout '90s sitcoms that led to some major risks being taken. That's not to say that all of these gambles paid off, but it resulted in an eclectic roster of programming that occasionally feels completely at odds with everything else that was present on the medium.

Granted, the '90s also produced some of the most successful and conventional sitcoms of all time, such as Friends, Seinfeld, and Frasier. However, there is also a wide array of short-lived sitcoms that were either cut short or never truly got a chance to find audiences and grow. It's fascinating to look back on these '90s cult classics with the benefit of hindsight and...

Chicago Med threatens Archer’s transplant surgery in new episode
Image
A new episode of Chicago Med debuts on Wednesday night, with the plot revolving around the transplant surgery for Dr. Dean Archer.

Archer has been dealing with kidney failure, but a donor finally surfaced in the form of his son. Now, his son is ready to give his father one of his kidneys.

But it wouldn’t be a One Chicago show without an episode where something threatened to take away that kidney.

Actor Steven Weber joined the Chicago Med cast in 2021, bringing energy on the opposite end of the spectrum from other Ed doctors.

Archer came over from the military and had a friendship with Dr. Ethan Choi (Brian Tee).

The first Chicago Med Season 9 episode brought everyone up to speed on Archer’s predicament, introduced a new cast member, and revealed Dr. Daniel Charles has ties to the new guy.

Chicago Med Season 9, Episode 2 synopsis

‘Euphoria’ Creator Sam Levinson, Co-Star Javon Walton Remember Angus Cloud: ‘Too Special, Too Talented and Way Too Young to Leave Us’
Image
“Euphoria” creator Sam Levinson and various cast members of the HBO series are paying tribute to Angus Cloud. The actor died on Monday in Oakland, Calif.

“There was no one quite like Angus. He was too special, too talented and way too young to leave us so soon,” wrote Levinson, who has directed almost every episode of “Euphoria.” “He also struggled, like many of us, with addiction and depression. I hope he knew how many hearts he touched. I loved him. I always will. Rest in peace and God Bless his family.”

On “Euphoria,” Cloud portrayed Fez, a drug dealer with a soft side facing the dangers of his town’s seedy underbelly. A fan-favorite cast member, Cloud starred in the series alongside Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Hunter Schafer, Maude Apatow and many more. Discovered by the show’s casting department while working in a restaurant in New York, “Euphoria” marked...

Today, we have the first new episode since the big move, and in this one hosts John “The Arrow” Fallon and Lance Vlcek are joined by Tyler Nichols to discuss the 1992 film Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth (watch it Here).

JoBlo and Arrow in the Head readers might know Tyler Nichols from the reviews he writes for the site, or from the JoBlo Horror Originals videos he writes, narrates, and/or produces.

Jared Padalecki Looks Back on ‘Walker’ Season 2 & Ahead to ‘Independence’
Image
[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Walker‘s Season 2 finale, “Something’s Missing.” So if you haven’t watched yet, that’s Ok because this is a conversation with Jared Padalecki and that’s always a good thing!] The fiery feud between the Walkers and the Davidsons came to a fittingly heated end Thursday night as Gale (Paula Marshall) finally admitted to daughter Geri (Odette Annable) that she, not Cordell (Jared Padalecki), had caused the barn blaze years ago that killed Marv Davidson. After learning that he’d lied about Baby Geri dying, Gale clobbered the jerk with a lantern, the place went up in flames and poor lil Cordi became convinced it was his fault because he’d brought the lantern to the barn to watch a comet with Denise. Got that? Good, because once the smoke cleared, there was even more to deal with: Gale was taken into custody, Abby (Molly Hagan) got her long-overdue apology and ...

‘Euphoria’: Why Cal Jacobs Will Likely Return in the Season 2 Finale
Image
The penultimate episode of Euphoria Season 2 ended on quite the cliffhanger. Between the final shot of Cassie’s (Sydney Sweeney) angry face and Fezco’s (Angus Cloud) fate up in the air, there was no shortage of drama following Lexi’s (Maude Apatow) play. Everyone’s fates will be revealed when the finale airs February 27 on HBO, but will Cal Jacobs (Eric Dane) be part of it? Cal made a swift exit after a night of heavy drinking and even heavier emotions in Episode 3. He’s been mentioned in conversations between Nate (Jacob Elordi) and his mother, Marsha (Paula Marshall). And he appeared in flashback and dream form in Nate’s unsettling nightmare last week. These moments have teased his impending return, but it so far hasn’t come to pass. The final episode will hopefully bring some kind of closure to Cal’s Season 2 storyline, or set him up...

Zendaya in Euphoria (2019)
Dominic Fike Thinks There May Be Some Truth to This Euphoria Fan Theory
Zendaya in Euphoria (2019)
This season of Euphoria has had many a plot twist, to say the least. So, it makes sense that viewers have come up with a myriad of theories, including whether Cal (Eric Dane) and Marsha (Paula Marshall) are actually parents to Nate (Jacob Elordi) and Aaron (Zak Steiner). And, that there may be a third child out there. (You saw that family picture in episode four with five people...) And yes Dominic Fike—who plays Elliot on the HBO drama—has seen the speculation about an estranged sibling. "I'm not going to lie, I saw this online," he said on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. "And I looked at it for a while, and there were so many things connecting,...

‘Walker’ Casts ‘Rebel’ Vet Jalen Thomas Brooks as Rival Family Scion
Image
Oooh, it is heating up down in Austin. Season 2 of Walker is set to introduce the Davidsons, a Texas family that’s had a long-running rivalry with the Walkers dating back to the 1800s. And they are gonna cause trouble for Cordi (Jared Padalecki) in more ways than one. “They are basically building their way back up,” explains showrunner Anna Fricke, of the brood headed up by matriarch Gail (Paula Marshall). “They’ve been gone from Austin for a long time because they lost the ranch and so they’re coming back and sort of rebuilding the family and trying to take their name and their legacy back.” Rebecca Brenneman/The CW And this won’t be beef that plays out just amongst the adults, who also include Amara Zaragoza as Gail’s daughter Denice and Odette Annable‘s hubby Dave Annable as son-in-law Dan. The Exorcist III (1990)
[From Streams to Screams Special Edition]: More Than 30 Horror & Sci-Fi Classics from the 1990s You Can Stream for Free
The Exorcist III (1990)
Happy Friday, dear readers! While time might feel like a bit of a flat circle right now, the weekend is officially upon us once again, and I don’t know about you, but these days, movies are providing a very much-needed distraction. With that in mind, I thought I’d put together a list of horror and sci-fi movies that were released throughout the 1990s that you can currently stream for free on a variety of platforms like Vudu, Tubi TV, Crackle, Pluto TV, and IMDb TV.

I just figured we often spend a lot of time celebrating genre movies from the 1980s, so it was time to give the ’90s their due, and there are a lot of great movies from that era that you can currently watch for free via streaming.

Stay safe, stay healthy and happy streaming!

The 25 Best One-Season Television Shows of the Last 25 Years
John Cho and Karen Gillan in Selfie (2014)
In the age of peak TV, we’ve gotten to see many series which are constructed to be satisfying after just one season of storytelling. But it’s important to remember that this is a relatively new phenomenon, that all too often, potentially great shows will get cancelled before getting the chance to reach their full potential.

Read More:8 Cancelled TV Shows That Got A ‘Twin Peaks’-Style Revival

The list below focuses on scripted series, reaching back over two decades to cover some of television history’s most disappointing ends. The aim is to remember some of network and cable’s most audacious experiments, for better and for worse.

25. “Almost Human” (2013-2014)

In many ways, “Almost Human” was deeply flawed to a degree that made its cancellation understandable — it struggled to balance too many plot threads with an over-reliance on recycled world-building, ultimately failing to coalesce despite some ambitious...

Stephen King was once quoted as saying: “I have seen the future of horror… his name is Clive Barker.” That future became reality when, in 1987, Barker unleashed his directorial debut Hellraiser – launching a hit franchise and creating an instant horror icon in the formidable figure of Pinhead.

Barker’s original Hellraiser, based on his novella The Hellbound Heart, follows Kirsty Cotton (Ashley Laurence) as she comes head-to-head with the Cenobites – demonic beings from another realm who are intent on reclaiming...

Grimm: Season Six to Debut in October Says Co-Star
[caption id="attachment_51112" align="aligncenter" width="590"] Scott Green/NBC./caption]

NBC's Grimm  TV show's sixth season premieres Friday, October 28, 2016. So said co-star Bitsie Tulloch, speaking in a Facebook video chat she did last week with Sebastian Roché. Watch it, below. To give itself scheduling room, so far NBC has only ordered 13 episodes of Grimm, season six. The two-part season five finale's title, "The Beginning of the End," could indicate the supernatural police procedural fantasy drama is drawing to a close sooner rather than later.

Roché, who guest-starred in Grimm season one, episode 18, "Cat and Mouse," as Edgar Waltz is playing Reichsminister Martin Heusmann in the upcoming second season of The Man in the High Castle on Amazon. Tulloch is working with Roché, Jack McBrayer, and Paula Marshall, on Christopher Gorham's feature film, We Love You, Sally Carmichael, currently shooting in Utah. The Grimm  TV series cast also includes: David...

Mary McCormack, Daniel Benzali, Michael Hayden, J.C. MacKenzie, and Grace Phillips in Murder One (1995)
Review: Steven Bochco goes retro with TNT's 'Murder in the First'
Mary McCormack, Daniel Benzali, Michael Hayden, J.C. MacKenzie, and Grace Phillips in Murder One (1995)
Earlier this spring, the complete run of "Hill Street Blues" was released on DVD, and it was remarkable to see just how well the groundbreaking cop drama held up three decades later. Some elements of it felt dated, but on the whole, you could find common DNA with many of this century's best dramas. That's because for a long stretch in the '80s and '90s, "Hill Street" co-creator Steven Bochco was way out ahead of the curve, experimenting with what was and wasn't possible within the confines of a broadcast network drama, and in the process paving the way for this cable golden age in which we live. "Hill Street" popularized multi-layered, morally complex serialized storytelling in primetime. "NYPD Blue" broke down the barriers between network and cable with its raw language, sexuality and criminal subject matter, and the popularity of Andy Sipowicz (who would've been a villain...

Kristen Bell in Veronica Mars (2004)
Rob Thomas talks about creating a sense of scale for 'Veronica Mars'
Kristen Bell in Veronica Mars (2004)
Rob Thomas has a habit of creating television shows I love. As habits go, that seems to be a good one, but for some reason, these shows that he creates that I love never seem to last long enough. Take "Cupid," for example. The first incarnation of the show ran for fifteen episodes in 1998, starring Jeremy Piven and Paula Marshall, and it was charming and smart and featured a cast that had off-the-charts chemistry with each other. Then there was "Veronica Mars," which managed a full 64 episodes over three seasons, starring Kristen Bell, and it was charming and smart and featured a cast that had off-the-charts chemistry with each other. Just to mix it up, he created "Party Down," which broke the mold over the course of their 20 episodes starring Adam Scott and Lizzy Kaplan by being charming and smart and featuring a cast that had off-the-charts chemistry with each other.

TV's Original Flash John Wesley Shipp Will Appear in The CW's Pilot The Flash
CW's upcoming live-action series stars Grant Gustin as DC Comics' scarlet speedster. Originally slated as a back-door pilot that would substitute one of the regular episodes of Arrow it will now air completely separate. Gustin was already introduced as The Flash's alter ego, police forensics expert Barry Allen, in two of this season's Arrow episodes that led into his superhero transformation. The Flash made his small screen live-action debut in 1990 in a show starring John Wesley Shipp as Barry Allen/The Flash, Paula Marshall as love interest Iris West and Mark Hamill as the villainous Trickster. Stan Winston Studios designed the show's costume and award winning composer Danny Elfman created the show’s title theme. It's now been reported that Shipp will guest star in The Flash, though...

Two and a Half Men Mixes Paula Marshall and Diane Farr’s Pasts
There’s something brewing in the love life of Two and a Half Men’s Alan (Jon Cryer). But is that something of positive value? It’s rare that this CBS comedy allows Alan much happiness when it comes to long-term relationships, so it’s not all that surprising there might be something that will wind up getting between Alan and his latest tryst. What is surprising is the past that the woman is hiding, which seems to have something to do with another woman. It’s enough to make me curious about just what the heck is going on in this potentially messy situation.

According to TVLine, Paula Marshall was cast as Alan’s love interest. She’s set to appear in two episodes as a woman named Paula. She’ll make her debut in the Dec. 5 episode, where we’ll discover something surprising about her past. Of course,...

'Seinfeld': 'The Contest' turns 20 years old - retro-recapping a comedy classic
Sunday (Nov. 18) is the 20th anniversary of the "Seinfeld" episode "The Contest." It's now considered one of the very best episodes of the series -- if not of any sitcom ever. Zap2it -- heck, the web as we know it -- didn't exist then. But if it had, this is how we would have recapped "The Contest" in our first ever Retro Rave. The items in parentheses are little factoids about the episode.

That's it. "Seinfeld" is king of the comedy county, lord of the laugh manor. Truly, the show is master of its domain.

The show has been on an unbelievable run this fall, and it came to a head, so to speak, this week with "The Contest," which has to be about the funniest and certainly the most innuendo-laden take on masturbation in TV history. Where to start?

("The Contest" Fact No. 1: Larry David won an...

JoAnna Garcia Swisher
Joanna Garcia has joined the cast of Animal Practice, NBC's upcoming vet-set single-camera comedy that stars Justin Kirk and a monkey. You know, that one. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Garcia will replace Amy Huberman, one of NBC's many abrasive blonds of pilot season. Garcia's had a string of one-season shows — Welcome to the Captain, Privileged, Better With You — and her most recent pilot, Oh Fuck, It's You, didn't get picked up. Somewhere, Paula Marshall is passing a torch.

CSI Review: All For One And One For Murder
I know I’ve said this before, but I have to say it again:

I really enjoy how the writing for CSI has been embracing the culture of Las Vegas recently. While previously I mentioned it in regards to the number of wedding chapels in Vegas, this week "Dune and Gloom" took us outdoors for some desert racing.

Did anyone else think that Kathy Veck was behind the bomb from the moment Paula Marshall took her helmet off? Bravo, CSI, you got me, I fell for it! If you’re not familiar with the trick I’m talking, about allow me to clarify: In most crime shows if you have three actors playing suspects and two of the actors are unknown and the third actor you know by name and can list shows and movies they have done... the third actor is the bad guy.

Actually, the writing in this episode was really solid.
