Dave Navarro and Billy Morrison have announced the initial lineup for their upcoming “Above Ground 4” benefit concert. The evening will see the two musicians joined by Billy Idol, Alice in Chains’ Jerry Cantrell, Guns N’ Roses Duff McKagan, and more as they perform the classic debut albums by New York Dolls and The Cars in full.

The 2025 edition of the benefit show will take place January 25th at the Fonda Theatre in Hollywood, California, with tickets available here. Proceeds will aid MusiCares via Above Ground, a “registered 501(c)(3) corporation dedicated to raising funds for and awareness to the issues of mental health and suicide prevention.”

Hollywood A-listers took to social media this weekend to honor Sam Rubin, the beloved Ktla anchor who died on Friday.

“Your professionalism was unmatched by your kindness and humanity,” Viola Davis wrote on Instagram. “I will miss your presence on The Red Carpet. God bless your loved ones. Godspeed.”

Rubin was a popular entertainment anchor on Ktla-tv’s morning show, and appeared across Hollywood at award shows and red carpet events. He died of a heart attack on Friday at age 64.

“Ktla 5 is profoundly saddened to report the death of Sam Rubin,” the channel wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “Sam was a giant in the local news industry and the entertainment world and a fixture of Los Angeles morning television for decades. Sam Rubin, a veteran entertainment reporter who spent the bulk of his career with Ktla-tv in Los Angeles, died Friday morning from a heart attack at the age of 64.

His death was first reported in a news story aired by Ktla early Friday afternoon. The television station said the circumstances surrounding his death were not immediately known. Entertainment publication TMZ later revealed it to be a heart attack.

“The Sam that you saw on the air is the Sam that was off the air,” Rubin’s colleague Frank Buckley said on television. “To all of us he shared his mornings with on television, and to those he worked with behind the scenes at Ktla, we will not forget him.”

Brian “Brizz” Gillis, the singer who co-founded the Massachusetts boy band Lfo, has died at 47. His former bandmate Brad Fischetti shared the news on Thursday via Instagram, which was later confirmed by Variety.

“I don’t have details and it wouldn’t be my place to share them if I did,” Fischetti shared at the beginning of his heartfelt tribute post. “The first two chapters of the Lfo story lost a main character yesterday… I am really struggling to process this tragic loss.”

The show took place at the Michelob Ultra Arena at the Mandalay Bay as part of a corporate event for Home Depot sales managers. In addition to starring alongside Helen Mirren in the “Yellowstone” prequel “1923,” he’s also taken on his first sitcom role in “Shrinking.” The therapy comedy gives Ford plenty of opportunities to show off his brand of curmudgeonly humor, but he also plays against type in several heartfelt moments — including a scene where he sings the Sugar Ray song “Every Morning” in the car alongside his co-star Jessica Williams.

Harrison Ford candidly explains why he's excited to begin work on 1923 season 2. The legendary actor has had a busy year already, with starring roles in two of the buzziest streaming shows so far. The first came when he debuted as Jacob Dutton in the Yellowstone prequel 1923, lending his formidable filmography to the hit Taylor Sheridan franchise. Along with Helen Mirren, Ford's involvement as part of an ensemble added a lot of intrigue to the Yellowstone world. In his other role, the Apple TV+ comedy Shrinking, the actor gets to show off more of his comedic chops.

As funny as it is on its own, there's added hilarity if you watch Apple TV+'s Mythic Quest since it also features a character singing "Every Morning." Apple TV+, your willingness to give royalties to Sugar Ray is paying off. 

Beyond the Sugar Ray love, Shrinking continues doing well with what it has been doing well.

It gets a lot of mileage out of letting Harrison Ford be funny.

Apple TV+’s Shrinking is built around a familiar irony: Jason Segel’s Jimmy is a therapist who, as evidenced in an opening scene that sees him downing pills and booze with hired sex workers while his semi-estranged teenage daughter (Lukita Maxwell’s Alice) sleeps upstairs, could probably use some healing himself.

That his acting-out is an expression of unresolved grief gives the dramedy, created by Segel and Ted Lasso‘s Bill Lawrence and Brett Goldstein, enough heft to draw a few tears, while his fumbling attempts to get his life back on track prove good for some giggles. But over the course of its ten-episode season (nine half-hours of which were sent to critics), Shrinking eventually reveals itself to be what a therapist like Jimmy might pinpoint as a consummate people-pleaser: too eager to be liked to risk being honest, even at the expense of undermining its own sense of purpose.

Behind-the-scenes looks at Prime Video’s “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” are now available for streaming through X-Ray, providing insight into the making of all eight episodes from the show’s first season. The all-new series of bonus clips is titled “The Making of ‘The Rings of Power.’”

In diving into the elaborate production of the spin-off series, viewers dig deeper into the lore of J.R.R. Tolkien’s literary universe, including the painstaking attention to detail from artisans on staff such as set decorators, costume designers and makeup artists. The new content will also include footage from production, sneak peeks at how the Middle-earth realms were designed and interviews with cast and crew.

“Our team sifted through thousands of hours of behind-the-scenes footage to develop segments that highlight the passion and care that went into creating key moments of the show,” said Craig Muller, senior creative executive for X-Ray.

NBC will strip its U.S. remake of hit U.K. game show The Wheel across two weeks in an unusual scheduling move.

The series will launch on December 19 at 10pm and will move to 8pm for its second week with new episodes airing nightly.

It comes after the show was left off the network’s midseason schedule unveiled last week.

Created and hosted by British comedian Michael McIntyre, who hosted the version on the BBC, each hourlong episode follows 6 celebrity guests spinning, advising, and supporting contestants battling it out for a chance to win over 100k.

The premiere episode will see Cat Cora, Christina Ricci, Amber Ruffin, Steve Kornacki, Mark McGrath, and Todrick Hall assist competitors across a range of categories from Beyoncé and the ’90s to elections and more.

In the Season 2 trailer, which is exclusive to Variety, Mary Jo Buttafuoco breaks down the infamous 1992 incident in which she was shot in the face by Amy Fisher, a teenager that her husband, Joey Buttafuoco, had committed statutory rape against.

Labeled by the tabloids as “The Long Island Lolita,” 17-year-old Fisher served seven years on first-degree aggravated assault charges for the attack. “I turned my head to open my door, and that’s when my head exploded,” Mary Jo Buttafuoco says in the trailer.

“The Masked Singer” returns for Season 6 with several familiar faces joining the show’s usual panelists at the guessing table. Although airdates are in flux because of World Series coverage, joining the show later this fall will be Leslie Jordan (“Call Me Kat”) in October, followed by Joel McHale (“Crime Scene Kitchen”), will.i.am (“Alter Ego”) and Cheryl Hines (“I Can See Your Voice”) in November.

Tonight, the fifth season finale of The Masked Singer unveiled its ultimate winner, once again offering the surprise answer to its mystery voice.

For the uninitiated, the show is a top-secret singing competition. Hosted by Nick Cannon, and featuring panelists Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger and Robin Thicke, “The Masked Singer” features celebrities facing off against one another while shrouded from head to toe in elaborate costumes.

The host, panelists, audience, viewers and even the other contestants are left guessing who the singer is behind the mask. Each week, a singer is eliminated — and then reveals his or her true identity.

The big winner of Season Five was “Piglet,” aka multi-platinum recording artist Nick Lachey of 98 Degrees. Second place went to “Black Swan,” the Grammy-winning singer JoJo.

The hour began with Season 4 winner LeAnn Rimes performing her hit “How Do I Live,” accompanied by Piglet, Black Swan and Chameleon lending their own signature vocal stylings.

Then we got to Nick Cannon celebrating the good times that led to this finale, before it was time for the three remaining contestants to perform one last time in front of judges Jenny McCarthy, Ken Jeong, Nicole Scherzinger, Robin Thicke and Rimes, who served as guest judge.

For their final performances, Chameleon rapped “Gangsta’s Paradise” by Coolio ft.

“The Masked Singer” viewers will find out the identities of Season 5’s remaining contestants and which one takes home the Golden Mask Trophy when the finale airs tonight, Wednesday. In the end, perhaps it was Omarion’s previous career as a professional rollerblader that gave him away. Omarion was the latest celebrity to be revealed on “The Masked Singer,” during Wednesday night’s semifinals episode. (Scroll down to watch his unmasking.)

Omarion was the Yeti, whose skill rollerblading on stage while singing under a heavy costume had impressed the show’s panelists.

“I was able to reveal my hidden talent, which is rollerblading,” the singer told Variety. “A lot of people don’t know, early on before I was a musician, I was a professional rollerblader… I really attribute that aspect in my life to being a fearless kid. I was on the 12 foot halfpipe. So it was really cool to show my music and my hidden talent at the same time.

“The Masked Singer” semifinals included one elimination but two unmaskings, as the Wednesday episode saw the long-awaited reveal of Season 5’s “clue-meister,” Cluedle-Doo.

But before we got to that show-stopping moment, the final four “Masked Singer” contestants — Yeti, Black Swan, Chameleon and Piglet — performed yet again for judges Jenny McCarthy, Ken Jeong, Robin Thicke and Nicole Scherzinger, plus guest panelist Darius Rucker.

Once they had wrapped up their final pre-finale numbers, Cluedle-Doo crashed the party to give his first-ever performance on the show, singing Mark Morrison’s “Return of the Mack.” Then he gave the judges a chance to guess who he was before he unmasked himself. They guessed Kevin James, Jamie Foxx and Akon — and they were all wrong.
