Image
“Homicide: Life on the Street” and “Homicide: The Movie,” which has been remastered to HD and 4K for the very first time, will make its streaming debut in the U.S. on Peacock beginning August 19. The police drama examines the calculating and exacting detective work of the often confrontational, passionate, and opinionated homicide department in Baltimore. With a determined cast of characters that never let up in their quest for truth and justice, this gripping hourlong series remains the standard bearer of how police handle the job both professionally and personally.

From Universal Television, “Homicide: Life on the Street” originally launched on NBC in 1993 and ran for seven seasons, for a total of 122 episodes. It was succeeded by “Homicide: The Movie” in 2000, which served as the series finale. ‘Homicide: Life on the Street’ Finally Gets Streaming Home at Peacock
Image
One of the more critically acclaimed dramas of the past 30 years has at last found a streaming home.

Starting Aug. 19, Peacock will feature Homicide: Life on the Street. All seven seasons and 122 episodes of the former NBC show, as well as the series-wrapping Homicide: The Movie from 2000, will be available, remastered for HD and 4K viewing.

Homicide was based on David Simon’s book Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets and created by Paul Attanasio; Tom Fontana was the showrunner and executive produced with Barry Levinson, Henry Bromell and Jim Finnerty. The series followed detectives in Baltimore’s homicide unit and was praised for its acting and a more realistic depiction of detective work — including some cases that don’t get solved — than on many other network crime dramas.

Over the show’s seven seasons, the cast featured Andre Braugher — who won his first Emmy 1998 for playing Detective Frank Pembleton — Ned Beatty,...

Mario Van Peebles Wanted ‘Alternative Role Models’ for Young Black People in ‘New Jack City’
Mario Van Peebles at an event for Two Days in Paris (2007)
As part of the 2023 Tribeca Festival, director Mario Van Peebles opened up about his directorial debut, 1991’s “New Jack City,” alongside Fab 5 Freddy, Vanessa Williams and Michael Michele with an at-capacity crowd at the Sva Theater for an illuminating 35 minutes full of joy, surprises and honesty.

It can’t be understated how jovial Van Peebles—the son of prolific Black filmmaker Mario Van Peebles—was from the moment he stepped on stage to quickly introduce the film, which chronicles the rise of a ruthless drug lord in the dilapidated slums of late-1980s New York City. By the time the opening credits began to roll he was encouraging a major clap-along in the audience to the groove-worthy opening track. His energy, which stayed high until his final goodbyes at the end of the night, was infectious.

The filmmaker, who directed “New Jack City” from a script penned by Thomas Lee Wright and Barry Michael Cooper,...

‘Dynasty’ Will End With Season 5 On the CW
Image
There will be no Season 6 for the CW’s Dynasty. The CW has opted not to renew the reboot of the iconic 1980s soap, and it will end with the current fifth season.

Dynasty was considered among the most vulnerable CW series to snag a renewal. It was the victim of disappointing ratings and its previous renewals, along with 4400, had been motivated by the money the series generates for CBS Studios through the show’s Netflix deal.

Dynasty hails from Gossip Girl creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, CBS Studios and Fake Empire. Schwartz and Savage teamed with Revenge writer-producer Sallie Patrick and the original series’ creators, husband-and-wife duo Esther Shapiro & Richard Shapiro, for a new modern-day reboot of the classic Aaron Spelling-produced ABC series.

Co-written by Schwartz & Savage and Patrick, Dynasty stars Elizabeth Gillies as Fallon Carrington, Daniella Alonso as Cristal Carrington, Elaine Hendrix as Alexis Carrington Colby,...

“Charmed,” “Dynasty,” “Roswell, New Mexico” and “In the Dark” have been canceled at The CW, Variety has learned.

Based on the original WB/CW series of the same name, “Charmed” was currently airing its fourth season. The reboot starred Melonie Diaz, Sarah Jeffery, Lucy Barrett, Rupert Evans and Jordan Donica. During the show’s first three seasons, Madeleine Mantock was the lead, playing the three sisters at the center of the series along with Diaz and Jeffrey. Dynasty Spoilers: Is Faux Cristal Here to Stay?
Grant Show, Daniella Alonso, Robert Christopher Riley, Elizabeth Gillies, Rafael de la Fuente, and Sam Adegoke in Dynasty (2017)
The drama is flowing on Dynasty Season 5!

It sure sounds like things are going to get crazier on Dynasty Season 5 Episode 5, airing March 25 on The CW at 9 p.m.

"Fallon (Elizabeth Gillies) and Liam (Adam Huber) go to work on their new plan," reads the official logline, hinting that there's some unity between the show's central couple.

If you watch Dynasty online, you know their relationship hit another snag in the form of their chat about having children.

The pair have worked on their relationship of late, and hopefully, they are able to navigate this latest hurdle in a mature way.

The show has a real opportunity to show that the continued tension between Fallon and Liam is not phoned in to increase the drama.

"As Sam (Rafael de la Fuente) works on his own work/life balance, a guest at La Mirage gives him something to think about," the logline adds.

Dynasty Season 5 Trailer Teases Alexis in Jail, Fallon's Fate, & More!
Grant Show, Daniella Alonso, Robert Christopher Riley, Elizabeth Gillies, Rafael de la Fuente, and Sam Adegoke in Dynasty (2017)
Fallon Carrington could be dead.

The CW has dropped the first trailer for Dynasty Season 5, and, well, it sounds like the first two episodes will be a somber affair.

While Blake is seen getting the mansion prepared for Christmas, he doesn't seem to be in the festive mood.

If you watch Dynasty online, you know Dynasty Season 4 wrapped with Eva turning a gun on Fallon, leaving fans to ponder her future.

The only positive is that The CW is airing the first two episodes of Dynasty Season 5 on December 20, before the series goes on hiatus until March.

The two-episode premiere landed a place on the network's holiday roster because, well, they were filmed and had a holiday theme.

Fallon is nowhere to be seen in the trailer, but Liam looks super upset in a quick glimpse.

Dynasty Season 5 Spoilers: The Carringtons Celebrate Christmas ... Without Fallon?
Ewen Leslie and Jessica De Gouw in Operation Buffalo (2020)
Are you ready to celebrate Christmas with the Carringtons?

Dynasty Season 4 concluded with Fallon shot, Alexis in jail for a murder she did not commit, and more drama for the characters.

Thankfully, The CW is giving fans a holiday treat on Monday, December 20, in the form of the first two episodes of Dynasty Season 5.

The network also revealed a wealth of plot details, and if we're to read between the lines, Fallon Carrington is gone.

Then again, the network knows this is a massive cliffhanger that will be resolved throughout the two-hour Holiday special, so Fallon could likely have survived.

"Fallout from Blake's (Grant Show) gala finally begins to settle and Blake and Cristal (Daniella Alonso) work on the next phase of his campaign," reads the logline for the first half of the event.

"In his hour of need, Liam (Adam Huber) turns to Sam (Rafael de la Fuente) and...

Dynasty Season Finale Spoilers: Fallon vs. Eva!
Grant Show, Daniella Alonso, Robert Christopher Riley, Elizabeth Gillies, Rafael de la Fuente, and Sam Adegoke in Dynasty (2017)
Are you ready to say goodbye to the Carringtons?

Dynasty Season 4 Episode 22 will conclude the current season of the soapy drama, and it's going to be a lot of fun.

"Blake (Grant Show) and Cristal (Daniella Alonso) work together on the new obstacles threatening Blake's senatorial campaign," reads the official logline from the network.

If you watch Dynasty online, you know the series has laned heavily on Blake's pursuit of power on a political front.

With the season finale upon us, we can expect some wild developments on the back of it.

We'll probably also get a throwback to a moment from the past for good measure.

But, what will happen between Fallon, Liam, and Eva?

"Fallon (Elizabeth Gillies) turns to Amanda (guest star Eliza Bennett) for help regarding Liam (Adam Huber) and their marriage."

We know Eva is ready to change everything for Liam and Fallon, thanks to her manipulation.

The CW’s ‘Dynasty’ Adds Eliza Bennett as a Long-Lost Carrington
Image
Eliza Bennett has been cast in the role of Amanda Carrington on The CW’s “Dynasty.”

Bennett joins Season 4 in a recurring guest star role, with her first episode being “The British Are Coming” on Aug. 27. She will be a series regular in the forthcoming fifth season.

The original 1980s primetime soap opera “Dynasty” featured Catherine Oxenberg in the role of Amanda for the first three years of the character’s existence. (Her apt entrance was in the fifth season episode titled “Amanda.”) Karen Cellini stepped in in recasting.

This version of Amanda is described as a long-lost Carrington relative who was born and raised in Europe but arrives now “holding a treasure trove of secrets” — both from her past, as well as the Carrington family’s past. She is also described as smart and confident, a character who can hold her own against those who come at her. She is a lawyer,...

Dynasty Spoilers: Surprise Alliances, a Possible Return From the Dead, & More!
Grant Show, Daniella Alonso, Robert Christopher Riley, Elizabeth Gillies, Rafael de la Fuente, and Sam Adegoke in Dynasty (2017)
If there's one thing Dynasty Season 4 has lacked, it's the complicated dynamic between Fallon and Alexis.

Thankfully, Dynasty Season 4 Episode 15 puts the focus back on the fraught relationship between the mother and daughter.

"With Fallon (Elizabeth Gillies) occupied by her business ventures, Liam (Adam Huber) is left feeling neglected and Fallon and Alexis (Elaine Hendrix) are at odds once again," the official logline reads.

If you watch Dynasty online, you know these two love getting into an argument and it gives Gillies and Hendrix a fun dynamic to work with.

The sad thing is that it looks like Liam's tale will be tied to it. The show has sort of forgotten about Liam this season, regularly putting him on the backburner, so hopefully that changes.

As for Alexis, she's going to be in a world of trouble when the truth inevitably comes out that she's partly responsible for Kirby going off the deep end.

Dynasty Spoilers: The Aftermath of a Big Death...
Grant Show, Daniella Alonso, Robert Christopher Riley, Elizabeth Gillies, Rafael de la Fuente, and Sam Adegoke in Dynasty (2017)
Dynasty really went there.

Dynasty Season 4 Episode 13 revealed that Anders was the character in the coffin after crashing his car.

It was a brutal revelation, but it changed the trajectory of the show in a big way, leaving many of the characters on the precipice of big changes.

But what's on tap on Dynasty Season 4 Episode 14, airing Friday, August 13?

"Dominique (Michael Michele) is disappointed in the sales for her new business, and Jeff (Sam Adegoke) advises her to remain patient, but Dom has other plans," reads the logline.

Dominique was not present in the big episode, but it's always fun when she comes up with outlandish plans to get what she wants.

Her relationship with Jeff has blossomed in recent episodes, but it's possible it could be strained again if Dom goes rogue.

As for Fallon and Sam?

"Fallon (Elizabeth Gillies) and Sam (Rafael de la Fuente) are faced with a very difficult task,...

Dynasty Season 4 Episode 9 Review: Equal Justice for the Rich
Laura Leighton
That's the Dynasty we know and love!

Dynasty Season 4 Episode 9 introduced a scene-stealing new character played by Laura Leighton, peeled back the layers on the dynamic between Alexis and Dominique, and so much more.

It was crazy, filled with soapy goodness, and may well be gasp, the best episode of the series.

Let's dig in!

Leighton's arrival found the show staging a Melrose Place reunion as she reunited with Grant Show.

I'm still not buying Blake working with Fallon at Fallon Unlimited, but if it keeps them on the same side for longer, it's worthwhile in my book.

Corinne was poised to be a villain thanks to Leighton's previous roles, but Corinne was probably one of the most genuine characters to grace the series.

Digging into Liam's past is an exciting direction to take things, and if Corinne knows all about the dodgy dealings that may or may not have killed his father,...

Dynasty Casts Elaine Hendrix as the New Alexis Carrington in Season 3
Dynasty is getting the band back together. Elaine Hendrix, who co-starred opposite Elizabeth Gillies on FX’s Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll, is stepping into the role of Alexis Carrington, TVLine has learned.

This makes Hendrix the third actress to portray the iconic character on The CW’s Dynasty reboot. Nicollette Sheridan originated the role midway through Season 1, with Gillies (via the magic of plastic surgery) temporarily taking over in Season 2, following Sheridan’s abrupt exit.

Dynasty Confirms New Series Regulars Ahead of Season 3
This is a different bit of casting news for The CW's Dynasty.

Whenever there are cast changes for the reboot, they almost always include a beloved series regular exiting.

However, just hours ahead of Dynasty Season 3, it has been revealed that four cast members have been promoted to series regular status.

TV Line is reporting that Adam Huber, who plays Liam Ridley on the first two seasons of the series, has finally landed a series regular contract.

It's surprising the network confirmed the news before Dynasty Season 3 Episode 1 airing given that Dynasty Season 2 concluded with Liam's fate very much up in the air.

Still, this will be music to the ears of the fans that have been clamoring for more of Liam ever since his debut on the series.

Liam shares a strong connection with Fallon, and one that fans picked up on from the get-go.

‘Dynasty’: Daniella Alonso Upped To Series Regular In Cristal Role; Michael Michele, Sam Underwood, Adam Huber Also Promoted
We’ll be seeing more of Cristal Jennings in the third season of the CW’s Dynasty. Daniella Alonso, who joined the series in a recasting in July, has been promoted to series regular for season 3, which premieres tonight. Additionally, recurring actors Michael Michele, who plays Dominique Devereaux, Sam Underwood, who portrays Adam Carrington, and Adam Huber, who plays Liam, all will be series regulars in the new season.

Dynasty has gone through major casting changes over the past two seasons. One of the original leads, Nathalie Kelley, departed at the end of Season 1. The role of Cristal was recast with Ana Brenda Contreras, who was replaced with Alonso as the series headed into season 3. Additionally, Elizabeth Gillies recently took over the role of Alexis from Nicollette Sheridan.

The new season also gets underway with new showrunner Josh Reims, who was upped to exec producer and showrunner at the end of Season 2 after Sallie Patrick,...

Dynasty Sets New Series Regulars Ahead of Season 3 Premiere
Dynasty‘s new opening credits are looking mighty crowded these days, which is good, because there’s plenty of drama to go around.

Ahead of tonight’s Season 3 premiere (The CW, 9/8c), TVLine has learned that Adam Huber (Liam Ridley) and Sam Underwood (Adam Carrington) have formally been promoted to series regulars. Huber has recurred since Season 1 as Fallon’s on-again-off-again love interest, while Underwood debuted as a presumed-dead member of the family in Season 2.

Ken Kirby
Ken Kirby Joins ‘Dynasty’ In Recurring Role; Chelsea Rendon Boards ‘Shameless’
Ken Kirby
Ken Kirby is ready to jump into the soapy prime time drama of Dynasty. The Good Trouble actor is set to recur on the CW reboot of the iconic series in the role of Evan Tate, Trixie’s (Jessi Goei) older brother. And as we all know, Trixie is Fallon’s (Elizabeth Gillies) friend who died ten years ago and whose body was pulled from the lake in the season finale.

Kirby’s casting is refreshing in a time when Dynasty has seen a slew of changes in its casting during the first two seasons. The lead role of Cristal went through two changes. The first time Ana Brenda Contreras replaced original star Nathalie Kelley after the end of Season 1. And recently, Contreras was replaced by Daniella Alonso as the series headed into Season 3. In addition, Elizabeth Gillies recently took over the role of Alexis from Nicollette Sheridan. And original...
