“They have my sister,” begins the trailer, picking up where Part 1 ended in a cliffhanger with Kimmie (Taylor Polidore Williams) running her car into Body (Tamera “Tee” Kissen), a stripper and low-level boss at the club where Kimmie works, leaving questions about the fate of Body, Kimmie and Kimmie’s sister Sylvia.

Amazon MGM Studios has released the first trailer for Tyler Perry’s “Divorce in the Black,” starring Meagan Good and Cory Hardrict. The thriller will be available to stream globally on Prime Video starting July 11.

Per Amazon’s official logline, the film follows “Ava, a young bank professional who is devastated when her husband Dallas abandons a marriage she is determined to fight for until fate intervenes, revealing Dallas’ wicked deeds that have trashed their marriage, and once upon a time sabotaged Ava’s destiny to be loved by her true soulmate.”

The National Film Registry just granted immortality to 25 classic films. Every year, the Library of Congress chooses another class to be preserved for posterity, and this year’s group includes some major blockbusters like “Terminator 2,” “Home Alone,” and “Apollo 13.”

What about the mother positioning an infant for a photo? She works at a studio, tucked in a Bay Area mall, trying to make ends meet before the birth of her third child. Or the Black mother lounging in her living room during a party? Guests, drunk on liquor and a good time, buzz around her as a young girl plays at her feet.

These women are the central figures of three revelatory dramas released this year. In A.V. Rockwell’s A Thousand and One, Savanah Leaf’s Earth Mama and Raven Jackson’s All Dirt Roads Taste of Salt, which opens in limited release Nov. 3, Black mothers assume more complex roles than the ones Hollywood usually affords them.

Angelica Ross is accusing Ryan Murphy of ghosting her over an “American Horror Story” season idea.

Ross, who appeared in Seasons 9 and 10 of the anthology series as well as Murphy’s “Pose,” tweeted emails allegedly sent by Murphy that suggested the executive producer was interested in an all-Black season of “AHS.”

An email claimed to be from Murphy in July 2020 to Ross reads, “Remember your idea about a ‘Horror’ season starring Black women? Well I’m doing it. Not sure of the story yet, but we will start a writers room in the fall.”
